Before heading to the Santa Claus House in the North Pole, my family and I decided to have lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. The female server was chatty, but made my party of 5 feel welcome. As I sat at the table, I enjoyed looking at the decorations inside the restaurant. At first, I was drawn to their lunch specials that are offered on Tuesdays to Saturdays, then realized that I wanted to sample a variety of dishes instead of one entree. So, we agreed to share the Benny's Special and the Ribeye Steak. First, I tried the Walnut Shrimp which had a sauce that was not as sweet but very tasty. Secondly, the Mongolian Beef was tender with a good sauce on the mild side. Thirdly, the Asparagus Chicken had a delicious sauce that reminded me of coconut curry and the asparagus was well- cooked. Fourthly, the Lemon Chicken had a pleasant zesty flavor. The Ribeye steak had a nice crispy crust while the beef was juicy. Initially, I was concerned that the pork fried rice would be overpowering, however, it paired well with the entrees. My parents loved the Wonton and Hot and Sour soups as well. Since I am from California and only visiting Alaska for the holiday season, I am glad that I was able to try out this spot before they closed a few days before Christmas. We traveled to Fairbanks and spent a day in North Pole. After asking some locals for recommendations, we were pointed to this restaurant and we're glad we came! SERVICE: 5/5 Excellent service! My grandma forgot her reading glasses, but the servers, who spoke both Chinese and English, were incredibly accommodating and communicated with her perfectly. FOOD: 4/5 We were recommended the steak with the surf and turf, which is one of their most popular dishes. It was packed with flavor (slightly on the salty side) but it paired wonderfully with the white rice. We saw this restaurant on the show Triple D! Wanted to support a fellow Cantonese person and meet Benny. We were very lucky he was in that day. Such a nice guy, so kind and hospitable. From a Hoisan girl, or deah thlai Benny! Dor jeah, in Cantonese I think. He visited us multiple times to see how we were enjoying the food and took pictures with us at the end of our meal. Went on Saturday and the place was packed! They sat us immediately which was nice. The ambiance is beautiful with Chinese decorations everywhere. The food is amazing with large portions. Lol but it's so quaint They serve you hot tea and water when you sit down and the tea is just blissful. We ordered the hot sour soup and wonton soup with the lunch special and not gonna lie unfortunately the hot sour was wayyyyy to sweet for my taste. And I honestly never saw wonton soup served with zucchini and tomato so it was just a little odd. However, the meals were just delish. My favorite restaurant in North Pole m hands down. My father dined here a lot so when I'm in town we always stop in dinner. The menu is vast and every single dish I've had has been amazing. We went here after visiting Santa Claus House and dog mushing. When we walked in, the place was hopping with activity. There were servers, seaters and busboys rushing around and a ton of orders ready for pickup. The hostess at the front lets us go ahead and pick our table, which did. We were immediate greeted and given water and hot tea and menus. It did take a few extra minutes for someone to come take our order, but once the order was place it arrived to our table super fast. We had the Pagoda Mac & cheese which was beyond flavorful, it's not your standard "baked" style but instead had some amazing Asian and other secrets spices which made it amazing. We also had the kung pao squid which tasted wonderful with lots of large chunks of squid ad to the vegetables and sauce. This also came with a large bowl of warm white rice which was great to soak up both sauces. Once they got started on us the service was amazing and someone was constantly checking on us and offering refills of beverages and rice. Definitely would recommend read more

I was really excited to try this place during my visit to Alaska after seeing the restaurant featured on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. We ordered: two small soups (wonton and egg drop), Mongolian beef, beef and broccoli and general Tso chicken. Everything was really tasty but the standout dish was the Mongolian beef. Not only was it seasoned perfectly but the texture was perfect as well. Not tough or chewy! We were seated pretty quickly and overall the servers were nice but there was a blonde server in her 20s- early 30 that was unnecessarily rude and nasty when we asked for tea and to go containers... Overall, I would recommend this establishment and I hope that rude server was just having an off day. read more

After hearing great reviews from several people, I was so excited to try Pagoda, and I'm happy to say it lived up to the hype! My husband isn't the biggest fan of Chinese food, but he was kind enough to join me on the adventure. The staff was extremely attentive, knowledgeable, and super friendly, making us feel right at home. We were also treated to complimentary hot tea, which was a nice touch. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of options, and I really appreciated their lunch special--an entree, soup, egg roll and rice for just $19.99. My husband opted for the Kung Pao Chicken, and he loved it! He said the flavor was perfect, and he especially enjoyed the soup that came with his meal. As for me, I did enjoy the soup--I'll give it a solid 10/10--but I wasn't as thrilled with my entree of Beef Lo Mein. The only reason I dropped a star was because no less than five times did we get approached by multiple staff asking if they could box our food up.....while we were still eating. Nice restaurant with some of the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. I was in a group of 5. We split the Bang Bang shrimp and two of their lunch specials (Mongolian beef and Orange chicken). All of it was flavorful and delicious! The portions were huge so there was plenty for each of us. I wish there was a Pagoda in So Cal. It is incredibly difficult to find authentic Chinese restaurants that are actually flavorful and not greasy. If I am ever visiting AK again, I will be sure to drop in. read more

The location has plenty of easy parking and the staff were so welcoming. Got fried shrimp app, wonton soup, and dinner combo of Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, egg roll and fried rice. The fried shrimp was nice and crispy, the wonton soup and egg roll was just ok, the dinner combo definitely a good deal as it was a ton of food for the price. the entrees of Mongolian beef was delicious and the sweet and sour pork again not too bad. I literally have been hearing about this restaurant for the last 2.5 years in North Carolina from my fiance- it's the BEST food in the entire world, and we had to go when we were in town. We arrived with a pretty good sized group- 6 adults and 2 kids, and we were immediately seated which was awesome. We ordered the walnut shrimp appetizer and some egg rolls which were all delicious. Then our entrees arrived- they were all HUGE! Two adults split the ribeye which was surprisingly well-cooked and seasoned (for an Asian-focused restaurant). The fried rice dish was split between the two kids, with lots left over. Several of us had the combo platters which were massive and so tasty! Note that they have gift cards at Costco now(11-2022) so we saved some money by buying the gift card first before we came. I love that they served both water and hot tea right when we got there so we can rehydrate ourselves in this cold weather. We came for lunch and the place was half fulled. Considering this is in Alaska is decent chinese food but Panda Express taste better so don't expect too much. We like the House Special soup with sizzling rice. We walked in on a Saturday night, and were seated almost immediately (even though the place was packed). I had the lemon drop martini and my husband had the Piggy Back Maple Old Fashioned & it did NOT disappoint. The drinks were strong and fairly priced. The food was also delicious! We shared chicken fried rice and Mongolian beef (A MUST). We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering and it was hot and fresh! What you'll get: Large quantities of Americanized Chinese food with plenty 'o sugar and sauces and fried things at a reasonable price point HEE-HAW! It's an aesthetic that appeals to some and not to others, but clearly they got a strong local crowd coming here every day for this. Good for them! What you're not getting: Authentic Chinese food, delicate flavors, clean cuisine. For what it's worth, my wife and I got the "two person combo set" that came with like 4-5 dishes for $40 total, stuffed ourselves here, and still had 6 extra meal servings as leftovers. This was the first restaurant that came up in our search when looking for nearby places to eat. It was also the first one people recommended when we asked on our first day in Alaska, and they proudly told us it was featured in "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" show. So, of course we had to try it! That was our first meal out while in town and we were not disappointed. Because of Covid the main dining room was closed, but the bar and high-top tables were available for dine-in. Got two spots at the bar, near the entrance to the room, with hand sanitizer right on front to make us feel safe/ clean. The menu has a lot of different dishes, specials, combos... took us a while to decide but finally agreed on sharing and appetizer and a meal, since portions coming out of the kitchen looked really big. Started with the eggrolls - two per order and they cut each in half, allowing them to breathe a bit and not be burning hot when we ate them. Really good rolls! Then came our meal - the Combo #1: Mongolian Beef, with Pork Fried rice, and it includes an egg roll, and a soup too. The beef, the menu says, it's spicy but it really wasn't. It just has a nice kick to it and I loved it. The portion of this and the rice was, as mentioned, very generous. Even two of us sharing it, we were not able to finish it, and we tried... delicious! To accompany our dinner we had two of their specialty drinks, the ocean drink, that we got based on watching our bartender make it and the colors looked fun, and the North Pole Paradise because of the name. Well it was on a TV show I was told so it must be good! we were new in town and I asked a couplie people while walking around at a store where to eat and it was unanimous, pagoda. I wasn't in the mood for Chinese and hadn't had sit-down Chinese in years but yeah, Chinese at the North Pole. we walked in to a festive room with a positive vibe. We were able to get 2 seats at the bar not near anyone so things started out perfect. A charming bartender suggested some things and e got a couple beverages. It was a good staff as they were all friendly and saying hi and full of smiles. A couple different people brought our food over, it was a team effort which was a good feeling too. The food was awesome. The egg Rolls were possibly the best I have had and we got a spicy dish that wasn't that spicy (which was a good thing).
