I've came here a few times for dinner which usually is excellent so we decided to come for lunch. We got the brisket grilled cheese, Caesar salad, a pasta dish, poke bowl and ahi burger. The food was great, although I would not recommend the poke bowl ~ it was good, but there wasn't much fish in my bowl as to the base which was a quinoa type grain and arugula (a little bitter today but that isn't their fault). I would much rather pay $13 for a large poke bowl with lots of condiments elsewhere vs this $17 bowl. Aside from the food, the service was okay, my server was great but the other people weren't very happy and attentive. I asked for someone's attention and I was talking to myself, my table giggled as they thought I was just being too quiet so my boyfriend took a try next and he was ignored for the second time...so we passed the torch to someone else on my table where she finally got someone's attention. We went for Sunday brunch. The staff were friendly and upbeat, but they seemed a bit frantic even though the restaurant wasn't busy and had ample staff. The menu was outdated with items no longer offered. However, the food was excellent. Our favorites included the tomato salad and strawberry tart. With its beautiful ocean view, I highly recommend this restaurant for family brunch. The furniture and tablecloths are a bit plain and could use updating, but they are simple enough not to be off-putting. The grapefruit martini and beer was good but nothing out of the ordinary and nothing on tap available. Bread was really delicious and came out piping hot and very tasty and chewy. Highly recommend! Calamari quite bready but came in a generous portion. The squid was a lot softer than I'm used to. There were mixed opinions about the chimichurri sauce and I thought the other one was much better. Poke nachos were good but the fish was kind of mushy. I thought the ratio of topping to nacho was perfect and the flavor was great. Crab cakes were also pretty mushy but well fried. Arugula on the side was crisp! We were pretty full from that and the appetizers were not encouraging so we didn't end up getting a main. The Synergy gift card from Costco led me here. They no longer validate parking but it's not expensive. We ordered the sourdough bread which is served with a pink sea salt butter and the salmon. The salmon was delicious and is served on a bed of mashed potatoes and a heaping pile of perfectly charred asparagus. The plate is drizzled with this amazing sauce that is unlike anything I've ever had. The lunch plates were reasonable but the drinks were Vegas club prices which isn't too unreasonable considering location and view. The manager was very nice and complimented us a banana dessert that reminded me of a creme brulee. I enjoyed dining here and will be returning shortly. read more

Let me preface this is the 2nd time I've come to this restaurant. That might say it wasn't memorable the first time. However, 15 minutes into the bunch I remembered a few things that rang true for this place. Again. The view is incredible and the place has a great patio overlooking the Del Mar downtown area and ocean. It has white linen tables and nice set-up which does welcome a nice environment. Unfortunately, the service is slow and quite terrible. 15 minutes without being greeted- mind you I was with a 5 year old. I would assume the staff should read the room in terms of serving customers. Kids aren't the most patience. The pre-fixe menu for Mother's Day has a great variety for both adults and kids adult was $60/pp - starter, entree, beverage + dessert. Kids was $25/pp- with entree, beverage + dessert. The food is mediocre at best. Items were a bit cold - assuming the server just took forever to expo. Also not much conversation from the staff - so would have to say the team don't come off friendly. I won't make the mistake going back. There are way better 100+ brunch for 2 in the area. read more

This place is always great. I have lived here for 19 years and have dined here probably 50 times and never been disappointed. The setting - and the ambience - while overlooking the ocean and the L'Auberge Del Mar Hotel is amazing. Parking is easy (it has a parking garage attached). Lots of cool shops and things to see going in and out of the restaurant. Beautiful Christmas Tree during the holiday season (if that's your thing) outside - and decorated inside. Great pics for your FB/IG account. Live music often happening on weekends as well - not in the restaurant, but out on the patio. Food is always seasonal, freshly prepared and tasty. Lots of healthy options (e.g. they will grill your fish with just olive oil and any seasoning or sauces can be put on the side, and they will steam veggies etc...). The Chef Selections and House Specials are always that - special and select. The menu has something for everyone, and it's not one of the "phone book" (remember those!) menus where it has pages and pages to go through. Neat, clean, easy to read, and the serving staff is always very helpful. The bartenders make excellent drinks, and if you are sitting at the bar (which is fun, too!) you can ask them about new/different drinks and concoctions and they will never steer you wrong. Pricewise? Hey, you're in Del Mar looking at the ocean, so it ain't cheap. Without a lot of drinks, plan on $50-75 per person - with drinks plan on $100-120. But hey - you only live once. Enjoy yourself once in a while - and when you do, head to Pacifica - you won't regret it. read more

Every dish our table ordered had eggs and what a mess : some were hard boiled, others virtually undercooked (all poached eggs). Just very disappointing. The avo toast with roast tomato etc was a joke - the feta was in the form of miniscule flakes strongly resembling goldfish food. Everytime I think of the meal it results in a meh. This is my favorite restaurant in SD County! My family has been coming here for years. We went today to a visit to Del Mar Beach and thought, since we had a gift card and we wanted to go to see the beautiful view, we would go to Pacifica Del Mar. Even though it was slightly chilly outside, they put on heat lamps and seated us right near the outer end, overlooking a gorgeous ocean view! We enjoy eating somewhat healthy, so we ordered the delicious-sounding roasted delicate squash salad to split. It had plenty of tasty arugula, sweet dried figs, juicy pomegranate arils, puffed quinoa, feta and a yummy vinaigrette. It was plenty for us to share. Coming here is also great for their weekend brunch! Either brunch or lunch is a good deal, especially if you are splitting! They will even split it for you. Their specialty is their sugar-spiced salmon, which also makes the best hash at the weekend brunch. The salmon is a steal for lunch as well, compared to most places, at $19 with an awesome ocean view to boot! We also got their special warm olive sourdough bread with sea salt butter. Yum! $3. In all, our bill was about $19, with tax. We had a gift card so, $0 in all. This place is a good deal for the nice-sized portions, fresh seafood and other foods and changing chef-created delectable options. It never disappoints! We tried and thoroughly LOVED Pacifica Del Mar's Christmas Day 3-Course dinner and the experience of ordering and picking up our meal. We ordered two dinners comprising Dinner #1 (Butternut Squash Soup + Rack of Lamb + Mocha Semifreddo for dessert) and Dinner #2 (Wild Arugula Salad + Roasted Rack of Lamb + Meyer Lemon Tartlet) to be picked up at 5:15 PM. Stacey, the Director fo Group sales was so wonderful to work with on ordering our dinner. I arrived by the passenger drop-off loop off the 15 as instructed and upon pulling up, was greeted by the manager on-site, asking if I was "Edward," and was told they were packing up the meal and would be down in 2 minutes. Perfect timing, delivery and service!! I didn't realize that the dinner came with garlic broccolini and what I think was cheesy grits but every bite was savored with absolute joy!! The lamb was perfectly cooked. And the desserts, . . . . . . amazing!! I hope they will have a special to-go dinner option for New Year's Eve!! read more

This entire review is basically dedicated to their taco Tuesday deal so if you are going for a different reason then disregard. I got the filet mignon taco and it was so good. I can't even begin to describe how flavorful it was. And it was $1.50 for taco Tuesday. A taco that good for that price, talk about a win. I also had a traditional margarita which was delicious as well. The margarita was $10 thanks to taco Tuesday, and yet it tasted like a $20 margarita to me. I was super pleased by the Pacifica and would recommend to anyone in the area. The ambiance is very nice and felt upscale, but not too fancy that it was intimidating for someone just looking for a happy hour. I sat at the bar and the bartender was super attentive too. Love everything about this place! The view, food and service was outstanding! I had some of the best mussels of my life! So plump and fresh, I almost thought I was back in the Burgundy region of France. We had a large group of 12 ladies and everyone loved their food as well. We arrived right at sunset and it was spectacular! Only complaint is they won't do separate checks so bring cash if you are in a group. It is 2023, almost 2024 so they have no excuses for not modernizing their point of sale system to the hand held credit card machines that can be brought to the table. read more

Came here for a rehearsal dinner and everything I ate here was great! Delicious and amazing. From the olive bread they served before the meal, all the cocktails I ate and the dishes for dinner- amazing. I ended up with the short rib, which was good but on the dry side for me. 3.5 stars but the olive bread saved it to 5 stars i swear to god. I did have a taste of their ahi tuna dish and that...was amazing. Seriously very very good and I will come again JUST for that. The desserts we got- creme brulee, passion fruit sorbet- delicious. One thing I have to say- is that their servers were so rushed to move plates that they took our dessert that was like half full and we were in the middle of EATING and took away the bread that we were still eating. Like the bread was on our plate and they took away the plate. I was really really really sad because that olive bread was so good. I think the waiters should at least ask us if we're finished instead of grabbing it and sprinting away before we could say anything. We were shocked. As far as the cocktails- aperol spritz, white and red wine and grapefruit martini was amazing and over all the service was very friendly, at least the guy and girl getting our drinks/order were. the people taking away the plates were different people. read more

It's not just the ahi, it's the cake of lightly browned, buttery rice that's beneath it. I've never enjoyed rice this much before. Oysters, poke, filet -- I haven't eaten anything here that I haven't fully enjoyed. Drinks: Great wine selection by the glass -- but also come for the $9 u-call-it martinis on Wednesday. And remember the quote about martinis, about how like something else, one is too few and three is too many? These are real, adult-sized martinis here. Service and employees: They're all gracious and happy. My pup drags me here (oh so unwillingly, of course) so she can hang out with Taylor, who's also the best waitress there. (Taylor, the male bartender one, is a good guy too). Location: Front patio is great for catching ocean views and sunset glows, as well as seeing the action coming out of Monarch (another review, another time). Many restaurant tables have stellar, direct ocean and sunset views. Note that the lower level is the Pacifica Breeze Cafe, which is pretty damn good for breakfast, and a different business that I don't think serves martinis. We were disappointed. It looks like a great place, but to start with, the service was not as good as we expected. The waiter was surly and inattentive. The wine list contained only what you'd find in any local grocery store, local chardonnays and cabernet sauvignons. And when the food came (Gemelli prawn pasta), it was too spicy to eat, which was not indicated on the menu. We will not be back.
