I love this place! Been here twice already and have loved the staff, the food and the ambiance. This is the second location they have and nice place to eat and maybe get some remote work done too. Any of their seasonal drinks taste amazing. My go to is the spicy sausage quiche with any matcha drink they have. The bread sold individually is amazing as well. This is Ovenbird's newest and biggest location and oh my goodness it is so adorable! It feels like I am sitting in a boho grandma's cafe. The staff here are very friendly and are more than willing to answer your questions and make recommendations if you ask them! The prices for their food are reasonable, very on par with other cafes/bakeries but with slightly better food. On the day I visited, my friend and I ordered the butternut squash toast and the French onion soup. Both were very delicious and the soup was piping hot! I really enjoyed the butternut squash toast and would only justify buying it due to how much work goes into prepping the squash for myself. With this, we also got a challah roll which is only offered on Fridays. THE CHALLAH ROLL WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THIS VISIT! Coming in at just $1.50 the challah roll was light and fluffy topped so gently with flaky salt. I will definitely be going back to Ovenbird on a Friday with the intention of getting a challah roll (or a dozen). During this visit I also ordered a blood orange matcha, which was surprisingly delicious and refreshing. I would order it again, but am also willing to try something new. Their iced caramel latte was also very good and relatively inexpensive (I think it was less than $5 which is inexpensive when it comes to coffee nowadays). I will admit as a self-proclaimed Kougin-Amman connoisseur, Ovenbird's falls short compared to sacre sucre, especially with both being at approximately the same price point. Ovenbird's is smaller and not as flaky/crispy from the brûlée. Nonetheless, still a great assortment of pastries. The chocolate chirp cookie has been wonderful, in the future I am looking to try the mosaic cake. WARNING: As of mid-January 2024, there was NO WI-FI that was set up. Whenever I visit Baltimore, I have to stop by Ovenbird Bakery! This was my first time at this location and it was MAGICAL. The staff was warm and friendly (provided great recommendations), the ambiance was relaxing and colorful, and as always - the food was fantastic. We enjoyed some food inside, which was very relaxing, and then took additional goodies to Fort McHenry for a picnic. Here are my reviews of what we ordered: - Turkey & Havarti Sandwich (7.5/10) - White Chocolate, Pistachio & Toffee Cookie (8/10) - Ham, Brie & Asparagus on Baguette (9/10) - Green Goddess Salad (10/10) - Pain Aux Raisins (10/10) - Key Lime Thumbprint (10/10) - Iced Vanilla Latte (10/10) I'm still thinking of those 10's days later. Next time I visit, the Raspberry Cheesecake Danish is on my list! Ovenbird in Highlandtown is such a neat spot! Unassuming from the outside, the decor is very cool and there's plenty of seating inside. We got two chocolate croissants, one brown sugar pop tart, and two iced lattes for about $30. I loved that the food came on ceramic plates and the drinks came in either ceramic mugs or glassware. The brown sugar pop tart was phenomenal. The chocolate croissant was pretty good- nice lamination, good flake. I got a plain latte, but I did notice that they make their own syrups and might try a flavor next time. All their bread looked great, though I didn't try any. We had a lovely lunch at Ovenbird Bakery! This was our first visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The bakery has a spacious interior with plenty of tables for dining, and we noticed many people working remotely while enjoying their treats. We stopped by around 12:30 on a Friday, and as expected for a popular spot, they were out of some breads and pastries, but we still had plenty of delicious options to choose from. The staff were all friendly and helpful in guiding us to the best choices. We tried the Oat Apple Chai from their autumn specials, and I absolutely loved it--perfectly sweet with a lovely apple cider flavor. We also had the mocha latte, which was fantastic. For lunch, I ordered the butternut squash sandwich, which came with roasted butternut squash, goat cheese, and cranberry on the most delicious cranberry walnut sourdough. We got our food to go, and while the bread was a bit soggy by the time I ate it 10 minutes later, the flavor was still great. We also tried the Italian cold cut sandwich, and it was phenomenal! That's definitely something we'd go back for. For dessert, we had the raspberry Danish. While it was tasty, it was a pretty standard version--nothing too extraordinary. We stumbled upon this bakery after a meeting, and was excited to see this fairly recent addition to this neighborhood. It makes your day when you experience a pleasant surprise. Our intention was just to take a look, but once inside we decided to take a taste and stay a while. The atmosphere on a Saturday morning was leisure and community oriented, with tables of folks solo working, couples enjoying lunch, and groups enjoying each others company. The menu wasn't typical, but gad a good variety of sandwiches - hot and cold, variety of meats (beef, turkey, prosciutto) and veggie, salads and of course pastries and fresh bread. Hubby got the sandwich with havarti and turkey with cucumber on sourdough. I got the meatball with tomato sauce on ciabatta. We shared the sandwiches, and they were both tasty and filling. The mocha was really good, (and the finish reminded us of an adult beverage...). The place has a bar that looks simple but promising. Parking is not limited to the street as there is an entire lot for the bakery right across the street. We'll definitely be back and will try the pastries next time. read more

I decided to give this place a try since it's in my neighborhood. Four visits and they were all the same... mindless young people working serving lukewarm to cold coffee and sandwiches that were mostly not edible. I asked for more bread on a sandwich because it was mostly giant wholes and the food kept falling out. When I asked for more bread, I was told they don't have any....ITS A BAKERY. Plus the bread on my other sandwiches was hard as a rock and difficult to eat. The space was nice, but not worth going again. read more

A MUST if you're in Baltimore! First, Mika (hope that I spelled your name correctly!) is so very welcoming and offers great suggestions for ordering. She is an exceptional face for the front staff. I ordered a lavender latte and she suggested adding a little bit of vanilla, and OMG it was perfection in a glass. The coffee is great on its own but adding a flavoring (just a little) jumps it to another level. I love the spinach and cheese quiche - it is the lightest, fluffiest, tastiest anywhere. The crust is layers of deliciousness. Hubby loves the egg sandwich with cheddar on a croissant, which is my runner up. The croissant is so fresh, crunchy at the bite and layered perfectly. Today, we tried the pistachio blueberry lemon opera pastry. While decadent, it was light with a very fresh taste, VERY yummy. The place is decorated like someone's living room, eclectic and roomy. Plenty of tables yet feels warm and homey. Bathrooms are kept clean - I tend to think of the bathrooms are clean so is the kitchen. We live out of state but make this a stop when we visit family in Baltimore; you should, too! read more

This is the best bagel spot in Baltimore! We are so happy to have Ovenbird in their new Highlandtown location. The space is absolutely beautiful with tall ceilings, colorful decor, lots of seating and natural light. Make sure the get here early! They sell out of their bagels because they are absolutely delicious. The everything bagels are a must. We always take a half dozen to go. The veggie cream cheese cannot be beat with fresh veggies mixed in. All of the pastries are crazy good. Try the raspberry danish if they have it! They also offer lunch items. The turkey havarti is one of the best lunch sandwiches and super fresh. The full loaves of sourdough are super soft on the inside and perfect amount of crunch on the outside. Great coffee and very friendly, helpful staff. This Highlandtown location has a big space and plenty of seating. Most of the breads we've tried have been good, especially warmed up again or toasted at home. Their croissants are flakey and soft with just a little crust - worth a try! The only down-sides are that some of their pastries and cookies are toooo heavy on butter, to a point where the flavor gets overpowered by an 'old butter' taste and some grease kind of leaks. And occasionally we've gotten a bread loaf that's a little past its prime - slightly stale rather than crusty. Otherwise a great spot with some of the nicest people staffing. read more

I love Ovenbird, but everything - per their own explanation - is sourdough-based. I brought a friend without knowing this, and she couldn't eat anything because sourdough is a migraine trigger. I really wish they would make that fact clear somewhere - on their menu or counter. I would not have brought her as a guest had I known that. They literally shrugged an "Oh well" at her because they have NO alternative bread available. I thought that was absurd. Do they have no gluten-free alternative, either? read more
