Just because a restaurant is part of a chain does that mean the its standards and quality should be expected justifiably lower then that of a privately owned restaurant? I never really understood this theory, and yet find myself still saying "well, it is a chain, what do you expect". I guess I expect at least the food I ordered and paid for to be in my take-out bag without having to look inside (again, is this my fault for now looking to see if they included my extra sides of fruit and vegetables?). The location at the mall makes thugs convenient with easy access and lot of parking. On the few occasions (about 5) that I've gone here the staff have been professional but quite often stark and cold, showing no interest in their customers but just getting orders taken care of and quickly moving on to the next table. The food was mediocre. The shrimp was good, the snap peas-excellent, but the rest was really just dried up chicken, white rice that they burnt in a wok with some sauce sauce leaving it mostly white still- and yet calling it "fried rice" and portion sizes were not that impressive for the cost you may. Oy! My family asked where I wanted to go for my Birthday dinner and I usually choose a local restaurant not a chain restaurant. I've been to P.F. Chang's twice before and had a great experience. Well that day it all changed. We had reservations for 6:30 and the 7 of us were seated on time. Waitress came over for drink orders. 20 min of not longer before we had 2 beers and one cocktail, a few waters and smoothies. Mind you they also had an issue with the draft beer so only bottled beer was up for ordering. We ordered appetizers one order of lettuce wraps and 6 soups. 40 minutes at least before those arrived. Lots of apologies from the waitress and statements of just a bit longer....and longer and longer. Made the mistake of waiting to order our meals until the apps came because usually things come out fast and then you have all the food at once. Big mistake...huge. Apps were good no complaints. Dinner took forever. I stopped tracking time. It was painfully long. Waitress told us that corporate plans the schedule off projections on how busy they will be and that they were short staffed. I saw 2 different couples sit and order at the bar after we had sat by 20 min and eat and leave before we even had dinner. Same with 2 other parties. We are pretty patient but it was really just unacceptable. The manager was running around delivering food. I saw him come out and drop someone's diner and I laughed and said ugh that was probably ours. Our food comes minus one dish, the dropped one and we were informed it was the second time he dropped it. He was apologetic but so stressed that it didn't feel to genuine. My Mongolian beef was tough and chewy nothing like I've had in the past. Most definitely not worth the wait. We did have dessert and that was good. Over all for the price of the dinner and the quality of food and service I'm not sure I'll ever want to go back. It was super busy with Grubhub orders and possibly they can't handle that and take care of the customers in the dining room. The last part would be the cleanliness of the restaurant . It was a hot mess, the worst part was the floor. My sandals actually stuck to the floor and made horrible smacking sounds as you walked. YuckHappy Birthday to me! Ate here for lunch today. Have always liked P.F. Chang's but after todays visit for lunch I have changed my mind. We were promptly seated. Then waited 10-15 minutes before even being acknowledged we were there. A middle aged waitress stopped and asked if anyone had helped us? When we said "no" she said you are not at one of my tables but let me take your order. Shortly after the waitress responsible for our table came by with the food order and apologized for missing us. My wife ordered Egg Drop Soup which was fine and served promptly. She also ordered the Veggie Lettuce Wraps. I ordered the Mongolian Beef off the Lunch Bowl Menu. When they brought the Mongolian Beef bowl it was a bowlful of rice with a smattering of Beef and Scallions on one side of the plate. My wife said "there must be more beef and scallions underneath." There was not. I counted them, there were 8 itsy, bitsy pieces of beef....most very small and fried to a crisp. I could not believe how tiny the portion was (other than the rice.) Both servers stopped by and I inquired "is this a normal serving size?" The waitress said yes and went on to say "the kitchen weighs everything." Sensing my dissatisfaction the elder waitress asked if I'd like something else? I ordered the Lettuce Wrap with Chicken and they took the Mongolian Beef away. (I ate one piece of beef and it was hard as a rock.) The Lettuce Wraps came and while tasty.....the kitchen was having a bad day. Much like the overcooked Beef that were little hard triangles, the Chicken portion of the lettuce wraps was again fried or cooked to a crisp and diced so tiny one could easily understand how it would be overcooked. On the positive...my wife enjoyed her Soup and the Tofu Lettuce wrap she ordered. To compound things the bill came and I paid it and left a tip. Our service was poor and our young waitress was devoid of personality. She looked and behaved as if she hated working and being there. When thank you and words are delivered with no emotion and no eye contact they are not meant. Yes I'm older but I'm appalled at some (not all) of today's youth who seem devoid of manners, common sense and personality. When we got to the car my wife asked "how much was the bill?" She looked at the receipt and of course we were charged for the Mongolian Beef that was returned. I was pretty disgusted with the service and the food and at that point didn't bother to go back. Where to begin. We are on vacation. Were we live the PF Changs is well managed with good food being a chain restuarant. Ok. We were told there was a 25 minute wait on a Wednesday night and a view of several empty tables. Ok maybe short on wait staff. We were seated in 15-20 minutes. We ordered drinks that were delivered in good time. We ordered our meal and appetizer. Waited for several minutes no appetizer arrived. While waiting we are overhearing many apologies to other patrons. From we have a large table, waiting on dishes, glass broke into the fried rice etc. We had a great view of the kitchen and were concerned about staff handling food with hands after wiping brow, drinking over food prep etc. Si I believed a glass did break onto fried rice. New fried was being made. We had appetizer Plates. That's it. Ok meal comes before appetizer as they forgot. The fried rice was wet, white rice with carrots and eggs. Did not taste same as other fried rice we have had. Now we had to eat our dinner on the small plates. They did not have dinner plates or serving spoons. One set of Chop Sticks to serve ourselves the meal. The came the appetizer. This too was not made well. Everything just seemed undercooked and cool. We noticed other meals sat for long time so we expected the meal to be luke warm. We decided there is poor management and inexperienced cooks. Also, maybe the dishwasher was broken thus the reason for no dinner plates and serving spokns. Read other reviews they are consistent with how our dinner went. I would not recommend this place. Our food was ok but it didn't have much seasoning. It seems they rely heavily on dipping sauces to make up for that so customers who like spice can add it but it does take away from the authenticity of the food when those traditional flavors are missing. Our Peking duck only came with the onions, not with the other vegetables it usually has. Plus they gave us white rice instead of brown. Even so, I'd give this place another try. read more

I picked up approx $100 of take out yesterday after driving 80mile round trip. fried rice, northern style ribs, Kung pao chicken, ginger chicken, spring rolls. All tasted like reheat & frozen food. Two words. Lettuce Wraps. Sitting in the Detroit airport at the bar, 9/10 customers ordered them. Whatever they do to make that chicken mixture is divine. The flavorful chicken with scallions and crunchy water chestnuts mixed with a little of the side sauce all rolled into a leaf of iceberg lettuce is the perfect combo and dances on your pallet. Our bartender was extremely friendly and attentive. And the Mimosa was nice and strong;) even if you aren't a fan of (American) Chinese food, get the lettuce wraps!! read more

We should have known better partially because I bought a frozen P.F. Chang meal at the grocery store a few months back and was disappointed. A few years ago I thought this was the BEST place for Americanized Asian food but it's just not true anymore. Quality at the restaurant has gone downhill. Unfortunately my son's order was incorrect and his meal came almost 15 min late - after the rest of us were done eating. Additionally the food was luke warm. Flavor was just ok but didn't wow any of our party. No discount for the errors were offered and we didn't ask. Despite the upscale appearance and decor, this location doesn't seem to live up to its hype. There was a wait of ten minutes for seating, even though there were many open tables. The quality of the food didn't seem to justify the extra cost over something from a mom and pop restaurant or even the food court. The rice was dry and some of the vegetables seemed old. This place has a whole vegetarian section that can easily be made vegan. My twin and I got the veggie wraps and two entres. The eggplant entre was my absolute favorite. The Buddha bowl was ok. I would definitely recommend getting those veggie wraps which I'm pretty sure were made from tofu. They were delicious. This place is clearly good for vegans and meat eaters, so I truly appreciated that. Service was nice! He entertained our discussion about why eating meat is bad so I liked that. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and decided to dine at P.F. Chang's. First of all the menus need to be wiped off. Our menus were sticky from previous customers. Next, we started off with lobster wonton and egg rolls. After that, I selected the surf and turf, our son selected the sweet and sour chicken and my husband selected the shrimp and lobster stir fry. I wasn't impressed at all with this location. I am from Miami, Florida so when this restaurant opened there many years ago, the food was outstanding. Here, as you can view in the kitchen, no employee had on nets for their hair in the kitchen, they seemed to be under a lot of pressure and when my son received his food, the presentation of the food was messy. The sweet and sour sauce was all over the top of the plate. I told the waitress that it's my husband's birthday, so she said the restaurant didn't sing "Happy Birthday" to customers but he did receive a nice chocolate dessert. My shrimp wasn't all the way cooked and you can taste that this was frozen not fresh shrimp. This was supposed to be stir fried and not even the mushrooms were done. I'm not that much of a picky eater, but if you're spending your money on dining, you want the best or close to it. Got dragged here (I don't really go for Chinese food that often) and I was pleasantly surprised! We got the black pepper chicken, edamame, pad Thai and fried rice. It was really good! What I thought was extra great about this place was the portion size. It's family style but they don't give you an excessive amount of food, which is what I wished more places would do. Does anyone know what the PF in PF Changs stands for? After eating here, I'm convinced that it stands for "Phat Fuck." And not "phat" as in "Damn girl! Yo' booty look phat in dem jeanZ!" or something like that. I mean "phat" as in "Dammit honey, your bottom looks phat in those jeans." I feel like the latter whenever I eat a meal here. Between the multiple ladles of oil that go into every dish to the through-the-roof sodium content, it's clear that this is not the place to come if you're on a diet. I'm not on a diet, but I tend to be very selective when it comes to highly caloric meals, so I tried to choose wisely the last time I was here. Internet research noted that the Chengdu Spiced Lamb was one of the healthier selections on the menu, just as long as you only eat 1/3 of it (it's about 1060 calories per plate), so I got that. It was salty as shit and very one-dimensional. Very cuminy, with no noticeable freshness from the mint or tomatoes supposedly contained in the dish. My father got the Mongolian Beef, which was oily but edible, and my mother got the Crispy Honey Chicken, which was by no means authentic, but well-fried and decently sauced. I had no problems with the rice. I rounded up my actual 2.5 stars for this place because the atmosphere, with all the fake terracotta warrior statues, "Asian" decorations, and 90s love songs (can you say "Gin Blossoms"), wasn't as horrible as, say, everything at the Cheesecake Factory. Moreover, when I checked-in on my Yelp phone app, I got a coupon for a free appetizer (I got the Red Cooked Street Tacos from the Street Fare menu). Though this fake street food was not as good as real street food anywhere, it was free, and I like free things. Personally, I'd rather go to any hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop, dirty hands, no gloves Chinese restaurant than this place, but when starving after countless hours of shopping at Eastview, this place is acceptable. read more

Ever since it opened, P. F. Chang's Bistro has been our go-to place for excellent Chinese food. We have eaten there literally dozens of times. Always good food and excellent service. About a month ago we went with our daughter and her family. What a disappointment. The waitress didn't seem to know what she was doing, the food took a long time to be served and was cool when it arrived at the table. They were "out" of wanton soup. I love Kung Pao Chicken and usually order it along with other dishes. When it arrived, there were no peanuts, one of the main ingredients. I passed it off as an off night for the wait staff and the kitchen staff, too. Tonight we went back. A different waitress this time but again service was slow. Again, I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and again it arrived without peanuts. When we pointed it out, the excuse was first that they had "run out" of peanuts, then that the orders had gotten mixed up, even though the other dishes were correct. No serving spoons were provided, even after we asked for them. On the surface everything seems to be in order there, but there is something seriously wrong at this restaurant. In the past a manager was always roving, checking customer satisfaction and making sure the operation was running smoothly. No manager in sight anymore. We have a gift card that we'll use when we are at a P. F. Chang's in another city. It will probably be a long time before we go back to this restaurant, though. Extremely disappointed! read more
