Thick sandos for a cheap price! A sando, drink and chips are $6.99 here. The tuna was fresh and light. The sando was moist throughout. The veggies inside the sando were thick and nicely complemented the creamy interior. I watched the man behind the counter slice up the veggies to put in our food, so I knew the ingredients were fresh. The pastrami was nicely salted. The portions were generous; it was both meaty and full of veggies. However, it was a bit too sour when eaten with the pickled jalapeños; that with the mustard is a combo that is a bit too sour for my taste, so I just took them off. The french bread is quite crumbly and dry, but still a good vehicle for the moist interior. When biting into it, it tears well with the interior of the sando, so it's a satisfying bite (instead of when bread is too hard and you squish out all the insides trying to tear the bread). As a kid, the neighborhood corner store was more than just a place to spend money on candy and soda; it was a gathering place, and a beacon for all who lived on our block. We took ownership in it, "defending" it from kids who rode in on bikes from several blocks west of us. The proprietor always watched out for us, and occasionally hooked us up with little freebies for scraped knees or good grades. When it burned down in the L.A. uprising of 1992, we not only lost a reliable source of treats and light groceries; we lost a piece of our childhood. It was rebuilt under new ownership, and was never the same. So many of these stores are long gone... which is why finding a cute little spot like Pacific hit me so close to the heart. Nestled in a busy neighborhood of condos and apartments, Pacific is clean, quaint, and quality all rolled into one. I recently stopped in here on my travels through the city, and finding myself with a little bit of lunch hunger, decided to order up a sandwich. Nothing wrong with the roast beef and Swiss, even in general terms, and the Pacific version was superior even to my expectations. Cold crispy lettuce, fresh vegetables, and just the right amount of condiments to complement a generous amount of meat and cheese... All piled high atop bread with that perfect combination of crispy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. I grabbed a cold drink out of the case, a bag of chips off the shelf, and for the briefest of moments, I was seven years old again, half thinking about if I had enough money to buy a snickers, and half wondering if my bike was still there, left laying on its side on the sidewalk in front of the store. Those days are long gone, but I'm glad to share there are still a few places that perfectly combine nostalgia with personal service in the present. This little store on the corner as one of them. I love this corner store! The staff is SO friendly. I stop in often for snacks and random household needs because I live nearby and work from home. Their dolmas from the counter are great! Also-- their alcohol is reasonably priced compared to other corner stores nearby which seem to mark up a lot higher. Somehow they also sell some Costco brand items? For instance, I bought some mints for 1.99 and the next week after he charges me 2.49 for the exact same mints and sometimes some obscure prices saying it's a price increase. some bullshit if you ask me. i have questioned him many times about this shady practice as he has done it to me many times and he gives so many excuses. one time he tacked on an extra service charge on top of the taxes. i will not buy anything from here unless there is a clear sticker price tagged which is less than half the store. be very wary he does not give an itemized receipt so he can get away with this! read more

It would be a toss-up whether Pacific Food Mart or NOPA Corner Market is the cleanest convenience store in the city. Spic and span, no dust settled anywhere; this is my annoying trait of noticing minutia- that and being an equally annoying grammarian. I digress: I dashed in to grab some Pilsner and they had quite a good selection in the refrigerated case. Prices are a dollar or two more than big grocery stores but that's to be expected. I decided to plunk another $6 on lottery tickets because I hadn't yet paid enough self-imposed tax or won anything. Their take-out sandwiches look terrific and the owner was very solicitous and sweet. I could bathe in the kindness of his calling me "dear" several times. Pacific Food Mart has a lock on this neighborhood so it's great residents have a solid convenience store to rely on. A+ read more

As a neighborhood store, I wanted to support small businesses and hence used to get sandwich here. That was until the owner literally SCREAMED at me today. Told me "DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO READ?" while making hand gestures suggesting I'm mentally challenged, and made me feel extremely unsafe! As a person of color whose first language IS English, Let me tell you this - No, I didn't need your hand gestures as I'm fluent in 5 languages. And even if someone needed help, you can't be an overt racist in 2021 and expect it won't come back to you. He bags everything up a d says $7.00 something, I give home a hundred and he was shocked like never saw one and asked if I had smaller bill I said no. He just froze there silently not knowing what to do. He probably didnt have change so I said I can charge it and he says ok. I get home and open my Falafel expecting a wonderful meal. I get a huge French roll with lots of lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, mustard, and peppers and half slice of cheese wondering where dafuk is the falafel balls. Even though the prices are typical outrageous San Francisco mini mart prices, HAKIM the owner makes up for it with his always friendly smile and super fast and helpful service. I probably shopped there 5 times a week for the past year because I lived in the shitty apts upstairs. When I was a little short on cash, Hakim even let me run a tab and pay him on payday! He awoke without skipping a beat, and before Iong I had a freshly sliced turkey sandwich. A good one. Bread options are minimal (sliced wheat and white, at least on weekends) and I wasn't offered the much advertised combo deal. Solid option in the hood, but nothing that merits a fourth star. Your friendly 2000 Post Corner Market Store!! I can't believe no one has reviewed the Pacific Food Market corner store on Sutter and Pierce! This is my favorite place to go to at 6PM after a full week of work! I stock up on: bubble water, vitamin water, gummie snacks, beer and wine. They always have my fav - a 12 pack of stella and a 6 pack of blue moon in glass bottles and carry my super savvy and delicious brand of "BAREFOOT" (haha, SWEAR!) wine. Last week I was a few dollars short, and the friendly owner yelled to the cashier from the back of the store, "MARIAA, she's my neighbor! Give it to her!" That sealed the deal, I had to write a 5-star review. They also make fresh sandwiches......sandwich, chips and a soda for $4.99, my roommate is a big fan. Come visit. read more

My friend/co-worker introduced me to this place!!! I love it! I've ordered the crab sandwich twice now! Both times they both were very fresh! (I have not yet gotten sick from eating here (and that's always a plus!) Definitely will be a regular customer there! Because trying to find a cheap lunch by work is not easy! The $4.99 deal is totally worth the 10 minute walk! I should add that the crab sandwich was very tasty! I am willing to try other things now since I know that was pretty damn good! I like this place! It's your typical unassuming neighborhood corner market. It's a lot cleaner than most, however, and the proprietor makes a mean sandwich. There is also a great $4.99 special for sandwich + soda + chips. I didn't personally try any of the sandwiches, but I watched him make to order a turkey sandwich, a falafel sandwich, and a roast beef sandwich. You have a choice of wheat, white, dutch crunch or sweet roll for bread. There are the typical toppings of leafy lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and mustard, and he also adds pickles and sliced jalapeno peppers as well as your choice of cheese. As for the deli meats, he has the slicer propped up on the corner of the counter and slices your choice up fresh! He then assembles the whole thing, slices it in half, wraps it in paper, and puts in toothpicks to keep the whole rather tall stack from coming apart. I wasn't feeling that hungry so I just got a corn dog which was about as good as you'd expect a microwaved corn dog to taste. However, I think that I will definitely try a sandwich next time I have the stomach space, since this seems like a really good deal. Also, there is a good selection of frozen and refrigerated convenience food as well as a fairly large selection of beers and wines. There are some ready made foods in the glass display cases, as well as an interesting selection of candies and small desserts. All in all, a good place to stop by after work for the essentials or a freshly made-to-order sandwich. One last thing: As I was digging through my wallet to find exact change, the owner was like, "Oh it's okay if you're short" which I found very nice and friendly, sort of unexpected for San Francisco. From reading other reviews, it sounds like this place really is part of the neighborhood, and the owner is a nice guy who wants to keep people coming back. The whole experience left me with a good impression, so I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. over the course of about a year now i've walked past this place like fifty times and have noticed the "fresh sandwich, chips and soda for $3.99" sign. always tempted to go in but fearful of a dissappointing sandwich, i've passed up the opportunity on a great deal day in and day out. the other day i walked in, pleasantly surprised by the super friendly owner whom also made my sandwich. and the sandwich itself was great too. the meat is sliced when you order your sandwich and it comes with all the normal fixings. i'll be back often. i think i'd like to become a regular there. and actually, the two times i've been there so far, they've had regulars come in. the owner says hello to them by name and they seem completely satisfied with the place. read more
