1. Took ten minutes to be acknowledged & offered water. We flagged down a bus boy asking for water as we waited for our waiter. Finally a waiter arrived. 2. The food - ordered a salmon sandwich. There was a small sliver of salmon in each half, a small sliver of avocado & a piece of lettuce, the sparsest sandwich with no taste nor substance. The string bean portion was beyond small, perhaps ten total limp string beans coated in a slimy brown sauce which tasted like peanut butter. Although we asked, when ordering, if the french fries were freshly made opposed to frozen, we were told they were freshly made. However, they arrived as pale cold tasteless nearly raw frozen commercial fries - inedible. We asked for bread. Three one inch crusts resembling stale bread arrived with a pat of butter. We laughed as we thought this ridiculous portion was a joke. The charge for this stale bread was $2.00, outrageous! We departed hungry, overpaid around $35, & went to Sweet Greens! Saw a lot of buzz about this place. Seafood is my favorite and since we can't go out to Malibu this place was worth a try. The check in area everyone including manager were really friendly and pleasant. Walked us in and sat us down right away. Great open atmosphere and warm and cost seating. They did a nice job renovating this place from the old 800 degrees pizza. Let me start by saying that I will most likely give this place another chance. I usually give a place 2 trys before I make up my mind but here's the good and the bad. Waiter was friendly and nice. Thought it was odd that everything recommended was anything but fish but anyhow wanted to try a bunch of stuff so asked the waiter how the miso cod was. At $32 for 6oz portion I was skeptical but the waiter mentioned it's similar to "nobu" miso and if you have ever had that you know the umami and ecstasy that is for a tiny piece of fish. The fish was weird to say the least. Both me and my wife felt a little sick afterwards and not sure if it was cooked all the way. The side of rice and green beans was good although the rice was bland and unseasoned. The green beans were honestly the best part of that dish. It was moist but lacked the flavor and hint of miso that you were expecting. The fish and chips were what you would expect. Flaky and crispy fish cooked perfectly and came with fries and slaw. Fries were seasoned but were somewhat soggy but all in all best dish we ordered. Coleslaw was nice too. Let me get to the taco trio which was by far the most disappointing dish we got. Three separate pieces of fish, salmon, seared tuna and yellowtail wrapped in nori filled with different variations and rice. The rice was the same as miso and was dry and overcooked. Lacked the sumo lace flavor of sushi rice that you would expect that can extenuate the fish and allow the freshness to see through. The worst part was the nori was soggy and you couldn't even bite through it. Basically the whole thing fell apart and was pretty mediocre. Hopefully they correct that. For a seafood spot the fish should be highlighted and this was certainly not a dish that I would recommend. The final thing was the broccolini that was just plain. It lacked the snap crisp that you would expect and most likely tasted like it was pre made and just tossed right before service. Seems like this place is fairly new but has several locations so they probably will work out the kinks of the food and service in the future. Of note, the server never really came back to ask how the food was and I finished my ice tea half way through the meal and no refill was offered so thought that was off but then again we went to an early dinner and maybe it was just an off time. The bar seemed kinda nice so next time I will go for happy hour and try some apps and drinks. All in all a nice location and decent food but I'd say has some kinks to figure out. read more

Absolutely delightful lunch at Pacific Catch. The restaurant is lovely and if you're sitting by a window, you can almost see the ocean. The seating was very comfortable and spread apart so we didn't have a feeling of sitting on top of someone else. Service was impeccable. We had a great waitress and I'm so sorry. I don't remember her name because she really was wonderful. We had the lobster roll, miso soup, taco plate, and everything was incredibly delicious. They were ample portions and since we ate everything, we just didn't have a room for dessert! We will be returning. Parking was very easy. There is a large city lot around the corner with 90 minutes free parking and it's also possible to get parking on Wilshire depending on the time of day. read more

I got the fish and shrimp tacos, the fish was good and nice size and well as the shrimp, not a lot of flavor or seasoning if I'm being honest, the fries needed more cooking very bland. Well the menu looks great but we have been sitting here for 30 minutes in an empty restaurant (to be fair there are four tables) waiting for someone to take our order. We went here for dinner last Saturday night. The restaurant is very big and has a bar in the middle. We started with the Coconut Shrimp which were amazing! I've really never had better Coconut Shrimp and wish I had ordered this for dinner. We also had the fried calamari and the shrimp tempura roll. Both of these appetizers were fair. One of us had the fish and chips. The fish was good but fries were soggy. We also had the Chilean Sea Bass which was drenched in a chimichurri sauce that had way too much citrus. Unfortunately the sauce covered the green beans as well and the fries were soggy. We also had the salmon which was a bit on the dry side. Finally, we had the Mexican Grill with seared shrimp which was a huge dish, perfect for sharing. Service was a bit forgetful. We asked for a glass and fork and it took forever to get it. A very light filled restaurant with attentive and pleasant service. Close to ocean and nearby Santa Monica parking lot 2. Kinda reminds me of a fast casual chain like a Chilis for seafood. The fish (miso cod, sea bass tacos and cod fish and chips) was really fresh as were the sides. We loved the Japanese eggplant app and the chili lime fries. All in all a very good experience with an opportunity for an afternoon post meal walk along the ocean bluffs. read more

We were there with our small dog sitting on the "patio" and after being there for 45 minutes were told our dog had to be on the ground. Our food finally arrived another 30 minutes later. This place gets so many things right except for the most important - the food. Service is great, super friendly attentive staff, menu is good, drinks selections is decent, prices aren't terrible for Santa Monica. Inside is pleasant. The food is really simple and pretty bland, nothing very memorable. Poke guac starter was great, best thing we ate. Salmon bowl was really dull, an insane amount of rice, could barely make a dent in it. Fish tacos were just fine but everything needs a sauce or some flavor. The sides were embarrassing. Black beans taste like water. Fries were limp and undercooked, really let the whole meal down. Rating should be a 3.5 but can't justify giving it a 4. Might try again in a long while to see if they fix the problems but it won't be anytime soon. read more

We were excited to try this new place, however it was less than satisfactory and a disappointing experience. The food took forever to arrive, and when it finally did, it was cold and not fresh. A couple sitting next to us sent their soup back because it was cold. On top of that drinks took a lifetime to arrive, which were bland and made the long wait even more frustrating. The staff seemed indifferent, and the overall service was lacking. For a new restaurant, I expected much better. Hopefully, they work out these issues, but I won't be returning. read more

This is a great location! The food was OK. The service is not that great My first server , Samantha, was very friendly & helpful. I had ordered some sushi. And as soon as I was done, mind you, the bar was not busy the other server picture below hurry up and grab my stuff like she just wanted me out of there. Instead of asking me if I wanted anything else or a refill on my drink, I told her that I wasn't done eating. I wanted to get something else and instead of giving me time to look at the menu or ask me what I wanted she just came over and gave me a dirty look and said OK what you want it's the attitude she had. So I told her come back in a minute. I'm gonna look at the menu. Instead of being a decent server, she just kept her back to me the whole time when I tried to get her attention a few times. People like her shouldn't be working anywhere because clearly she has a problem. She is in the service industry. Her hair being unkempt was completely disgusting and then on top of that her attitude you wait for someone to order and if they're calling you and you clearly hear them you come over and you take the order. It's still like to know what she mumbled under her breath, cause I have quite a few words for her as well . The food was delicious! But they sat us by the bar, although we had a reservation and when we arrived, at 5:20pm, the restaurant was half empty. Our waiter was very nice but he was also bartending, and when the restaurant got busy, he had to make drinks. No one checked on us, and one of the hosts ended up giving us our check. Also, the waiter accidentally dropped one of our orders on the floor, and the kitchen had to remake it. No one told us. We found out after we inquired why one person in our party was left without food for 15 minutes while the rest of us got our orders. I don't think we'll be back. I am elated we have a Pacific Catch in Santa Monica! I was a regular their Bay Area locations. This classy casual restaurant and bar are a perfect addition to Santa Monica Weekdays they offer food specials, I had the Taco Platter with cod and shrimp crispy style. Generous portions included black beans, chips & salsa. Love the presentation and everything was expertly prepared. My friendly bartender Sam made me a delicious Lemongrass Mojito with Flor de Cana rum. How refreshing! Too many restaurants use bad rums like Bacardi or Captain Morgan. The ambiance is classy, beachy, comfortable with 2 dining areas, bar seating or the choice of 3 patio areas. I was under stress after losing my house to the palisades fire and came across Pacific Catch. I ordered the crispy Baja fish tacos and husband got the lobster roll. He said it was the best he'd had in a long time. My tacos had a HUGE piece of fish. Food is good however the waiters need a lesson in customer care. I waited by the hostess stand (she was out) and no one paid attention to me. Finally a waiter came close to me and totally ignored me. The bus boy noticed I had been waiting for a very long time (I felt like an idiot standing there) and offered to find a table and provided a menu. One other suggestion is serve the salad first instead of with the meal. The hostess did appear and apologized after I explained the situation. This was just bad food and chain restaurant service, 100% bad experience. Ordered Brussel sprouts and fish and chips, asked the waitress to make sure the fries were extra well done. Brussel sprouts soggy oily undercooked mess. Fish was at best semi soggy and tasteless, fries were just an undercooked mess. Nothing brought to the table was remotely warm, and was brought to table by someone not our waitress, she basically never came to the table after food drop off, so to complain and ask for re-do was not happening. When table was cleared, it was obvious much of the food was uneaten, Brussel sprouts were basically untouched, no question from the waitress as to why food was not eaten. Was drinking a diet Coke & got charged for a refill. There is nothing special about this place, there's way better ways to spend money at a restaurant that seems to care. read more
