Terrible, terrible, terrible people! Had issue with my control arms on my brand new mustang, this was misdiagnosed as a loose wheel well molding last July brought it there twice and the so called mechanics told me the same story both times. Fast forward to April of 2013, control arms bad, alignment off, tires feathered and bad. They replaced the control arms for free, then put the brand new tires on the rear instead of where they belong on the front with the fresh control arms, alignment, etc. I got my car back and it was all scratched up so I called the service manager and he told me to bring in, I did this this morning, and this guy treated me like I was trying to steal from him, and he also called me a liar and the damage could not have possibly been done in his shop. I will not buy any more vehicles from these guys or get service. All the service people are assholes too! Only the sales team is worth a shit here! read more

My husband and I both bought our cars here, and I have all of my regular service done here. I've always been happy with their service and staff. When we've recently started looking for a new car, we went to Packey Webb, again. They're upfront and honest about necessary service for your car and don't pressure you into anything. They were also excellent squeezing me in during an emergency situation and they were very empathetic (I was also very patient while waiting since they were kind enough to squeeze me in). I've recommended Packey Webb to a co-worker, who ended up buying a car from them and has also been happy with their service and staff. read more

I would never buy another car from Packey Webb again. I was looking for a small suv for my 17 year old daughter to get to work and college. Decided to look at a dealer and spend a little more money than I wanted so I could get a more dependable car for her. Bought a 2005 Ford Escape on Saturday. My daughter drove it twice and only owned it for 3 days when it decided to break down and leave her stranded. We brought it back to the dealer to have them look at it. They knew we only had it for 3 days and didn't want to cut us a break on the repairs. They ended up only charging us for the part and not the labor. $1300.00 for a part really? Talked to the used car manager and the service department manager and we were told that there was nothing else they could do for us. I feel that they sold us an suv that was ready to break and that they should have fixed it for free. Even if they would have offered to pay for half of the part I would have been satisfied. If you buy an suv from a dealer that they said they checked out and did some repairs on it.......you would think that it would last more than 3 days! read more

My sister and I bought 2 brand new cars on the same day from the dealership, both put a large down payment, and our dad co-signed to get 0% financing. I was trading in my car, and the sales guy asked me if I had researched the trade-in value at all, which I had, and I told him what Kelley Blue Book valued my car at for a dealer trade-in. While he was figuring out the rest of the numbers, they were surveying my trade-in. He wrote the value I told him down on the paper, along with the rest of the numbers and offers, and had me SIGN that if what he wrote down was approved by the manager, I would approve the monthly payment he figured, which I was happy with, and he was also going to check on my trade-in. He came back with the approval and an adjusted monthly payment that included the taxes, titles, and fees for the financing, which was actually much better than the original monthly payment. We approved, and went into the business office to sign the papers, where they then FORCED us to buy an extended warranty, giving my dad, who has a credit score over 800, some spiel that since he's an out-of-state co-signer that Ford required the extra "protection" to cover the whole financing period. Since my dad was on the phone 1500 miles away and didn't want to argue anymore, we accepted it. I got home, looked over my paperwork, and got very angry. To my surprise, they gave me $700 less for my trade-in than what the sales guy originally had written down! I know that dealers typically won't give you exactly what Blue Book claims your car is worth, but I expected the sales guy to come back and tell me that after he was supposedly "checking" on it, not coming back acting like everything was approved! He never even told me what they were giving me, and I was surprised at that level of deception, especially since we were buying 2 brand new cars. Also, I did more research at home about the extended warranty BS, only to find that that is not Ford's protocol. If my car breaks down out of warranty, why do they care how it's paid for? I am very disappointed at the lack of professionalism and honesty, when we were buying 2 brand new cars with large down payments. Originally they were going to mail our dad the contracts to co-sign, but at the last minute decided to do e-signatures instead, and now I'm inclined to believe it was so my dad didn't dispute the paperwork when he got it and now it's too late. Side note, we got there at 9:30, a half hour after the dealership opened, believing that was PLENTY of time to sign the paperwork, since we had previously test-driven both cars and the credit apps had already been run and verified, and my sister had to be at work at 1. We were there for over 3 and a half hours, didn't leave until 1, and they kept saying "we will get you out of here as soon as possible", knowing my sister had to work. I understand it's a process, for 2 cars, and they were very nice (at the time) but I have bought a car before, and that's just excessive. One more thing - they also gave me a car that had 280 miles on it already - it's not a huge deal, but I would have appreciated being notified of that or asked if that was ok. I wanted a 2016 Ford Edge that was extremely hard to find (a color not manufactured a lot). After visiting MANY car dealers, I finally went to Packey Webb. I wish I had simply gone there to begin with and not wasted so much valuable time at other dealers. Packey Webb truly cares about pleasing their customers. Contrary to one's typical view of car dealers, this dealership will make every effort to ensure you walk out the door satisfied. They do not "hide" costs/fees and they do not try to oversell. My personal experience with Dave Gurtler was an enjoyable experience. Car buying is almost as difficult as house buying, and Dave listened to my needs, went over and beyond meeting them (even driving 250 miles personally to pick up my car), and was, quite truthfully, extremely kind. I highly recommend Packey Webb, and in particular, Dave Gurtler, to anyone looking to buy. I promise you, you will not walk out the door unsatisfied. read more

I am still reaping the pain from the 7 hard inquires they performed on our credit as they danced around for the bank that would give them the best rate. I brought my car in to have a simple Check Engine light examined, with the vehicle still within the 5 year / 60,000 mile power-train warranty under the reasonable impression that an engine-related defect would be covered under Ford's standard warranty. After the service technician was finished examining the cause of the problem, I was charged a whopping $140 "diagnostic" fee, which only involved the service technician plugging in an OSB sensor and reading off a computer code. This type of test can be done for free at Auto Zone. The only reason I went to the dealer from the start was due to the warranty being in play, and because I wanted to give this local dealership the chance to win over my business for future maintenance outside of routine oil changes and tires. This $140 charge did not include the additional cost of the proposed repair, which involved the replacement of a canister purge valve, for which they wanted to charge me an extra $265. The part only costs about $40-50 on Auto Zone and the installation is fairly simple. When I disputed the diagnostic charge with the service manager I was essentially fed a load of garbage about how diagnosing the problem involved a large amount of disassembly and labor, despite the whole process taking less than half an hour and not requiring any physical diagnosis beyond the computer code. I pointed out that I assumed this would be a warranty-covered repair given that it was a "check engine light" issue, and the power-train warranty covers any defects in engine components. The service manager's excuse was that because the faulty component was technically part of the emissions system, the engine warranty didn't cover it's replacement. I explained that a $140 fee to simply check a computer code was insane given that I could have had that performed for free nearly anywhere else. I only came to the dealer based on the rapport that I had begun to build with them from my past visits. At this point the service manager started to become agitated and soon became outright abusive and aggressive, repeatedly stating that I "was going to pay the fee" if I wanted my car released. I then asked if this is how they treat all repeat customers, and if he thought losing all of my future business as a local dealership and repair facility was really worth $140 to him. I had even mentioned before the time of the repair that I was planning on having a coolant flush performed with them, which alone would have been about $150 of future business, not to mention the $700+ I had previously spent on tires there. The manager shrugged this off and mentioned that he "sells tires all the time" and clearly implied that my repeated business was not a concern of his. Because of the downright abusive, misleading, egotistical, rude, and highly unprofessional manner in which I was treated, and the fact that they charged me over $100 to perform no work and not actually resolve my problem, I cannot recommend this dealership to anybody for any reason. I highly advise potential customers to steer clear of this place in favor of an independent repair shop, or at least a different Ford dealer. While my experience dealt only with the service department, any dealership upper management that allows this type of behavior from its staff should be avoided at all costs. read more

Had a bad experience at this dealer. Salesman was very nice but in the end proved to be a typical car salesman. I was trying to buy a new car, agreed upon a price but in the end they tried to screw me out of a rebate that ford was offering. I'm glad my husband new how much the price should have been after tax, title etc and recognized we were being cheated. After saying we had not agreed to that price another salesman had to come over and tried to tell us that we were in fact wrong and that was the price agreed to with the rebate. We left without purchasing. They have since left me 2 voicemails asking to "discuss the miscommunication" of pricing. If we proceed with buying a ford it will definitely not be at packey Webb. Bottom line make sure you know your out the door price with the taxes, etc and the rebate. read more

Had my car in for repairs on a Friday 2 minutes after picking up car the check engine light goes on. I return it and am told it will be the first car taken care of in the morning. At 11:00 no word so I call they say they will call back by noon. Nothing so I call again at 2:00 they say it's ready they had taken it for a long test drive. I pick it up a 3:00. The next morning it's freezing so I turn the defroster on, it sound like a helicopter taking off. It's Sunday so I send an email to literally all the Partners, sales manager, service manager and my salesman. I have bought 5 cars from them in 10 years. Surprisingly I get no calls from anyone. read more

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM PACKEY WEBB in DOWNERS GROVE. I recently purchased my 3rd car at the Packey Webb location. When it was Madden Ford, we enjoyed their service, reasonable and negotiable prices. Unfortunately, we went back to the Packey Webb dealership to buy a used car for my grandsons graduation. It was a terrible experience! We purchased the car with the verbal promise that if anything goes wrong they would fix it within 30 days time span. I was very concerned about heath and safety. : Stormin Norman" was the sales persons name who made the promise along with the young sales manager who also said they would honor our simple request. AND they said we can trust them. Sadly the same day we purchased the 1997 Cadillac, We found oil leaking that night in our driveway. Being concerned, I took it to my mechanic they found gaskets put on incorrectl. Which Packey admitted they inspected and the sway bar was broken. Packey webb claimed this car belong to the Packey family friend and it was excellent. When we took it to packey webb to try to get them to fix the problem, They suddenly played amnesia. Its sad, an 18 year old witnessed the distrust of this company for a gift he was gracious to get. Too bad, They not only lost our business but all future business because they lied and went back on their word, and can't be trusted. This simple $500 mistake on their part will now cost them all loosing future sales from me and my family and the friends I tell. . These unethical people are the type that give used car dealerships and sales a bad name They think they gave me a deal, I paid over blue book value based on how they promised excellence in mechanical condition. I went to this dealership with my Lincoln MKZ to have a problem diagnosed and right away I could tell that this dealership understood how quality service works. They were efficient with the initial diagnosis and got back to me in the waiting area, within, what I felt was a reasonable amount of time. I subsequently authorized them to perform $2,400 in repairs on my vehicle (water pump replacement). I was a little disappointed that they charged me $80 for the diagnosis. General practice is if you have the work performed at the time of the diagnosis the repair facility will waive the diagnosis fee. After authorizing the repair I confirmed with the dealership the timeline to complete the repair and they informed be that it would take about 2 days. That was a timeline that I was very happy about, but, was prepared for a longer timeline. To my surprise they hit that timeline, much to my elation given that I drive a lot for my livelihood. Overall I was please with the service and repair of my vehicle. A follow up visit to address after service issues ( it was a major undertaking for this repair) was handled in a pleasant and accommodating manner. Overall I would give this dealership an A- for my experience. The aforementioned diagnosis charge a and $3.25 fee (come on a $2,400 repair bill) for replacing the battery on my key Fob were the only items that took away from this experience. Our car was in for service. When we arrived to pick up the car at the cashier desk. We were told that our car was not yet done, and to have a seat. A salesman who's desk faces the cashier, was looking at my daughter. When we sat down in the waiting area, we heard the salesman make a reference to my daughters butt and how her shorts were tight. When we paid for our car I asked the girl who that salesman was. She said his name was Adam Pineda. He is a short chubby and possibly Asian guy with a split between his teeth. i work for a contracting company in the west burbs. In december, Packey Webb advertised a truck for sale that i thought would fit our gowing company's needs i went to look at the truck and spoke to Todd Budish. Todd assigned a salesman to help show me the truck. after a test drive and inspection i felt the truck was nice and asked them to hold it so the owner of my company could look at it. Todd asked me to provide a credit card to hold the deposit and sign a form. The owner of our company looked at the truck and ultimately decided to purchase a new vehicle from another dealer. in early January when our office received the American Express bill, there was a charge of $2500 from Packey Webb. While it is certainly my fault for not fully reading the paper i signed to hold the truck, i was shocked to learn that they had me sign a form allowing a $2500 non refundable deposit if i chose not to purchase the vehicle. the owner of our company has since been in to see Todd Budish and request a refund several times with no success. when i posted the american express card i did so in good faith to show that we were serious about the potential purchase. i was never told that the deposit was non refundable and the area that states this is on the back in small writing. i am shocked that there are business that operate in this manner. i will never purchase another vehicle from Packey Webb read more

Just left the lot. I wanted to do a test drive & the salesman, forgot his name, mumbled something about it being Friday and then increasingly became a pain in the ass. Nothing personal, truly, he just was. Wouldn't let me take it off the lot by myself, made my daughter get in the back seat, didn't have the car I wanted, the car he did have had rain streaks all over it & then told me we had to go to the gas station first. I worked with Nick B. on finding my 2014 Ford Focus. I was also talking to other dealers to see what they could do for me, but all of them we're just trying to get me in the door. Not Nick. Nick was calm, answered my questions, and was upfront about what he could do. When I arrived at the dealership, I had my own financing. They did offer to find me a better rate, and while they probably could have, I chose to stick with my lender. Nick and I ended up working with one of the Webb brothers themselves (always a good thing to have the people who's name is on the sign helping you out in the dealership itself). We came together on a price, and I couldn't be happier with my new car. The whole process took around 2.5 hours (compared to the 3.5-4 Ive spent at past dealerships) and I was out the door. Five star rating mostly due to their ability to be upfront. They did not try to play a single game with me, or hide anything. read more

I dropped off my car for an oil change for my Ford Fiesta. While I was waiting for it to be done they told me that there was a recall on my door latches and it normally takes a few hours. I was concerned because I still had to go to work. They hooked me up with a free rental car because of the inconvenience. It ended up taking about 2 days because other stuff turned out to be wrong with the car too.. Brakes, cabin filter, cracked windshied. They fixed it all and I never paid a cent for the rental. I totally trusted Packey Webb and knew I wasn't being taken advantage of like other car places I've been to. read more

They might have a great service department if they can't see you until two weeks in advance. First day I went in for a drive up oil change and was told it wouldn't be possible to have an oil change done. I needed to call in to set an appointment up. Couldn't do it there. So I called in and no answer, and kept calling in. I called 5 times throughout the entire from 10AM until 5 PM and never got an answer. I left a message with a receptionist at lunch and was never called back. Finally on the 6th call just before close I got through, and was told I wouldn't get in for two weeks. Who schedules oil changes two weeks in advance? So I went to local mechanic for the oil change. While there asked him to refill the ac because it wasn't working. The mechanic said it was a crack in the ac unit and needed to be seen by the dealer because I'm still under warranty. So I call Packey back and go to set up the appointment and say I'm close to mileage and Packey Service Department responded with I should drive the truck to not hit the mileage. Is this place ran by a bunch of fools or what. I need to drive to work. It's been a day and am still waiting to hear from the manager of the shop. I am going to find a different service center to help me out with the warranty claim, one that doesn't ask me to not drive my vehicle for two weeks and one that can see me with two weeks. read more

I own a 2011 Edge Sport and am usually satisfied with the service through packey Webb. But I took my car there because my tire kept losing a lot of air (down to 12lbs) within a couple days. The service writers, as usual are very nice but the technician I am not very happy with. First he came out and asked where I bought the wheels and tires from. I told him they are factory and it looked like he didn't believe me. For those that dont know, the sport comes with 22" wheels. I woulda thought a ford tech woulda known that. The tech said he found nothing wrong after inspecting the tire and dunking it to check for leaks. He resealed the tire to the wheel and was finished. I loaded my baby into the carseat as the service writer came to thank me. We talked for a minute as I looked down and instantly noticed a screw in the tire. For a tech who had the wheel and tire off the car and supposedly inspected it, how the hell do you miss a bigsilver screw sticking out. The service writer apologized and said they would take care of it. They did give me a card for a free oil change too. I am usually pleased with the service but disappointed this time. Maybe after I go for the oil change, I'll add another star or two if service is more satisfactory. read more

This review is specifically regarding the body shop. I had my rear bumper replaced last summer. Since then, the paint has started peeling off, to the point when I grab onto a piece and peel off a chunk like wallpaper. When I brought it back in to get repaired, the manager Bruce told me it was due to getting rear ended, even though the damage he mentioned from a alleged accident was on the opposite side of my bumper. When I called the shop to discuss the issue, another rep there, Greg, told me my opinion was correct three separate times and the paint should not be chipping like that. When I told Bruce this, he said Greg "doesn't know anything." Which led me to ask why they would employ people there that don't "know anything" and allow them to talk to clients on the phone. Bruce refused to have a conversation with me...he would only keep telling me he's an "expert with 36 years of experience." Told me I would have to go through my insurance company if I don't believe him. He kept trying to pass the buck to other locations or other employees and told me it's "not his problem."
