I've tried Palace Station Oyster Bar so I wanted to try Sunset Stations Oyster Bar since I heard that it was under the same management to compare. Immediately upon arrival, I was able to be seated so that already gave this place an edge on the wait time. It also had plenty of seats at the bar and also tables if preferred. I chose the Bar. I ordered the Pan Roast and it did not disappoint. There are 10 levels of spicy and I like the middle range of 4-6 and the spice level was just right. The serving size is a major plus because I was able to eat to satisfaction and still have some to go as leftovers. I would highly recommend this Oyster Bar since it's far enough away from the strip and at an enjoyable location. read more

Be sure to specify heat level and start slow. Each Oyster bar has a different idea of heat level. Level 7 at one location can be a 10+ at another location. Inside the sunset station casino, we had dry bread that was not warm. Our son had the sunset pan roast which was phenomenal and my bouillabaisse had huge chunks of seafood. Service was great but lowered stars as hubby had seafood jambalaya and it was terrible. The flavour profile was like etouffee with a dark roux and did not even look like jambalaya. Forgot to get a pic but it looked like puréed mixed beans. My hubby ate the seafood and left the sauce and rice. It seems this resto is a hit for specific menu items such as oysters on the shell and pan roasts but it is always better to have a smaller menu with items that are high quality than to offer more items that you don't make frequently or well in my opinion. Every time we come to Vegas the Oyster Bar in Palace station is a much stop. We heard about this one at Sunset Station and had to go. They opened at 11:30 so we were there around 12. To our wonderful surprise there was no line and there were actually sit down tables along with their bar area. Now to the moment you've all been waiting for. THE FOOD!! YAAASSS! We got a little worried because a couple things we wanted were not on the menu. We asked the chef and he said he could still make whatever we wanted. YAY!! We started with the Caesar salad which was delicious. The dressing was not to tarty and had a really fresh taste. The bread btw was delicious! My main dish was the Alaskan clam chowder. This was loaded with seafood and had some good size lil chunks of lobster. The crab leg on top was a delicious touch. I like salt and didn't need to add any salt at all. Not because the food was salty but because the flavor was so good you didn't want to change it up. The Mr. Orders a Pan Roast with Pan roast and bouillabaisse sauce mixed together with a medium kick of spice. Ooooweeee!! Yes my foodies it was as delicious as it sounds! The flavor was on point no NOTHING needed to be added. So happy with found this other location. I will say they are both amazingly delicious and worth any wait but the fact that this wasn't a 2/3 hour wait was an added bonus! Chef and staff were friendly and amazing! See you guys again. I'm a fan of Station casinos. We eat and gamble at one or another at least twice a week. The Oyster Bar is probably one of the best restaurants they have on their roster. I want to tell you that this one is not like Palace Station just so you won't come here and crowd it up but to be honest, it is just as good, if not better. Anything that comes from the kettle is going to be delicious. I promise. This last time I came I got the Bouillabaisse for the first time and I was surprised at the quantity and quality of seafood inside. I got really full off of this one bowl of food. Also, the sourdough rolls here are KILLER. I have never had a crab (fresh too) Caesar salad and was impressed with how tasty it was. This was a waiter recommendation and I really appreciated it. The only thing I don't like are the oysters. I know, I know... It's called the oyster bar but I have liked everything I've eaten here except for the oysters. I will say that I am very, very spoiled by oysters. They are one of my favorite foods and if they aren't gorgeous, I can be a bit of a snob about them. I think the raws they serve here are better off cooked. They are the heavy, thick shelled kind that are almost metallic tasting. Since we are staying at the Sunset Hotel for the holidays we are eating out for Christmas Eve and Christmas. We decided to avoid holiday traffic by staying in the hotel for meals. Sunset has a variety of places to eat-from a snack to a nice meal. We decided tonight to celebrate the Feast of the Seven Fishes by coming to the Oyster Bar. Well, it was more like 3 fishes but still good. We have been here a few times-as well as the sister casino, Palace Station- quite some time ago and enjoyed the food. Palace was always our go-to for gumbo but we stay on this side of town now. It was pretty busy and we had to wait for a booth. There were high tables and counter seats-where we would normally sit-but for a holiday meal, we wanted to sit closer together. They cleaned the table we snagged when someone left and brought the placemats that were the menus. They also brought rolls and butter which were pretty good. We ordered the gumbo. It has a rich sauce filled with andouille sausage, okra and your choice of chicken, shrimp, lobster or crab or a special of all 3 seafood. They are all good choices. The chicken may be my favorite. I think it is grilled first because it has a great charred flavor. The andouille is so flavorful and the best part for me, and the seafood is wonderful. Olivia was our server and was excellent. The one cook took a break so she went to get him on our food to get it started cooking since it takes a bit. She was very pleasant and attentive. I recommend the Oyster Bar. The food is very good. I'm still not sure if it is as good as the Palace Station but it is very close. read more

Loved this seafood place when we stayed at Sunset Station. So much so, that I ate here twice. Once for dinner with three others, and the other time for lunch by myself. I was flat-out amazed by the quality and quantity for the price (especially by Vegas standards) Husband and I shared the Sunset Roast with Shrimp, Crab, Chicken & Andouille in a rich Cream, Brandy & Tomato Sauce served with rice. And they bring bread for the table, which is so good dunked in the sauce. I was very glad we shared it because it's very rich, but oh-so-good! (note they do charge $5 to share, but it's better than wasting food, imho). Our friends should have followed our lead because they both ordered the Seafood Jambalaya and left behind massive amounts of rice. When I went back for my solo lunch, I sat at the counter, had a glass of wine and the Shrimp Louie salad and enjoyed watching the Chef perform his magic. We had a nice chat as well. My salad had jumbo shrimp as well as bay ones, lots of good greens and a terrific dressing on the side. At $12, it is a steal for the quality. I never come in here bc my boyfriend doesn't like seafood so I waited for a day when he was out of town to sneak in and get lunch on my own: I got the strangest sounding thing on the menu: pan roast. Wow, the deliciousness! It's basically seafood in a thick and hearty stew type gravy served with a giant scoop of sticky rice. I'm glad I said no to additional bread! I ended up here after Miller's Ale because I really didn't enjoy my dinner there. The Oyster Bar is located in the Sunset Station hotel. It's a decent size place and over the weekend I had the option between sitting at the bar or sitting at a table so I don't think it ever gets crazy busy. I was helped almost immediately once I sat down. I sat at the bar and they brought out bread and butter and a menu. The menu is hard to read so if you wear glasses, bring them or be ready to have someone read you the menu. I stayed at the Sunset Station for two nights and I ate at the Oyster Bar both nights. That's how good it is. The first night my sister and I ordered half a dozen oysters on the half shell. Soooo delicious and fresh. You can't come here and not order oysters. That was just the starter. Then we shared the linguine with clams and red sauce (they offer the option between red sauce and white sauce). Decent amount of clams and the pasta portion was huge. We shared one plate and still didn't finish it. Beware that the linguine has TONS of garlic. I would definitely ask them to go light on the garlic if I ordered that again. On my second night here, I once again ate the oysters. Just as delicious as the first night. Service was still very quick. I decided to give the clam chowder a shot and so glad I did. It was perfect since it was pretty cold out. I ordered the bowl version instead of the cup. The bowl alone likely wouldn't fill you up unless I just have a larger appetite than I realize. The Oyster Bar is the top spot in Sunset Station and likely in that whole shopping area altogether. Take my advice and don't waste your time at other restaurants in the hotel. read more

Gotta love me some Oyster Bar.. and no not the one you are thinking but this is the other oyster bar. I realize the rumors have spread like wildfire that the Palace Casino has the ONE and ONLY oyster bar and that has certainly given them fame and the customers really long lines at ANY time of day. I have been there all times of day (4 AM, 6 AM, 8 AM, 9 AM) and each time I have had to wait a minimum of 30 minutes if not longer. It is a shame as that place was my favorite and had popped my oyster bar cherry back when I was still a Californian. Fast forward to now being a Vegas resident, I had found myself trying to scratch the oyster bar itch but finding less tolerance for waiting in these lines. I did a search at this local Sunset Station casino (all affiliated chains) and found that an Oyster bar existed here as well. I was a bit skeptical but decided to give it a try. First thing is first, this is not 24 hours like the other joint. They have set times so show up accordingly. Second thing, this place is like 6 x bigger than the other joint and they have more than bar seating so if you came with a group you can all sit together. Third thing, there is one knock on this place and that is the service is a bit slow..... probably because they are understaffed as I see this poor lady running around doing everything herself but she was super sweet and friendly. Fourth thing, there is NO LINE that I have seen so far. Crazy..... Now in fairness I have been here always near opening time so maybe that's the reason for no lines so if you are heading over in the afternoon or night, perhaps worth checking for reservations or seeing how long the line is. Now that these basic things are out of the way, the main verdict on food. Its basically really close to the same darn thing with 0 waits. The pan roast is my usual go to and it remains nearly close to what the Palace casino dishes up. I will say that the pan roast here is a tad bit watery but not to make it any less delicious. I also think they might skimp a bit more on the portions of what went into the pan roast but the palace one has too much food for me to finish anyway. The Caesar salad is made fresh as I can see them putting lettuce, mixing dressing, etc. Its solid as always and they have a nice small portion. The oysters have been solid as well. I wish they offered some type of lemon vinaigrette type of thing but that extends to the palace casino as well. Honestly this place is good and with no waits I'll take it every time. Glad that I am finally able to enjoy this delicacy while avoiding the insane lines. read more

The wait was about an hour long, after finally being sat down were told that there is no crab or lobster left..how, when half of your menu is crab and lobster. Ordering anyway, the server needed to be reminded 15 minutes later that we need water and bread. I almost forgot why I disliked eating at this location until today. The quality of food is poor and the service is complete garbage. Save yourself the trouble, go to palace and wait in line -- we'll worth the wait. Oh, almost forgot there was a gentleman at another table that politely asked the current wait time on his and his wife's food and was responded with attitude in front of the entire restaurant. I can not believe that Oyster Bar is so close to me! My sister and her bf always talk about this place. I finally got to try it a couple weeks ago when they were visiting. This place is a hidden gem in Henderson. After my first initial visit, I came back three more times within two weeks. That's how good it is! It's a bar so seatings are pretty limited. They have the bar area if you prefer, and they also have some booths and tables. They cook and shuck the oysters right at the bar. I honestly prefer the booths because they're more comfortable. The wait staff here has been super friendly and attentive. I've tried a few of their items but my favorite is the signature pan roast and spicy level 6. It's the perfect meal for me. My husband loves their steamed mussels and clams. I've also tried their half shell oyster and shrimp cocktails - pretty bomb! If you ever stop by Henderson, I highly recommend this place! read more

Was in a hurry and picked up 4 combo pan roasts to go. We drove the 30 minutes home and realized all 4 of our pan roasts were all raw, one of the orders didn't even have any lobster in it. Called Sunset since Oyster bar has no working phone line and they advised we need to drive all the way back for them to correct it. $125 including tip down the drain, there's a reason we had to take it to go. You can also choose how spicy you want it. You can pick mild, medium, or hot and also choose a number between 1-10. I usually pick level 9 for my spiciness level;) It's not Cajun unless your mouth is burning! I really enjoy the gumbo. It is by far, my favorite dish, here and I find myself craving it as soon as my feet touch Las Vegas ground! It's hard to find a place that makes real good gumbo! The roux is thick and flavorful and the rice that they serve with it is nice and thick and chewy!
