Great music, atmosphere, many tables along the street, prompt service. The fish and chips were pretty good. Very generous portion of fish. Corned beef and cabbage dish was delicious. The corned beef had a very mild Smokey/buttery taste. The carrots and cabbage could be cooked more but definitely worth trying. I'd pass on the clam chowder. Overall great experience. read more

Ha! Where do I start, well let's start with the food and decor. Calling this place an Irish Pub is like calling Domino's Pizza an authentic Italian Pizzeria. The place looks and smells like it hasn't been cleaned since they opened in 2007. Menus were sticky and that smell. Smelled like a cross between rotting garbage, stale beer, and sewage....mmmmmm. Oh, the food, well I wish I could tell you, since they " forgot " to tell us that they didn't put in our order because they were out of corned beef and cabbage. Mind you we had been seated for over an hour before they decided to tell us, and only after we walked to the bar to serve ourselves. The band was taking requests and doing covers. They were good, but it was loud (hence wanting to sit outside). You could tell the band was holding it back, the drummer could've definitely made some more noise. My husband and I came in for lunch the other day. Service was quick and friendly! We shared the Guinness burger with onion rings and my husband got the clam chowder soup which he liked. The burger was great, the burger looked like it was hand made, not a pre made patty, and the Guinness BBQ sauce was on point. I was in the area for 2 months, traveling for work. I went here twice, in part because it was open later than other places. I brought friends from out of town and we were all pretty satisfied with our food and drinks. My only complaints are that an Irish Pub should NOT be out of Killian's (haha) and the last time I was there, the music was so unbearably loud we could not speak to each other without screaming. It's a smallish place and I appreciate the effort, but we were there for dinner and it was rough to converse. In addition, we were served our food and my cousin asked for some dressing or something of that sort and the waitress, flustered, stated that they had put everything away for the night and seemed unwilling to get it. So weird. Was it sequestered in Fort Knox? Staff has otherwise always been nice. Old, established atmosphere. Honestly, there aren't many choices in the area, but it's worth becoming a regular. read more

I ordered the Earth Bowl as I am a Vegetarian and it was fabulous. There was live Irish Music which was very similar to Authentic Irish Music (I've been to Ireland). The staff was very friendly and service was quick. I was hoping for bread while waiting for dinner but I don't really need the extra carbs... Overall, the location is great, outdoor seating is nice, the Italian sparking water is a nice addition, and the staff is very accommodating and kind. read more

Visited this restaurant on a trip to bar harbor and Acadia. Being vegetarian is hard traveling sometimes especially to places that have a majority of seafood restaurants like bar harbor. Paddy's has great outdoor and COVID safe seating and had a wonderful menu to warm you up since it is getting chilly outside. The veggie burger was great and the truffle fries that came with it were even better! My friend got the earth bowl which also looked amazing! The food on 12/20/22 was the worst I remember eating at any restaurant. Paddy's used to be good. On the 20th, the food was ice cold. Ice. We asked for the soup to be warm. Well, mine was clearly microwaved in the bread bowl. So, then, the bread at the bottom was like raw dough from the soup. And the top of the bread bowl was tough. The French onion soup in the past was incredibly flavorful. But I know canned soup when I taste it. And that's what I apparently purchased. The service was disorganized. The wait staff didn't seem to know who was doing what. Someone who I think was the manager was walking around and talking to a few people but seemed oblivious to the overall disorganization in the place. Sad. Disappointing. read more

Paddy's has a slightly above average rating but I was still not on board to try it. Persuaded by a friend, I was dragged in against my better judgment. I humbly admit, I was wrong and this place was super yummy. I had the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich with a bowl of clam chowder. Perfect for this rainy afternoon. It was awesome. Seriously, the best piece of haddock I have ever had in Maine for fish and chips. Prompt services, nice bar area, positive vibe for a pub. Large portions and fun appetizers. Nice list of daily drink specials. Music might have been a bit too loud for conversation but the jazz group was excellent on a Thursday night. We didn't expect the entertaining performance when we were just there to eat and talk. We left as a satisfied set of six diners. read more

I met a friend there for lunch and we decided to eat inside. Old timey pub place in the heart of the city. We sat ourselves and were greeted right away. Orders taken and then the first of many waits began. When we got there the place was nearly empty and we were hopeful that our food would not take too long. Wrong. My friend ordered fish and chips and I ordered the kale/goat cheese salad. And off we go on out first wait. We finally got the attention of our server-who was deep in her socializing with other staff-and out came the food-which was quite good. All that we had hoped for. Again a wait for my friends drink refill-more tartar sauce-the check-the receipt. It's an Irish pub, the easy go to anywhere in the whole wide world. I was wandering through an unfamiliar town on a Saturday afternoon layover when I came across the comfort of an Irish pub. I only had a couple beers, something local and the name escapes me. I had already eaten lunch and was saving myself for lobster dinner or I'd have eaten something. Everything looked good and the staff was very welcoming. I can't say for sure the 5 stars are accurate for the whole experience, but my experience was delightful. A God-send for parents who went to the Maine Discovery Museum. We went on a rainy day at noon mid-week... place was a little busy, but we got seated early. Wood everything, checkers or chess games at some of the tables. GREAT FOOD AND BEER. Everything was great, I never had fried pickles, even my picky-eater son ate all of his chicken fingers and fries... I had the steak salad, some craft beers... was very happy to find this place. Went with family during the President's day weekend. All the tables were full on a Sunday evening and the five of us waited at the bar for about five minutes. Beautiful bar clean and tidy with very friendly staff. Dinner was very good. Beef tippington was a huge hit with everyone. Also the fondue appetizer is fantastic. We stopped here for lunch the other day and had a wonderful meal. I had the Guinness Burger and it was wonderful. Cooked just the way I asked, the bacon was perfect, and the Guinness BBQ Sauce was a great addition. My husband had Paddy's Club and he loved it. Ordered a butternut squash salad, to go. Have been ordering this salad for years, but had to stop because of the inconsistency of preparation. The salad today suffered from the same problems as before. Chicken was overcooked, tough, little flavor. Squash was undercooked. Great Irish style pub. They serve a cider on tap called Woodchuck that isn't sweet. I had a pulled pork sandwich which was pretty good considering it is Bangor and not Atlanta or Texas.
