Owen's is still one of the best deals going at the Jersey Shore. Where else can you get $.99 domestic pints of beer and $1.00 bottles for during an extra-long Happy Hour? And their food isn't half bad either if you stick to the tried-and-true menu items. During Happy Hour, they have amazing food specials but we always go on Wednesday for their chicken wings. For a $1.50 you get eight plump and perfectly cooked wings. We always order them with the cheese fries for another buck and it makes a full meal. I do have to agree with some of the other reviewers here about their hamburgers, which can be dried out and overcooked. I have also had hit-or-miss experiences with their cheesesteaks which they also tend to overcook. Salads here are good when they are the special for the night. A non-veggie Caesar comes with generous portions of chicken or steak and nice, garlicky dressing. Plus the portions are huge. Their specials are also very reasonable and they seem to know what they're doing in the kitchen when it comes to fish (I had a really good grilled shrimp salad a few weeks ago). In the summers, Owen's is mobbed and the line can stretch around the corner. But for me, spending the winter at the Jersey shore, there is no more reliable local hang out where I can have a few beers an$d a good meal for under $10. The wait is long and the food here is pretty terrible. We came on hamburger night and I was told I could not get my burger cooked to the temp I wanted. They said because they were busy all hamburgers are cooked well done. Seriously? You can't temp meat? Atrocious. Against my better judgement, I didn't cancel my order. My burger was insultingly bad. It was way overcooked, possibly reheated - not even worth the $2.50 they give it to you for with the purchase of a drink. The only positives here are that the walls in the bar are lined with TVs. We spend our summers on 17th street and my grandmom loves this place. We have been coming here for over 20 years! The food is pretty good, but I think it may even seem better because of the amazing prices. But you can't beat the specials and the happy hour and it is perfect happy hour and after the beach food! The waitresses are always friendly and the bartenders differ by the day and really work their butts off-but the poor review is for the hostess. She was so rude to my grandmom that she was almost in tears. We simply asked if there was a wait and her reply was so rude and so aggressive I was at a lost for words. I read the other reviews and many people agree. When a restaurant receives many poor reviews on an employee, you have to think that they don't care about their customers. It's one of those places that knows it will be on a wait, regardless of how you are treated. A women in back of us heard her and said, "she's always very mean". Well, it was ok...if you're broke and like burgers you can get one for $2.95 here on Thursdays...service was a little slow but maybe because they were busy...hostess didn't really smile but does hustle and works hard. We were there a few summers ago for the 2.50 burger deal. One of the guys we were with asked our waitress if the burger came with fries to which she rudely responded "Dude, they are 2.50 burgers are you serious?" Now I get that it was maybe a stupid question, but she could have easily answered him in a much more professional manner. I've been coming here for 27 years and will never come back again. The hostess is the most rude person in the Wildwoods. I always go to the bar to avoid her. When the outside opened with COVID-19, I couldn't avoid her. They let other customers add people to their table but would not allow us. There was a table for 6 that they sat 8 people at & would not let us join my sister to make a table of four. There was nobody in line when we got here and empty tables when we left. WOW, the end of my $1.95 cheesesteaks May be coming to an end. For the last 8 years we would visit Owen's about 6 times a year for cheesesteak special and a few cocktails. However, our last 2 visits were not so pleasant. While I get $1.95 for a cheesesteak is cheap, they have increased the prices on some of the traditional options. And while it seems petty, they give you OBE pickle chip to attempt to spread across your steak. When we asked for me the server said it was be an extra cost and we didn't care but it was the point of ONE chip. We also got a few order of fries that were extremely undercooked. Needless to say we still go to Owens because it is a family staple. But I hope they change some stuff up. They built their clientele on those cheesesteaks lol. read more

I had the food years ago and remember it being great...and this is the first time I've been here late enough for Quizzo, albeit I wasn't on-time and just observed this past weekend. Drinks are an a-okay price (only cost me about $5 for a Coors Light bottle and a shot). My only complaint is I drank way less there than I did on a night out the couple hours I was there and got water forced on me when I went to order another beer. I told that male bartender (there was a younger dude and a middle-aged girl on duty) that it wasn't happening and he just walked away apologetically leaving me empty-handed. I own a house in North Wildwood and I never miss s chance to go here. The bartenders are excellent. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The food has always been great. We love the scallops wrapped in bacon and the dynamite shrimp. The weekly specials are out of this world good. The drink prices are the best on the island. I haven't been here in 7 years and I'm sad it took us this long to come back. We came in on a busy Eagles Sunday and luckily found space at the bar. The bartender greeted us immediately and was on top of our drinks all game. What a new bartender relieved the first one the drink service slowed down but I think we only noticed because the first bartender was amazing. The happy hour and other drink specials were great. They offer half price appetizers There were more TVs than I could count so come in during your favorite sporting event and you will be able to watch it. We ordered appetizers, received them quickly and they were delish. The cheese steak egg roll was so good! The service was great. The atmosphere was great. hey great spot to stop on a chilly sunday afternoon....came here yesterday with a buddy of mine for their sunday special.....egg plant over pasta and buttered rolls for $2.95....yes $2.95....it was great.....it went well with a cold bud lite.....i usually don't drink bud but they don't carry PBR....shame on owen.....but hey, the food was great....bartender and waitress were great....the bar is clean along with the toilets.....i have been here b4 and had never been disappointed.....it's a great local hangout and everyone is all ways friendly......they also advetise nothing on the menu is over $14.95....can't beat it !! read more

Came here for my mom's birthday this past August on a rainy Saturday night. The drinks were super cheap, and the dj was playing fun music, mostly top forty but whatever. Bars like this are pretty indicative of the jersey shore. Crowds are mixed from 21 to about 60, and most people are trying to have a good time. Yummy bar food but it seemed the other guests were ordering the 3.99 chicken parmesan dinner. The following day, we came back for dinner and I got 2 crab cakes and my Johnny got the steak. I went to Owens for dinner . They were having a special on cheese steaks so i ordered one. I told the waitress that i was a diabetic and asked if they would scoop the roll? She told me they were too busy in the back so i ordered salmon which was as long as my index finger and over cooked almost to cremation! All thru dinner the fact that they wouldn't take three seconds to scoop the roll bothered me so i confronted the waitress (at the end of the meal ) and an argument ensued . I have been here many times thru out the years, bottom line is its cheap, low quality food , bar is always crowded and to ask the staff for something is like asking for the world.
