I took a friend visiting from out of the country a few weeks ago and it was phenomenal, so of course I wanted to go back as soon as possible. My boyfriend and I made reservations for Friday at 5 PM - figured it might be the last evening to enjoy beautiful weather. The host and our server were very kind, but the food that came out this time around was TOTALLY different. We started off with the raw tuna dish, which I had a few weeks ago and loved. It came out gray and the flavor was way off. Previously it was that beautiful pink you expect raw tuna to be. I also re-ordered the swordfish since I LOVED it last time. It came out burnt to a crisp, and also gray instead of flaky and white. The risotto it's paired with had no flavor. Nor did the bouillabaisse my boyfriend ordered. I rarely refuse to eat food, especially when hungry, but the swordfish entree wasn't even edible. Let's just say I regretted eating the tuna for the next few days. Our server took the swordfish off of our bill and gave me a free beer, which was much appreciated. However, I really just wanted a great meal like I had before! I know everyone is understaffed and there are supply chain issues - and my heart feels for everyone - but serving seafood that's either not fresh or not prepared properly can't be happening - as it's genuinely dangerous. A few weeks ago I ordered takeout for a stay at home "date night" and it was one of my favorite take out of experiences of quarantine. I've tried a lot of vegan and vegetarian food in Pittsburgh, but they served some of the most inventive, vegetable-forward dishes I've ever had. Excited to try again soon! The location of this restaurant alone is stunning, with rooftop city views and a great sunset. The staff was very friendly and the decor was nice. The one glaring problem we had was the food. We ordered the pasta with chicken and it came out lightening fast, which was worrying. The plate consisted of soft mushy pasta in a bland watery sauce with molecules of ground chicken sprinkled in. Overall a mostly homogenous bowl of disappointment, not to mention the $20 price tag. Such a shame to have a location and view like this just to be let down by the lackluster food. Terrible service. Chicken order was RAW (and 30 min after the first order of jerk chicken from our party). I asked if there was supposed to be blood (not myoglobin or marrow) coming out and the waitress said it's "the ligaments" and walked away. Even if they were correct, you would think you would make your customers feel safe if it's a health concern and just return to kitchen and cook more so there wasn't actual blood pouring out of it. read more

Gorgeous place to dine with a fantastic view of the city and rivers. They have a great covered area on the rooftop to enjoy the weather and view when it's nice. They also have a great happy hour with good deals on food and drink. Service was a bit slow but otherwise liked that they followed all safety/cleaning measures for a good Covid dining experience. read more

Finally was able to visit this spot in Lawrenceville. They have a parking lot which is nice. The space and view is amazing. That's unfortunately where the positives end. The staff all just seemed very bored and disinterested. We caught the tail end of happy hour which was good as most of the cocktails seem very overpriced. We had a pitcher of sangria for $20. It was pretty bad, really just tasted like sweet fruit juice with no alcohol at all. The menu is very limited currently. The "Over Eden Burger" was just okay, there are definitely much better burgers nearby. Fun to go here and take a picture of the city but probably wouldn't come back here - the food, drink and service were just not great. read more

There are so many great breweries in Larryville, definitely better to go elsewhere. Bottom line: The view is neat but the food is just ok and everything is way too expensive--especially their beer. I probably won't go back anytime soon. The view of the city is pretty great but the food is only okay. You'll need to make a reservation, apparently that will be the norm for a while, even for guests of the hotel. The menu is mostly small plates and snack type items but there are a couple of sandwich options. I got the sandwich and added Kafka as the protein. It was average and I'm being generous. You definitely won't mistake it for anything authentic. It was under seasoned and kind of thrown together in a pita. The cocktails are pretty good but expensive. The beer list is uninspired and their prices are absolutely insane. I ordered a Head Hunter IPA off the draft list. It was $8 and I expected 16 oz. instead, I was given a barely 12 oz pour. I came here with some friends the other day for the second time. Honestly, the best part was the view. I got the summer sangria which I was told was a white wine sangria with a berry medley and it was super disappointing. Normally, when I picture a sangria, it's a tasty wine that's stuffed with fresh fruit. I got a pink drink with one blueberry and tons of ice that tasted vaguely of wine. Located at the Tryp hotel the rooftop restaurant is the perfect place to catch some pretty spectacular views of Pittsburgh Downtown. Parking is limited so we used the Valet service upon arrival. We headed up to the rooftop where we was met by a very friendly hostess. We dined on the outside terrace and took in the views. We opted for some really good drinks off the drink menu. For dinner we enjoyed the Hummus Plate with Chicken and the Rice Bowl with Chicken, both were filling and delicious. The service was good and ambiance was perfect. The manager floated around to make sure everyone was satisfied with their service. Dress code was casual. Check it out if you're in Pittsburgh. read more

Stayed at this hotel (TRYP) during our night in Pittsburgh, so decided to come up to the hotel bar for our night cap after dinner. They had a fine selection. Big outdoor space but it was already getting cold so we could only stay out for a few minutes- wish there was some type of heat lamp set up so that we could have stayed out there longer. read more

Cute bar at the rooftop of a hotel (5th floor) in lawrenceville. Came here for a date and sat at the bar inside. Ambiance - intimate yet lively. Excellent service. Despite only being 5th floor great view of the skyline as well as fireworks from downtown. They have both indoor bar (garage-door style windows to open it up) as well as outdoor dining. Drinks - had cocktails at the bar. Average price for drinks and very tasty. Tried an off menu drink per recs from the bartender which I didn't like and he easily switched it out for me. Food- tasted apps...chips ($5) and marinated artichokes ($10) which were surprisingly very tasty. Would def come back here for a full dinner. My group easily found a large table at 5:30 on rooftop however getting drinks was laughably slow. Since the place does not open until 5 I have no idea why the staff looked so miserable and moved at a snail's pace. I just went with sangria which was fine but others in the group were disappointed in an old fashioned and margaritas. Overall I would say this place is pretentious. We came here for drinks and the view on a Saturday evening. We were able to sit outside and it wasn't too crowded( without a reservation) which was a plus. We waited fairly long for a waiter to even take drink orders and only after another server realized we had been waiting. Unsure how they handle busier times. The cocktail menu was unique, my husband ordered a whiskey cocktail he enjoyed. I ordered an aperol spritz and it appeared they didn't know how to make one. I realize everyone has a bad day, but all four of us were in the service industry and we know how to treat someone who is waiting on us, and we didn't deserve her attitude. The manager was nice, but overwhelmed. Ok, so how about the food? The menu is disjointed and inconsistent. We ordered the brussel sprouts and the mussels. The brussels were fantastic! Truly should've ordered them again for my main course. The mussels were the worst I've ever had. The broth had no seasoning, it truly tasted like water. The pita bread could've been the savior, but it was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Main course options were slim. My vegetarian friend ordered fried tempeh and it came out slathered in barbecue sauce and it wasn't even fried. The salads were expensive for what they were and completely different sizes. One salad was more of an appetizer size, while the other was massive and could've fed the table. Sure, the views are great. I'm not a person that typically writes a review but the utter disappointment from my time at Over Eden could not go unnoticed. My cousins were having a smallish get together for newly engaged couple and while I understand group gratuities. The restaurant was incapable of allowing the guests to pay for drinks and food separately while maintaining their party rate gratuity, they claimed they could only process one check which is hard to believe with todays technology in the service industry. And when people who came for a brief time wanted to just go to the bar to purchase drinks they were treated with a great deal of animosity and disrespect and denied service. In fact the server and bartender got so confrontational with multiple members of our group and even the manager stated she was not going to deal with this from "you people!" whatever that was referring to, hopefully not what I inferred it to mean. But at any rate the amount of people the group reserved for at the restaurant had an issue with providing enough seats for and continued to come and pester the attendees to move and pushed guests into a corner. Overall probably one of the worst experiences I've had out in the city in ages and I definitely will not be back nor will ever recommend this awful and demeaning establishment. For an hour + wait...the (all gender neutral) waiting staff was nearly non existent and seemingly forgot about our table. My food was done being eaten, beer had been drank - yet the plates remained on the table and I never received/was asked for a drink refill. Went for first time last Friday. Place was busy which was great to see. Staff was stretched but were very pleasant and helpful. Regarding food, the menu is limited but what they do serve is very good. We had 5-6 different items (avocado hummus, fries, both types of tacos, fried brussel sprouts, avocado salad) and would order them all again. Cocktails were okay - a little sweet for our taste but really liked that they used spirits from the local distilleries. Last but not least - great, great, views of downtown Pittsburgh. They charged me more than my bill. I couldn't figure out first. I called the restaurant to let them know my bill and my statement is different. The staff on phone was so rude.
