I tried the chopped antipasto salad. $6.99 and I could not finish it all in one sitting. It is clearly made fresh in the morning. Dressing was served on the side & was very flavorful. I happened to be in the neighborhood at lunchtime, and the reviews looked good, so I stopped in. Padua is a fresh pasta shop/Italian deli combination. The pastas all looked great; I can't wait to get back to buy some. They even offer fresh lasagna sheets if you pre-order them. The meatball parm sub (my standard Italian deli order) was excellent. The meatballs were homemade, large, tender and tasty; the tomato ragu was a perfect accompaniment. My only complaint was that it was served panini style, which means that it was too messy to eat by hand. I prefer them unpressed, but, hey, that's just me. The arancini was great, but a little expensive. I got a meat filled one, and it was $6.50; granted it was large, but that's too much for a rice ball. All in all, I'd recommend this for Italian sammies, and I can't wait to try the pastas and report back. read more

We love Padua! So lucky to have them in the city we live in and close to our home. We ordered meatball, salami, the roast beef and the Padua. We've had them all before and will continue. So much meat is put in their sandwiches and the bread is crispy French, yummy & delicious. I was reading some of the previous reviews about the service not being so friendly- well that has never happened to us in all the visits we have gone to. Came here for the first time and was not impressed at all! Bought at 16in Roast Beef sandwich and the bread was SO hard I broke a bracket on my braces smh! And a 16 in Meatball sandwich it was alright needed more sauce! I was pretty undecided on what to get because what they had on the menu were all good choices for lunch. I ended up getting their Saturday special of lasagna with garlic bread and ordered a side of potato salad. Both were really good and really hit the spot for a quick lunch. So let me just start out by saying they are pricey. BUT...for the quality of food you're getting, it's worth every penny. The Padua special is a family favorite. I personally don't eat meat and I'm trying to cut back on the cheeses and they made me a delicious veggie sandwich(avocado, lettuce, tomato, arugula, pickles, onions and dressing. The lady at the counter said they usually put pepperoncinis, mustard and Mayo as well.) My youngest had a ham and cheese sandwich and has been talking about it for days. My other son tried their pepperoni pizza for the first time and he said it was amazing. We also tried their tomato basil pizza and it was so good. We've had their red skin American potato salad, the pasta pesto w/ roasted pine nuts, the pasta w/ sun dried tomatoes, and the pasta picnic chicken and we've loved them all. Their cookies are always good and I saw that they make some gorgeous cakes as well. This place is really cute, and I love that they offer such a variety of both prepared and fresh foods. You definitely want to come here for your Italian pantry options, but they also offer amazing fresh made pasta, desserts, and deli items. If you're not in the mood to cook, they have pre-made, frozen pasta dishes that you just need to pop in the microwave or oven. I picked up some potato salad, a pot pie, arancini, rigatoni with meat sauce, an eggplant stack, fresh bucatini, some pasta sauce, chicken piccata, and a couple of dessert items that I can't remember the names of. All tasty but I really loved the desserts and the potato salad of all things. I look forward to trying more of their food. A couple of the ladies didn't seem too happy to be there, but everyone else was lovely. Also, the potato salad was scooped into the container with a gloved hand which was unusual for me. First time/last time at Padua pasta makers. I've seen this place many times and decided to give it a try, unfortunately none of the workers cared to take care of any of the people waiting to make or pick up orders. I waited around 20 mins and didn't even have a chance to place my order, on top of that it was going to be an additional 15 minutes to make my sandwich which would have been fine if I hadn't had to wait so long to order in the first place. Looks like a store with quality food and products but suffers from poor customer service. read more

The items I've had at Pers have been generally pretty good. However, I really can't stand a local business that price gouges. I'm happy to support a local business, but I ordered a sandwich today and just said I want a little bit of Italian salad dressing on the sandwich and the person on the phone told me that would be a dollar charge for a splash of Italian dressing, that's just unreasonable and price gouging. I visited this location on NYE and I will say the pasta was delicious, but unfortunately the customer service was horrible. Once I walked into the establishment I was rushed into the section of the store where the pasta was placed after informing the young woman greeter this was my first time visiting. It was not until 10 minutes had passed where then I was able to receive service from a representative who was not friendly at all. Hot and New in Upland?!?! I was so excited to check out Padua Pasta Makers!! Located right across from the Upland Post Office, they have their own tiny private lot but there is public parking right across the street (in the other direction) or a lot of street parking available nearby as well. I was immediately greeted by their cashier Hanna who made me feel very welcomed. She is young and energetic and had she been the only person helping me out, this place might have had a better rating... ROAST BEEF, BAKED HAM or TURKEY ($6.50/6inch) I actually ordered it as a roast beef, baked ham AND turkey but no one corrected me or asked me which one so during my long long long wait I began to wonder which one it would come out in... and the answer is TURKEY! All their sandwiches here are made on an Italian Roll and this particular hot sandwich came with the 'turkey,' garlic herb butter, mozzarella cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. I must say this sandwich was delicious. The bread was a bit overly toasted but I could still taste its' freshness. I ate half initially for lunch, but the funny thing is I actually liked the leftover half more when I microwaved it for dinner. That's quite unusual... AMERICAN REDSKIN POTATO SALAD ($4.79/lb) This was a recommended item so I decided to get a small container to try it out. Potatoes are my weakness so I expected to love it... These red skin potatoes were sliced thinly into medallions. It was 'okay' at best. Nothing special compared to the ones filled with preservatives you can get in the deli of a grocery store. FUSILLI PESTO SALAD ($7.99/lb) This is my favorite side out of all the ones I purchased. It was very light and fresh. I enjoy the addition of the seed... I want to say sunflower seed but I'm not entirely sure. Anyways it was delicious and I love it, BUT it didn't really capture the pesto flavors in every bite. So basically I enjoyed it but it wasn't what I wanted. TORTELLINI WITH MEAT SALAD ($10.99/lb) The price would make sense if I tasted any meat. These tortellinis taste more like dough. It was really creamy and I enjoyed the first few bites but less and less after the third bite. ANTIPASTA SALAD ($9.99/lb) I liked this the least... my parents didn't like it either. We threw it away... LINGUINE WITH SUN-DRIED TOMATOES ($7.99/lb) The linguine was much on the oily side and I did not get the essence of the sun dried tomatoes. I felt like it was too heavy and unfortunately not tasty at all. SMALL CANNOLI ($1.25/each) I ordered their small cannoli which is super tiny just so I could taste it. It was definitely not the best cannoli I've tried and not even close to being the second best. It was pretty good though. The shell has a churro-like flavor to it and it was generously stuffed. I can't say I'm a fan. ITALIAN COOKIES ($17.99/lb) The lady who was helping was telling me the cookies were by pound so I can have an assorted mix and it won't affect the price. When I asked her for recommendations she said they were ALL good. I felt like she was beyond unhelpful and at times even annoyed with me. Given that they are a new business and it was my first time here, you would think that they'd be nicer. She didn't tell me the price per pound until AFTER I bought a bunch of random cookies. At 17.99 per pound I expect some tastebuds seducing cookies but there cookies weren't even good. I took a bite out of everything just to try it and I kind of liked the raspberry square with the lemon glaze diagonals on top... but still not enough to pay $17.99/lb. And the rest were really bland and unworthy of mentioning. So basically Hanna was able to run back and forth between getting my five pasta salads and ringing up a few customers AND I was able to order my cannoli and Italian cookies and my sandwich was no where close to being done. Tick tock, tick tock.. I ordered enough food to feed my whole family thinking that we would all enjoy it and come back for more. My parents were definitely not impressed. Good thing I peeled off the price tags before my mom saw how much everything cost. She would probably faint and then yell at me... and then tell me that Stater Brothers or Vons has the same stuff for cheaper. Sigh... read more
