I came to Owen's Bistro in Chino last night for dinner, and I absolutely loved the experience! The ambiance was amazing, the inside had such a beautiful, cozy feel, and they were playing oldies, which I really enjoyed. Outside, they had live music, which added such a nice touch to the evening. There was no wait when we arrived, which was a huge plus. For an appetizer, we tried something that wasn't on the regular menu, a 25-year-aged cheese, I believe, and it was absolutely delicious. For my entrées, I ordered the Rack of New Zealand Lamb and the 12-ounce Tajima Australian Wagyu Ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection and were delicious! I will say that this is definitely a little on the pricey side, especially since we weren't celebrating anything special, we simply came out for dinner. But overall, I thought it was worth trying, and I really enjoyed the secluded, private atmosphere. It felt like such a nice little escape. Honestly, take a first date here! The ambiance, live music, privacy, and food make it a really nice spot for a special evening. Definitely a place I'd come back to!

Celebrating my wife's birthday at Owen's Bistro. We made reservations on Yelp and when we came in we were promptly seated in the outdoor patio. Nice open air area with a nice breeze on a warm summer night. Our waiter Jordan, was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great suggestions. We ended up ordering two excellent entrees, the Rack of Lamb with mushrooms and the Pineapple glazed Pork chops with Shrimp. The restaurant gave my wife a nice birthday dessert to end our dinner on a sweet note.

Made reservations for a belated father's day dinner and we were seated immediately. Our corner was unfortunately decorated with storage that had gatehred quite a bit of dust. As a visual person, it did hamper the ambiance for me, especially since I was sitting right next to it. We were the only table that wasn't a couple, and even when it got more crowded, the noise level was pleasantly low. Our server asked us how we felt about salt, which was very much appreciated. AMARETTO SOUR: 3/5. Very sweet, and orange-forward which is a new flavor profile for this cocktail for me. BREAD & WHIPPED BUTTER: 5/5. Served warm. The bread was pillowy soft, and the butter, (which was more air than butter and therefore definitely zero calories), was delightfully salty. BRUSSELS SPROUTS: 5/5. I've been burned by so many poorly done sprouts that I don't order them anymore, but my partner wanted to try it and I'm so glad we got them. Zero bitterness, and crispier than an newly minted dollar bill. OCTOPUS: 5/5. Grilled to perfection, soft, not rubbery. The spices in the romesco sauce were aromatic and punchy. STEAK TARTARE: 4/5. Good. These crostinis were the most crostinis to have ever crostinied. The perfect vessel for the rich steak. MUSHROOM SOUP: 5/5. This is the first time I've found balance between being truffle-forward without being overbearing. Usually I'm done after about two spoonfuls, but all 3 bowls (shared between 6 of us) were cleaned. SURF & TURF: 5/5. Owen's checks internal and external temperature, which means steak is cooked true to the way it's ordered. More impressive is that they didn't overcook the lobster. A moment for the gorgeous blue plates; they are heirlooms, and only 7 of them exist in the world. CHILEAN SEA BASS: 4/5. For me, the radish did a lot of heavy lifting in balancing out the saltiness of the soy vinaigrette and richness of the fish itself. STEAK FRITES: 4/5. Again, perfectly cooked steak. I only had one fry, and I thought it was a damn good fry, but my partner did say it eventually got salty. And he loves his salt. CAMPING TRIP: 5/5. The crust on the salmon, the theatrics of the hot rock, the fresh veggies. It's a classic for a reason. MAITAKE MUSHROOM: 4/5. While it was good, I didn't find myself continuously reaching for more, as I nearly always do with mushrooms. ROBUCHON POTATOES: 5/5. AKA indulgent, buttery velvet. A labor of love well received. STRAWBERRY TART: 5/5. While the strawberries were phenomenal, the vanilla (?) custard was a little heavy for me. My mom inhaled it though. CRÈME BRÛLÉE: 5/5. So good. I don't know when it became normalized to serve crème with an Ozempic-thin layer of brûlée, but thank you Owen's for not doing that.

Every time my girlfriend and I decide to treat ourselves to a nice dinner that we know is going to be delicious no matter what we order, it's always Owen's. Staff is always nice and knowledgeable. We normally bring our wine and just have it corked there, but last time we were here, we enjoyed their selection as well. We love the interior with all the brick and lowered lighting. Provides a little more intimate of a setting. We actually came on my birthday in April (sorry the review is so late), but the staff all signed a birthday card for me and left confetti on the table. Nice touch. The food. We had the lava shrimp to start and of course the freshly baked loaf. I can't say anything bad. It's all fresh and the flavors are amazing. I got the venison chops cooked rare. Wow. First time I've had venison like this, and man. The presentation was cool. Waiter brought it out covered in glass and opened up the container in front of me so I could see the smoke leave the plate. She got the surf and turf, which is always nice. Steak cooked perfectly, lobster cooked perfectly, potatoes with the brown butter were delicious. Owen's never fails to let us down and we will keep coming back. Kudos to the owner and the chef for doing a bang up

Been here a few times now, impossible to disappoint. Attention to detail is there both front of the house and the back of the house.

Was looking for a local spot for dinner and found this on Yelp. Charming little restaurant even though they're undergoing construction. Despite not having a res, we were seated quickly. Shout out to our server, Emily, who was super friendly and helpful with their menu. We advised that we were mildly in a rush and she took care of us. They started us off with an amuse (Italian meats on crostinis). They were yummy! We ordered the Brussel sprouts for app and the Australian wagyu with truffle fries for dinner. Wow! I am so impressed with how tender and juicy the meat was. The seasoning was just right. We got a little side of demi glace to compliment the steak. All were so good! Their menu is updated for the season so I'm looking forward to checking out other entrees at my next visit!

I've lived in the area for over two decades, and Friday night was our first visit to Owen's. The only disappointment was realizing we waited this long to try it--everything was phenomenal. The restaurant is a cozy space with an elegant, rustic charm and beautiful lighting that sets the mood perfectly. From the moment we arrived, everyone was welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate. The last time I was this thoroughly satisfied by a meal was in Europe. The food is simple yet elegant, impeccably high-quality, and bursting with flavor. I have never seen my husband enjoy every bite of a meal the way he did at Owen's. It was a truly memorable dining experience, and we can't wait to return.

We went for our anniversary. I wish they would've asked if it was a special occasion but they didnt. The food was good, bartender was awesome and made awesome drinks. If anything I may come back for drinks only one day. We did think the dmfood was good, especially the deviled eggs. My husband really liked the salmon.

We made a reservation for 4 people on a Saturday just in case but it wasn't too busy at 5:30. The place is quaint and simple. Our server was very attentive. I really enjoyed the food presentation. Definitely fancier than what we're used to. Think like a nice wedding but the food was actually good. I had the stew with mash and my husband had steak medallions with truffle fries. His steaks were perfectly tender. My stew was very flavorful and hearty. The brown, butter mashed potatoes were so good. We had a lemon, coconut cheesecake to finish that didn't disappoint. One suggestion, check their website for an updated menu. Don't go by the one in here. That was my mistake. Apparently it changes every season.

A friend of ours recommended this place for a date night. We were really impressed honestly! The food was really good. I did the 10 oz filet with fries and my husband did the wagyu with the truffle fries. I've honestly never had fries with my steak and wasn't sure what to expect but it was a really good pairing. We each added asparagus for a vegetable side. For appetizers we did the loaf of bread and the beef tartar. The loaf of bread was warm and had really good fluffy butter. The beef tartar was also excellent. The Gigi's cocktail and old fashioned were very yummy. We had two New York cheesecakes for dinner and they tasted very very good. We were really impressed overall with the service, and the energy. We were constantly checked on and it was a great vibe. Definitely plan on returning!

Owen's Bistro is a hidden treasure in Chino I almost want to keep to myself. But I shouldn't. It's a tastefully decorated bistro set in an old brick building with high ceilings and a gorgeous covered brick patio perfect for a romantic dinner date or celebrating a special occasion with family or friends. We came and thoroughly enjoyed our special Filipino Chicken Adobo dinner on one of their Summer Supper Series! The prix fix came with oh so meaty deep fried Lumpia Shanghai with flaky crispy wrapper and a sweet and sour sauce. The Chicken Adobo was fall off the bone tender and the sauce was the perfect balance of savory soy sauce, tangy vinegar, garlic and bay leaves. That, and a side of garlic rice and fresh tomato slices tasted exactly like my mom's and took me straight home. We also ordered savory bay scallops with chimichurri served with crostini and ended our meal with a heavenly Strawberry Pavlova. Chef and owner James and his wife Denise were so gracious and shared how they learned to cook adobo from their Filipino friend many years ago. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were all attentive too. Even if the Summer Supper Series is almost over, they have other events lined up so check out their socials. Also, It's pretty obvious they took great care in curating even their regular menu so you will definitely be satiated with exciting flavors and satisfying options even if there's no special event happening. I've seen people walk in and get seated promptly but I highly recommend making reservations. We will be back for sure.

Wifey wanted to come here last minute so we gave it a shot. The service was good and the ambiance was great. It was in a weird part of Chino, a cute little area, I'm not sure what to call it. It was a bit overpriced, but the food was pretty good. We had a root beer and a wine. We ordered Steak Frites and Boeuf Bourguignon- a beef stew type item with mashed potatoes. A lot of meat and gravy, but could have been some more mashed potatoes. The food was cooked well with good seasonings. Most people sat outside on the patio area not inside. Miguel was good and attentive. The only thing was that when the electronic payment system came it had the tip at 20%. I thought I choose the tip amount based on service and food quality. Overall it was a good experience. I will come back when I want to spend $150-200 for dinner

I had the spicy cucumber margarita (sooo refreshing!) with a Baja fish taco and a spicy Baja shrimp taco. Both tacos were really good, but the spicy baja shrimp taco was my favorite. We also ordered the fresh chicharrones. The chicharrones were hot and still crackling when they arrived at the table. I especially loved the green aioli salsa that came with the chicharrones. Overall, this is a good place to enjoy some fish/shrimp tacos and margs.

Visited for the first time last night based on the awesome reviews…read more Ordering was a bit odd as the full menu was not up on the screen as you stand in a line for one employee to take your order. The complete menu was next to said employee who stood there patiently while waiting for you to decide on something all while not holding up the line. We settled on 2 taco combos: baja fish and baja shrimp, both on corn tortillas. Then we ordered another set of a la carte tacos, more baja shrimp and fish tacos, but this time on flour. The total came out to $52+ (including CAs seemingly mandatory these days tip). The friendly employee gave us our receipt, order number and beverage cup, and we waited. In contrast to other reviewers apparently short wait times, we sat waiting around a half hour for our take out order to be delivered to us at our table. We headed back home as soon as we got our order and the food held up very nicely. Id say the tacos were delicious and very filing. The battered fish and shrimp in each were generously portioned and the cabbage toppings on each were not only refreshing but eye appealing as well. Although the tacos hit the spot, I have to be honest about the rice and beans, as being an Angelo--if the spot has legit Rice n Beans, then everything else on the menu is spot on. Can't say this holds true for this spot, as it was quite literally the worst rice and beans Ive ever had from an establishment touting Mexican (style) food. I opened the takeout container of rice and was disappointed to say the least, it was just a helping of white rice-- the same as you would get at Chinese takeout. The beans? Even worse than the rice. I sat for a while trying to figure out how to not toss them out, as that would be throwing money away. I'm still pondering.... Go for the tacos, stay clear of the R&B.
