Living nearby on Queen Street, Ox Coffee has quickly become my favorite coffee shop in Philadelphia. Just walk by the shop and you're attention will instantly be grabbed by the clean, sophisticated stylings of the logo outside and wooden plank counter inside. All of the baristas are kind and brew a tasty cup of Stumptown espresso beverages. My regular order is an Americano (especially when I need a jolt before studying) and the cappuccino is my treat on the weekends. Trust me, take a trip to Ox for coffee and you'll be feeling more dapper about your day. read more

First of all, I want to say that my favorite coffee shop in the area is Philadelphia Java Company, which has great owners, a great staff, and very decent coffee, which is sometimes hard to find around here. That said, PJC is a little far from my home so I decided to stop into Ox for a quick cup of coffee. I'm glad that I did, because It was the best I've found in Philly! Fresh brewed, strong and rich without being bitter. Great job! I still love PJC and will keep going, but now I'll split time between the two. read more

Small coffee shop with a minimalist menu, but it is all done well! The Americano I got was a good pick me up and the barista was friendly. There is minimal seating up front, but it appears they are fixing the back area for possibly more space. I dig this place and will more than likely return. read more

Beware of lids! If you're taking coffee to go, they're super loose. Leaked out onto brand new sneakers (no exaggeration, like first day out). Even after I wrapped the cup in several napkins, it was completely saturated within seconds. Obviously this is not necessarily their problem, just a heads up to others. On a positive note, the coffee that hadn't leaked out was fantastic. Very strong. I'm typing like a madman right now. Whooooaaaa! Anyway, the staff was really friendly. No awkwardness. I'll definitely stop in again, though I'm going to bring a thermos or galoshes. read more

Cute, little Indie coffeehouse in the Queen Village neighborhood. Barista friendly and understanding as I like my Caffe Americano strong, so, he asked me where to put the water. They have been open since Oct2013. I will come back when I am next in the hood.....He uses Stumptown coffee which I believe is smooth tasting. It's small, noroom to just sit n chill, but you could grab a coffee and walk South street since it's a half block away. read more

Ox coffee is definitely a worthy place to stop by if your in the neighborhood. Will and his baristas are solid and consistent with their espresso as well as friendly and personable. There are a few places around the city that serve stumptown, and I have found this to be the best, by far. read more

Simple amazing coffee. They actually serve coffee in a porcelain or glass cup instead of paper cups, but those are available too. If you want authentic this is the place to go. Not a great place to sit for a long time if you are looking to study or have a long conversation, but the music is nice and comes from a record player. The inside is warm and wood decor with clean lines and all is clean and tidy. Staff is helpful and friendly with great service. Cannot wait to go back tomorrow and wish I could take them back to my home town. read more

Great coffee and very nice baristas, but by far the best part has to be the back patio area. It's quite and cozy and beautifully shaded by a large tree overhead, add to that the free New York Times and it's quickly become a favorite place to while away an hour or two. read more

The coffee here is solid. Consistently fantastic. They're one of few coffee shops in the city that can properly steam soy milk to make latte art with (I'm lactose intolerant, frowny face). I love treating myself to a lazy morning cappuccino on the weekends here. Baristas have always been very friendly. Cute intimate atmosphere. Back room if you want to get work done. Backyard if you want to sit outside. One of the top 3 coffee spots in the entire city as far as I'm concerned. read more

In my previous experiences at Ox I absolutely adored the lattes I got, and thought the service was wonderful. However I was just told that they no longer will make a breve latte because they don't order enough half and half. I asked if they could charge me extra. I was in a party of three, and we would have each paid extra for breve, and the barista still refused. This is unacceptably terrible customer service, and I will not be returning. read more

Since Ox Coffee is pretty much around the corner from me, I decided to check it out on one of my mornings off and treat myself to an iced latte and a pastry. Unfortunately, when I asked for an iced caramel latte, I was informed that they were out of caramel syrup, though they did gladly make me an iced mocha, which was just as good. I also got a blueberry scone, which very nicely complimented my mocha. It didn't occur to me to chat up the baristas, but since every other review has mentioned how friendly they are--I definitely got that vibe as well; eager to serve and eager to please!--I will make it a point to do so on my next visit! Since I was killing some time before getting my nails done over at Juju, I decided to sit and enjoy the cafe's atmosphere, which was fairly quiet, since it was the beginning of the day (albeit a Monday morning!). They have a counter with a few stools in the front, as well as a room in the back with tables and benches should the front area quickly become occupied. The one thing they're missing? Ox is a really good, small coffee shop. Of drinks, I've only ever had their drip coffee, which is top-notch -- one of the top two best drip coffees in Queen Village, along with Shot Tower. I've also enjoyed their selection of baked goods, which is small but well-done. Ox only loses a star due to the fact that they don't offer pour-over coffee, which honestly, is mitigated by the fact that their drip coffee is so good. read more

Extremely good cappuccino (rich espresso flavor, nutty, not too acidic) made quickly with a pretty flourish on top. Small cappuccino was $3.75-- a standard price for far inferior beverages. The atmosphere is pretty hipstery, but neither crowded nor overwhelming. read more

Great coffee, some o the best drip I've had (not quite as good as Exlir's) but still incredibly good. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only gripe is there isn't much in the way of seating, I like to sit down to enjoy my coffee, but alas I couldn't. Would definitely recommend. read more
