I really wanted to like Tapville because the self-pour concept sounded like a fun and unique experience that unfortunately it fell short. The self-pour system took much more explanation than I expected, and there were some unexpected issues with how it worked in a group. Since I arrived first, everyone's drinks ended up being charged to my card. I eventually hit the spending threshold and was locked out of the machines. While our server tried to split the charges afterward, they weren't applied to the correct credit cards, making the payment process confusing and frustrating. The drinks themselves were fine and the food was disappointing. I ordered a salad and paid an upcharge to add salmon, only to receive the smallest piece of salmon I've ever been served, literally about the size of my finger. It definitely wasn't worth the extra cost. We also ordered the pretzel bites, which were so heavily coated in butter that it overwhelmed the flavor. Overall, the concept is interesting; though, the execution needs improvement. Between the confusing payment process and underwhelming food, I don't see myself returning. I'd maybe stop in for a drink if I were nearby. I wouldn't go back for a meal. read more

I've been wanting to try a flight here for a while and the spiked lemonade flight hit the spot! Service was great (no waiting) on Sunday around noon. Love the concept of pouring your own beer, but couldn't pass up the cocktail flight! Had the chicken-bacon-ranch wrap and it was delicious! Can't wait to try the margarita flight. They also have a nice patio, which is perfect for summer shenanigans. read more

I've been to Tapville before, but coming to the one in the Strip District was wonderful. I came once for dinner & once for their Mother's Day brunch. Both experiences were fantastic. They have a nice selection on the menu, and I liked the selection of beers. You can do flights or drafts, it's pour yourself. You can also pour your own wine too. They do have a fully stocked bar if you prefer mixed drinks. I found the staff very helpful and polite. I thoroughly enjoyed my visits. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I have. read more

This was my first visit to Tapville Social, and unfortunately, it was a letdown due to the service. The space itself is great--nice vibe, modern, and a fun concept overall. The food was decent, nothing bad there. The service, however, was extremely frustrating. We were seated for about 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our table. Another server finally stopped by to ask if anyone had been over yet. Our actual server eventually came, gave us water, and took our drink order--but then disappeared again. At over 30 minutes in, we still had no drinks. I flagged down the first server again, who asked if we had placed an order (we had) and said she would send a manager. The manager came over and kindly comped our drinks, which was appreciated--but even then, we continued to wait. We didn't receive our drinks until about 45 minutes after being seated, and only then was our food order taken. We had a 9:00 PM show to get to and arrived for our 7:00 PM reservation thinking we had plenty of time. Instead, when the food finally arrived, we had to rush through our meal just to make it on time. It was especially frustrating watching guests who arrived after us receive their drinks and food well before we even got ours. That said, I do like the concept of the beer and wine on tap and didn't even get the chance to try it. I'd be willing to give Tapville Social another try because the idea and atmosphere are solid--but I truly hope for a much better service experience next time. read more

Super cool concept where you get a card and insert it into the tap. You are charged for the amount of ounces you pour. You can either get a large glass or get a bunch of smaller ones to try various drinks. There are mostly beers, some ciders, and some wines. There's also a Norma drink menu to order from and food. On Wednesday's there is trivia, you do need a smartphone for it. read more

Tried this place as it was open and just down street from hotel. Thankfully it was a good choice. The service was great. Our server was very helpful and timely but not over the top. The interior to very clean and modern with good music that was not too loud. The food was good but could have been a little better as the wings, burger and fries could have used a little seasoning other than the sauces. My burger was cooked exactly how I had requested and the bacon on it was cooked to be crunchy but not over cooked. The wings were cooked well but not dry. The self serve drinks had a wide variety so we were able to try some things we typically would not try. There is a good amount of locally made beers which we did try a few and were pleasantly surprised with them. We would definitely recommend this place if anyone is in the Pittsburgh area. read more

We visited Tapville Social based on a recommendation from our hotel. We had a great time. Yes, it is a pub menu but there is a nice twist on the items. The steak fries, maple bacon Brussels sprouts, truffle fries and sliders were tasty and top quality. We didn't order off the main menu but it looked great. The beers/taps were high quality and the ability to try different types of beers and ciders was fun. Denny, the owner, was present and pitching in with obvious care for his staff and the guest experience. A good value too! Highly recommended read more

The food was super good, we had the cheese curds, a burger, wrap, and salad. The beer was way overpriced. It was $10 for half of a glass of sangria that you had to serve yourself. The manager was super nice, stopped by multiple times and told us to come back. Overall cute place, just not my style on the serve your own beer for twice the price. read more

I like the concept of self-serve beer and wine, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The beer selection was solid and you could pour and pay by the ounce, which I liked. The wine options were more limited and it took me some time to figure out where to find the wine glasses (they are on the right) and how to select the variety and size (small, medium, or perfect pour). I was disappointed that you couldn't try a sip before committing to a half or full pour. The decor is welcoming with a wrap around bar, plenty of tables and chairs, and a back room that seems ideal for parties. I will go back some time when I'm hungry--they had some snacks that looked worth trying. read more

The bad reviews are accurate. It looked busy when we came in, so we understood a wait, but didn't expect to get no service at all. Waited at the front to be seated and got a small table by the bar. Hostess apologized for how crowded and cramped it was. Waited at the table but it was clear that no one was coming to take any orders. Other tables were getting up to get things they needed for their table because they weren't being served, either. Got up to leave, waited at front to make sure we got closed out and not charged. Hostess seemed pretty unsurprised that we weren't served and were leaving. No reason to try this place again. read more

Really cool concept for a restaurant! As the name suggests, they have plenty of drink options on tap. They're all on a wall where customers can access and pour their own glasses once they get a Pour Pass. This gives you the ability to create your own flight, try options, or pour a whole glass of your favorite. The tap wall has not only beer, but also cider and sangria. I loved the variety of sour beers they had available! If you come during Happy Hour or Wednesdays you get 50% OFF drinks, so take advantage of that deal otherwise it can get pretty expensive. We also ordered food with our waitress at the table. I got the Tapville Signature Burger and it was delicious. It's a large tender sirloin burger with chipotle-mayo, melted monterey jack and cheddar cheese, crispy smoked applewood bacon, crispy onion straws, and spicy Tapville sauce. I loved all the flavors coming together and the slight spice the sauce gave. It was on a toasted bun too, giving it a nice crunch and smokey flavor. Highly recommend signing up for their loyalty program, I got BOGO entree for the month of January. read more

The restaurant is new so there is definitely room for improvement, but I enjoyed my time immensely at Tapville! The margarita flight was delicious, all of the flavors were great, but the passion fruit was my favorite. We also got the buffalo chicken dip which was very tasty, though I wish it came with more pita. Three of us got the taco flight. Although it was good, the taco flight should be listed on the menu with what specific tacos are in it just to avoid any confusion (and allergies). The tacos were good and for $9 it was a good portion. Service was a bit chaotic, but i'm sure with time and getting the flow of things, it will smooth out. We also met the owner who was lovely! He was checking on us throughout the night and made sure we were taken care of. Next time I will definitely try the tap wall and hopefully go for brunch! Hoping they host more events soon read more

Tapville Social recently opened in the Strip District and I was excited to try a new spot. As soon as you walk in, the host gives you an electronic pour card that they link to a card on file. The beer and wine self pour wall is pretty big with a nice variety. I went with a rose and thought it was good. We ordered the cauliflower app with buffalo/ranch and the $9 Taco Tuesday flight. The cauliflower was a decent app that I would order again, despite the price for amount of food ratio. The taco flight consisted of a chicken,steak, fried avocado, and fry tacos. The flavors of the sauces on the tacos were solid, but lacking on meat and fillings and quality. For some reason all of the dishes, water cups, and utensils had marks that made them appear dirty looking. The service was friendly, but the food and check took some extra time. There is a good amount of TVs inside and I would go back to hang out inside or out on the patio. read more

My friend and I came in for dinner & drinks around 645 on a Friday evening. I made a reservation in advance, but it wasn't necessary because there was plenty of seating available. They have a lot of tvs around the bar for spots, but they have tables towards the front and the outside patio that aren't as sports bar-esque. They have you essentially link your card to a "pour card" as soon as you walk in. You swipe that card to access any of the drinks on the tap wall and they're able to close you out electronically when you're ready to leave. The tap wall was very fairly priced, IMO. After visiting two other businesses with tap walls this summer, I can say that this was the best bang for my buck. The beer selection was a little small, but there were at least four types that I could make a small flight for myself. My half to full pours in the flight sized glasses cost me under $6. The food came out quickly, which we loved. I ordered the harvest salad with steak and it was quite the presentation. The salad, though beautiful, wasn't very voluminous for $24. It tasted great, but I get a very similar one from Industry that's a few dollars less and double the size. The ambiance was very aesthetically pleasing and the women's bathroom was bright and clean. I'd definitely come back for drinks and probably an app to share in the future. read more

Haven't been here since they opened. We figured a Sunday afternoon when the Steelers are on a bye week was a good idea because it shouldn't be as crowded. We still made reservations through open table, which is super convenient. When you get there, they issue a pour card (the beer, cider and sangria is self-serve and you pay by your pour on your card). We didn't use it though because we both ordered drink flights off the menu. Our reservation was 12:30, so we got there about 12:20. It was not crowded at all and not loud. Football games were playing on all the tv screens. We placed our food orders and the app came out rather quickly. At about 1:20 or so our server said she was going to check on our food. She realized she never sent the order to the kitchen, but also didn't have my order and took it again. She said she was putting a rush on our food for the error, but we still didn't get the food for another 20-25 minutes. Luckily we did not have anything planned except walking around the strip, but there was no real "customer satisfaction" checks by a manager or anything. When mistakes like that happen, I like when they at least try to make you feel acknowledged and they're apologetic. read more

For the aesthetic of the restaurant, it's a cool industrial vibe, but I think they spent all the money on the metal sign and picked up tables from the dollar general. Every table was wobbly and the chairs did not slide on the ground; my partner's chair was literally separating in the seat. Clearly the budget was not allocated to the actual seating of the restaurant. Our service was also terrible, and it took nearly 10 minutes to be acknowledged, and another 10 minutes to have our orders taken. For the price of the microwaved food, I was expecting a little more than a glorified Applebee's. Willing to give it another try, but not anytime soon. One star because I have to, but also the tap wall is a cool feature, so that's about it. read more

My husband and I along with another couple decided to make reservations here before our reservation at puttery. Online it looked casual but more upscale food choices so thought we would enjoy it. Service seemed overwhelmed (it was early Saturday evening) and not very responsive. Tables to be bussed, missing clean glassware, etc. Regardless, we figured we'd be getting some decent food. We started with the buffalo cauliflower which were tasty but a super tiny portion (definitely not shareable for two people). My husband got a basic caesar salad as his entree but added steak and we were extremely disappointed to only get three bites of steak for the $9 add on. He ended up having to order another cauliflower because he was not close to being full. I got the steak tacos, they were ok but the tortillas were so thin and stuck to the metal holder so had to eat the steak with a fork. I really liked this place when it first opened, and liked the Cajun pasta quite a bit. I tried it once with the shrimp that was served with it and the pasta was great but the shrimp was terrible. So I asked for the same pasta dish with chicken instead of shrimp but was told I would have to pay the up charge even though I am substituting a cheaper item for a less expensive one. The manager just sat there drinking beers and said I would still have to pay an up charge. So even though I like this place I will never be back until something changes. read more

We've been on a 3-month trip exploring states we haven't been to, and our visit to Tapville in the Pittsburgh Strip District was a huge highlight of our visit to Pennsylvania. We highly enjoyed our drinks (the self-pour concept with so many choices was so much fun), the beautiful layout and decor, our amazing food, but above all, the excellent and friendly service we received. The owner introduced himself and was attentive throughout our visit, and our server, Matt, was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the cauliflower bites, so uniquely battered and so delicious, and we shared the chicken sandwich which was cooked to perfection and came with brussel sprouts as a side which were equally as delightful to the palate. Even though we're staying an hour away from downtown, we're planning to make the drive back before we leave just to enjoy another meal and great time at Tapville. If you're in the area, don't miss going. You're guaranteed to have a memorable time. read more
