The view is amazing. That's where it ends. We had the brussel sprouts and mussels as an app. The brussel sprouts weren't cut thinly enough to get crispy and barely had honey or truffle flavor. They sent us the Spanish seafood stew by mistake and unfortunately it was horrible. All the seafood in the stew was overcooked. I had the halibut as an entree. The sauce was really delicious but the fish was so overcooked it was like cat food. They re-made it but it was overcooked again. Food & service was mediocre @ best. Ordered eggs Benedict & the food arrived ice cold, the English muffin wasn't toasted, eggs were HARD BOILED, Canadian bacon was like leather & there was virtually NO hollandaise on the plate! They also smothered the eggs with arugula! Never had green foliage served on top of a Benedict! It was the worst eggs Benedict I've ever eaten! Server was young, inexperienced & had no attention to detail. Dirty plates & glasses stacked up on the table. No checking back after food arrived. Constantly had to hunt her down to get her attention. She couldn't answer any questions about the seafood items on the menu & actually said, "I don't like or eat seafood, sorry!" Beyond impressed by our experience at Pacifica Del Mar - I only wish I found out about them sooner! - PARKING - There's a parking structure directly connected to the Del Mar Plaza, which makes it easy for you to walk to and from your car quickly. I believed we paid $3.00/hr - not sure if some of the businesses validate parking or not, but we forgot to ask! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Pretty large area, with seating arrangements inside and outside - many will say the view is a huge part of Pacifica's appeal, and I would agree! The sun was setting when we came for an early dinner, and it was gorgeous! We were lucky to snag a table outside right at the edge too. Service was absolutely amazing from start to finish, super attentive and great attitudes all around! Once we ordered, our dishes came out fairly quick and in good cadence with courses. - FOOD - Salmon Belly Sashimi ($20.00): I'm a Salmon Belly girl, and so when I say this ended up not being my favorite out of the dinner items we had, that's when you know Pacifica has a lot to offer!!! The Salmon was nice and buttery, but I think it was a bit too lime-y to enjoy fully. Warm Olive Sourdough 1/4 Loaf ($3.00): 100% get this!!! It's only $3 but it will definitely elevate your dining experience, especially if you have anything sauce-y to dip in later on! The crust is amazing, and the inside of the loaf is so soft! The butter was delicious too! Steamed Mussels ($20.00): WOW these were absolutely amazing! This was just the start of being impressed, with the Mussels being cooked perfectly, and not a single one tasted ocean-y. The Red Curry Coconut Broth was delicious as well - the server kindly recommended we dip our Sourdough Bread in the sauce and it was amazing! Seared Diver Scallops ($41.00): These may have been the best cooked scallops I've ever had! At least one of the three we got was the epitome of a perfect scallop - the sear was great, but the inside was still soft! The second scallop was just slightly cooked longer but still very soft, and the third was similar to other scallops we've had in the past, where it's still delicious but had a chew. But that first scallop was enough to blow us away as we've never had one as good as that! Grilled 7oz Filet Mignon ($53.00): This was definitely the best Filet Mignon I've had. Super tender, great flavor, great sear. The accompanying Broccolini and Fingerling Potatoes were amazing as well. Pacifica's Burnt Cream (Creme Brulee - $9.00): We wanted to smack the top of the Cream to get the crack, but it fell short of our expectations by landing softly. However we were pleasantly surprised when we ate it, it definitely had some crunchy caramel bits! Very delicious!!! My wife and I love this restaurant. The food and view are outstanding. One significant complaint is from our experience on July 10, 2025. We had a reservation for outside dining and were immediately seated at a wonderful table. Our server who was outstanding all night took our drink order which was delivered. We then had a hard time getting his attention to come back though out the evening. I told him I noticed he looked like he was the only server on the patio. I will say that I've only tried their lunch menu, so this review is strictly for that - I've heard better things about dinner, so I may come back to try their dinner menu to see if it's better. Lunch was okay, it wasn't bad at all, I was just expecting more from a place in Del Mar with relatively good reviews. There's definitely better places from lunch in the surrounding area. I came here for a team dinner on a work trip to San Diego and we were excited to try this spot after hearing great things from coworkers. We were able to easily make a reservation for 6pm on Monday night and were promptly seated once we arrived in the patio area. While the patio gives you a great view of the ocean / the sunset for dinner, do be aware that the sun can be pretty bright and we were pretty uncomfortable from the heat, especially people who were sitting facing the sun. Definitely bring sunglasses if you're seated outside. Onto the food - we ordered the calamari, both salads, and bread to start which were all good. We loved the fish sauce based dipping sauce that came with the calamari which added a good compliment to the rich spicy mayo. Between us, we ordered a variety of dishes, from the halibut, to swordfish, salmon and branzino. I personally ordered the branzino which was great and I love that they serve it whole! The fish itself could have had more flavor but the lemon on the side definitely helped and I loved the bed of farro it was served on. Dessert was good as well - we tried a variety with the bon bon, lemon tart, and chocolate fudge cake. All were good but nothing super spectacular. On a funny/interesting note, the menu states that the salmon is ~ harmoniously raised ~ so of course we had to ask what that meant. Our server struggled to answer this question and ended up simply saying that we could feel good eating it. Of course a lot of salmon nowadays state they are humanely raised but if it's included on the menu, probably good to make sure the staff know what it means and can explain it clearly. read more

Headed in to Pacifica for a late lunch when Monarch was too loud. I got the fettuccine and added chicken. For $16.00 plus $5.00 add on for chicken I was disappointed. The pasta was pasta. The sauce was really thin rather than a rich/heavy fettuccine. Peas were fine and there was a scattering of asparagus chunks but enough to practically miss it was there at all. The chicken was delicious but I wished there was more of it. I wrestled with how many stars to give. In my heart if the whole thing had been $16.00 it would have been decent but at $22.00 I wanted it to be better. HOWEVER, thinking about how expensive every thing has gotten post CoviD I guess this is a solid option for $22.00. I think my gripe is I was wanting a more indulgent pasta experience and this was more of a budget outing so I was let down. The view was lovely and the outside area is quite nice! I'd still definitely go back but with the idea in mind that I'm here for the wine (which was great) and the view! Not so much the food. A complaint that I did not factor in to this score (because it has nothing to do with Pacifica) is the parking in the structure is free only for an our and is then $3.00 for every 30 minutes after. Just hubby and I on Thanksgiving. Wasn't sure what to do and panicking last minute to find something on such short notice. After 3 other attempts at other places, we ended up at Pacifica. Thankfully I saw a reservation open up! I jumped on it. They did have Thanksgiving specials which offered the traditional choices. It was really nice since we couldn't make it to any family gatherings this year. All the food tasted amazing. Hubby ordered the prime rib and it was so good. I ordered the turkey and that was great as well. Loved the traditional sides it came with like mashed potatoes, green beans and stuffing. Staff was great and welcoming. We sat out on their large patio which has a wonderful view of the ocean! We were one of the first tables of the night to get seated, but as the rest of the patio filled up it did get quite loud and difficult to hear conversations across our table. Great customer service though, our server in particular was superb. We ordered a variety of appetizers including the poke, calamari, and crab cake. The poke was nothing special, but the calamari and crab cake were both well prepared and very delicious! I got the salmon entree and it did not disappoint. Located in a multi level shopping complex this restaurant is on the top floor providing lovely sunset views. Parking is under the complex and was not all that expensive as I recall ($3 an hour I think); we were only there for a couple hours for dinner. We made a reservation and so glad we did as they were fully booked. We got lucky with the weather, and it was a perfect evening to sit on the patio and watch the sunset. We got a bottle of wine... Albarino, Tangent. Paired nicely with our seafood dinner. We started with the mussels and oysters. The oysters seemed to have been sitting for a bit ...OR... the plate was too close to something that was hot as the ice under them was mostly melted. Wasn't a huge fan of these. They were just ok. The mussels however were very good and I would recommend them. The red curry coconut broth was flavorful, but not overpowering. They give you quite a few mussels so you could easily make a meal out of this appetizer. For dinner we had the seabass and scallops. Both were good, solid dishes. The seabass was better than the scallops. The scallops seemed a bit gummy in the middle, and the proscuitto on top seemed to overpower the scallops. Normally I like a bit of proscuitto on top of anything but this time, I think it was distracting. Total for everything was $149, which (IMO) is not bad. read more

We stopped by Pacifica for an appetizer and drinks before dinner elsewhere. We had a half order of their Signature dish - note the capital S. It is worthy of it! Our waitress was prompt, helpful and courteous. We shared a half order of their Sugar-Spiced Verlasso Salmon, see pic. This picture doesn't do justice to the aroma or the preparation. Originally I was put-off this name of mixing sugar-spiced with salmon. The waitress correctly explained that sugar is an ingredient in the dry rub that forms the crust. To my taste, the rub wasn't sweet but savory. I think the sugar actually is primarily for caramelization, which is done quite well. But more importantly, the salmon was cooked perfectly. The fillet had a nice pink flesh inside and caramelized outside - all very moist. The garlic mashed potatoes were done well, and the mustard sauce wasn't overpowering and was a complement. This is a definite dish to have and worth spoiling your dinner for. read more
