We used to visit this P.F. Chang's location a lot when we also lived in South Bay some time of the year. This is still our go-to place before and after our trips to Catalina island. We visit our family in Avalon often so we love to come in for a quick bite and cocktails. This location is very spacious both indoors and outdoors. A full bar extends to patio area and that's usually where we sit. We love lunch specials and it's actually a lot of food. I usually get some appetizers with Singapore noodles which is my favorite. I love Japanese whiskey old fashioned, most of their specialty cocktails are refreshing and tasty. We'v probably tried everything on the menu and they are so yummy. The service is consistently great. A fantastic restaurant and bar to visit whenever we are in this area! read more

First of all, I had much higher expectations for this so-called high-end restaurant, and unfortunately, it fell far short. We had to track down a waiter just to place our order, and when our food finally arrived, it wasn't prepared correctly and was extremely dry. My husband ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, and I had the Orange Chicken. Honestly, I'm still trying to understand all the hype surrounding this place. Perhaps it's the ambiance and the drinks that keep people coming back, because after a few cocktails, the food might taste better. I normally don't start off with parking, but in this case I am. Valet is available which is a plus. But in this case, it was very unorganized. There was nobody directing traffic, so the cars that were pulling into the driveway were cutting in front of other cars and basically pulling up wherever they could squeeze in. We had to get out and look for someone to assist us, which was not easy. The valet attendants that we were able to locate, were either chopping it up amongst one another, or nowhere to be found. Stopped by after our movie at Cinemark at the Pike as it is located a hop and a skip across the street. I had seen their menu online advertising their special "meals for 2" starting around 40 bucks so decided to give it a try as I had not been in years. It was fairly busy and we had a short wait of about 10 min. Hostess was somewhat friendly but felt forced. We ended up getting an outdoor patio table and our server promptly greeted us and took our drink order (they have drink specials at any time). My friend ordered the Lychee martini (he loved it) and I stuck with a vodka diet coke. The only special we saw on the menu was a five course meal for two starting at 89.95 so we opted for that (it was alot of food). The first course was "chef's choice" which was two sushi rolls; however, my BFF does not like sushi so we asked what else we could order in lieu of. The waiter gave us a choice of two salads or edamame so we chose the salads. Both were like Chinese chicken salad minus the chicken with very lite dressing. 2nd course was your choice of egg drop or sweet and sour soup so we ordered both (I had the sweet and sour and it was a big cup and very good). 3rd course was technically our app so we ordered the chicken lettuce wraps and it was a big portion and tasty. 4th course were the entrees and I ordered the miso salmon on top of some spinach and broccoli with brown rice and my friend had the Mongolian beef with steamed rice. My salmon was a big skinless filet and cooked to perfection. The broccoli, however, was still crunchy and not cooked thoroughly. Everything was tasty. For the 5th and final course, we chose this banana spring roll dessert with pineapple coconut ice cream. The bananas were fried such as crispy spring rolls are and sliced lined up like the USA flag with blueberries, strawberries, and the ice cream. It was very good and not too sweet. As for our servers, our primary one was ending his shift and seemlessly transferred over another server and both were very attentive and sweet (they provided excellent service). We visited for Mother's Day and the restaurant leans more fusion than traditional Asian cuisine. We ordered the egg drop soup, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, salmon, California roll, spicy tuna roll, and egg fried rice. The California roll and spicy tuna roll were the highlights of the meal. The egg drop soup was a little salty. The salmon was decent as well. The egg fried rice, however, was somewhat soggy and lacked the texture we were expecting. Portions are on the smaller side but still shareable. Service was noticeably slow during the Mother's Day rush, though the staff remained polite throughout the experience. If you're looking for a more modern fusion-style menu rather than traditional Asian flavors it's a decent spot. read more

I'm a huge fan of PF Chang's! This location is close to my office so we often order takeout but I've also eaten inside. There is paid parking in the lot as well as valet. They have an outdoor patio and very clean restrooms. The bartender was very friendly and attentive when I ate at the bar. I ordered the salmon and it was really good. I also tried the butternut squash dumplings and they were just ok but the miso sauce that came with them was delicious! The green beans are one of my fave things on the menu and I love the fried rice! We didn't get any soy sauce with our last order, so that was a bummer for my overall experience. However, I will def order from here again and I'm excited to try something new! read more

Not usually a PF Change fan but I wanted some good ribs for lunch and Famous Dave's just wasn't bringing the vibes so I tried PF Changs. Nobody at the bar but the restaurant had some business so I stopped in. Looks cleaner than Famous Dave's so that helped me settle in. I ordered the dry ribs...Northern Style St Louis Ribs and had a big beer while I waited. The server brings me six beefy ribs under a glass smoke holder and unveils these ribs. I'm going to chalk this up as an off night for Chang's because our date night was a flop from start to finish. Honestly, it was comedically bad. We had dined here recently and got $40 in gift cards as part of a promo to use on a future visit, so we came in excited to redeem them. It was a busy Saturday night. We ordered waters and a refresher for my boyfriend, plus the chicken lettuce wraps, popcorn chicken, and the Chef's Feast. We love that deal, so we were looking forward to it. Thirty minutes later, our server let us know the bar didn't have the mix for the refresher. The lettuce wraps arrived, but after a few bites we realized it was tofu, not chicken. Still good, and honestly impressive that it almost fooled me, but not what we ordered. The popcorn chicken was juicy but missing the seasoning rub entirely, so it fell pretty flat. Our server kept saying she would clear plates but never did. Eventually she brought out a random bowl of shrimp fried rice as an apology for the wait and told us our entrées were being plated. About 20 minutes later our chicken and shrimp entrées arrived, and both were delicious. Definitely the highlight of the night. We reminded her about our two sides of lo mein, and she said they were making a fresh batch. After another 25 minutes and a second reminder, the noodles finally came out and were basically plain spaghetti. No seasoning, no vegetables, nothing. At that point we were just ready to leave, so we didn't complain. When the bill came, we found out the Chef's Feast is excluded from the gift card promotion, which would have been nice to know upfront. To her credit, our server was apologetic and mentioned they were training new staff and that it's not usually this unorganized, but new staff on a packed Saturday night probably isn't the best idea. Service was just ok. I'm not deducting stars for that. The food is just ok as well. But for me, that's personal opinion, so no stars removed for that. My issue is the cleanliness of their establishment. The place is dirty. There was food on the floor where I was seated, food under the table, food in the chairs, and only the actual table looked wiped off. What's worse is that I wanted to sit inside to avoid flies and bugs. But guess what, there were flies and mosquitoes constantly coming around the food because the restaurant wanted to leave their patio door open. What's worse than that, yes worse again, there were pigeons inside the restaurant. Pigeons eating the food off the floor, walking all around the restaurant, and I even saw one fly so close to a table and the food on that table that it was within arms reach of that customer. Worse again, I saw pigeons eating on the customer's tables that were sitting outside. They chose to sit outside but it made me wonder how clean the tables were and if the workers actually used a disinfectant cleanser. With food left on the floors and chairs, I couldn't help but wonder how dirty everything else was and if birds were on the seats and tables inside the restaurant, prior to us being seated. I used to think this was more of an upscale restaurant. At least slightly. But having this level of cleanliness, mediocre service(not a problem just a statement), and food all over the place because they didn't clean it. It's disgusting. And the reason I'm mentioning the service is because it's not good enough for the type of restaurant this used to be. It's fine for a fast food drive through or something more basic. But not once did the server come to ask if we needed drink refills, if everything was ok with our food, and typical restaurant things like that. Like I said, it's more like fast food level of service. Servers weren't rude. Just not good at restaurant customer service. But they need to clean up after each customer and not let unsanitary animals walk and fly around their place. Side note, you have to pay for parking. Stopped in for a large party business lunch yesterday. The review is worth two stars just for how seamlessly they handled a party of 12. Kudos to management for that. All dishes came out fast for the apps. Drinks were always refilled. The main dishes were hot and everyone got what they ordered without a hitch. The apps were fine. For the table we ordered edamame, chicken lettuce wraps, tempura fried green beans and crab wontons. All tasty enough. The one star goes to the main dishes. I was deciding between the orange chicken and the miso salmon. I went orange chicken because how could you possibly go wrong. Well I will tell you. We recently celebrated my mother's 87th birthday at P.F. Chang's in Long Beach, and while the food was very good as always, the overall experience was deeply disappointing. When making the reservation, we specifically noted that this was a special birthday celebration, yet it was never acknowledged once during the evening. What upset us most was the way my elderly parents were accommodated. My parents are 87 and 96 years old, my mother is in a wheelchair and suffers from Alzheimer's, and despite there being many open tables in the front of the restaurant with a much better view and easier accessibility, we were seated all the way in the back. The booth we were given required them to actually step up into a high booth seat, which was extremely difficult and uncomfortable for them. Watching my elderly parents struggle to get seated while more appropriate tables sat open nearby was honestly heartbreaking and felt incredibly inconsiderate. The service throughout the evening was simply indifferent. No one seemed aware of or sensitive to the challenges elderly guests with mobility issues face, especially during what was meant to be a meaningful family celebration. I am not writing this to be cruel, because we have always enjoyed the food at P.F. Chang's, but I do hope management encourages more compassion, awareness, and better judgment from the hostess and waitstaff when accommodating elderly guests and families celebrating important occasions. read more

My family and decided to eat here last night, last minute indecisive choice but don't regret it. It was a Friday, day before Valentine's Day, prime time and we walked in right before the rush. We were greeted and seated immediately. I'd say the staff here is definitely on top of their game. Our waitress did a fine job but I didn't catch her name. As a family dinner I do think it was a little too dark in the restaurant but that's only because we had little kids, it did give a more romantic and intimate feel. Usually I'd order the lettuce wraps as an appetizer but we went with the spicy tuna roll and it was fresh! I'd give it a 7/10. For entrees we ordered black pepper chicken and Mongolian beef, chicken teriyaki and two sides of rice, one white and one brown. I'd like to say that the black pepper chicken was good definitely hit the spot, I feel like the Mongolian beef was just overwhelmingly filled with green onions and less meat and the kids teriyaki plate had nice portions. I read somewhere on a negative review that this place is just an upgraded version of Panda Express, I'd have to disagree but even then we are still big fans of panda too! We didn't realize till before we left we basically ordered the fixed menu for Valentine's Day which was a great value minus the dessert! Aw man. Both times I ordered one of my personal favorites- Signature Lo Mein Combo (Chicken, Shrimp and Beef)- with the following- deletion/extras on their order form- no carrots/no bean sprouts and extra reminisce mushrooms- well worth the approximate $20+ taxes/service fees. On this last order- I ordered a side of noodles as well. It was a bonus that 2 portions of steam rice was in the bag (call if your specific location will provide this). Again I ordered for delivery but in the past visits at both this location and Torrance- the ambiance for in person dining was excellent. Side note- sign onto their website and join their Rewards program- one benefit is the month of your Birthday- you'll receive posted to your account- a code for a free dessert and/or a selection of an appetizer. I normally- if allowed- choose their Northern Style Pork Spare Ribs (it's a Dry Rub). As always my experience with these two specific orders- were a good portion in addition to a very tasty meal. I ordered the Mapo tofu, which was flavorful and comforting, with spinach adding a nice touch. My friend ordered the Mongolian beef, which was incredibly tender and savory. There was a small mix-up with portions: when asked about shareable sizing, my friend selected that option while I ordered an individual dish, but the plates came out swapped, they received a much smaller portion, and I ended up with a much larger serving of tofu. During that time, we watched other tables around us get greeted and served without any issue. The two employees at the front were busy joking and having conversations instead of checking on tables. When I asked to speak with the manager, Myra, she asked where we were seated and I had to physically walk her over to show her. I explained that we had been waiting over 25 minutes just to place an order. She admitted that it wasn't okay and said there was supposed to be someone covering our section, but she couldn't find that person. What made it even more frustrating was that the tables to our left and right were being served normally, so we were clearly overlooked. I arrived at one of my "old faithfuls" with only about 30 minutes to get a drink and app, before a show at The Comedy Store across the street. I sat at the bar per usual, and it took a while for the bartender to acknowledge me and offer service. They were pretty busy and it appeared that he was the lone bartender for the whole establishment. Not good. However, he finally asked me for my order and I asked him for the quickest app, which he suggested the lettuce wraps. They now offer half portions which worked great for me. I ordered an espresso martini as well. The martini was OK, but if you like sweeter drinks, this could be your jam. I would ask for it "less sweet" next time. The lettuce wraps came out pretty quick and were good. I am old school I guess, cause I remember they used to offer a customized sauce for the lettuce wraps. I recall being asked how spicy I wanted the sauce. Well, no more. They bring out a sauce and I asked for the mustard to add to it for my desired level of spiciness. This is a place I will continue coming back to as it's a staple, but I do feel they could make some improvements. I enjoy the bar area the most, always good vibes and I love the open air when the roof is retracted. I don't know what happened to P.F. Chang's, but it has really gone downhill. I used to really like it here and was excited to go back on Labor Day with my family, but the food was so disappointing. Everything tasted like frozen food, the fried rice was bland and the crispy honey chicken was just nasty. Overall, the food was mediocre at best, and honestly any hole in the wall Chinese spot would have been way better than this. Even the special "mystery sauce" they used to bring out for your food wasn't the same. Now you have to ask for it, and when they finally brought it, it didn't taste right at all. However, we ordered from the dinner special menu, which advertises "generous individual portions," but what we received was closer to a child's menu portion. Definitely not generous. I had the steamed rice with Honey Crispy Chicken and 1 veggie spring roll. It was fine, but nothing memorable no wow factor at all. We sat at the bar and our server Andrew, who is also the bartender served us. He seemed irritated to be there. He was not friendly. He did not smile, and it made our experience uncomfortable. He really gave us the impression that we were imposing on his time.. however the surrounding females that were black were very attentive, funny and engaging. They actually made the experience more pleasant. One of the ladies took time to talk to my mother and I thought that was really sweet. For us it's all about the overall experience. And unfortunately, Andrew did not provide that for us. I hope P.F. Chang's Get management this review and talk to Andrew to be a little bit more attentive and kind to the customers. A little staycation during Memorial Day weekend. After a fun, but long boat ride we arrived hungry. Service started off fine, but it took nearly 20 minutes between appetizers and our main course. We were still enjoying ourselves at this point. The bigger issue was when our guest's child was served orange chicken instead of the teriyaki chicken she had ordered. When we pointed it out, rather than apologizing, our waiter repeatedly "argued" that it was teriyaki chicken. I'm not sure what PF Chang's considers teriyaki, but if a dish is sweet, citrusy/sour, and literally comes with orange slices, it's not teriyaki. Even more ridiculous, the kitchen server who brought the dish to the table initially called it orange chicken, only for our waiter to later insist it was teriyaki, goodness!! Getting an order wrong is one thing. Refusing to acknowledge it and essentially telling customers not to believe what they're seeing and tasting is another, gaslighting at its finest. A simple apology would have solved the problem. Instead, we were met with excuses and denial. We paid for a meal and left very frustrated. Not because of the mistake, but because of the complete lack of accountability or the way they escalated the issue. We are a heavy tipper 25% on dinners like this because we understand it is not easy to be in the hospitality biz. And we never want to be that customer. One time I had a bad experience at this place. Not this exact place but at a link that belongs in the chain of these restaurants. And it was not so bad, I just had their fare and I was underwhelmed and I swore never again. I can be a snob, though. But then I went to this place, to this exact link, because I wanted to support a staff member with a visit. I was happily surprised that this place had elevated its experience but still it had not become a place I must go again. I will go again if the mood and conditions are right, but, I am not experiencing a longing to return. I know now where to get cost-effective drinks, and some good(ish) eats when my budget does not have the capacity to fit better. My partner in adventure for the night was Monica. She is more easily satisfied than me. I am the wise diva of the duo. Do not think of us as Pinky and the Brain, or Batman and Robin, think of us more as Miranda Priestly and Andy. You know from the movie, the Devil Wears Prada. However, my hooves and tail are only evident when we enter spaces of dine and hospitality. Other than that our pair dynamics are as follows: I am the heart and mind of the pair, and she is the wheels and witness. When we first entered I saw some posted that introduced drinks for weekend vibes: Mojitos (maybe Mai Tais) and Margaritas. I am sure one of their offerings was Margarita's the other one had rum, so it was either a Mojito or a Mai Tai. The drinks were 8.99 each. That is actually a price drop, other places have cocktails that are at least 14.00 She ordered a Margarita. I ordered the rum drink. I did not like mine. I stirred with chopsticks and it was better but I still tasted the burn of alcohol. The bartender, Andres, made it better by adding more simple syrup. After I could happily drink with caution abandon. She and I each had four. At their reduce price, it was a guilty pleasure not necessarily a splurge. She and I had edamame and lettuce wraps. Both were great, in a standard way. I asked for more lettuce wraps, they never seem to be enough, unless you really heap chicken on lettuce. But lettuce cups always seem to flimsy to handle the job. She wanted more sauce but she did not think to ask, or was to shit to ask. We then ordered the ribs and the fried chicken. The ribs were also good, in a standard way. The fried chicken was the miss of the night. I asked for the sauce to on the side. I tasted it, and it was spicy. I was told it was not going to be. But it was. The chicken was fried but a little burnt in taste, like the oil did not crisp the chicken to heaven, more like it crisped like the sun of the desert effects open skin. This place is definitely a solid place for drinks and food. The flavors are Asian inspired not Asian evoked. The service was friendly, and attentive, not overly formal.
