We were looking for a quick breakfast place by the beach and my friend suggested Ozzie's. She'd eaten there before with someone who lives locally and frequents the little cafe. I was a bit skeptical after reading some of the recent reviews, and decided to just order a toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese. My partner, on the other hand, was not influenced at all by the negative posts, and ordered cheesy scrambled eggs and pancakes. I should have listened to my partner, the pancakes were light and fluffy and the cheesy eggs were cooked perfectly. My bagel was nice and deeply toasted, which I like, served with the best.... Philadelphia Cream Cheese. I noted a nice crowd for a Saturday brunch - and the dishes all looked appetizing. My concerns were alleviated completely; Ozzie's was great for brunch; I wish I had ordered the pancakes! I also wanted to mention the excellent service. read more

Back from their winter break just in time for Valentine's Day. Their juices are so fresh. We always get Kitchen Magic, with the best bagels in town. The wait staff has been steady for years which tells me it's a great place to work. So friendly, they remember us after months away. I have been going to Ozzie's for years, there are multiple reasons why this place is getting a 1-star review. 1. Subpar Food Experience: Ozzie's food quality is barely acceptable at best. Being the only diner on this side of the island, they have no real competition and seem to cut corners. The food is greasy, the atmosphere feels outdated, and even the bacon tastes grainy. 2. Chaotic Customer Service: The management and service are a complete mess. I often wait at the front just to let the hostess know I want a table. While she's assisting me, another customer arrives to pay, which completely distracts her. She doesn't ask for help from other staff, and oddly, only she handles payments. After another wait, as shed about to finally get back to me, a 7-person party complete with balloons and dogs bursts in through the front, completely sidetracking her again Because she's the only one handling this for some reason. 3. Inefficient Operations: The overall system feels disorganized and frustrating. The lack of coordination and support among staff has caused me to leave multiple times out of sheer frustration I have been going to Ozzie's for years as I live right down the street, ive always tolerated it because they are the only place on this side of the island that's this close. The food for the price was just average. I understand being on a barrier island, and they have a captive audience. Paid $16 per salad which would have been fine, but there was just not much of it. It appeared to be fresh, and the grilled shrimp was good as well. My wife's house salad was almost all lettuce. Owner inside was very engaging, but our server was not that personable. I waited well over 10 minutes for a refill of my water, and I had to go inside to do so. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. It was nice eating outside, but probably wouldn't go back. read more

I'm somewhat taken back by the number of stars on this place. Ozzy's has been a staple of Longport since I was a kid. Used to stop in when working the area in the early 70's. Don't live or work in the area so decided to stop in with wife to try breakfast on a great sunny Saturday morning just taking in sights along the shore. Recession, What recession from the building going on in Ventnor, Margate and Longport. Wow all near or more than million dollar homes. Still the same Ozzy's. Warmly greeted by waitress and told we could sit at any table with large fresh flower on it. Looking for something different and were pleasantly surprised with Mexican style breakfasts. I ordered the Hueves Rancharos and wife the Kitchen Magic, both Mexican style eggs and tostadas. Mine came with refried beans and hers with the tastiest tomato, onion, cilantro and ham, and a side of slightly spiced salsa. Both breakfast extraordinarily good, but hers was tastier by far. Thank goodness she was able to slip some extra onions and stuff on my plate. Think they should served with toast which I asked for later and was not charged. We will be back. Not really busy so service was fast and friendly. read more

We love Ozzie's! We love their 50s decor, their gallery of old photos of Longport and their food! They are not cheap, but not many places at the shore are. They have lots of outdoor and indoor seating. This morning I took my grandkids who asked for Mickey Mouse pancakes. Although they're not on the menu they were happy to oblige, and I got the most delicious cinnamon French toast with slivered almonds. So, so good! Pleasant, efficient help and yes, they take credit. Ozzie's has ALWAYS had a captive audience in Longport. This is the issue at play here. Plain and simple. I ordered a hamburger yesterday. I asked for medium well and received a raw hamburger. When I finally flagged down my server she told me I had two options. Firstly, to order an entirely new hamburger or different dish or secondly to have the item removed from the bill. I chose the second option and politely informed the server that I would heat it to well and finish the meal at home. I was not planning to complain to anyone. She spoke to the owner who informed her that I would need to hand over the raw hamburger and remaining tasteless and greasy french fries! The server inspected my hamburger and clearly noted that it was woefully undercooked. That request was uncalled for. My father ordered a BLT and received two pieces of turkey and two pieces of overcooked bacon on petite sized slices of bread. Accompanied by the same tasteless french fries. If you, like my father, have found memories of this restaurant be warned that your new experience at this place will not meet your expectations. They are understaffed and disorganized. The kitchen can't read and follow directions. The owner has zero customer service skills. Please, please, please avoid Ozzies at all costs. Server was friendly and polite but not only was silverware dirty, coffee mug had dried egg yolk slopped on the side. Food was not good, and I mean, how do you mess up scrambled eggs and home fries? Another reviewer suggested powdered eggs, maybe that accounts for the peculiar taste and texture. We paid our bill and I left my eggs untouched, a woman who appeared to be the owner, not our server, cleared our plates and asked "too much for you?" I told her I simply didn't like the eggs. Note we had already paid and weren't making an attempt to send something back or get a free meal. Ozzie's Luncheonette is a really good place to get breakfast if you are in the Margate/Longport area. A friend and I went on a Friday morning, place had a decent amount of people there, and we still found a parking space right across the street. it was a really nice day out, so we decided to eat outside, although just a warning, the area outside is on a bit of a slant. Nevertheless, our waitress came right over and recommended breakfast. The whole time our waitress was very prompt to come over, refilled our waters a lot, and was very friendly. My friend and I both got their combination eggs and french toast breakfast, which we were both impressed with. The plate came out in a very timely manner after we ordered. Most breakfast places just slop on your food onto a plate, not here. I was really surprised at how nice the plate looked, they included on the dish an orange slice and some other fruit that added color and made the plate appear more prepared. It's not that this was a big deal or anything, but just goes to show you have a little thing can really go a long way. In terms of food quality, the eggs came out well, and the bacon and sausage tasted good. The french toast was good, but a little dry in my opinion and needed something else to make it special. Portion size was just enough to make me full, but not huge. Price wise it ended up being a little bit over $12 /person, which for this area is pretty decent, especially for what we got. I'd say this place had good service, nice atmosphere, tasty food and beautiful presentation, decent prices. Of all the places I've been to in this area, I'd certainly come back to Ozzie's for breakfast again. read more

Not that much of an outstanding breakfast place. It has your typical breakfast meals and nothing really special. I had the chocolate chip pancakes. They were normal - nothing special. The only thing that was different about them was that the choclate chips were on top of the pancakes rather than inside of them. I am really not sure if I like that better or not. It was different. My friend had the waffle - which she said she did not like (she would have gave the place 2 starts) and her bf had the American omelet which was really a western omelet. He said it was good, but not the best (he would have given a 3 stars). The only thing I would have to say is if you wanted to get in an out at a reasonable time - come early. I ended up here on a whim after the first two places i tried to eat breakfast were closed. I'm glad they were closed b/c it allowed to to find this great breakfast joint. Inside reminds me of an old school meets new school 50s diner. All the walls are painted with a mural. Got a Bacon, Egg and Cheese on an Everything bagel with a side of home fries. I contemplated getting the breakfast burrito but passed. Before our meal came the people at the table next to us received theirs, one of the girls got the burrito. The salsa came on the side in a gravy boat, i saw her pour some out, and I immediately wanted some. It had this nice orange color (similar to a habanero but a little darker) and was not chunky. I asked the waitress for a side of it when she brought my food.....and holy S---, it might have been one of the Top 3 Salsas I've ever had. I drenched my sandwich and home fries with it. Has a nice spice, if you don't like spicy, this isn't for you. I fell in love. Turns out one of the waitresses makes it daily, i was also told she makes a mean green salsa, i will have to remember that for next time. My bagel was toasted nicely, the bacon was crisp and the home fries were well done, exactly how i asked for them. I prefer shredded home fries and these were the small potato bits, but they were so crispy i didn't care that they weren't shredded. Overall, i enjoyed my breakfast here and will be going back just for the salsa. This is now my 2nd favorite breakfast joint down the shore behind Shell's Cafe in Ventnor, which is my favorite breakfast place ever. read more

Ozzie's is one of those Jersey Shore institutions: a place that maybe isn't objectively great, but that you keep returning to because a) you have fond memories of it as a kid and b) there just aren't that many restaurants at the shore. The diner is Longport's only breakfast/brunch place. On the walls are vintage photographs from Longport's founding, which is cute, as are all the grandparents taking little kids out for pancakes. For all the faux-Pleasantville diner atmosphere, though, the food is pretty blah. Portions are bountiful (one omelette feeds two easily), but why would you want that much boring food? Still, if you have kids or houseguests, there are worse ways to do brunch, especially if you get an outdoor table on a sunny day. read more

Anyway the other day I was craving a breakfast sandwich so I stopped by to get one to go. The girl took my order and I asked her where I could find it on the menu. She said I'm not sure I said well I would like to know how much it costs. She looked at the computer and said $8.89 or something right around there and no it does not include home fries. I am sorry but that is just a complete rip off. It wasn't like the girl said oh but we use five eggs and half a pound of bacon even she judging by the look on her face thought it was ridiculous.
