Really great experience at Page Road Grill last night! Our server -- Claudia? -- was wonderful. She was attentive without being overbearing. She immediately brought us waters and took our drink orders. I'm not a big gin fan but I decided to try The Local. My husband had the jalapeno margarita. Both were fantastic. Mine was strong -- definitely a sipper. The margaritas had that delightful amount of heat that hit you in the throat instead of the tongue. I decided to go with the salad special for my entree and add salmon. It was delightful -- a unique salad with a southern mix of bacon, black eyed peas and field greens. It was not the best salmon I've ever had but it was well seasoned and not overcooked. Husband enjoyed his burger. Our food came out fast. Overall a great experience.

My review is based only on the food because I got Carry out! The ability to place an order over the phone was easy. I had crab cakes, which were great! I ordered their special dessert which was some sort of sweet potato panna cotta which was just okay. It looked cute in there when I went to grab my food, I'll def check it out!

The service was great, the waiter was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the catfish, while it was very saucy, everything lacked flavor. Also, almost a third of my potatoes were undercooked.

Great food for a decent price! We enjoyed the crab dip, the roasted chicken entree, and the risotto with shrimp. The crab dip had a crumb topping which was different but it was delicious, served with warm pita bread. The risotto was very flavorful and filling. The side options aren't listed but the server would read them out to you. The staff was friendly and helpful. She kept referring to us as "friends" which was pleasant. Full bar but not many mocktail options as they don't have a lot of syrups and garnishes. We ordered Shirley temples and with sprite and ginger ale but the cocktails and wine selection were decent. Very spacious and cozy interior. Plenty of parking lot space.

Gosh this was a stellar dining experience suitable for a special occasion or a date night or evening out with friends. Our service (Lynea) was helpful, explaining which meals suited our demands and what the terms were that we didn't understand. We started with a spinach bacon salad which had a great dressing and was the perfect way to begin our meal. I highly recommend the Shrimp Risotto; it was unbelievably creamy and flavorful with just a hint of heat. My husband ordered The Pork Shank. It doesn't look like much but wham, the taste is stunning!! Sweet (brown sugar?) and spicy and delicious. Complete with risotto and cooked spinach. It was followed by a small chocolate cake and ice cream. The perfect end to a perfect evening.

Good menu options and great service! We had my friend's surprise birthday dinner here and one of their private spaces. My friend's husband made the arrangements, but I arrived early to help decorate the space. The staff and manager were extremely helpful and friendly. They helped me bring in the decor and get everything set up. The location is nice and has a great vibe for an intimate dinner or a group dinner. The parking lot has plenty of parking in their private lot. The menu options are great! I ordered the Grain Salad with a Crab Cake and it was DELICIOUS!!! I wouldn't not have even imagined that putting all of the different flavors together would end up complimenting each other so well. I am allergic to pecans and there wasn't a single one on there once I asked for them to be withheld from the dish. Everyone in the group truly enjoyed their meal. I tasted some of the Brussels Sprouts that my other friend ordered and it was good. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area.

I was visiting my mother and she and mention some of her friends and her had enjoyed a lunch at Page Road Grill in the past, so I figured we would give it a try, especially since it was so hard to find a open dinner reservation on the Saturday night before Easter. As I walked in, I was surprised how empty the restaurant appeared. It seemed like they had one person both hosting and waiting tables, although we eventually realized there was a second server. But it was very clean and the atmosphere felt warm and relaxing thanks to art on the wall. I think my favorite part of this restaurant was the music; they had a great variety of country, mellow rock, and Americana folk music. The beer variety was pretty solid with some local brews, and I was allowed to have a sample of a local pale ale. But when a draft was brought to me, there was no head on it at all, which really hinders the flavor of the beer. If you work in that kind of a restaurant, I'm sorry, but you have to know how to pour a draft beer properly. Their menu is quite limited, they only have three appetizers and five salads to go with three deserts and a variety of entrees. Typically I don't mind that because it means they can focus on refining a few dishes and doing them well. For my meal, I had a bone in pork chop with a peach topping, roasted potatoes and creamed corn. It was a fine pork chop dish, cooked juicy and decently seasoned. I felt the potatoes needed a little something extra, such as fresh herbs. Mom had the shrimp and grits with bacon, vegetables and a mushroom cream sauce and she seemed to enjoy it. For a beer, two glasses of wine, and two entrees, our total came close to $95. No bread, no included salad or soup. I had an ok experience, but there are too many other restaurants worth trying in the area before I return here.

Sitting just S of 540 on Page Rd why this place isn't packed all the time dunno. Stopped in Monday night with a friend from out of town. Had the Pork Chop. Deleted the rice, added Asparagus. Photo here Buddy had the Brisket that was so tender they didn't even bother giving him a steak knife. Said it was amazing. Probably only thing holding back the Fifth Star would be the bartender (we sat at the bar) was scattered and has a nasty habit of taking orders while walking--looks back over his shoulder asking questions as he walks. Stand and look at me while I am ordering my $30 Pork Chop please. Right? All good

Can you find the Crispy Country Ham as opposed to bacon. (see menu).
    Gail C.

Three of us went here for lunch. We all got salads. The one I wanted was the Romaine (see photos). I was salivating as I pictured crisp romaine lettuce with cripsy country ham slices and chicken. Imagine my surprise when I found out I was getting bacon cumbs as opposed to the bacon listed on other menu items. The other not so fantastic part of the experience was our service. It wasn't great. BUT THE GOOD NEWS:The salads were delicious! The prices fair, and the drinks were excellent. All three of us will return. Perhaps I will smuggle in some real country ham to go with my salad.

We made a reservation and were seated upon arrival. Our host was Anthony, I think his name was, with a keen interest for ginkgo trees. He was very attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. He took her order and had some good suggestions. I was craving shrimp and grits which was probably the most unique shrimp and grits. I've had ever. Very distinct flavor and still very rich and familiar. The shrimp were large and juicy as well as remained crunchy overall cooked very well. We also had the summer tomato and burata salad which was really refreshing and delicious. My friend ordered the mac and cheese which is a hefty serving size. Definitely a shareable side or a main for one person. Our host came to check on us frequently, our Waters never went empty. Other hosts were also helping check in on us which was nice. The restaurant itself is large. Booth tables available, which made for a cozy environment. We ended the night with some brownie a la mode, which was the perfect dessert to have on a hot summer day. The menu had recently changed so we got to try quite a few new items. This dish was my favorite of the night- small but shareable, entire dish was refreshing and all the flavors and textures went together so well. For dinner I ordered the roasted chicken and the baked mac and cheese with bacon. The roasted chicken was juicy and tasty, and a bit sweet with the bourbon ginger and plum reduction, but the mac and cheese seemed dry and overcooked. We also ordered the buttermilk cheddar biscuits- that taste slightly undercooked (in a good way), so the texture was soft and chewy (and amazing). The honey butter and large maldon salt granules made the biscuits perfect. They were so good we ordered a second order!! I would definitely return to Plum, for both the food and hospitality.

This new East Durham location is a little smaller than the old one, but they kept the brick aesthetic and the same jazz décor; it has great vibes, but it can get a little noisy with large groups. They now have a small parking lot. The new building has charm, although the surrounding area feels industrial and somewhat run-down. One of the restaurant's windows was boarded up, broken glass had spread into the parking-lot entrance, and barbed wire was visible from our table. The chicken is always tangy and moist. I don't know what they put in the breading, but I'm like a moth to a flame to that stuff. The mac and cheese is some of the best in the Triangle. Our server, Lanyah, was a hustler! While there, she had 9 tables, and one of them was a large group of about 10 people. My wife and I each ordered A Classy Hen with a Baby Blueberry and a Peach Apricot Shmear. I liked the Peach Apricot better. My wife got fresh fruit as her side, which was mostly just orange slices. This, unfortunately, is the end of any positives. Because it was just Lanyah, the service was slow, and it appears from our various times coming to Dame's that slow service is the rule, not the exception. Our server said that it was typical to have just a single server, one cook, and a busser--who was not that helpful. Lanyah was still busing some tables and when there was a loud crash that sounded like dishes falling, she ran and checked on it herself. It took her a minute to get us water and then take our order, but it was understandable. She hugged my wife when we were leaving when we told her she deserved better. The cook was doing their best, but it took 48-minutes and 49 seconds to get our order after it was put in...yes, I timed it. One family walked out due to the long wait. There was another male staff member-I'm not sure whether he was the manager, but he spent most of the evening sitting in the bar area. He was not seating people, bringing out orders or drinks, or helping out our overwhelmed server. They were supposed to close at 7:30pm, but we walked out the door at 8:05pm and the large party was still there waiting for their food, with the other man still sitting in the bar. We want to love Dame's, but slow service just overshadows everything else that is positive. Until they hire an appropriate number of staff, we will not be back.

This review is offered as constructive feedback to the staff, management, and ownership of a restaurant we want to see succeed. Today we stopped in during Sunday brunch and placed a takeout order for one pound of brisket and jambalaya. The wait was approximately an hour. I understand that brunch is busy, and the restaurant appeared to be working with two servers, a bartender, a busser, and several people in the kitchen. The front-of-house staff seemed to be doing what they could. The issue appears to be kitchen execution and order flow. Operationally, an order consisting primarily of slicing a pound of already-prepared brisket and portioning jambalaya should not remain in the same production queue for an hour. This is less a staffing criticism than a process problem. Management may want to look at ticket prioritization, a dedicated expediter during peak periods, separation of simple takeout orders from full dine-in tickets, and clearer ownership of orders from receipt through handoff. When the food is already prepared, throughput should be measured in minutes, not an hour. That matters because a restaurant can have excellent food and hardworking people and still lose customers through a bottleneck in the process. The objective shouldn't be to make everyone work harder; it should be to design the kitchen flow so the same people can work smarter and move appropriate orders through faster. Parking has also become increasingly difficult and is worth considering as the restaurant continues to draw a crowd. None of this changes what we enjoy about Succotash. We love the food, the music, the authenticity and the character of the place. We'll be back. But an hour for this particular takeout order points to an operational problem worth fixing. Great food deserves equally great execution.

The brisket might have been some of the best I've ever had. It had a nice fat layer and was also "melt in your mouth" and juicy. The brisket didn't need any sauce at all. It was that good. The hushpuppies were the star at the table. My family considers themselves to be connoisseurs of hush puppies, and these were ranked in the top five.
