I love this deli/bakery! First impressions: it reminds me of some of the more classy deli places in Napa. A cute, Tuscany inspired, white on white interior with marble floors, marble countertops, and just a few marble tabletops in case you wanted to eat there. Great smells (but isn't that expected with great Italian food?). And wonderful, friendly workers. It is located in a very dated building that is typical of old Upland. It gives PPM that well established look, like it was there for generations even though it has only been open about 6 months. The deli food is beautiful and homemade. You will also find a limited selection of imported canned goods, crackers, wines, etc.. I guess their claim to fame is their fresh pasta. And we did buy some fresh cappellini (angel hair pasta), not yet tried. And let's not forget about the precooked squares of Lasagna that can be warmed up at home. They provided sauce on the side if you preferred. The deli has a respectable but not huge selection of entrees, sandwiches, salads. They have several different varieties of frozen ravioli in their small freezer, a short rib filling and a cheese filling. Pricey but certainly less $$ than eating at a restaurant. You can buy one of their house sauces and cleverly put a "homemade" meal on your table without making a disastrous kitchen mess. We loaded up on all the flavors they carried of San Pellegrino sparkling sodas: Orange, Blood Orange, Lemon, Pomegranate, Grapefruit, Clementine, and Chinotto (a dark juice made of the fruit of the myrtle-leaved orange tree). I must confess, this brand was just recently introduced to us both. We found it quite special, thus the hoarding. The cashier was giving out samples of their freshly baked Italian bread. No problem accepting that. Soft and wonderful. And let me tell you about the salted chocolate chip cookie. A big, plump, soft one, and most definitely featuring plenty of chocolate. Sorry, no picture. Unless you want me to take a picture of the crumbs around my lips. So good, so full of chocolate, Mr. B was whining that he was still looking for the cookie part. Such a problem. They also carry some interesting flavors of Italian ices. I would definitely be tempted. Even their bathrooms are out of the ordinary. Beautiful white and grey marble subway tiles line the walls. Classy and pristine. I am quite impressed. And after reading Andria M's glowing review of Arancini with sugo, I know I will have to return just to see what that is all about. read more

They are directly across from the Post Office on the southeast corner of Arrow Hwy and 3rd Ave. Note that they do have a couple tables outside by their parking lot. That was convenient so we could eat outside with our dogs. The interior is split in different sections (pasta & deli) and it was also like a market/boutique. They had a couple tables to sit at inside as well. I liked the decor inside and there are even chandeliers. They also sell fresh bread, but you should call ahead to ensure they have the type you want. From the deli, I ordered two turkey sandwiches on wheat bread ($6.50 for 6", $8.50 for 10"), chips $1.50 each, and two Clementine Pellegrino $1.50 each. The total came out to $21.34. Overall, I enjoyed my sandwich. My husband actually had to take half of his home and he finished it when we got home. SERVICE: Came on an early Saturday afternoon to an empty store and Covid precautions taken by all staff, which was appreciated. First young lady who greeted us at the door was friendly. However, the two young ladies behind the deli counter were absolutely charm-FREE lol. Both were curt and clearly inconvenienced by my questions about the menu, despite no other customers being in the store. Gave them the benefit of the doubt because doing customer service sucks, which is really no excuse, but then again they weren't the single "meh" factor of this place. FOOD: We ordered the caprese sandwich and prosciutto sandwich. Now this place came highly recommended by a friend, and ended up being super disappointing. While the ingredients tasted fresh, both the prosciutto and sauces in each sandwich were absolutely bland. Now I know nothing about Italian cuisine, but I know bland is not part of the general flavor profile. Redeeming thing is that the store itself has a lot of authentic non-perishables including but not limited to pastas, sauces, and pastries. I went here because it look like an authentic place to get pasta, first the ladies in this place the worst attitude and walk around with stank faces the entire time. I couldn't believe they would want such workers helping people who keep their business running. Then I get my fettuccine Alfredo pasta and they serve me what's the first picture. Noodles and meat, absolutely no sauce. It's as dry as can be. How does this even get past the kitchen?!? Then I go ask if I can have a side of sauce to add so I can enjoy my pasta and annoyingly they say they don't have none?!? What? So whatever then they say you can buy extra sauce in the fridge, so I do so because I'm not going to eat dry pasta what the f**k. I pay $16 for extra sauce which is more then the actual meal itself. Then I have to ask them to heat it up. The second picture is after adding some more sauce. THAT IS HOW IT SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE KITCHEN! This place has the cutest atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Very clean when you walk in and inviting. When I went there I came for lunch and ordered the meat ball sandwich. The style of ordered is deli shop style. You order and can take the food to go or eat it there. I decided to eat it there. The food came out fairly fast, it was warm and you can tell it was made home made. While looking around the shop, you can see ready to go home made pasta that you can take and boil at home, that was a cool thing to know. The price was also a good price for a lunch sandwich. Last minute decision to swing into Padua Pasta Makers with the kiddos over the weekend, because I needed to drop mail off at the post office. Convenient that it's right across the street in downtown Upland. Walked in, immediately grabbed some homemade egg noodles for our homemade pasta dinner. DISAPOINTED!! We had ordered in the past for birthdays, Which was very good..Our last order was with great Disappointment. First off, The garlic bread was flat as pancake as if it were pressed by a heavy object. The lasagna was VERY heavy hit our stomach like lead, many guest did not finish what was in their plates. I used to live under a mile away from the shop, and worked at San Antonio hospital. Although they use bread from a nearby bread factory (from an inside source), I loved the shop. I just called right now to order pick up and they have informed me that they ran out of bread. She simply said "if ur ordering sandwiches, we don't have bread) I inquired whether or not they have other substitution (they do have all types of bread for sale after all). She said nope.... Soooo let's try again later on.. I think I'm a little upset for the fact that she did not even offer me any other type of food that they can offer. Have been eating here weekly (sometimes multiple times) and I have yet to be disappointed. "Padua Special" is the best Italian meat sandwich you can get. It's only $10, HUGE and loaded on fresh baked bread. Also one of the best meatball subs (includes roasted red peppers) and the hot roast beef is a great alternate choice. If you're thinking of going to a chain sandwich place do yourself a favor and try this spot out... it will probably end up cheaper, better quality and you'll support a local mom & pop. We love Padua pasta makers! They opened when I had moved from upland to chino hills but we visit this shop almost monthly when I come back to upland. Their desserts are fantastic. Especially the ones that are trifle's in the fridge. We love their cookies and are also happy they sell black and white cookies. Their tuna sandwich and meatball sandwiches are my favorite as well as their chicken Caesar salad. They use quality ingredients and are usually quick to make your food during the lunch rush. The employees are always very kind, and the store is always very clean on the inside - just wish there was more seating available inside. Can't wait to return! read more

If I could give zero stars I would My supervisor was kind enough to purchase our office team sandwiches my colleague went to pick it up and the sandwich I ordered read pastrami with Swiss cheese pickles and mustard when I got my sandwich I'm not sure what meat it was as pastrami is hot and it had lettuce tomato and mayo my colleagues was kind enough to take it back to ask for it to be corrected I believe it was the owner who came from behind the counter she said and yelled at her in her face stating she was not going to remake the sandwich we ordered it wrong and she would have to purchase another my colleague was ok with doing just that and asked for the incorrect sandwich back since we already paid the owner tells her she threw it away and now she's be getting a free sandwich I asked my colleague to leave because I don't believe in upset people making my food this lady had my colleague whom is so sweet and kind hearted crying and so upset this girl did not deserve nor does anyone deserve to be yelled at and mistreated like this lady did and to throw the food away before settling what the conclusion was to fix the issue this place will never be recommended by me ever the attitude I heard through the phone I would never support customer service is so critical in business and clearly This lady lacks it !!!! read more

I love this place. My favorite place to go for lunch. It's a short drive down the street from work, in a beautiful little part of town (imo). I love a good sandwich and this place knows how to make a great sandwich. The portions are beyond generous, the ingredients fresh and the bread they use is amazing. I've tried almost all the sandwiches, my recommendation is the mortadella or ham. But you really can't go wrong with anything. Also the pasta salads are good and the lemon bars and coffee are a great after lunch dessert if you have room. Helps keep me awake back at the office. Give this place a try. read more
