Pacific Ranch Market is one of my favorite places EVER. Okay, so the main reason for that would be because PRM was my first ever job, at the young age of 16, right before I started driving. I worked there for a year, then came back a few years later and worked as a grocery guy in my late teens for a couple years. The people that work here, including the general manager, are awesome. Everybody is extremely nice, friendly and helpful. It's a medium sized mom and pop place, probably about the size of two or three Trader Joe's, but it's mainly specialty foods and wine, so don't come here looking for the usual type of stuff you'd get at a major chain grocer. The wine section is freaking awesome. Their wine guy has been there for decades and is extremely knowledgeable. He seems to know quite a few different suppliers and savings are always passed down to the customer. He is also in charge of their well-stocked cigar humidor. Both are priced from cheap to oh-my-god-ill-never-make-that-much-money-in-my-life. Additionally, PRM has a great range of hard to find liquors and beers, but the wine section is about ten times their size as far as selection goes. The cheeses here are all very interesting, hand picked cheeses that you wont see elsewhere other than a few specialty stores or maybe Gelsons. The meat department has some extremely good looking cuts displayed at all times, and you have your choice of run of the mill beef all the way up to fancy pants, organic, free range meats/poultry. They also have a rad deli that is fully stocked with Boars Head and they'll slice to order. Produce: fresh as monkeys breath, brother. They are always getting in nothing but the freshest local produce, as well as a bunch of crazy seasonal fruits/veggies that only a handful of places in so cal are going to carry. They usually have fresh cut fruit bowls everyday, great for lunch or a snack. Try their OJ. It's squeezed in the back on a daily basis, sometimes twice a day. They also make salsa in the back every morning and it's definitely worth the trip there alone(both the regular salsa and their ultra yummy mango salsa). The bakery cooks up deliciously fattening treats throughout the day, as well as special orders. Their chocolate chewies are locally famous. I love PRM. So many good memories, so much good food, so many good people. It's a little more expensive than you might be used to, but you'll see so many unique or hard to find items that it'll be worth it. read more

This was our Whole Foods before there was a Whole Foods. Price tend to be on the higher side compared to your local super, but the quality is there. My wife loves the bakery. Me, too. The muffins can't be beat. They even make packaged mini-muffins that are the same soft deliciousness, each one a 2 bite package. Perfect for kids. The bread? Also killer. You won't find better dinner rolls. Lots of great produce and fruit. But there are two stops here, besides the bakery, that can't be missed. First, the wine shop. The guys who run this have an outstanding selection. There are the bargain buys, of course. But ask for Phillip if you'd like a special bottle of Cab or a Chard of a different shade. For wine geeks, there are real finds here (mostly in CA wines). Very cool selection. Second, the deli turns out some amazing sandwiches. They even made us a delicious breakfast sandwich off-menu. The Italian sub is one of the best I've tried. In fact, every choice has been outstanding. We always stop here for our lunch supplies before heading out into Santiago Canyon to hit the local wineries. read more

I haven't been here for a long time, but when I did go, I always got a weird, "your kind ain't welcome here" vibe. I should note I'm Mexican, but look Arab. So who knows? Maybe I'm just too paranoid. Shopped here forever and a day but the customer service has really been falling apart and customer service and convieneince is why I never minded paying a premium for he same brands I could buy up the street. I always try to support independents but it's becoming harder here. Berries are consistently moldy, produce is old and many times decaying on the shelf, the switches to plastic bags at the deli over paper wrappers and most of the time she. You give them a $5 off coupon the cashiers forget to deduct them and then say sorry we can't do it afterwards. I don't know could be just me but doesn't seem like a way to make it. read more

This is the most spectacularly darling store! Thank God for Atkin's, or I would have gone broke in here. Unfortunately, it would not have taken long. Really unique, foodie gourmet stuff- like Rao's marinara and a million things I can't remember right now. The meat and fish counter are to die for! Beautiful mouthwatering cuts of everything. Prime stuff just waiting for my next splurge! The veggie section is awesome too. Like purple, green and orange cauliflower and itty bitty infant cabbage and bok choy. Too fun! Really great kitchenware section- small but well planned- but no deals to be found here. Pricey, but cute and fun. I will so be back. And that means a lot coming from me, 'cuz I HATE E. I come here a few times a month to buy a muffin from the bakery..the bakery here is delicious but the one thing that bothers me the most is the cashier in the morning, Helena. She looks like she hates her job. She doesn't say hi, doesn't say your total and isn't friendly at all. read more

Management is doing the bare minimum to protect employees and customers from COVID. There is never any wipes for the baskets/carts, no hand sanitizer stations throughout the store, no plexiglass shields at any point of contact with their staff. When essential employees like grocery store workers are getting sicker at higher rates is really upsetting to see our local store which we have shopped at for nearly 40 years, not protecting their staff or our community. Especially disappointed that when we have gone to management/ownership, any suggestions have been ignored. read more

My family and I have been patronizing ranch market for almost 30 years, from the time it was Irvine ranch market. Its probably more expensive than Bristol farms; any processed foods stay away from buying here the mark up is almost 3 times a regular grocery store!!! That being said they have such a great selection of specialty and gourmet processed foods that are a fun splurge. But they do have better produce and meat than any other store I have ever been to. The fruit and veggies despite not being organic are better tasting than any store Ive ever been to. Their prime meat is freaking amazing, you pay a pretty penny for it, but I wouldn't buy steak anywhere else. The boarshead deli is also super complete. The alcohol section is also top shelf. They carry all the cool specialty stuff you can think of plus a bunch of micro brews as well. The alcohol pricing is actually really good and cheaper than the typical liquor store. Organic vodka $15! And if you're a wino they have onsite storage and a full time "sommelier" to help you choose a $10 bottle or $200 bottle. Its a cool store and were loyal customers, but 4 instead of 5 stars as this store is generally for the wealthy and I am not a fan of the bakery at all. :) Oh they just started making grab and go sushi- shockingly really really good! read more

I love, love, love the bakery, deli and wine departments here! The bakery has beautiful, fresh and delicious treats - everything from chocolate chip cookies to custom cakes. I've ordered many birthday cakes here over the years and they're always amazing to look at and to eat. The chocolate cake with raspberry filling and white buttercream frosting is my favorite. The deli has a great selection of pre-made salads, as well as Boar's Head meats and cheeses. They also make sandwiches to eat there or take to go and there's a section for packaged foods towards the back of the store. Stuff like pasta, stuffing, green beans, you name it, they got it and it's good. The best part about this place is the wine department. Great selection and AMAZING prices. No one, not BevMo, not Total Wines and More, no one is cheaper! There's an a resident wine expert or two to help you make your decision. Had a few last minutes before a hike and decided to run into this place. I knew I had to come right back afterwards. I CAN NOT believe I graduated fom Santiago Canyon College and never bothered to go here. Along with a variety of items, Pacific Ranch Market also carries many wonderful varieties of different foods and drinks from around the world, not to mention the overwhelming variety of wines to choose from in their wine selection. The day I went they also had, what tasted like, home made salsas samples to try. As a plus, they also carried home made greeting cards and photography, and further, adorable kitchen trinkets for that person in our life who adores cooking. I wanted to just clean out the store. I have shopped at the Ranch for almost 20 years. The variety of products and meats are amazing. The customer service is wonderful. The two areas that are not up to Ranch standards. One is the bakery, which has many excellent offerings, but in many of the products, there is an inferior "fat" used. The aftertaste has caused me to travel to Beverly's Best, Brea, to get bakery goodies. The second is the produce. It looks great and is displayed very nicely, but most is from Mexico. Because of this, I have had to purchase from other vendors or do without. At one time, I purchased most of my produce from from the Ranch. I hate that I don't have the convenience of proximity that I once had before. read more

I used to like this market and it still does have some nice produce and meats. However, since the advent of coronavirus, safety precautions are horrible. There are too many people in the market to be able to practice social distancing, cart wipes are not readily available, some employees wear there masks rolled down and more than half the customers have no mask at all. This is really unforgivable. read more

I like this place, it really is a neighborhood market. The feel is there; the employees are very courteous. The location is large; sizeable to your average supermarket. The wine section is very diverse; they have many microbrews. They have a good sized deli counter, with many premade sides which I'm systematically eating one of each time I stumble in famished after a long day of class (the food at the school cafe is horrendous). They have truffle butter. I have still been looking for a dish to use this in. Bonus: If you are student at SCC, they give you a 10% discount! I think that's pretty cool :) read more

Pacific Ranch Market is like a playground for foodies! Specialty items you can't find elsewhere, e.g. instant espresso powder, unique sauces, coconut syrup for pancakes, pastry flours in various grains (oat, barley, rice) and Old-School DENTYNE!!! (All the sugar, all the guilt! A treat for those of us who are allergic to artificial sweeteners). The seafood counter smells like THE OCEAN, i.e. like it should! The meat counter is loaded with sauages, prepped meats and kabobs ready to cook! The fresh strawberries are strategically positioned so you can't help but catch the heady perfume of real California Strawberries. Of course I can eat 3 pints tonight you think! Aisles are a bit cramped but there's a lot packed into this foodies' paradise. Others like it: Marabella Farmers Market in SJC -- home of the world's best deli chicken salad and coolest deli guy, Mike! One down side... it's pricey. But not unlike WHOLE FOODS. read more

I went into the store Sunday morning and the couple in front of me each took a basket to the shelves with the TP on them and proceeded to take ALL THE TP. There 75-100 rolls. I asked the checker why they weren't setting a limit on what people could buy and he replied, "The owner doesn't care." This is a wonderful gourmet market with a great bakery, but they show very little loyalty to their regular customers. I will not go back to that store. read more

3 strikes I'm out! For the 3rd time in 2 years the Baking department has let me down by failing to have my preordered cake baked or ready. On 7/28/2020 I went to pick up a birthday cake for a coworker that I had preordered 3-4 days before pick up date. I arrived at their preset time for pickup, first thing in the morning to take to work for celebration, and Pacific Ranch had failed to have the cake ready. I wanted to pick up at 8am and when I ordered it, they asked if I could pick it up at 9am so they would have plenty of time. Silly me, I agreed! The lead person in the baking department on 7/28/2020, simply said she was "sorry", but no cake, no other option. To not disappoint my coworker I got a "yesterday's" cake, at full price, since they did NOT even offer a price adjustment. Despite the fact I was told they had baked others that morning, just not my order. Change in ownership is not always for the best. I guess I was expecting better customer service, especially in this day and age, considering I have always bought my cakes there and have recommended many a cake buyers to them, but they lost me as a client in their store. Our favorite market in the area. Great meat/seafood selection with very helpful butcher staff, the wine department offers a more up-scale and diverse selection than the local "big box" stores. The produce is top notch and offers great quality. Staff is always so helpful too! read more

So could I love coming here with my friends and tasting their chips and salsa and always getting a little treat from their bakery. They have a huge selections of goodies from baked goods to delicious ready to go meals. I came here for a delicious coffee drink named "The Grumpy Cat" and been coming here for other cool things ever since and everyone is just so polite and sweet. read more

The bakery is run by the lady who used to run the bakery at Colleary's. We love the cakes she makes so I was happy to see her here! I also like the grocery for not just offering upscale items but different items. I saw brands that I don't see at the local Ralph's. My sister lives nearby so we stopped in to order sandwiches at their deli. While we waited, we wandered the store. Friendly employees were ready to answer any questions we might have and to offer plenty of items for sample. I tried many of their incredible dips, fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, and even freshly baked chocolate cookies at the bakery. One theme I picked up on quickly was - FRESH. There were many items from local farms, which was wonderful to see. You can definitively tell a difference in the local produce vs the not so local produce. Everything I sampled was delicious. Especially their tortilla chips and fresh guacamole. So good, we had to buy some to enjoy with our sandwiches. Once our deli order was ready, we headed home with our finds and fully enjoyed our subs. I had the classic Italian, was was great! Fully loaded with Italian meats, cheese, pepperoncini, Italian dressing, lettuce and tomato. I loved everything about my visit and all my purchases. Although I don't live near this wonderful location, I would happily make the drive for another great Italian sub and other FRESH products! read more

OMG.... the meat department produced the BEST gourmet burgers, seasoned to perfection... I have ever tasted. The meat was so fresh. My guests were so so impressed. Dirty place with expired foods on shelves. They have obviously not done an inventory in a long time because I found products expired from over a year ago. Always check your expiration dates when you shop here. I turned into the front the expired food and told them more of them on the shelf still were past due. A week later I went in to find the expired food still sitting on the shelf! I told them again that day. Eent back today and still there plus I noticed the other brand of same product was expired Nov 2013! Disgusting! Clean out your store and stop violating health codes! Especially when someone notifies you and you do nothing about it. read more

Love this store. I miss the Harris ranch beef they use to carry. The meat counter is why I shop there because best on town. A bit pricey, but meat smells like beef when I cook it. Dairy has great selection. Bakery has yummy treats. Love asparagus and garlic premade packets. Slot of produce is local grown. Love the strawberries!! Highly recommend this local store. read more

I am extremely disappointed at the customer service displayed at this mediocre establishment. I came in to buy a few items but before I began shopping I needed to change my 8 month olds diaper. I went straight to the women's restroom located behind the deli to change my child's diaper and to no avail there was no changing station as I exited I was stopped by the manager and he rudely accosted me and said so are you only going to use my restrooms and not buy anything. I have never been so offended by someone while simply trying to change an infant child's diaper. To all mothers of young children who live in Orange I strongly encourage you to drive a couple miles down the street toward Orange County mining company you can shop at Stater Bros or Albertson's. They have better prices and better selections. I will be emailing a formal complaint too bad I did not catch the name of the manager. read more

We've been going to PRM for many years due to the excellent wine department and the bakery -- both are superb. That's the good news. The bad news is the surly meat department workers never seem to have good day and it totally ruins our shopping experience. Perhaps they forget that they work in a customer facing business but we shouldn't be made to feel as though we're an interruption. We're done trying to overlook the way-below-par service from the meat department and their REALLY EXPENSIVE choice of meats. In other words, we'll drive the 20-25 minutes to Whole Foods and/or Bristol Farms just to avoid the PRM meat workers. At least we'll get a friendly smile, helpful tips and personal service when spending the same amount of money. It's really a shame because the wine and bakery department workers are in a class by themselves -- quite literally at this place. However, that's still not enough to get us to come back and we're done with this place after 15 years. If the wine and bakery teams ever open up their own store, we'll be first in line! read more

This place has a captive audience. When I moved up the street I switched from pavilions to getting my local groceries. When the bill was so high I did a double take I had to switch to just using a hand basket. Even then the price is always $100-$200. I then took a look at the price of each individual item and compared it to other stores. One example being the new breakfast sausages. $6 for 4 patties. Which should last you one day for two people and 2 days for one person. I then checked pavilions they had $3 for 4 patties. A similar trend exists in the whole store, where basic items are literally double the price. The numbers are small enough to not notice but at the end when everything is double not just for "better quality" but the same item just marked up egregiously, you really feel the pain. It's gotten to the point where employees there tell me to shop elsewhere for my basic groceries. However the OJ, Grapefruit juice, banana milk, coffee beans, and meat counter are great! read more

moved to the area recently and made a point to stop by. the good - pastries from the bakery...mmmmm - homemade salsa!!! best, most flavorful salsa verde i've had in awhile. - free coffee samples! - homemade chili from the deli was good and very meaty. the meh - prices. i've heard about the quality of the meat and seafood, so i guess the prices are somewhat warranted. i didn't buy anything from the meat/deli counter other than the chili because it's just too expensive. but i'd rather go to albertsons down the street and get something substantially cheaper for just about the same quality. maybe a little less. - frozen food selection is lackluster - customer service is neither here nor there i won't be a regular shopper, because for what i buy and for what my budget allows, it's not worth it for me to come here. however, i'll be back for more yummy pastries and to try more salsas. read more

Was going mountain biking up the road one weekend and wanted water and energy bars. Never been here but passed it many times. It is tucked away and can easily be passed when going up Chapman. Reminded me a bit like Promelis in Newport Beach. After paying for two waters and energy bars for a buddy and I, the price seemed a bit much. Not sure what prices are like for other things. The place felt "cliquish" to me, with cougar customers looking you over; giving me a weird vibe. Service was OK. Lots of young employees congregating at the pay counter. Nothing really good to say about it, nothing really bad. read more

This is a great litte market. I shop here often. The fruit selection and quality is outstanding. Terrific watermelon, peaches plums, necterines all sweet as can be. We stop every time in the area now. I really enjoy the ambiance, takes you to the old farmers market setting. Super deals, always ask for the coupons!!! and enjoy the experience.
