I ordered the veggie lo mein via door dash. Food was packaged nicely with strategies in place to avoid food tampering. They had certain dishes at BOGO free. The lo mein was 12.00 and you get a second one free. The lo mein was petty lacking of any vegetables aside from green onions iexpected some bok choy, and it was disappointing that they did not have an add tofu option for the protein. All in all, 888 Chinese restaurant is better as far as taste and content. Wouldn't really recommend this place as a go to for Chinese food. read more

Allegedly Houston is the most diverse city in the United States, I find that hard to believe being a native of New York City, but with that being said I'm making it a point to seek out more international restaurants whenever I'm in the city. P. King is not your typical Chinese spot, the restaurant is enhanced with a ton of high tech additions that you don't usually see including LED screens with the menu as well as a kiosk you can order at. It had a lot of space, plenty of seating for big groups and was very clean, I'm sure a big part of that is because no one was inside lol. Service was fine, a young lady at the front of the restaurant let me know I can place my order at the kiosk, it was a simple process it reminds me of the machines they have at a lot of McDonald's these days, you just tap on your order pay for your meal and you get a print out with your order number on it.  Not much human interaction while I was here which I can view as a negative and a positive, depends on what you have going at the time and how technology savvy you are! Food was good, the portions were really big, I ordered the sesame chicken and there was definitely enough chicken for two servings.  I don't think they gave me enough rice though, but I would rather have more chicken if I had to choose between the two.  You can tell the ingredients are fresh, a lot fresher than your typical chinese spot you can really taste the broccoli, it is not swimming in sauce.  All that being said I think it is way overpriced, even with the portion size it is not enough to justify what I paid for it but I guess you get what you pay for between the size and the fresh ingredients. read more

All the food was really good. We got vegetable lomein, kung poa chicken, steamed dumplings and crab puffs. My favorite item was the crab puffs. I don't think they actually contained crab - which is how I prefer them. They fried to perfection with a sweet cream cheese filling, loved them!! I had wondered in the review for the Shepherd location why another P'King had opened nearby in Montrose when it was a mile or two away. After a year of late night deliveries, I think I have my answer without questioning their business model. The food here, both Vietnamese and Chinese, is consistent with the other locations. Portions are large and the food is tasty. The main difference is the late hours. This Montrose location closes at 2am in line with the nearby bars even though they open at the same time at 11am. Lately, I have had a hankering for tofu banh mi's. Even though the baguette is not classic in taste or size (it's huge), the ingredients still come together well. I'm not sure if it was that week, but I think P'King pickle their jalapenos instead of dumping in a fresh one. The result is a sandwich that doesn't have the traditional sharp bite. The jalapeno just blend in with the carrots and radishes. I don't seek out heat but other people may object to this. read more

Glad this place exists in Montrose. Decent American Chinese food and open till 2 or 3 am. This could be your go to Chinese spot for takeout that is not Schezuan heavy (we seem to have a lot of those in Houston). It's a small spot with a big menu with all your Chinese takeout classics. I've had the lo mein, Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, orange chicken, salt pepper shrimp - all of decent quality for to go food. I wouldn't compare this place to your favorite mom and pop spot in Chinatown, but if you're craving a quick and easy takeout Chinese grub this is your spot. P King is the real deal! The flavor of the entrees here is what I picture the takeout ordered on sitcoms tastes like. I love the wonton soup, the chicken and broccoli, the chow mein, and the egg rolls. Each dish is full of flavor and they seem to be always running some kind of Buy One Get One special. I ordered Gen Joe's Chicken and House Special Fried Rice with two egg rolls. I asked for extra sweet sour sauce and soy sauce. I did not get either. Although the service was great, the food was not. I was suspicious about the fact that they served both Vietnamese and Chinese food, I learned today that I should follow my instincts. I spent $22 plus tip equaled $26 wasted on a horrible tasting lunch. I had no idea this was a chain restaurant, but I knew I was in trouble when the bag did not feel or smell like past purchases of Chinese food. I have been to the location on Shepard several times over the last several years and enjoy the food and service. I've picked up to go from the Westheimer location. Food never disappoints. Today I chose to dine in at Westheimer location. Which will be my last visit. The staff were uninterested in being there. I asked for a fountain drink and the guy pointed to a drink fridge - no words, or at least I did not hear any of they slipped through barely pursed lips. The radio was so loud, too loud. Felt like a club, but not in a good way. That drink fridge, had one Dr Pepper, three bottles of water and half a shelf of Diet Coke- what the heck. I even had to grab my own table caddy with sauces and seasonings after my food was delivered. A bit petty I admit, but still frustrating that my soup and meal were delivered together. Ordered my food to go and my daughter was too hungry to wait till we get home (like 40mins away) so brought her plate out to eat there and the Asian lady and another guy there were not so happy about that. She asked me if I was eating there and I said yes we are and she seemed upset. The service was terrible we have better customer service at McDonalds! reading the comments I was a hopeful, with the mixed reviews I was also concerned. I called for a takeout order for lo mein and kung pao chicken. It took 15 min which is fine. When I went home, it smelt weird out of the box like someone had farted on it. When I had opened it it was CHUNKS of what looked like thawed chicken, chunks of carrots and celery. It was so bad. Taste test? Don't even ask. I had 4 bites and my man had to tell me to go brush my teeth & shower before I touch him. Now probably 30 min later my stomach is growling and I feel like I have to HURL. Best egg foo young! Huge pancakes loaded with veggies and your protein of choice. Not dripping with excess oil like I've had elsewhere. ! Egg drop soup, hot and sour soup , veggie egg roll , veggie lo mein, fried rice, vegetable soup, crab puffs, tofu bun, tofu bahn mi, edamame, stir fried mushrooms . Let me start off with i ordered food from them through uber eats. My delivery driver was great asked if i needed anything extra or anything else. I asked him if he could ask for utensils and limes, he texted me back saying that the lady said that it'll be extra money for utensils and limes so he didn't get any which was fine with me. Charging for UTENSILS IS CRAZYYY like be so for real. He delivered my food on time and i proceeded to open the bag and my thai tea literally spilled in the bag that it was in. I got my refund from that. Then i ordered the chicken pho, which mind you if you eat pho you know what it's supposed to look like and i love pho and i always get it. I took a bite of the chicken it was fine but bland... very bland then i see the noodles. The noodles were thick like they were overcooked but they didn't taste good they had a kind of smell to it, or maybe it was the chicken. I dug to the bottom of the bowl and i literally found lettuce in the pho bowl. I was too stunned to speak. Like seriously. I will never buy from here again waste of my money. Visiting Houston. We ventured out for a late bite. I saw this place in passing and decided to stop in. Horrible service from the door. I should've turned around, but i told myself to be patient and see what happens. An Asian man and two women acted as if I was bothering them and were prettymuch uninterested in taking my money. My Husband went to Trill Burger down the street. I should've done the same. I noticed others received warm professional greetings, and questions were answered with a smile. I stopped in because I wanted something lighter to eat. Ordered 2 orders of shrimp and chicken spring rolls. They come with peanut sauce. The rolls appeared to have been rolled by someone practicing.
