This spot had been one I would drive by for years and came to my mind to try one day we were looking for a breakfast spot to try. Located on the corner of Telegraph & Slauson, diner had a decent sized lot located behind to park in. Service was pretty decent and food was great, in my opinion. Although we were there for breakfast, the many choices of food we could choose from and the fact that there was a bar & grill in the diner (where we could hear people hyped up over the World Cup) has me wanting to come back again. I am impressed with the variety of options they have , they are kid friendly with more options on the kids menu than most places. I recommend the Mexican Chile verde omelette comes with rice and beans. The atmosphere in this place is awesome with picture of famous people from the past such as Elvis Presley, James Dean, and much more. This is probably my second time eating at ozzies over the years- usually I hit the bar, since the bartender is cool peeps, and usually just stop by for a quick meeting. I decided to grab a bite to eat, but because of my limited choices since I'm trying to get back into keto, It was up in the air on my decision for my meal. I went over the menu at work, so I knew what I was leaning towards. I decided on the pork chops with eggs (breakfast option) I wanted them fried, not breaded or baked, and over medium eggs. The waitress asked if I wanted multiple options on the side, and declined, but asked for gravy and tomatoes instead. BRO. My meal was absolutely phenomenal. We had the best meals in a long time... Michael and I were happy we made the trip. Eggs Benedict were perfect. Sauce was butter hollandaise sauce was so delicious. It was like heaven on a fork. Ham was thick and juicy not sodium heavy. Homestyle potatoes made with chorizo (andalé)! Patty Melt was flavorful. Rye bread had golden brown crust, not slammed with a bunch of cheap oil or butter. But with salted butter gently smeared on bun, great texture. The meat patty was so good, high quality meat. Not cheap fast food patties. Chocolate Soda was thrill... you have to taste this. My family and I stopped here along the way to Disney at the request of my wife. The restaurant had a classic diner vibe and the owner greeted us at the door and was very friendly to our boys. We ordered breakfast meals: mine was the country fried steak with eggs and hotcakes, my wife's was the French toast with bacon and eggs. There were generous portions and the food tastes great, but was probably not too healthy ;) Overall, I enjoyed our meal and would come back. Be very careful, this place shows that if you consume more than $ 12 you do not pay for parking, (In Truckstop Webb), IT IS NOT TRUE, CARE is a lie, also if you pay for parking with a card, you pay more than with cash and in addition to that, you pay more than in any other parking place. Jessye came straight to my table for a drink order and brought a menu with her. I ordered a drink and when that came I remembered to ask for a water which also came in less than a minute. The bar was slow but she was working alone and stayed on top of it. Jessye checked on me 4 times in one dinner meal and managed the 5 other people. I asked if people liked the ribs and she said yes. They did not disappoint. The potato was large and had substantial toppings. I am less disappointed my company asked me to park here since 2 of their 4 parking spots were available and she provided great service. I do recommend to anyone and any truck driver. read more

The service here was amazing. The waiters and waitresses were constantly checking up on us and satisfied all our needs (more water, hot sauce, pickles). Not only that, the food was incredible. I had the California omelette with sausage instead of bacon and it was very filling and delicious. My dad got a turkey sandwich and he enjoyed it very much. After so many years driving by here, we finally decided to stop by. I ordered from the specials, I ended up ordering a simple bacon & scrambled eggs with a side of sour dough bread. I think for us it was more the experience with the staff that has been there for SO MANY years. Just to top it off the place was just sold, so many employees feel weird after 20-30 years! Ozzie's Diner is on a busy corner in the industrial area of Commerce. The surrounding streets are full of huge, loud semi-trucks and annoyed commuters racing to get to work. I came here with some coworkers for lunch one day in an attempt to find a decent lunch spot in Commerce. They offer free parking in the back of the building, which is always a plus. We found a spot right by the door. The dining area is dark and musty and the decor is almost as old as the other patrons that were dining here. We were given a big booth near the kitchen. Our waitress seemed uninterested and was constantly looking around the room while we were talking to her. After looking over the iffy choices, I landed on one of their specials, the California pita (turkey, avocado, sprouts, and cheese). The turkey was nothing but deli meats that you can find at your local Vons. There were several... dark spots on the meat that I picked off before taking each bite. The avocado was warm and mushy and the cheese was the disgusting kraft singles crap that shouldn't even be considered "real cheese". The thick fries were cold and even the ketchup was really bitter as if it had long passed its expiration date. Needless to say, I only finished half of my poor example of a California pita. Ozzie's has a dark and depressing dining room and the other people that were eating there looked like they passed the prime of their lives decades ago. After we were done eating we came to discover that the "actual" diner is in the front of the building and we were in their lounge area. I think that's even more depressing. In conclusion, our search continues for a decent meal in the city of Commerce. Pass! read more

A lot of my co-workers go to this place for lunch, and have told me great things about it, so of course I needed to check it out myself. Craving a sandwich, I ordered a 57 Bel Air, a cheeseburger with bacon and mushrooms. Yes, I love my burgers with mushrooms. Makes a good cheeseburger, GREAT. What made the meal even better was that i came with seasoned fries and a pickle to much on. Yum. My co-worker got the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, which looked good as well. Then we topped it off with an order of buffalo wings to share. Pretty decent if I do say so myself. The atmosphere of this place is pretty chill. I guess there's two sides to this place, the diner and a bar & lounge. We went to the diner side. Has a bit of a retro feel to it, but the problem with that is that it looked that old too. Instead of keeping this place up as if it looked like I was entering this place when it was just made, it looks like I'm stepping into this place 20-30 years later, and the chairs are worn, nothing is shiny and new looking. Our family has a practice that we do when we are on the road and we can't agree on what we want to eat. Its called "6th restaurant on the right". Yup, GETTIN ALL SCIENTIFIC ON YA but hold on. Since my kids love to argue, we break it up: one picks the number the other will pick the right or left side. Well today, Ozzies was 6th on the right. Thank god, we were kind of scared because through Bell Gardens and into Commerce, there was not a lot of good looking choices. # 5 was Denny's but thank goodness we stopped at #6. It's an old 50's diner which is typically good but can sometimes be expensive for average food. Not at Ozzies, the menu was 4 pages of all fairly priced items and two pages of specials. The hardest part was choosing. I was kind of leaning toward the Monte Christo on the Blue Plate Specials cuz i kind of wanted to soup but when I read that the Ozzie Sandwich [A BLAT with cream cheese in it], I had to try it. I always get fries but today i had to try the potato salad and it was a great choice. My wife had the regular BLT with fruit and my daughter had the Cesar steak sandwich. Looked really good and more than anyone could eat at one sitting. My son had the burger [57 Chevy I think] and everyone was really happy for about $40. The service was good and the atmosphere is cool but I didn't go into the bar area. I will have to try it when I don't have the kids. read more

Okay, I've eaten here four times now and here's what I'm thinking so far. They're either much better for breakfast than dinner, or their meat loaf is just not something to look forward to. Yes, I order meat loaf at places often. It's a comfort food thing. The breakfasts I and my two friends had were quite positive - we walked away happy. Good home fries and good omelettes. A few weeks later for dinner the meat loaf was just kind of sad. Very little flavor in either the meat or the sauce over it. Oh well, at least it was cheap. Today I had a BLT. It was okay. The bacon was pretty good but the rest of the components were only fair. Poor lettuce, and barely any tomato. The servers are the best - so nice and helpful. They make you feel great. WTF I give Ozzie's a O ZERO now Stopped at 11 am went to sleeper to have a quick nap ! 15 minutes later the Old Boy came outside and told me I need a parking permit . Explained that I was taking a short nap and be in in 30 Minutes. Went inside and ate breakfast . Was planning on having dinner around 5 pm then leave for my drop in Santa Monica . Ozzie's menudo is some of the best around. Our friend, who is in his sixties, and tried it last week for the first time said, "it was as good as his mother's" which he said he never made that statement before. You can get a medium or large bowl with either corn or flower tortillas. It's filled with lots of tender tripe. Some in every spoonful. The large bowl keeps me good for 6-8 hours Ask for extra napkins. You can always take some home if you do not finish. It's served right from the pot so it's always hot. I ordered a BREAKFAST croissant and I was given a cold ham sandwich with croissant bread and avocado/lettuce/tomato. When I told the waitress the order was wrong she said that it wasn't and when I asked where the egg was she offered to bring me two eggs on the side. She also didn't know how to spell croissant but apparently I'm the one that doesn't know what a breakfast croissant is. Today was my first time back to Ozzie's in about a year and I do not know what's happened... I usually get their Country Friend Steak and Eggs and today was no different, but I'd be lying to you if I didn't say I was kind of disappointed. Their portions were smaller then I remember and their pancakes taste and look pre-made almost like the frozen kind you get at the market and force feed to your kids. The same goes for that sad little cup of syrup they give you with them on the side. The house white gravy on the steak had zero love in it and the hash browns were forgettable as well. I feel like the kitchen/owner has cut corners with the quality of the food and it just seems a little bland now. As always the decor/service was great and gets 10/10 from me but the food just isn't what it used to be. I hope they right the ship soon or I'm walking the plank and saying goodbye to Ozzie's. Let me preface this review by saying this restaurant was just allowed to open today and was in the process of putting the furniture back inside the building. I'm guessing the abusive asshole yelling at the waitress was either the owner or the manager but, he should be neither! As for the whining , complaining, foul mouth waitress, I lost track of how many times the word fuck came out of her mouth!!! I had the fish and chips and unsweetened tea. The fish had an odd taste to it that wasn't covered up by the chalula sauce (no Louisiana hot sauce). The fries were undercooked but had potential if left in the fryer another minute or two. The menu stated all dinners came with either soup or salad but, neither was offered by Betty Bitch A Lot. When the older "blonde" waitress came in she was loud and yes, complained a lot. She was more concerned about turning YouTube on the television than starting work. The whole time they had the door open and it was cold and windy inside! The do offer truck parking but, it's $25 and the loudmouth boss was bitching about trucks! He even complained about mine then asked if was mine!
