Most guys can admit the process of choosing the right ring to propose with can be a daunting task. My boyfriend (now husband) initially entered this store on a whim not knowing what to expect and having not one iota of a clue where to begin. Ted and his crew took ample time to educate my husband on the finer points diamond selection. They took into consideration his budget and provided him with several options to fit his needs by educating him on the differences between each diamond. Two surprisingly painless hours later, my husband had made his choice and boy was I glad. After proposing to me with a solitaire setting, my fiancé took me back to PDSWE to choose a setting, since he knew I'd want to be included in the process of designing my ring. How have I not written a review for Pacific Diamond yet?! I feel kind of bad because I always get myself a mochacchino whenever I'm here (which is usually for not reason)! I've been here quite a few times before I even realized that big metal thing was a coffee machine ~ fancy! Anywho, this is where my husband bought my engagement ring and more recently my Christmas present. Both were bought from Amber who is one of the most friendly people I've ever met. I actually picked out the band I wanted before we got officially engaged and she knew exactly what I liked. She taught us a lot about diamonds: the different qualities based on the color and clarity. She helped my husband find a really nice diamond since the one I wanted wasn't there when he bought my ring. She explained how it's important to not wear the ring to sleep or when I shower/do dishes as minor things like when I wash my hair or the threads in my blanket can cause the prongs to loosen and over time the diamond could come loose, since that was actually one of my biggest concerns as I've heard of people losing their diamonds. She knows everything! :) My ring is gorgeous and even my white gold & diamond heart necklace he got me is beautiful! Everyone is really nice, especially Ted, the owner. They always offer to clean my jewelry when I stop by. The pricing isn't that bad either. Excellent customer service! I needed to get my e-ring resized to a smaller size. I did not buy my e-ring from here but nevertheless, they were extremely helpful. I called about a week before and was given a quote for resizing. I was worried about the resizing cost and finding a jeweler to resize it because the material is a platinum/cobalt mix which is difficult to work with. I was happy PDWR was able to resize my ring and also happy with the quote. As soon as I walked through the PDWR door, I was greeted with a warm welcome and treated like a valued customer. Amber was my point of contact and she was friendly, pleasant, professional, cheerful, and helpful throughout the whole process. She confirmed the ID# on the stone's girdle before taking my ring. I like how they tear off your receipt from the work order form that they print. And I also like how the receipt is on color paper so it is easy to find in your purse even if it's among other white paper. Picking up the ring was super easy too. You can either show them your work order receipt or show your I.D. I was even able to give a second name in case I couldn't pick it up. When I went to pick up my ring, Amber graciously and patiently showed me how to identify the ID# on my ring's girdle. It certainly gives one peace of mind to know that the same ring is being returned. Many thanks to Amber and the staff at PDWR! Parking is a little tricky. The ENTRANCE is on Sheridan St while the EXIT is on Kapiolani Blvd. It's a small lot with a few parking spaces but it's convenient. I went into the Waimalu location with a group of friends today to purchase Pandora charms. Laurie and Danielle were warm and welcoming from the moment we stepped into the door. What a sigh of relief. A breath of fresh air. We strolled into this place after leaving another ring shop up the street that was an epic fail. I didn't realize they were a few minutes away from closing, so I apologized when we walked in. To my surprise, they didn't even realize the time and didn't seem to care. w00t! Some things you should know if you're shopping for an engagement ring (because they're going to ask you): - Type of diamond (cut, color, clarity, carat) - Budget - Any comps you've liked (if you've shopped elsewhere) & their price - Band preference (channel diamonds, plain, etc) & diamond setting - Ring size - How you're going to pay Now, they take these things into consideration for so many reasons. First off, they're a family owned business and cash is king. Where many places can't budge on price at all, they have a little more wiggle room. Secondly, they can special order diamonds for you. Amber let us know that, although they didn't have the size and cut of diamond we were looking for, she could keep her eyes and ears open to get us a deal. Third, they're completely honest and open about everything and treat you like family. They will tell you straight up that if you want a diamond of this size and cut, you probably want a better clarity because of this and that and what you could get with your budget with a smaller diamond etc etc. Amber showed us some diamonds well under our budget (SCORE!) and others way out of our budget, just for fun. She knew we wouldn't be buying the 4 carat $100,000 diamond, but it looks pretty, so we enjoyed the show. Overall, this has been our favorite place to look at rings. The 4 prongs for the diamond was not reinforced well so if I accidentially hit the ring, the prongs would bend! I went in to get a simple watch battery replacement. I have a cheap Casio watch, but the back requires a special tool to unscrew the back plate. When I arrived, both of the staff were busy with other customers. They apologized and said they would be with me shortly and offered me coffee/tea/water. I sat down and waited. The younger clerk came to me after 5 minutes and told me that it may be a little while since it was just the two of them. I realize that it's first come first serve and part of customer service requires you to be friendly with the customers, but I listened to the supervisor (a middle-aged caucasian woman, who I assume was the supervisor) talk about restaurants and everything under the sun for 10 minutes with the person she was helping...then she noticed me and said "Sorry for the wait sir"...I offered to do the battery replacement myself if they just let me use the tool but that wasn't an option. (I understand this completely) 40 minutes later... the supervisor finished with her customer, and took my watch to the back. When she came out, she was short with me. Didn't smile or chit chat like her other customers. She seemed annoyed when I had to pay $15 with a card since it required using their register instead of just giving her cash. I didn't feel as if my business was as welcomed to her since I wasn't making a large jewelry purchase. She handed off my card to her coworker and asked her to do it so she could go chit chat with the group of people buying jewelry. The younger clerk was extremely nice and friendly and made me feel like my business (although small) was appreciated. As soon as I left the shop, I went to Walmart and found the tool needed for my watch so I can do my own battery replacements in the future. My only issue with this visit was the supervisor. Overall, I would recommend this shop if you were to buy jewelry. If you are going in for simple things like watch battery replacement, do it yourself and save yourself some time and money. However, I was disappointed that the $$ that I was offered for my ring was over $1500 less than I was quoted at another shop. I do understand that they are a business, but I was shocked that there was a $1500+ difference! Goes to show that you should always do your due diligence when selling your jewelry. The place that gives you a fair price when they buy or sell to you may not be the one with best customer service. This review is for their new Aiea location... Easy to find, friendly associates, reasonable prices, and convenient parking! I took 6 watches there to change the batteries and 1 watch to adjust the clasp. I paid about $50 something for everything. I'm glad there's an alternative to having to take my watch to Sears to change a battery. Maybe one day I'll be back to look at their beautiful diamonds! ;) read more

From the ever so entertaining owner Ted, to the seasoned pro Beverly, the young gun Sophia, to their very own in house gemologist Amber. Doesn't matter who you see, they all know their stuff and they listen to what you are looking for and do their best to get you that priceless item that will make your heart sing. You have an idea, they probably can make it materialize. Best thing to do is to shop around and know what you want and come here last as their prices are usually better as they deal direct in getting their diamonds.
