If you are trying to find a place to go to for an unforgettable and amazing food experience in the larger Pittsburgh area go no further. This is it. This is the place. A fusion of traditional southern smoked meat menu with the finest European design and service is found here. The interior is thoughtfully created to evoke the feeling of class, dignity and prestige, while the service and general atmosphere are such, that in the several times I've been here, I've always felt welcome and cared for. Obviously, the food is the crowning pearl, a true and mastered craft. I've got to try many things here: Pork Ribs. The tenderness of the smoked ribs stood out to me as well as colorful presentation and a great choice of a light, yet tasteful side of grilled veggies. Smoked sausage. The juiciest sausages, bursting with flavor, while the plating is simpler than most other courses, this seems to be a conscious choice, since the fluffy pillow of mashed potatoes and aromatic onion cider gravy pair so incredibly well with the sausages. Smoked salmon. Plainly, I'm a fan of fish and this salmon managed to surprise me with the intricacy of both the taste and the plating: the fish rested on a bed of incredibly aromatic rice under a beautiful coral-looking decoration which was also edible! Honey Cake. A true, tried and tested European classic dessert of many layers and unrivaled creaminess. I've gotten it several times in the end because it's wonderful texture and taste had me charmed from the first try. And some more, that I would love to write about as I generally love to talk about food, but this review might just turn into a novel then, so I'll just list my other fantastic experiences here: Wagyu Brisket (nutty, explosion of powerful taste, great to share with friends), BBQ Brisket Soup (hearty, unique, lovely), Buratta appetizer (a firework in your mouth, the perfect appetizer), Sandwiches (there are currently 4, but all of them are mouth-watering and very handsome) and the homemade lemonade (Basil lemonade is definitely a surprisingly fresh experience). Additionally I'd like to add how much I love the way families and kids are treated here, making the "Owl's Nest" a true "family restaurant": music is non-explicit, kids are always given a coloring sheet and crayons to draw and take home and even if certain things are not in the menu, I've seen the staff accommodate the families with things needed, such as non-sugar sweeteners, milk, a high chair for toddlers and other things, including a birthday I got to witness one time. Overall, I give this place 10/10 for the overall performance, the staff, the interior, the choice of music, the beautiful views and most importantly, the smoky and meticulously perfected food. P.S. I don't drink much, so bar was not of much importance to me, but they apparently have BYOB until their bar opens. read more

I recently visited this wonderful restaurant and was completely impressed! The Wagyu brisket was absolutely delicious - the meat melted in my mouth, perfectly cooked, with a rich flavor and aroma. Each bite was a true gastronomic delight. The cocktails were truly amazing! The bar menu impresses with its variety, and the bartender create real masterpieces - perfect balance of flavors, beautiful presentation, and original combinations of ingredients. I'd like to specifically mention the super service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and professional. The waiters knew the menu perfectly, could provide recommendations, and were very responsive. The restaurant atmosphere is simply wonderful - cozy interior, pleasant lighting, and music create the ideal mood for dinner. You feel comfortable and relaxed here. Am amazing gem nestled in Upper St. Claire. I found this European vibe while cross country skiiing on the Frosty Golf course today. I'm feeling very vacation -y right now as I eat my brisket sandwich and fries ( with mayo) . Best brisket in Pittsburgh, in my opinion. It's delicious. A great seemingly hidden gem- it's a nice place to linger over drinks and food. Not visible from the street, it's in the Frosty Valley golf complex. The bar menu has many interesting offerings, I enjoyed the cherry whiskey sour, very warming on a chilly day. Everything that came out of the kitchen got a "Wow!", beautifully presented salad and even burger. My table shared a tailor made platter with melt in your mouth wagyu brisket, baby back ribs and smoked chicken breast with a few sides. The portions are generous and I brought some home. I had get some of the house barbecue sauce ,Grishna's sauce, to take home- it's complex and delicious. To start us off, the ambiance is welcoming and unique. The bar tender and waiter were friendly and tended to our needs. Now for the part even one wants to know about, the food. It was delicious. We recommend the grilled watermelon spear for a delightful starter. The duck breast melts in your mouth, while the cherry tomatoes add a little something unexpected. The southern sausage it the perfect blend or Texan and European flavors. For desert we recommend the hidden gem. We challenge you not to lick the plate clean. Thanks to all the staff. My first time here. Had French Onion Soup for a starter. It was tasty and hit the spot. Would have had a Al a Carte, but they were out of ribs, so I had the smoky burger. It was a combination of ground ribeye, filet mignon, and brisket. Most excellent! Best burger, but pricy. All in all, a good meal. Food was unique and very delicious... My sister had the brisket and it had a wonderful smoked flavor and I had the French eel... You have to try it. It's mild like a Seabass and has a sweet soy and a beautiful morel mushroom sauce. I highly recommend. We sat on the patio overlooking the putting green on a beautiful weeknight evening... The food here at the owls nest is tremendous. The barbecue is fresh and they make their own sauce. I might add that they have some specialty lemonades that they make the syrup right in the house and they are both delicious... Lavender as well as the basil, pineapple lemonade. Discovered a hidden gem, located in the Hidden Valley golf club, Owl's Nest. There was no good BBQ place in Pittsburgh before, and now this box is checked.
