I remember I told my son that the sandwich was the most authentic to a sandwich that I had in Italy. The arancini was the best I've ever had as well. It was warmed perfectly. It's pretty difficult to find fresh pasta if you're in the DB/Chino Hills area. Whenever I wanted fresh pasta I've had to venture closer into LA or Hollywood. I discovered this place a while ago but never got around to actually visiting since I have no real business being in Upland, but one fateful day when I wanted to be super Italian and cook fresh pasta at home, I decided it was time to pay this place a visit. Parking was relatively easy, as there's a lot right across the street, but I imagine parking would be bad if it gets busy, since the lot's pretty small. The shop itself is relatively small, with some tables for those who wish to buy a sandwich and eat in. There are two rooms: the first one you walk into has a meat/deli section along with a cheese display and fridges with imported Italian sodas and alcoholic beverages. The next room over is the pasta section, with a selection of fresh pastas that are priced by the pound, as well as a very large and diverse assortment of sauces, oils, seasonings, and dry ingredients. I went with a pound of penne, a pound of linguine, a bottle of sauce, as well as some parmigiano. Once you try fresh pasta, you'll never want to get the boxed stuff again! Because it's fresh, the pasta doesn't need to be boiled for as long, so keep that in mind when you cook it. Also keep in mind that they don't last all that long in the fridge, so best to cook the pasta within a few days of getting it. Their items really aren't all that expensive either considering what you get and the quality of the ingredients. I'll definitely be coming back here more frequently for pasta and any ingredients I may need. The sandwiches they offer look good; I'll try those out as well the next time I come. I WILL NEVER GIVE MY BUSINESS TO PADUA EVER AGAIN! I live in a historic home walking distance from Padua and have been a customer since I moved here in 2019. The food is convenient because of walking distance but not above average in any way. Either way, I like to support small businesses and love being part of the downtown Upland area. I went in today with my husband and two young children. I placed an order for 3 sandwiches and some deli stuff. I ordered a sandwich that I have ordered since March 2019 that has added goat cheese. When I gave the woman (THE OWNER) my order she paused and loudly and rudely said, "goat cheese!?" as she huffed. I said yes, I always order this sandwich and she asked if it was a lot added. I said no just a layer to which she paused, smirked and shook her head. I asked if there was a problem and she said I have to charge you extra, I said ok and she said she would ask her girls how they charge me. I walked away feeling judged and upset about the exchange, even my 12 year old commented on the rudeness. While we were browsing and waiting for our order my husband noticed THE OWNER staring and pointing at me with 2 of her employees. My husband walked over and politely and quietly asked if there was a problem. The owner yelled back that yes there was a problem and none of her girls ever made my sandwich that way and she has to weigh the goat cheese. I heard this from across the store and walked up to the counter, put my ticket down and said I would like to cancel my order since it was such a problem. A young girl (who has made my problem sandwich several times before) asked if I was sure to which I responded, yes and that I could not believe how rude that woman is to customers! I have spent $$$$ on food, cards, or decor here since 2019. It is absolutely despicable the way my family were treated today. There is no response this business will surely try to give to excuse being yelled at for an order request. If it was an issue THE OWNER should have declined to make the substitute in a civilized way. When we first moved to Upland, the people we purchased our house from recommended we check out Padua Pasta. They had said this was one of the best sandwiches they've ever had and man, they weren't lying. The "Padua Special" is the best sandwich I have ever eaten, full stop. Not only is the food good but the location is very convenient and has an authentic feel to it. This is a place that if we ever move from Upland I will crave, think about, and drive to. Do yourself a favor - stop looking and reviews and eat here. Get the Padua special. If you don't want a sandwich, get one of their countless pastas, which are also made in-shop, fresh. Very good. It is always a luxury to treat yourself with pasta and there is a lot of variety here. I admit that the pasta did not impress me, but the brave meatballs are top. WOW!!!!! As we were looking for a place to have lunch at with a friend of mine - who works in Upland - he suggested Padua and we decided to go there. I have to tell you, when I walked in the door, it was like I walked through a star gate into another dimension. I didn't expect to see what I saw. Long story short, the place is BEAUTIFUL!!!, the food is FANTASTIC!!!, and the service is GREAT!! Today I had the best turkey sandwich of my life! I know, it's turnkey but it was that great. AMAZING!!!! We tried the arancini, manicotti, and a sausage just to taste. LOVED IT! So, we came back and had the "Frenchie", Pastrami (hot), Meatball sandwich, Antipasto, and a side of Pesto Pasta w/Pine Nuts (chilled). EVERYTHING was fresh and was superb!!! I would totally recommend the "Frenchie" if you like goat cheese n fig spread. They have the right combination! Totally recommend this place. The sandwiches are fantastic, but I was disappointed with what happened there today. I walked to meet my husband for lunch since we live by Downtown Upland, I was working from home today, and he was in the area for work so we met for lunch. My name was taken down wrong (honest mistake) but no one figured out it was our lunch until my husband checked on them and had to grab his and leave. I ended up asking for a manager to discuss what happened to avoid that mistake in the future and the response still has me a bit shocked to be honest. A simple, sorry we will try to do better and thank you for letting me know would have sufficed. I dont want to go into detail here, but would love to get in contact with the owner to discuss. Keep in mind, I was very kind. The manager refunded us, but that wasn't what I was looking for and I told her that. Went to pick up some fresh pasta to cook at home and was pleasantly superseded by the variety of hot prepared food and ingredients to cook at home that they had! I picked up some fettuccine egg noodles for dinner and they cooked very well! We also decided to try some premade desserts.....their tiramisu was delicious, not too sweet! I will be back! Some of the other reviews are right about the service though I did need to ask for help from 2 people before someone finally came over to get my order. read more

I have been coming here for a few years now (since day one actually) and sadly to say the food has gone down in quality. I got the roast beef, and wasn't at allll what was described on the site. No garlic spread at all, it wasn't toasted and I was given Swiss cheese and not mozzarella cheese. First time here. It's a nice place and the customer services was overall good. But I am not sure if I want to go again since the food I ordered was disappointed. The chicken Marsala Pot Pie was quite plain in favor and the chicken was overcooked. The precooked pasta of the fettuccine Alfredo was way too soft and lost the chewy texture compared to the ones we ate in the Italian-American restaurants. I also ordered the truffle brownie since I saw people recommended it, but it's way too sweet to the point that we could not taste the chocolate favor. The sandwiches here are amazing! Its so nice to have a place that isn't a chain and tastes manufactured. The bread is so fresh, I sometimes consider getting a side roll just to eat on its own, cause lets be honest...who doesn't love fresh bread?! I mostly get the hot roast beef and i haven't been disappointed not once! I have tried the pasta, and the freshness is incomparable! I don't live super close so whenever the kids have a doctor appointment in Upland I always make sure to schedule it around lunchtime so I can stop and get a sandwich (and maybe a dessert too!)! Padua is an adorable, Instagrammable Italian eatery in little ole Upland. I love coming here during my lunches because I begin to daydream of quitting my full-time job and becoming a full-time blogger and Instagramming the hell out of this place. I don't blog and I somewhat do the gram. So daydreams they stay. Sandwiches are delicious and the bread is amazing. None of that chewy, hard to bite into type of bread. I'd say lunch box is the way to go at about $10 a box with a cold sandwich, candy, side salad and a pickle. The sandwich was big enough that I only ate half for lunch and saved the other half for lunch the next day. Very filling. I choice the pesto fusili as my side salad and it was the perfect portion for me. Just enough to have a taste and not be full. I've also tried their cannoli and it was pretty good. They only have the regular size and mini size. No other flavor options. They put the chocolate chips mixed with their fillings, which isn't really my thing, but it wasn't terrible. I was worried it'd be soggy since they're pre-filled but the shell still had a good crunch to it. There's plenty more you can buy here: freshly made pasta, salads, pasta salads, wine, snacks, drinks, chips, bread. Deli Market. BF would love Padua for this. I was really excited about trying this place as it was highly recommended by another individual. I walked in not knowing what to expect and what to order. I saw all the different varieties and choices and wasn't sure what to buy so when it was my turn to order, the person that took my order(supposedly the owner, woman with long black hair) was super rude! I told her there were so much to choose and I'm not sure what I wanted. She slammed her pen down and walked away saying out loud that it seemed like today no one knows what they want to eat. I wasn't sure what I wanted to order but I also didn't want to wait for her to do other things and wait for her to come back to take my order. I stood there in shock while waiting for her to return to take my order. I ended up ordering from another person that happen to look my way and I yelled out "can you take my order". I'll be honest, the sandwich was great. The pasta salad (rotini with salami and provolone I believe) was dry. Wish it had a little more of whatever they put on it. My main disappointment was with the size of the sides of balsamic cream and hot pepper jelly. I paid $1.50 for each, and they were no more than 1 teaspoon of each. For the large sandwich, I wish they would be a little more generous, especially because you are paying $3.00 for 2 sides alone. First time at Padua Pasta Makers and most likely my last. I have gone inside the store on multiple occasions however yesterday's visit was my first time purchasing groceries. Food is yummy, but it isn't cheap. I bough a 1/2 pound of spaghetti, marinara sauce and a slice of almond cake, total came out to $21. The reason why I won't be coming back is due to how RUDE the woman that helped me behind the counter was. I walk in the store there are no customers inside except me. I walk to the counter to order my fresh pasta and I'm not even acknowledged for a solid 3 mins. Mind you there are 4 employees behind the counter. Then then woman walks up and says, " What can I get you?" In an off putting tone. Where's the "hi" or "how are you?" I was already put off but decided to ask some questions about that fresh pasta. As I'm pointing to particular pastas, the woman tells me "What are you pointing at!" How is this ok customer service? Furthermore, there was a delicious looking cake on the counter and I asked what type of cake it was. There was no sign. I received a very smug..... "Almond cake!." Almost like I should have known! I am an avid home cook and love purchasing high quality ingredients to be used in the kitchen. And I am a HUGE supporter of small businesses. However, after yesterday's experience I won't be back. Just because there are PITA customers doesn't mean everyone is. I will continue to drive from Rancho to Claro's Italian market because they are much kinder and warmer! I'm a local and frequently visit Padua and don't get me wrong the food is good (pricy but still good), but the customer service from a few of girls behind the counter who work in the mid morning are just flat out rude.(this is based off multiple encounters with these women) I've been when it was packed and also when it was completely empty. I reluctantly visited this restaurant today with my sister, my sister swears by this place but after seeing the reviews I always declined every time my sister asked me to go with her. Today I decided to give it a try. When I walked in it was very clean and nice, the cashiers were not very pleasant though, we walked in they just looked at us, didn't greet us or anything, so I was like "oh gosh here we go"! But as I was looking around a lady came up to me and my sister and said hello she was very nice, welcoming, and pleasant! Because this was my first time here I wasn't sure what to order, there was a young lady behind the counter where you order the sandwiches , she had a long ponytail (wish I would of got her name) she was very nice and patient, she explained the sandwiches to me and even let me sample 2 of the pastas and a meat. I ended up getting the Padua, it was pretty good next time I would have them hold the Italian dressing because it made the bread soggy, and I would ask for them to heat up the bread next time, the bread was hard. My sister explained to me that's how that bread comes. All in all, it was a pleasant experience, food was good, ambiance was nice, my only suggestion I would train the cashiers on customer service, they are the first people you see when you walk in and they should speak and greet the customers, they didn't even smile. But the kindness from the other employees and especially the girl behind the counter really made up for the poor attitudes of the cashiers. I'm excited to go back and try other items off the menu!
