I started with a manhattan which was made beautifully and I loved the special touch of the three cherries. Then, they brought bread to us and I love that each person got their own personalized better. Then, we ordered our main course. I got a beet salad and their sea bass. The salad was amazing, and the sea bass was good, but the slaw on top was the star of the show. My family got the trio that had 2 kinds of steak and lobster. My mom said the steak melted in her mouth. She felt bad that I am a pescatarian diet and allergic to shellfish, because I couldn't try anything on her plate, but she said it was so good. She said it's the best steak she's ever had, even though she is a steak connoisseur, so that has to tell you something. We finished our meal off with the creme brule cheesecake, which did not disappoint, and even though it was my first time here it definitely will not my last. The tomahawk steak was literally the best steak I've had in years. It was perfectly cooked and well executed. The staff was so friendly and so personable. They really made this birthday dinner feel special. I loved the writing on the desserts, the chocolate box, in the picture they printed out for us, and the decorations. At the end, they even boxed up our meals for us. I highly recommend this restaurant, not just for the food, but for the experience. I will definitely be coming back for any and every birthday!

We had two bad dining experiences in a row at Fleming's Omaha and both centered around servers not prioritizing our table for two in favor of their larger and/or more important tables. I'll focus on the most recent visit to celebrate our wedding anniversary on the actual anniversary day. Table was decorated and welcoming. Our server was training someone. We ordered drinks to have a toast, of course. The server trainee dropped off water and said he'd be right back with our drinks. Our drinks sat up in the bar for almost ten minutes getting warm. Our server and trainee were taking an order for a party of five at an adjacent table, and they appeared as though they could not be bothered. I finally got up and walked over to the bar. I explained to the bartender that my drinks were sitting there, and she enthusiastically grabbed a tray and brought them to our table. The drinks certainly weren't as cold as they should have been. A manager stopped by and acknowledged what had happened and apologized. He said that round of drinks would be on the house. The drinks were never removed from our check. Paying these prices and getting lied to just doesn't work for us. During their dessert course, two adults from the more important table that we were ignored for were sitting on the ground right outside the restaurant entrance on their cell phones when we left. We almost tripped over them. At that point, we realized that we are no longer the right clientele for Fleming's.

We've been here before and had a decent time, but this was the first visit with the full crew: husband, kids, and my dad. Let's just say... we had a mix of opinions. We arrived right on time and were seated without a hitch. Our server was super sweet, though there were a couple of small mix-ups with the drinks. No harm done, and it got sorted quickly, and everyone had something to sip while we waited. Food-wise, we ordered up a little tour of the menu: Husband: Trashcan Nachos (his go-to) Me: Plain Jane Burger + Fry Trio Kids: Off Da Hook Fish & Chips Dad: Classic BLT The wait for food was pretty standard. My burger was decent, but something had a sour tang...maybe the tomato or pickles? The tomato was hot, soggy, and a little sad. I scraped it off and moved on. The fry trio, however, was the real winner. Waffle, curly, and straight fries all together? Perfection. The kids liked their fish and chips, but honestly, it was mostly chips. Two small pieces of fish were buried under a skillet of fries. I get it... "Chips" is in the name, but maybe dial it back a bit, Guy? My dad's BLT looked fine, but if his tomatoes were like mine, I doubt it gave "fresh from the garden" vibes. He said it was "decent," which in dad-speak means, "I'll eat it, but I'm not excited." Dessert was where the magic happened. We got the cheesecake and the brookie. The cheesecake? Meh. Not terrible, just cheesecake. But that brookie? Absolute showstopper. Half brownie, half cookie, served warm in a cast iron skillet, topped with ice cream, salted bourbon caramel, and toffee bits. That little skillet of joy made the whole meal worth it. THE ATMOSPHERE: The very first thing we noticed was that the restaurant was empty and there was no server to greet us. When someone arrived they told us "sorry for the wait, we only have 2 servers." That's when I discovered the bar was empty, probably because there was no bartender either. It made us wonder about the kitchen staff? The "greeter," who I'm pretty sure was also the Manager, told us that we'd need to wait about 15 minutes because she didn't want to seat us and then get bad service; after which, she went away to clean a table. While we waited, the foyer filled up with people who were asking the same questions we were... (1) It's Sunday @ Noon, Rush Hour, where's the staff? (2) How can Red Lobster survive like this? (3) How can Red Lobster maintain healthy standards for cleanliness when there's no wait staff much less general restaurant staff for cleaning? CLEANLINESS: In as much as cleanliness was concerned, the restaurant and bar were clean, even the men's restroom was clean, but then, they barely had any customers present yet. This made me question what state the place will be in towards the middle of a rush, or at the end, when they clearly weren't prepared for a rush in the first place? Is it even safe to eat at a place that is clearly not prepared to clean or sanitize, much less take orders? FOOD: To start our order, they were out of chocolate syrup to make chocolate milk for our grandson, but he had Apple Juice instead, which arguably is a better choice anyway. The biscuits were very tasty, as always, which is to be expected because they are the de facto standard for garlic biscuits. Everybody loves and expects them at Red Lobster. My wife had shrimp two ways, I had endless shrimp, my grandson had chicken strips. All of it, from the biscuits, to the salad, to the entrees, looked tasty, and were cooked to perfection, hot and delicious. THE SERVICE: Our server was Madilyn, she apologized multiple times for the "wait," to which I said, "what wait?" The truth is, there was no delay in service; in fact, despite the short staff issue, she's one of the fastest and best servers I've ever had... bar none! She offered refills on the endless shrimp, and it arrived right on time, hot and tasty! Our server had nothing to apologize for because she did an extraordinary job. THE MANAGEMENT: I would have loved to have said thank you to the Manager, but she was busy greeting diners, seating diners, and bussing tables. To be clear, I'm positive she would have talked with me, but I just couldn't take up her time for this, so I gave a quick message to another waitress for her. All things considered, I'd say this place is managed extraordinary well, especially considering the staffing challenges! By the time we left, there were a couple more waitresses, but that didn't change the incredible job this manager was doing, she just kept helping and supporting her staff! What a great Manager she is indeed! It reminded me of something I already knew, a great manager can make a good restaurant an extraordinary one. The Manager makes all the difference in the world. WHAT'S THE MAIN ISSUE HERE? (1) There's not enough workers in Omaha to staff all our businesses? (2) The current generation is lazy and simply doesn't want work? (3) Red Lobster as a company and/or local management is a nightmare to work for so they can't keep employees? (4) Red Lobster wages are so low they can't keep or recruit qualified labor? (5) All the prospective employees chose to honor God, like the Bible instructed us to do by keeping the Sabbath, so they went to Church instead? CONCLUSION: Being an eternal optimist, I sincerely hope it's #5 because I'd hate to see the long standing tradition of Red Lobster fall by the wayside and close! I'm of the opinion that all our local businesses are facing the same challenges this one is. If you want to enjoy great local dining, then we must take an interest in supporting them in a positive way! Even the most stoic of people tend to respond to friendliness, I consider it a challenge to "turn" the hapless wait staff into a real person, even if just for the moment. To that end, I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone, for any occasion, at any time, and I hope those of you who live near Red Lobster, will continue to support and patronize it. Remember, people tend to be quick to criticize and slow to say "Thank You!" Let's all make an effort to reverse this societal trend. I was really tempted to order one of the seafood boils I keep seeing all over social media, but I just couldn't justify the price this time. Instead, I ordered the shrimp trio with bang bang, coconut, and grilled shrimp. The coconut shrimp and grilled shrimp were my favorites, both had great flavor. My husband ordered the popcorn shrimp and those were surprisingly good too. Overall it was a solid meal and fun to revisit a place.
