A huge dim sum house that feels like it should be in another city that's in Brooklyn! The dining room is huge and fancy. It definitely looks like a banquet room that can fit a giant wedding part--typical of west coast Chinese restaurants. The dim sum fare is done really well with common favorites like shu mai and har gao to more traditional ones such as rice porridge. Everything was made well and the food continuously comes around so that there isn't a lull in the feasting and dabbling in new foods. For approximately $10 each, my party of five were stuffed with greasy goodness without breaking the bank. Prices are not expensive and since my aunt know someone who works in there, she always give us free tea. The dim sum are ok. It's better than Manhattan's Jing Fongs-- interior is much newer, cleaner, fresher, and the food is just as good but less oily....and hey, i LOVE Jing Fongs. The most recent visit was this Sunday, at 2pm. We were STARVING. There was a 10 minute wait which felt like hours (they still had a crowd at 2pm, which is pretty late for dim sum). Once my party of 5 were seated the carts came flying directly to us. We ordered at least 20 dishes, plus roast pork over rice (my brothers idea, but it was only $5) and the bill plus tip was $12 bucks each. You can not beat that! pros: This place -- its food, its servers, its architecture -- look exactly like the Chinese restaurants I'm used to seeing in Southern California. It's what you would see in areas with large populations of Asians. It's welcoming and familiar, and the dim sum is lip smackingly delicious. cons: It's large, chaotic, noisy, and it's the type of place where someone shows up at your table and tallies up the bill right in front of you. There were only a handful of customers, but a crap load of waiters. (Anyone looking for a job?) I ordered the moo shu pork, which was delish. One of the best dim sum spots in my opinion. The food is always consistent and done to what I believe dim sum should be done. The rice roll is steamed perfectly thin and light, the tofu roll is full of flavor and my favorite is the durian custard. It can get packed on the weekends, you might have to share a table or go during the week, they do Dim Sum every day. Very meh for me. The decor is fancy for the area, but its pretty big and you get big beautiful views of the hood from the wide windows. It was a bit hard to find at first, the entrance is up stairs on 55th and not on 8th Ave like the giant sign above Chase would have you believe. I enjoyed the tea the most, the carts never made it to any of the tables in our seating area, so we ordered off the menu to share. My dinner guests enjoyed the duck and dumplings the most, no one touched any of the fried rice beyond a taste, and the chicken with cashews was very bland. Our expensive dinner laid to waste on the table. I am not a huge fan of Chinese food in general, but when a place is really great there is always at least a stand out item or two for me to rave about. I didn't get that here. read more

Somewhere between 3.5 to 4 stars. Not sure if it's worth the trek out to BKLYN (but if you are taking the subway to Ctown in Manhattan anyway, this is just two extra stops). I too saw this on Colameco's Food Show when they were showing off Brooklyn C-town which before I had only heard about but never really knew a whole lot about. I jotted the name down and yelped it to check the local / asian recommendations. When it comes to dim sum, I always go with the asian recommendations. So after seeing all the high marks on yelp, I decided to trek out to BKLYN CTOWN. Overall, while the dim sum was good, I wouldn't say I was bowled over. I guess having a TOP DIM SUM reputation in Sunset Park, Pacificana surely got me building some high expectations that were not delivered. I feel like I can get the regular sort of dim sum here in Ctown Manhattan... and for really authentic and premium dim sum, I'd still make the trek out to Flushing. read more

Went here on a Sunday. (Word of advice: if you're driving is very hard to find parking. There's a garage right below the restaurant but gets full quickly. We got there around noon) It was really crowded but the wait wasn't long at all, maybe 10 min tops. Is well worth it! Everything that came around was delicious. We had the soup dumplings, some shrimp flat noodles, sesame balls (my favorite!), the clams (really good!) and a lot more dishes that I don't know what they are called but overall really good. The highlight of our meal was the Peking Duck, after our friend's, that is a chef, recommendation. Is not on the Dim Sum menu, but you can order half a duck for $20. Is a lot of food we couldn't finish it! It is served with steamed buns and they make them right in front of you: steamed bun, cucumber, some onion greens and extra crispy skin...mmmm a dream of a bun! This was my first Dim Sum experience so I have nothing to compare to. Good for a big group, you can sit 8-10 at a big round table. We were 4 so we shared a table with another group, which is very normal for these types of establishments to do. Get the duck and be merry! read more

Really good Dim Sum. If you are in the neighborhood this is a no brainer. I've never had a wait, been there nearly 10 times. If you are going to travel to a place I don't know what to tell you, other that this place is better than the other two Dim Sum places I went to in Manhattan. You have to know your way around in Dim Sum or else you might feel a little lost. I assume most of the staff speak some English but they definitely prefer not to. This works for a non-English speaker if you can recognize what you want by sight. Love the Duck dish but it adds considerable weight to a bill that is otherwise usually very light. My girlfriend and I have been trekking over from 4th Avenue to go to Pacificana for almost two years now, and its definitely our dim-sum goto place. They serve dim sum until around 3PM, and we usually get there around 11 or so; its a huge restaurant, but its so popular that there's almost always a wait. Since there's only two of us, we usually get seated in 20-30 minutes tops--which is fine, considering most good dim-sum houses have about the same wait time. Food is generally delicious; I noticed several reviews claiming that certain dishes don't have meat, or aren't what they expect--huh? This is in the middle of 8th avenue; if you don't speak or understand Chinese, or go with someone who does (I'm with the latter!), then just pointing to dishes is going to warrant you getting things you didn't know you didn't want. Some of the recommended dishes: bamboo dumplings, shrimp dumplings, roast pork rice cakes, and pretty much any of the buns. And I've never walked out of here spending more than $10 a person--when I went yesterday morning, it was $20 with a tip--and we were both starving, so we got more than usual. Tea is replenished quickly, and the carts come fairly often. I must warn you that depending on where you're seated, you may have carts go by fairly quickly, which is a side-effect of the large nature of the restaurant. DINNER is good here, but waaaay too overpriced. At least you get very large helpings--the dinner menu was definitely designed with groups in mind. For dinner, I'd give this two dollar signs ($$), which is surprising considering their decent dim sum pricing. Overall, this place is great, cheap dim sum, and the atmosphere is equally great. Its good, but some dim sum dishes are eh.. A positive is that you can valet park your car, making it easier than circling around and around for a parking spot. I like that. This place is my favorite Chinese food spot in Brooklyn. I've been eating here since I was 8 years old and it was called ocean palace. Literally everything they make is amazing. I have never ordered or tried a dish that I didn't enjoy and I have eaten here like 60 times or more. My personal favorites are the pan fried noodles, hot and sour soup, Peking style pork chops, and their roast pork with just about anything. I can name many more dishes but I'll let you order for yourselves and figure it out. On a side note my father and his friends used to come here so much that they used to invent their own dishes. A few of the waiters and the owners know the "secret" menu and I have ordered them and they are awesome. My point is that when you go here do not order your usual "American" Chinese food dishes. Go outside of the box and try some new things. You will not be disappointed. read more

First off, the wait was insane. It was not only Sunday, it was Father's Day so we put ourselves in the situation. We weren't celebrating the holiday but just showing some folks from out of town where the best dim sum was. My bf and I happened to try get in in the weekend before and gave up when we couldn't find parking. We chose another restaurant in the Sunset Park Chinatown which was just average so when we were asked where to go for dim sum by our visitors, we decided to try Pacificana again. The last time we were here was at the tail end of Chinese New Year and we were treated to an in house lion dance. This time, there was no lion dance, just the best and freshest dim sum in New York. There is nothing innovative like the dishes in Hong Kong but everything was good except the mango pudding which was nothing but sugar, starch and food coloring, no mango flavor whatsoever. The dish we always order which makes up for any shortcomings is the roast pig which comes with jelly fish, just to let you know. If you have any aversions to jellyfish you may be able to order the roast pig as a special dish without the jellyfish. The other times we ordered it I think it was just the roast pig but as a dim cart item, it was pretty pricey at $17. For 6 people however, the bill came to around $92 and with tip, that's less than $20 per person, still a good deal for Sunday brunch. Yelp says this place opens at 8:00 am which if you want to beat the crowd with the 1 hour plus wait, you can go at this ungodly hour or you can send a scout to grab a number, grab some coffee (which dim sum places don't usually have), do some grocery shopping and come back. That's a more productive use of your time and would reduce the number of people in your party waiting anxiously with the other multitudes for their number to be called. Once in, seated and after a few rounds, you'll appreciate the wait. They are the best in town. If you're too impatient and hungry, you'll regret you settled for 2nd best at another tea house with the shorter/no wait. read more

Due note this place is not for the faint of heart (I'm referring to the service, not the food, but if you're not used to the standard chicken feet and spare ribs of dim sum, mentally prepare for those visuals as well) - English won't get you more than a kettle of tea and you need to flag down the carts as they whiz by (usually they're supposed to stop at your tables, but not here)! I also ordered the yellow Chinese mustard, but was given a red hot sauce that seemed to be a mix of Chinese chili paste, Mexican salsa, and vinegar. Again, the actual dim sum was quality (though nothing fancy or different). Everything else (service, cleanliness, misc. condiments) was on par (aka suspect) of a Chinese restaurant. Four stars here for the dim sum and not for the dinner. Dinner is not too good....salty and aight. Dim sum is a solid experience, and worth the journey to sunset park. The options are many, and many of the items are fantastic. I would make sure you get the har gao, an egg tart, and some soup dumplings. They even have porridge and countless other things. Decent service but the food was not good. I feel sick right now hoping I don't get sick from the food. My husband and I would not recommend this place... we ordered the dumplings and shrimp shumai which were just okay but the kung pao chicken and mapo tofu were probably one of the worst we've ever had. I was so disappointed in the service and cleanliness of this place. I heard they reopened and wanted to try it out. Honestly the food was decent, but the service and hygiene of this place is the reason behind this 2 star review. The cups and plates were so dirty we had to clean it with tea. If you come here during the weekend be prepare to be disappointed. There will always be long lines. You will most likely have to share your table with a few strangers. It will be so packed that most of the dim sum won't make its way to you. You can always get up and walk to the counter and place the order there. But don't ask the ladies what the dishes are or what's in them. Because they will look at you like you're stupid and angrily tell you what it is. After getting what you want you have to squeeze pass tables and children to get back to your seat. Getting refills on tea is almost impossible. When somebody finally picks up your teapot to refill your tea. They will probably take 30 minutes. The bathroom line is longer than the line outside. Came here on Thanksgiving morning and it was packed. The seating between the tables is really limited and can feel a little claustrophobic. Additionally, because it is so packed, sometimes the ladies with the dim sum carts don't really get to the tables in the corners or tight spaces. So, you have to go to the counter or find the ladies with the carts. The food itself is fine; good variety but nothing too special. This is the worse place for dinning. My bestie has her wedding lunch at this place and the service is horrible. I told the manager that our table didn't have the fruits and light appetizers plates as the rest of the table. The manager literally laughed and said because someone don't care to have them. I asked about the napkins and he simply said a lot of guests don't need them. Then the waitress came up later when they gave out food for each table, she complained that we moved the clean plates.
