    Nom Nom!!!!

Grabbed some food in Thai Town before heading back to the SFV. Pa Ord Noodles has been in my Bookmarks for awhile so I headed there. Located in the corner of a strip mall, parking at 8pm on a Wednesday was easy. I was immediately greeted as I walked in and asked if I was dining in, or take out. A menu was handed to me to look, and I was given space to decide my selections - I REALLY appreciated THAT! It may seem like a small thing, and the gentleman didn't know it was my first visit, but something as simple as giving time and space to someone walking in to order take away means a lot. For me, it meant a LOT more food got ordered! lol after a couple of minutes he returned and took my order. I was then directed to the register where he rang up my order and I paid. All very efficient as my order went from his POS to the very busy kitchen. He offered me a seat to wait and said it would be about 20 minutes. My Thai Iced Tea arrived first, in case I wanted to enjoy while I waited, but I bravely managed to avoid the great temptation. Many people around, chatting, enjoying food and conversation. Another woman, solo diner, was greeted as she came in and guided to a spot along the long benched wall. Many orders were filled quickly as I waited, but it wasn't long before my order was handed to me. Back at home, in PJs, on the couch, I dove in and BOY, my craving was satisfied. Hubs doesn't go for "weird"(aka anything not pizza, Mac n cheese, hot dog, hamburger, eggs, bacon or ham) so it's rare I treat myself to a solo food binge. The Pad Se Ew with beef delivered on the perfect smokiness and delicious Chinese broccoli in black sauce. The spicy eggplant with chicken was a win with a beautiful balance of basil and red pepper. They packaged up my shrimp & pork dumplings with Napa cabbage and bean sprout separate from the broth and herbs to be added and that was SO NICE! When I got home, I nuked the broth to get it hot and steaming, then poured it over those dumplings and couldn't hide my smile. I also couldn't wait, but the burnt tongue was SO WORTH IT! My side of sticky rice paired deliciously with some of the spicy eggplant, but didn't reheat very well the next day for leftovers, so I should've had that fresh. My bad. Also, it was A LOT of food. I would definitely come back to Pa Ord Noodle again for it's friendly staff, delicious food and easy accessibility. Cheers! "CC"

No frills boat noodles in Thai Town. Went for a weekend lunch. There's a parking lot, but there aren't too many spaces - so be prepared to street park. Went inside - was your normal casual Thai restaurant vibe. Wasn't crowded and sat immediately. Ordered the pork boat noodle. Did medium spicy - was enough of a kick for me to start up a little bit of sweat. The broth itself was very flavorful and there were enough pork bits and meatballs to make it hearty. It's not a huge bowl but I think it gets you full very quickly. I'd say it's on par with the better boat noodle spots like Sapp Coffee Shop and Malai Thai. Would come back!

Pretty solid Thai place, popular for their noodle soup. After ordering, our dishes all came out quickly. They refilled our waters and had good service. The khao soi broth seemed a little oily to me, but the flavors were solid. The noodles were also cooked perfectly.

Ended my weekend camping trip at a popular Thai spot, and this place did not disappoint! I got the khao soi and fried tofu to split with another person. I've never had khao soi before, but I've been craving it after seeing photos of it. It's kind of like a yellow coconut curry with noodles and this crispy fried noodle thing. The flavors were so tasty, and I definitely almost wanted to order a second bowl. The fried tofu was super crispy, and came with this sweet and savory sauce and some crushed peanuts. The restaurant is pretty small, and located in a tiny plaza with very limited parking. That said, the staff there is incredible, and you can tell they treat their customers like family here.

Quick little pit stop before we head to Hollywood Horror Nights to scare our pants off but the only scary things here were the decorations and the spice level. TRUE Thai level spice but I've never been to Thailand. Parking: A little bit tough since this is a small little parking lot but worth it for this little hole in the wall. Food: In general the soup noodles were a little bit smaller bowls but the rice and stir fry noodles were a lot larger - Original Tom Yum - MEDIUM is actually spicy so I would go to Mild if you aren't as wary of spice. However flavor wise was absolutely delicious I could have had 3 bowls of these. 10/10 - Boat Noodles - Loved the flavor of the soup - Pad Thai - One of the better Pad Thai's that I've had in my life. - Pad See Ewe - This one was the sleeper. Usually it's pretty normal at most places but this one seemed so much different for some reason. - Thai Coffee was milky and delicious - Thai Tea was fantastic! Overall, everything was delicious and service was amazing. Everyone was so kind and the food came out pretty fast as well!

8 years later, and this warm place with some eclectic figurines still holds a special place in my heart. The beef boat noodles smacks, the papaya salad is perfection even after all this time. The service remains friendly and quick. My partner tried Khao Soi and they really liked it. It's sweet, but I'm a savory type of guy so I'm sticking with my boat noodles. Never change, Pa Ord.

TL;DR: Food is really good. Portions are smaller than most places though. Made the trek to Thai Town. I'm really into khao soi and this one was good. The curry soup is thinker than I've had at some other places. Almost like a regular curry bowl. We also got the South Sea fried rice. I don't know why but we got mild for both because I haven't been able to handle spicy lately and it was still a little spicy. But I am a little surprised that the portions are smaller than most other places. The bowls are smaller and the plate that had the rice was t very big. The prices are about the same so it's just portion size. A little disappointing if you are hungry. But the food is good.

This place is still a sold 5-stars in my book. I always make it a point to eat here when visiting SoCal. My go-to order is the Tom Yum Noodle with Flat Rice Noodles medium spicy ($16) and it hits the spots every time. Brings me back to my USC days. Sadly, the price has doubled since then, but the flavor is still on point. My family and I were the only patrons on a Wednesday afternoon around 2:15PM. Service was friendly, but not attentive. Not an issue to me, but it may be for others. We lucked out with parking in the lot out front that is share with the surrounding business. Be forewarned, the parking spots are tight.

I've been trying to get some Tom Kha on a Sunday afternoon. We went to several places before and they were closed or kha'less. Pa Ord DEF made my dreams come true today!!! Tbh the tom yummy was good too. 10 outta 5 stars and the staff is souper nice!!

Was in the area and decided to try this spot. Parking can be tough. ood was so but I would like to try their noodle soups if I ever come back again. - Papaya salad: good but a bit sweet. They add alot of fish sauce. - ruce: very dry, felt like we got old rice - green curry: good, curry is not too thick - oad see ew: super sweet. Not sure if this was intended but You would want this dish to be savory instead of sweet.

Really enjoyed our dinner here and will definitely be coming back! They were very accommodating for me as a vegetarian which I really appreciated. Khao soi (4/5): Broth was super rich and noodles were perfectly chewy. I love all the toppings they added as well. I chose the fried tofu as my protein which ended up being a little of the drier side. Papaya salad (3/5): not the best I've had but still very solid. we got no dried shrimp or fish sauce, so that may be why we felt like the flavor was more one dimensional. just hoping for a little more flavor! Service was very good and food came out super fast. Very appreciative of their little parking lot because we were able to park right in front of the restaurant.

Went on a Monday night and got seated immediately. There's a decent amount of seating inside and a parking lot in front. It did start to get more crowded the longer we sat there though. Overall good food and service but a little expensive, which I guess in expected in LA Beef pad see ew: 4/5. I liked the dish overall but the beef was kind of tough which ruined it a bit for me Papaya salad mild: 4/5. Pretty solid but I would probably want to try medium next time instead

We went to Pa Ord Noodle when it wasn't super busy. The food was spectacular and everything had amazing flavor from the Thai ice tea to the food! Probably one of the best Thai ice tea I've had, the flavor of the tea came out so well and it was so creamy. The first dish we had was the beef boat noodle and the broth was this rich almost fermented. I'm not sure how to describe it better, but the flavor was so interesting I would definitely order again. The crab fried rice have this scrumptious wok flavor throughout and you can taste the crab in every bite. The serving size was the most of the rest of the dishes. We also had the yellow curry with chicken and that was some good curry! A good amount of chicken too. The khao soi with chicken had this great texture difference between the soft and crunchy noodles they provide. The broth was thicker and sauce like. It is definitely a little heavier, but great to share. My only critique is that when we were near finishing some items the other items came out one by one in my opinion not in the most timely matter.

This is a review only of their happy hour specifically, not of their ramen, which I have not tried…read moreand can't speak to the quality of. I actually became aware of the existence of this restaurant *because* they had a happy hour sign out in front, advertising, among other things, $4 salmon poke "tacos" (which was definitely actually a tostada, but still), and $3 nigori sake to go with it, which sounded pretty bomb - when I passed by the sign on my way to an event at Death & Co nearby, I took note of it but wasn't interested in food. However, when I left that event, an event I thought was going to provide a lot more food than it actually did, I absolutely *was* interested in food, and remembered that the sign advertised not only a traditional happy hour (open until 6 weekdays, 2:30-5:30 Saturday/Sunday), but also the same prices during a reverse happy hour (8 to close weekdays, 9 to close on the weekend). Given it was, at that moment, just after 8 on a Wednesday, I knew exactly where I was going to get the second half of my dinner from. Funny enough, I will say, the salmon poke that drew me in, was just... good. Don't get me wrong, if I were offered them for free, I'd eat at *least* a dozen. They were quite tasty - also like 2 bites worth of food (so eating a dozen of them would not be remotely difficult to do.) Salmon poke is wonderful, but if I wanted poke, I'd go find a poke place - even $4 felt a bit pricey for the size (they're $6 when it isn't happy hour), so I'm glad I decided to also try their karaage. Their karaage is BOMB - some of the best I've had, honestly. $7 for a 4-piece order of their karaage, by contrast, feels like a very reasonable price, and $5 (during happy hour) an absolute steal. Great karaage, great sauce, super fulfilling. The happy hour on karaage would be enough of a draw by itself - but separate from that, so would the $3 happy hour on sake, including both a regular house cold sake and a nigori. As you can see from the picture, they also intentionally overpour their sake, which is not only a very pretty presentation, but also an impressive amount of sake for $3 (heck, for DTLA, a pretty impressive amount of sake even at their normal $5 price). They also have $6 happy hour shochu/sake/juice cocktails that looked pretty good, though I didn't try one. Service was great, too - sometimes you can tell a restaurant is less excited to serve someone who clearly just came in for a drink and a snack, but that was not my experience here. Verdict is, I definitely want to come back and try their ramen sometime, but I would definitely make sure to do it either before or after their prime dinner hour, to take advantage of happy hour pricing. (And I would definitely get more of that karaage as a side. I will probably also make a point to do so as a snack, subsequent to any future events I go to in the area that end around 8 on a weekday, as well, for as long as that happy hour remains such a draw, price-wise.)

To be clear, you really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants on this street and I recommend just going with whichever one has the shortest wait when you show up. Thankfully we only had to wait about 20 minutes and got a table inside. There were 6 of us and they made us squeeze into a booth built for 4 which was a little annoying but we made it work. I ordered their signature Daikoku Ramen which was very flavorful and filling, just wish there had been more meat! My husband got the poke bowl with salmon and tuna which is a great dish for those on the protein grind. Service was mixed, they brought some dishes out immediately and then others in our group had to wait longer to get their food. Overall food was tasty and I would go back.
