And the payment schedule was clearly outlined in advance. No surprises. Everyone at the company was awesome! Bert met with us many times to plan the pool to get the design and layout just right! The communication level from the project coordinator, Kelly, was outstanding! She had crews lined up one right after another. She knew we had to book doggy daycare for the pup and gave us as much advance notice as possible on scheduling. When we had questions or concerns she was always quick to respond. Getting started with the technician, Dane was a breeze. He has taken the time to answer all of our questions and has made sure that all equipment is working properly. Knowing that we can call on him if we can't figure something out is real peace of mind for us, as new pool owners. His patience and ability to guide us even over the phone in a few instances, has been fantastic. Overall the process was as painless as a major construction project could be. Start to finish, we had water in our pool in about 12 weeks! With a couple of rain delays and the winter holidays in there, we were impressed. It turned out just how we envisioned. I'm not a huge Yelp-er but when you have such a positive experience, I think it is important to share. I purchased my home earlier this year and had a doozy of a backyard. We obtained several bids to remodel/repair our 1970s all-original classic "pool". A couple contractors even refused to touch this monstrosity. Rich Tonti showed no fear. His bid wasn't the highest nor the lowest but his experience and confidence sold me immediately. Best.Decision.Ever! Our pool looks amazing, his team (especially Lee but really all of them) were just a dream to work with, very minimal change orders...I mean, incredible customer service. I always knew who was coming on site, what projects were being tackled and when...not your typical contractor experience. While our yard is still partially in progress, the pool is done, the patio is done, the bar, stairs and our new equipment (which was the scope of the job) is finished to perfection. My parents had our pool put in in 1967. Obviously it needed some updates. We called several companies for estimates and chose Pacific Paradise Pools because they responded quickly to our requests and came out right away to photograph and measure the pool. We were kept informed with each step of the process. Workers were always on time and worked hard the whole time they were here. The pool is absolutely beautiful and we couldn't be happier with the updates. The pool was resurfaced and new coping and tile were installed. Kelly and Victor are incredible to work with at Pacific Paradise. My spa was built in 2017 and Kelly has been a rock star with any issues or questions that come up. Super responsive and always helpful. Victor has been great as well. When he stopped by to drop off additional supplies I had purchased, he figured out why some of my jets weren't working. Took the time to fix the problem (small rock plugged one of the jets) and made sure everything was working properly before he left. Can't say enough about the service. I called on a Tuesday to get a quote on replacing my pool pump. I was told that I had to talk to Keith so I left a message. It took him 24 hours to return my call but he said that, while they can't quote over the phone, someone would come to my house the next morning between 9 and 12. I asked them to please call when they were on their way. There was no call on Thursday or Friday. Finally, Monday afternoon, Keith called to say he would be there the next day, Tuesday, a week after my first inquiry, and this is just to get a quote! He made no mention of the fact that he was several days late. I told him that I had no interest in doing business with someone with that little regard for customer service. They may or may not do good work but first impressions matter and this was a dud. read more

Our front yard remodel got off to a rough start with time delays and construction errors made by a sub-contractor. We met with Kelly and walked through the problems. She accepted responsibility and removed the struggling sub-contractor. Jose and Raymundo managed their in-house construction crew. My wife and I shopped around, spoke with friends, and went around the area to see who was working on pools in our area. After narrowing the list down to three companies, my wife and I selected Pacific Paradise Pools, and it was the best decision. Bert was amazing, answered all of my questions, let me know next steps, and was very proactive in the preparation as he anticipated what would be needed in the 2-3 weeks out. He scheduled it early, anticipated logistics and staffing, and I can honestly say the only thing we had to wait on was the city for the inspections. I think the longest we waited was 7 calendar days for the city to do an inspection as he set it up earlier and also ensured materials and parts were ready to go weeks before so there were no delays. We just completed a complete yard remodel with Pacific Paradise Pools. They built our pool, spa, bbq kitchen, and yard landscape, complete with lights, irrigation, planters and sod. We first met Rich Tonti, of Pacific Paradise Pools, in the fall of 2015 at a home show. We were interested in redoing our pool and backyard living area, but weren't yet ready to dive in. Even knowing that we were just gathering info with no plans, Rich gladly came to our house and discussed some possibilities and spent lots of time answering our questions. Finally, in the Fall of 2017 we were ready to move forward. We did our research and contacted 5 other pool builders, but none compared to the professionalism we experienced with Rich. He was very easy to work with and really listened to our ideas and helped us figure out a great plan for the entire backyard. Once we signed the contract, he stuck to his time schedule as promised, was always available for questions, and was dedicated to making sure we were happy. When Rich would see things that weren't right during the project he made sure that it was fixed. All of the employees who worked for Pacific ParadisePools that we encountered were very easy to work with, professional, and always had time to answer questions. On top of our experience, was the remarks we heard from others who saw the work being done. The city inspectors were very happy with the project and even asked for info on Rich so he could use him for his own project. Pacific Paradise Pools re-tiled, re-plastered our pool. They weren't cheap and stressed that to make sure all went well we really should employ them to keep the pool cleaned. They mentioned $85/mo for this service but the bill comes at $95. When the pool vac sounded like a monster in the yard they suggested vacmate for $85 in December. They sent a coupon for 20% off in January so when I got the bill I deducted the 20%. They refused to honor their coupon because I had already ordered the equipment. Also the "motherboard" on the time clock went out and had to be replaced in less than 5 months. They did take care of it. Mark Buzzy, the serviceman is nice and responsible with the gate and dog. Mark the electrical installer was wonderful but is no longer working there. read more

I am very disappointed in their customer service, especially their representative Bert! I reached out to the company for a proposal, I was given Bert as a representative. From a phone call conversation he asked for me to email our designer's renderings for a bid November 27th. He confirmed that he received the email. After that text, I never heard back from him. I texted him on 4 different occasions with zero response. I finally had to call the office to see if he was still employed! They said he was, and he would get back to me today (December 11th). I received a voicemail today saying he never opened my email and was to busy and so would be declining giving us a proposal?!!! What kind of company wastes your time like this and turns down work. This is a large project. If this is how the company works BEFORE they get your work I would hate to see what would have happened if we were in contract. Absolutely awful! read more

I hate to leave a bad review as I have used these guys in the past and was satisfied with their work. Here's what happened last time I tried to give them my business... My pool pump went out on me and I decided I was going to replace it instead of repairing it. I knew I could save money with a 2 speed or variable speed pump. Without a doubt my go to guy was Richie Powel at Pacific Paradise Pools. Over the last 14 years I have used them for pool repairs and purchased my pool cleaner and other items from them. So I was quite disappointed when I kept calling and getting no response. I wondered if they had gone out of business. Two weeks into trying to get ahold of them I drive by on a Sunday, I know they'd be closed, just to see if they were still there. I could see the reception area and offices to either side with computers and paperwork. It didn't look abandoned. So I called again and kept getting the machine. "Press 101 for Rich Tonti", "Press 102 for Linette", "Press 103 for Richie Powel", "or leave a message"... I left a message for them all, multiple times. Including Rich Tonti, the owner. It's now 4 weeks later. I call again and leave messages again asking them to please just let me know if they are just too busy or something... I finally decide I need to move on and start researching other places. And the day I finally call another place and set up an appointment for them to come out and give me a quote. The moment I hung up the phone, my phone rings. I though they must be calling me back. I say "hello" and the response is "This is Richie". I'm kind of surprised but recognize his voice and say "ah, Richie from Pacific Paradise Pools!" It might have been a bit more professional to state who and where you are from and that you were returning my phone call... But, whatever... So I explain that I have been trying to get ahold of them for over 4 weeks and thought they maybe went out of business. I get no explanation... So I explain my problem and that I didn't know which way to go with a new pump. He explained why a variable speed would be better than a 2 speed. Told me he was free Friday morning to take a look. I told him great, I'd be home all day Friday. I also told him I had pictures of the piping and electrical and asked if it would help and if he could at least let me know a roundabout price. We settled on him coming out Friday and I sent him the pictures so that he could email me something later that day. I never got an email... Friday came and went; Richie was a no show... I never got so much as a call.. It is now a month later and I'm now the owner of a nice variable speed pump that was professionally installed by a company that actually takes phone calls and shows up for appointments. Here's an easy $1000-1600 they could have charged to sell me a pump and I wouldn't have even bothered getting another quote. And yet here we are a month later and still no word... I'm almost thankful they didn't do the work. What if something had gone wrong the next day or week and I needed them to fix it..? To say that I'm disappointed would be an understatement. read more

What can I say about this company... Probably a lot. My family and I were redoing our backyard and decided to update our late 70's pool. I probably contacted all the other companies you have seen prior to reading this yelp review - Got 5+ quotes as well. I can honestly say that I am extremely happy we went with Pacific Paradise Pools. Our job started out as a resurface, retile, but quickly escalated into a full rock-scaped remodel and the kicker was that it all came in under the initial budget we had for just resurface/retile. Bert saw the whole project through from quote to finish. He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy at each step. At one point, they even repainted the rockscape for us no charge. The need wasn't even their fault (my wife and I had different opinions on what it should look like) - So yes, we were "that" customer and they still took care of us. Bert's philosophy throughout the whole project was "I want you to love the pool you are getting" and he delivered. Work they did for us: Some deck cutting (for a planter), Demo, pebble sheen, new drain, rockscape with diving rock. All of it is top notch. I forgot one thing... It is such a pleasure when a company does everything right from start to finish, when you have confidence in their knowledge and expertise, and when they follow through on every promise and expectation. That was our experience with Pacific Paradise Pools. Rich Tonti clearly knows his stuff, is honest upfront about what to expect, and is very personable. The way the project was scheduled, monitored, and inspected inspired confidence and led to a fantastic pool and hardscape. Pacific Paradise not only uses wonderful subs (Lani for the deck concrete!), but they also guarantee that if something does go wrong with a sub, they get it fixed and made right in a hurry. The entire crew (Rich, Tim, Kelly and more) are lovely people and carefully guided us through the project. Now that the project is complete, we LOVE our lap pool, but we do miss Kelly's infectious smile! This may be the most unprofessional contractor I have encountered. I initially contacted Ritchie on August 31 about repairs needed to my pool. He said he could do it and to text pictures, following which he would send estimate. I send pictures that day, and I received no response. After multiple calls and texts asking him for a response, I received a text on September 20 apologizing and telling me he needed the address to come and view the damage. They have cleaned and maintained my pool for a couple of years now. My family uses our pool daily, 3 teens, their friends and often their entire teams, and even our chocolate lab. After our pool man visits he often finds food, trash, plates even utensils at the bottom but he is still able to keep everything working great and the water beautiful. I found this company when my existing pool service man was billing before work was started which made me start looking. I interviewed several companies and was attracted to the friendly person that made several suggestions over the phone. The initial problem was my filter which Paradise fixed due to an improper installation from the previous service tech. I was impressed with the service and it was suggested that I get an acid wash which would improve the over all look of the pool and was recommended as a regular 5 year maintenance schedule. So I took the advice and they preformed that service. I asked about monthly maintenance which I signed up for but within less than 2 weeks after filling the pool from that acid wash. I was noticing algae starting to grow in the corners of the steps. I immediately called the office and spoke to Richie who assured me he would review my chemical results and coach my serviceman for proper cleaning. My second call was only a few days later since the problem had not been cleared and scheduled swimming lessons would be starting and the pool heater would be turned on. I scheduled an appointment with Richie who said he would come over to see the situation. HE NEVER SHOWED OR CALLED!!!!! I caught the service tech that following visit and read him the riot act as to why the pool needed to be completely clean. He reassured me that it would be. First week into lessons I started noticing black spots on the pool bottom and side walls. I went to Leslie's Pool Supply and purchase and pole and brush to see if it was some minor debris that was needing to be brushed. Leslie's gave me a bottle for a water test and invited me to return with a sample for an analysis. I again called the office speaking to RICHIE who told me (for a second time) that he would come out and see the problem. Which by now is not only the green algae but the black algae which is harder to get rid of! The appointment date made by RICHIE for a second time was blown off without a call or message of any type. I called the office a THIRD time with similar results ... RICHIE making unfulfilled appointment dates which he says he will come with my service tech NORMAN. MY OVERALL ASSESSMENT.... TOO MANY UNFULFILLED PROMISES AND A LACK OF INTEREST IN KEEPING A REGULAR CLIENT BASE. I STILL HAVE AN ALGAE FILLED POOL WITHOUT ANY ASSISTANCE FROM PARADISE. But I have learned a lot from visiting my local pool supply store and online. Considering legal action since the services render have caused irreparable damage to the pool! read more

I hired this company to service my pool in a rental home in HB. Being the landlord I wanted a company to provide reliable full service: weekly maintenance, repair work done with integrity and quality . As long as I'm getting full service I didn't mind paying a little extra as long as everything is taken care..I don't need any hassles. Unfortunately they are all talk. First, they are expen$ive, I had them replace all of my pool equipment: heater, filter, pump, plumbing replacement. I scheduled a day with the renters when all of this would take place. They never showed up. I found out they subcontracted my job out and they don't follow up with any quality inspection of the work. The pool equipment was eventually installed except they failed to dispose of any of the original equipment. The renters informed me they left all of the old equipment. They installed the heater on a pile of rubble. I had to send pictures to them to show how awful the quality of the installation. I had to make multiple telephone calls to get them to fix the installation. They failed to install a stuck ortega valve and basically told me it would break one day. So I asked them to replace it and well they forgot or didn't want to do it. How many times do I have to call them. When I asked them for a quote to replaster the pool they were the most expensive by $3,000 over the next bid. I had them provide weekly maintenance on my pool for over 12 months $95/month. I gave them every chance to provide better service. They failed. Run as fast as you away from this company. And yes I have spoken to Rich the owner and it didn't make a difference. Let me tell you. I'm one of those customers who would stick with a company for years as long as I thought I was getting good service. They lost out on a loyal customer.
