When I walked into this deli i got the biggest smile on my face. It's precious. I never expected a deli to be so elegant. And it smelled heavenly. I slowly walked all around taking it all in. I love the sandwiches here. The bread is perfect and they put a lot of filling in them. The deli meats are good quality and they cut them very thin, which I love. They manage to perfectly balance all of the flavors to made a delicious sub! It is a little pricey, but worth it for the quality and portion size. I also like the fresh pasta. Whenever I get subs here for lunch, I'll also pick up a pound of pasta to make for dinner. The rigatoni is my favorite, but all the ones that I have tried have been tasty. Beware of the groceries in the market though. I usually browse what they have when waiting for my order. I have noticed several expired items. read more

This place has some of the best food, but my last couple visits have been disappointing due to the service. Today I went to buy their homemade pasta and some cheese. Getting someone to wait on me was painful. I went to the pasta counter first. No one came over. So I went to the sandwich counter. The girl behind the counter didn't acknowledge me. I went and stood by the cheese case. Same thing, although I could see 3 employees standing together in back chatting. I finally went to the cashier. She was very nice and she filled my order. I was going to say something to her, but I didn't feel it was appropriate. She went out of her way to wait on me and I could tell she was embarrassed by the service. Returned a second time due to their great sandwiches. Unfortunately I will not be returning because of the poor service. Staff members did not even acknowledge my husband and I for 5 minutes as we were waiting to order. There were 5 workers in the kitchen and 1 worker just standing next to the cashier. Neither the cashier or kitchen workers said hello or we will be right with you. Absolutely no welcome from anyone. I had to ask the cashier after 5 minutes of waiting if someone would take our order or even notice us and she gave us attitude and decided to take our order and then go back to the cashier station when there was still other customers waiting to order. My dads office is down the street on 2nd ave and this has become one of our favorite places to grab lunch or fresh pasta and bread for dinner. They offer a variety of sandwiches made to order with fresh sliced meats, cheeses, and bread as well as specials of the day that are prepared with their homemade pasta. My personal favorites are penne in pink sauce, spaghetti with a meatball, and the meatball sandwich. You can buy bread, different shapes of fresh pasta by the pound or pre-order lasagna sheets. They have refrigerators with all kinds of drinks including wine and beer, pre-packaged containers of some of their different sauces, frozen raviolis and gnocchi, gelato, and different cakes by the slice and cookies. They do get pretty busy sometimes, so if you're in a rush and planning to order hot food I would recommend calling in your order ahead of time and they'll have it ready when you get there. read more

This is the kind of specialty market I wish we had more of in this area. I've really enjoyed the breads, pastas, and cookies I've gotten here over the last few years. Figuring out where to order what can be a little confusing at first, particularly when they are crowded. I think this just means I end up buying more than I intended because I keep seeing stuff at the different counters I want to add. I am always happy with what I end up bringing home. I checked this place out for lunch. I got a tuna sandwich and it was delicious. I had some of the bread samples and they were amazing. I ordered the 6" sandwich and I was stuffed. They don't skimp on the tuna. I was in a rush so I didn't get any pasta. And since it's a pasta place I didn't think I could honestly give it 5 if I didn't try any. The difficult part about dining at Padula is deciding what to eat! Thankfully they offer the convenience of purchasing their food items to go. The imported prosciutto was an absolutely amazing find and the freshness of the bread is evident in each bite. I've had it with this business, and it's a shame. Their food is not the problem, it's good and reasonably priced, it's the management of it that's the problem. Seems like every time I've gone there they are out of what I want, if I want a sandwich they're out of bread (imagine that... out of bread ???), if I want roast beef, they're out of it. This is no way to encourage repeat business. I've stopped even considering them because of the frequency in which this happens. I would encourage the owner or the manager to more carefully review their inventory so that they stop running out of items that should be staples (like bread!!!!). I'm reluctant to continue patronizing a business that thinks so little of it's clientele that it doesn't bother to keep itself adequately supplied....This is NOT a COVID 19 related situation, I've experienced this problem for years. Remember Claro's is not that far away, and they NEVER run out of staple items. It's further away from me but I never leave without the food I'm craving....Come on Padua you can do better than this!! read more
