I didn't take a photo but I had a double bacon cheeseburger. Love it! Was so fresh. The server Evelyn so nice as well, she even gave a sample of onion rings as I had asked her how big the serving was. Take a step back to the 50's!!!!! I had a great time all three times I went here. I loved seeing a place keep its original 1950's woodworking, decor, flooring and overall feel. The lounge in the back is right up my alley as far as atmosphere. I saw myself transported in time and it was great! Had a Bombay sapphire martini (dirty) and it was one of the best I have had. The ribeye steak dinner was very price friendly for the amount of food you get and was cooked just the way I asked. Clean establishment, well lit. Came in for lunch. Pastrami sandwich and enchilada plate. The pastrami meat was good, however temperature was close to cold, and had a ton of salt added, too much mustard, but just the right amount of pickles. Served on a French roll not sure if it was supposed to be warm or toasted, it was not. It would've made for a better experience if it was. The enchilada dinner, could've been heated up longer, they were a bit bland including the salsa. The beans were not our favorite, couldn't figure out the consistency. The rice was tender and flavorful. The guacamole was also good. Best part of service was the drink refills, consistent. Otherwise, no follow up on how we were doing or if we needed anything, so we could ask for extra napkins. There was an initial smile though, so thank you. Debating a return. read more

I'm never coming back here. To start off I was told to put my name on the waitlist myself and then after some time I noticed they sat someone who came after me almost immediately. When I went to ask, I was told I had to put my name and I said I did. When the guy (who I think was not a server and was nice) checked my name, it had been crossed out by one of the older female servers (not sure if she was the hostess). That lady was rude and it took me saying something to be seated. Aside from the unwelcoming environment, the food was alright and service was not it at all. No one really checked in unless we asked. However, during my meal, I had to witness a lady (might've been the manager after reading other reviews) talk down and be completely unprofessional to the kitchen staff. She was very loud and proud about it and just simply made us and everyone else feel very uncomfortable. Very unprofessional.... Drving back from LA to San Jose, and I stopped by here to get lunch. Ordered the California sandwich. It had grilled chicken breast, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado slices, and ranch sauce in a sourdough toasted bread. Oh yeah and fries. The sandwich which was scrumptious! The lettuce was crisp, the tomatoes were fresh, the chicken was tender and juicy, and the fries came out hot and crispy! The only thing, I thought, that didn't go with my sandwich were the avocado slices. Some how the avocados didn't match well with the ranch sauce. As far as the place, it has the 50's diner style. Pictures of Elvis Presley, Marylin Monroe, the Rat Pack, James Dean, etc. The service was goid as well. Kinda slow because there were only two waitresses. Overall a good place to eat. read more

This was our second time here and we got some breakfast this time! Ok so I got the ham steak and eggs which came with a THICK cut ham STEAK, 3 eggs, hash browns and either toast or pancakes (I chose pancakes because I was eating with my eyes). So I wasn't even able to finish this feast! I got halfway through with my ham steak, 2 eggs, and a corner of my hash browns and didn't even TOUCH my pancakes! Overall, this place will be a staple for our date nights. I wish I would've gotten a picture but I was so excited and hungry I forgot haha good thing is I was able to bring some of the deliciousness home with me! For someone who has a big appetite, I could have shared this plate. I ended up having left overs. Looks like I'm having breakfast for dinner as well. Service was great. Jessy was my waitress, she checked up on me to make sure I had everything I needed & constantly refilled my drink when she saw my cup was low or empty. She was very friendly & helpful. We came here today because there aren't a lot of options in the area to eat, and this seemed like one of the better options. Upon arriving, there was a large sign blocking the front diner entrance, saying something like, use bar entrance. As far as I recall, it did not say that the diner was closed but the bar was open, which was the case. People going to a diner go for the diner atmosphere. They don't go to be rerouted to a dimly lit and depressing bar for dinner. Sad to say that we tried to give it a chance anyway. We walked inside the bar and there were no employees visible. We walked through to the diner side. We saw a cook and a waitress inside. Neither one of them acknowledged us. We walked all the way over towards the waitress when she finally noticed us and just started pointing rudely back towards the bar without saying a word, I asked her if the diner section was closed, and she mumbled something rudely. When we got back to the bar we were finally greeted by someone but we were already turned off by the entire set up. This seems like a really cool looking diner. I really wish that we could've eaten inside the diner, which is what we came for. I can say that we will definitely never come back here just due to the roof staff, and the situation with the bar/diner. read more

A tale of two different restaurants joined together at the hip. I met a friend for lunch. This place is a gem of the mid-'60s and 70's interiors or mid-century as some call it. It's awesome how it's been kept so well. Period movies could be made here. In the front, there is a classic American diner from the 50's onward, complete with a counter and turquoise seats and booths. In the back, it's like being in a 'Columbo' movie from the '70s. Lots of wood and coziness and there are a bar and restaurant seating in the back. Imagine a hideaway restaurant from the '60s and '70s. Really cool and the bar quality and service are top-notch. As for food, I ordered a bacon, turkey, avocado melt sandwich on grilled sourdough and my friend ordered a salad. My meal was very good. The turkey wasn't the thin, deli kind but a thicker (1/4"?) turkey with excellently cooked bacon (not undercooked and not wood). The bread was grilled perfectly (not faint beige or charcoal). The fries were excellent (steak fries). The quality of the ingredients was very good and cooked very well. NOTE: if you eat breakfast, the omelets are almost all 4 eggs omelets, not the typical 3 egg omelet. Overall, the quality and preparation of the food are really good. It cost a buck or more, but the meal is worth it in quality and cooking. Omelets are 4 eggs, not the usual 3 egg at most restaurants. Portions are good. They have a very diversified menu as well, as the menu is larger than many other similar restaurants. My understanding is this place has been around for quite a while, going back 50 or more years. I like to patronize places like that so we can leave something for future generations instead of wiping the slate always clean. I believe this place is deserving of both discovery and continued support. It's certainly worth a visit. And the food was very good. read more

Worst service ever. Sat down with my daughter and husband, got my drinks and 2 other tables sat down as well. Waitress came by and began to take down the order of another table when we came first. Made eye contact with her to let her know and she ignored me. And proceeded to go to another table to take their order. I thought it was first come first served when sitting down in restaurants. Even after I explained what happened to a someone in charge I didn't get a single apology. People like that make the business shit. read more

This spot had been one I would drive by for years and came to my mind to try one day we were looking for a breakfast spot to try. Located on the corner of Telegraph & Slauson, diner had a decent sized lot located behind to park in. Service was pretty decent and food was great, in my opinion. Although we were there for breakfast, the many choices of food we could choose from and the fact that there was a bar & grill in the diner (where we could hear people hyped up over the World Cup) has me wanting to come back again. Wish I had stopped by this place sooner instead of driving by all these years, but I'm a fan now. read more
