P Terrys, one of my favorite place to pig out for cheap! There are some better things about P Terry's versus In-N-Out and some things I like less. Here are the tradeoffs once that new In-N-Out opens on the Drag! Positives (+) - Hands down, better fries. Their fries are the perfect blend of crunch and juicy interior. I love dumping pepper on it and getting a bigger kick :D - Their shakes! They change the flavor every month I believe and I had the Pumpkin Pie one, exactly like it sounds. A delicious pie in liquid form, definitely heavily. They also had an apple spice early which was hella dope. Even if you don't like the current flavor, they change it up often. Negatives (-) - The burgers are just okay, the In-N-Out buns have a better sear and the sauce is better in my opinion. Much more flavor and juicy fattiness. Mostly just my preference. I usually go to In-N-Out but I'm definitely a fan of P Terrys! Their cookies, shakes, and extras are much more dope than In-N-Outs but the burger is just a tad less in my liking. While driving around Austin, I spotted many P. Terry's and was always curious on how their food taste. The exterior of the burger stand is unique and somewhat looks like it came out of a cartoon. The interior is super cute and a great photo spot because of its turquoise walls. The food there is super cheap ($2.50 for a hamburger) and the burgers are smaller than usual. The hamburgers at P. Terry are okay and a little greasy. Nothing really stood out though. The french fries are thin and somewhat crispy. You can tell however that they aren't fresh. This is my favorite fast food place in Austin and has been it for a while. This is one of the cheapest fast food places yet it still is able to maintain its quality. I order a burger with all the regular things on it, fries and a vanilla milk shake and I am always happy. We all have that local hamburger joint we like to go to. In California it's In-n-Out or your standard, typical Whataburger. But when it comes to Austin locals, oh yes...the P.Terry's hamburger stands out above the rest! Angus beef in their meet, fresh crisp vegetables, killer special sauce, smooth/creamy milkshakes and crispy hand-cut fries. It can't get any better than that people. P.Terry's all around Austin is probably one of my top five places to go to get fast food. While there are a couple of locations close to campus by driving, you will be satisfied at any location that you go to. Just be aware that some places are drive-thru only and don't have indoor seating like this location does. One thing that I have yet to try is the breakfast menu. I have heard some good things about it the past couple of months. The only problem is with school and not having a car (will update my review when I've had the breakfast items). Other than that, it's cheap, it's fast, it's food, and it's definitely very good! Go try it for yourself! If you ask me In-n-Out vs. P.Terry's, you know which one I'm going to pick! read more

So this is a little hard to say coming from a lifelong Whataburger fan but P Terry's is really good. I say this because Whataburger often puts way too much salt on their burgers. I do like Whataburger and will continue to go there from time to time but I now prefer P Terry's or Shake Shack. I am a frequent customer at this location and I had no problems for a long time. I enjoyed the food, customer service, and how convenient it was for me. Then, about more than six months ago, I placed an order at the wrong location. I used the online order for pick up and I just picked the location that showed up first assuming that would be the one closest to me. I should have checked but I just ordered and did not realize until I arrived to this location. I had placed my order at the 5900 N Lamar Blvd location. I could not go to the right location to pick it up because I was on my bike and it just wasn't possible for me. I asked the employees at this location, 3303 N Lamar Blvd, if they could just make my order at this location after showing them confirmation that I had ordered as proof. They said there was no way and that I would have to pay there and then get a refund from the other location. That sounded fair so I just paid for another meal and then contacted P. Terry for a refund for the first order at the wrong location. They replied to me MONTHS after I first contacted them and asked me what locations I visited so they could send my "contact information to a member of our leadership team over that store who can assist you with the refund." I replied 7 minutes after I received the email. It had been five months since that email and I still have not received a refund. No one has contacted me since that email. As other people have put, despite being highly recommend I just found it meh. The burger and fries were bland and not very filling. On the plus side it was cheap ($7 for a burger combo) and fast and the restaurant itself was pleasant and not too packed even though it was in the middle of lunch. As one might expect from the ever-popular (and ever-expanding) pantheon of Michael Hsu designed establishments, the newest P Terry's is a Jetsons-like modern and open-lined version of a burger joint. It's a striking view and family friendly, what with the sandbox and large windows encouraging lots of light. This space has come a long way since the days of Hill-bert's gone by, and we're better for it. The burger and fries I had at lunch yesterday were steady as a metronome compared to the original location, and we sat out on the porch to take in a little of a cool day and burger combination. I will say that there are lots of choke points in the way that this place is laid out, so if they're busy you can expect to be in someone's way at least part of the time. Recently, I took a short trip to Austin and had the chance to experience some of the diverse food the city has to offer. Upon browsing for local fast food, I found this place called P. Terry's...upon first look, it looked unique and different than any other burger shack I've ever been to before (and that's saying something since I frequent burger shops). Different doesn't quite cut it; P. Terry's is an amazing burger place that defies the social norm. The food is absolutely amazing; I got the Chicken Burger, with fries and a Cookies n' Cream milkshake. The wait was quite short; I ended up waiting only 5-10 mins. The burger was cooked to perfection, and their secret sauce is an out of this world experience. The fries were also amazing, and the milkshake helped top off the great meal. So I was told this is Austin's version of In-N-Out. Well if that is the case Austin, we have a problem. This place is not good. Just having In-N-Out just last week I have a reference point within close proximity to compare. The two are just not the same. I had the double cheeseburger with fries. I had a friend in Seton hospital, and part of my "Get Well" plan for her involved a vanilla milkshake. I could think of no better place than this P. Terry's location to achieve that goal. Oh, by the way, I picked up a single burger to make up for the fact that it was 4 PM and I still hadn't had lunch. The shake was incredibly thick, even though I walked with it for four blocks in 100+ temperatures. My burger was delicious while it lasted.
