I''ve never gone out of my way to leave a bad review before but my experience with this moving company with so bad I feel compelled to say something in hopes that someone else can avoid it. I was given a quote for 2 men/$150 hour ($140 cash) for my 600sq ft apartment. Estimate was 3-5 hours, $450-$750. This is in line with my move time/costs in the past, I've moved about 4 times in the past 5 years. I pulled out $1k cash out of my bank, thinking that would be more than enough to cover the move and pay a generous tip. (Spoiler alert, it was not) I moved 10 mins away, there was an elevator at both locations, and I also sold a bunch of my furniture including my bed - so the only furniture they had to move was a dresser, couch, and coffee table. Easy peasy. Long story short, they took 7 1/2 hours to move my stuff. 2 1/2 hours over the high end of the estimate. The truck they brought was SO small. It was about the size of a small uhaul. It was so small they asked me to take a last load in my car over because the truck was full all the way to the ceiling by the end of it. I wish I was exaggerating. When it was time to pay, I pushed back about the total, explaining it was egregiously above the high end of estimate that was quoted. He complained about a long hallway and said that I should have hired 3 movers for this job. He said "look I'm just a worker" when in reality I found out later I was speaking to Alex - the owner of the company, who provided me the initial quote and recommended 2 movers in the first place. The total was $1050 for 7 1/2 hours, to move a 600sq ft apartment 10 mins away with an elevator at both locations and minimal furniture. The worst part is he had the audacity to complain I didn't tip enough. I've read previous reviews and I'm honestly shocked they are so positive, this is why I booked Packing Bees Movers in the first place. In my opinion I think a lot of these must be spam reviews. Didn't have a great experience to be honest. Over the phone they said they charge a flat rate per hour however is not true. They will charge you for heavy items, and will ask you to tip at least 15%. Also don't buy boxes or anything from them, buy them at home depot, if you buy any supply from them, ask them the price in advance. They worked for 7 hours, the grand total was 1890, even though i asked them to let me know if we would go more than 1500, They were fast for the first 3 hours, then they slowed down, i understand they can get tired though. So, if you will hire them, ask them for the heavy items fees in advance and don't forget about the tip as you will be asked for it. Also i got a receipt from "4S Moving Inc" not sure why i didn't get it from "Packing Bees movers". personally i wont recommend them and i will not hire them again read more

I feel it's important to tell the truth in life, and sometimes, the truth hurts. I'm moving out of state, and while I initially planned to have my moving company handle packing my most fragile items, I thought I would look around for someone local, so that the stuff could be ready to go the day of the move. When I came across Packing Bees on Yelp, I had a good feeling, a 5 star rating isn't the norm. I called and spoke to a guy, who was friendly and knowledgeable. I explained my situation, that I needed packing of fragile and sentimental items, and that I had interstate movers already, but I just wanted everything ready to go when they arrived. He assured me, that this was up their alley and that they were expert packers, asked me for a rough idea of how much I had, and gave me a quote over the phone $175 per hour for 3 workers with a 3 hour minimum ($165 if I paid cash), and if I wanted them to use their supplies they'd charge for that. He said I was looking at probably $700-800 for the job. I felt good about it, and told him I'd get back to him. He said I could call back or text to set it up. I texted the next day. We set the date. He asked if I wanted them to bring their own supplies, I told him yes, and then I anxiously awaited the day to arrive while I begrudgingly packed up the rest of my stuff. The packers were slated to arrive between 8-10AM. They texted at 8:30AM-ish that they were on their way and they'd see me in 25 mins. They showed up a little after 9. There were no real introductions, and I couldn't tell you any of their names, because they never gave them to me. I show them everything that needs packing, sign the agreement, and they got to work. In the beginning everything seemed great. They were using appropriate sized boxes, keeping like items together, like making sure to pack sets of china and glassware together, and staying on task. At some point, it seems they ran out of the smaller boxes, and started using larger boxes, and this is when things started to turn. They started to fill these boxes with anything and everything, not keeping sets of stuff together and ignoring any idea of weight limits, and the fragility of the items, something I didn't realize until about 20 mins ago when I started lifting these larger boxes to move them into other rooms and organize them by contents. Imagine my surprise when I go to pick up a box marked "china", that easily weighed 75lbs+. One wrong move, and all of china in there, which is 150+ years old, and has been in my family for generations, would be reduced to rubble. This is not the only overpacked box. I now have to spend the evening unpacking these boxes, and repacking the items into smaller boxes that I have, and had in my house the whole time they were here. If they'd simply asked, I would've gladly supplied them, and if I didn't have any, I would've run out to buy some, as the whole point of hiring them was to ensure my fragile and irreplaceable items, were packed properly to make it across the country. 4 hours of work and they're done. The team leader tells me he's going to figure the bill and will be back. Between the labor and supplies it's $880. Perfect. I pull out my cash. Hand him $900 then start trying to decide how much more to give him to give a decent tip. He informs me that it's company policy that they get tipped 25% of the total price. I stopped counting my money and asked him to repeat himself, thinking I misheard him. Nope, he says the same thing and even adds, "that's another $220, but you can always give more". Uhhhh. I ask him to specify again thinking I can't be hearing this right. NOPE. So there I am standing there basically being told, that it's mandatory I give him a 25% tip. It was awkward, it was cringe worthy, and most of all, it was unprofessional. I give him the $220, so an $880 job, cost me $1100 due to some weird demand for a 25% tip. I couldn't shake the feeling of the tip situation. I text the guy I set everything up with to tell him about it, ask if that's their policy, and to tell him I hope the other guys actually get their fair share. He responds that tips are optional and percentage is up to the customer, and that he's sorry for the inconvenience, and he'll talk to the team lead. If my employee pulled something like that, my response would be a lot less "Sorry for the inconvenience", and a lot more "My employee did what!?" To top it all off, 3 boxes of things I wanted packed were never touched, which I didn't realize until an hour or so after they left, presumably because they ran out of supplies, and they left one box they'd packed, 1/3 full and just sitting open, and didn't even tell me, or I'd given them some things to fill it up. Long story short, this company might be great for you if you're moving around San Diego County, but my experience did not leave me feeling warm and fuzzy. I'm not sure what happened here, but I could never recommend this company after my experience. read more

I had an easy but complicated move for my mother and having used Packing Bee's before I didn't hesitate to call them. They were quick and efficient. They packed my mothers apartment moved everything out and moved the downstairs tenants to her upstairs unit. Then they moved her stuff in the down stairs unit. All this was done in 8 hours and three guys!! They packed everything with care and were so helpful when i had to put a couple items in my car. But here's another important reason to hire Packing Bee's: They are honest! They found cash under the bed AND gave it to me!! My recent experience with Packing bees was not so good. I very small move that suppose to be moved in 2 hours they have dragged to almost 4. I am not sure if it's experience or they intentionally were milking the clock , but every time I went to check why it takes so long , someone was just standing in the truck not knowing what to do . One guy did not speak english at all and the other guy had very low level , but possible to communicate. Foreman was always something screaming to another guy ( I am not sure if he wass rushing him up or just telling what to do ), but instead of a 2 men crew I've got 1 person working. On top of that they had dropped my dresser and it's falling apart at the bottom near the leg. Driver immediately denied him dropping the dresser, however I know that it was in perfect shape at my old apartment. read more

I have no words... I don't know how to describe the level of service I received from Packing Bees moving company. This was truly the best experience I have received from any moving company I've ever worked with and probably any service company I've ever worked with. If I could give them more than five stars I would. I have been through some really difficult experiences with movers in the past. I have moved over 20 times in my adult life and I am very experienced with dealing with movers of all types. My last movers traumatized me because they broke my bed, broke $1000 air purifier which looks like it had been dropped from a height and were really unpleasant to with with, didn't seem to care and it made me afraid to hire another mover! When the time came and I had to move again I reluctantly began calling different companies asking a lot of detailed questions and I spoke to one of the owners, Milosh. He made me feel so reassured and confident that my things would be in good hands and I could count on them. Not only could I count on them but they were extremely responsive anytime I reached out with any questions or comments and always responded with a warm and friendly solution or idea for every challenge I threw at them. They have an extraordinary work ethic and commitment level. I swear these guys cared more about my move than I did! Aside from the fact that they were a lot of fun to be around and so incredibly nice, they made my move so much better than it could have or would have been otherwise! I felt taken care of from beginning till end and I could feel how important it was to them to do the best job possible and make sure that my move went really well. These guys had to pack up all of my stuff which they did the day before and then move me from San Diego to Los Angeles and then one problem after another came up creating obstacles but they never got in a bad mood and they never made me feel badly about the issues that came up. I did a lot of research before hiring a moving company. I called 5 companies and eventually decided on Packing Bees. I spoke to Milanko a few times for questions and he was very responsive and friendly. He immediately sent me a quote and their online system is so easy to use and you can adjust the quote based on your requirement. Other than quick response and providing a quote quickly, their hourly rate is very reasonable for the kind of service you get. On the day of the move, they showed up promptly. We hired a 4-men crew and it worked out perfectly. The crew that came was led by Shaken and he is cordial and very professional. The other members of the crew are Dani, Yerbol and Meir. They are all super nice and worked very hard throughout the day. Our move was not very straightforward as we had to make one stop in the middle and the final destination has many flights of stairs. They never complain and worked out an efficient system to get all our stuff in quickly. On top of that, they are very careful with our belongs. Pretty standard move. But they had to deal with some relatively heavy boxes/furniture, a slightly too small 2nd-floor apartment, and San Diego rain. Work was fast, efficient, and everything made it to the new location completely unscathed, with one exception. At the end of the move, we discovered that one of my old recliners (nearly 10 years old and on its 4th move at this point) wasn't reclining properly. Turns out a bolt had come loose inside a sown pocket under the seat. I don't blame Packing Bee in the slightest, the recliner had been through years of abuse and it was just time for something to give. We moved from our 2bd/2ba apartment in San Diego to a 2-floor house in San Marcos this past July and chose Packing Bees as our moving company. Scheduling the move was very easy: I used a combination of phone, text, and email conversations to make sure they had all the info they needed for moving day, and, when we had to reschedule, they were very flexible with no rescheduling fees. The actual move was great, too. They arrived during their pre-determined arrival window, and I couldn't believe how fast they were able to move all of the boxes and furniture out of our living room! In about 15 minutes, it was completely empty. We hired four guys to do the entire move: they had our apartment packed up (including disassembling two queen size bed frames) in about 2 hours. Unloading the truck at our new home and re-assembling the bed frames didn't take long, either.
