This was the first restaurant that came up in our search when looking for nearby places to eat. It was also the first one people recommended when we asked on our first day in Alaska, and they proudly told us it was featured in "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" show. So, of course we had to try it! That was our first meal out while in town and we were not disappointed. Because of Covid the main dining room was closed, but the bar and high-top tables were available for dine-in. Got two spots at the bar, near the entrance to the room, with hand sanitizer right on front to make us feel safe/ clean. The menu has a lot of different dishes, specials, combos... took us a while to decide but finally agreed on sharing and appetizer and a meal, since portions coming out of the kitchen looked really big. Started with the eggrolls - two per order and they cut each in half, allowing them to breathe a bit and not be burning hot when we ate them. Really good rolls! Then came our meal - the Combo #1: Mongolian Beef, with Pork Fried rice, and it includes an egg roll, and a soup too. The beef, the menu says, it's spicy but it really wasn't. It just has a nice kick to it and I loved it. The portion of this and the rice was, as mentioned, very generous. Even two of us sharing it, we were not able to finish it, and we tried... delicious! To accompany our dinner we had two of their specialty drinks, the ocean drink, that we got based on watching our bartender make it and the colors looked fun, and the North Pole Paradise because of the name. Well it was on a TV show I was told so it must be good! we were new in town and I asked a couplie people while walking around at a store where to eat and it was unanimous, pagoda. I wasn't in the mood for Chinese and hadn't had sit-down Chinese in years but yeah, Chinese at the North Pole. we walked in to a festive room with a positive vibe. We were able to get 2 seats at the bar not near anyone so things started out perfect. A charming bartender suggested some things and e got a couple beverages. It was a good staff as they were all friendly and saying hi and full of smiles. A couple different people brought our food over, it was a team effort which was a good feeling too. The food was awesome. The egg Rolls were possibly the best I have had and we got a spicy dish that wasn't that spicy (which was a good thing). We've heard great things about this place and it's been a while since I've had decent Chinese food. Also, Chinese food while at the North Pole...heck's yeah! The restaurant is decorated nicely. It reminded me of some restaurants that you will find in California or Vegas. There's also a cute tiki style bar in the back that adds a nice touch. Service was good. Everyone was very friendly and they sat us right away in a perfect spot and served us hot tea in a traditional kettle teapot on a cute little candle burner to keep it hot! Amazing! The staff was very prompt and attentive. We loved it. Food: I ordered the Mongolian beef lunch special and it was perfect! Everyone in our party loved their food and they are quite picky eaters. There was the chicken lo mien lunch special ordered, the almond chicken lunch special, and the pepper beef lunch special. No complaints and they give a lot of food! It was the best ever!! Went here on the recommendation from a family member who once lived in North Pole. This was a great dining experience. They were super busy with diners and takeout orders. The portions are huge and the staff is super friendly and every efficient. Our appetizer of Pot Stickers were by far my favorite thing we ordered. The hubby had Sesame Chicken and I had a Combination D which was Wonton Soup, Pork Egg Roll, Pork Fried Rice, Egg Foo Young, and Sweet & Sour Pork. There was so much food! It was nice they took our plates and packed our leftovers to go for us. The complementary water and hot tea were nice. I have mixed feelings about the reviews, don't get me wrong, the food was good, but not over the top amazing, like so many reviews state. Everything was cooked to order and came out hot. The waitstaff was a well-oiled machine, which makes for a nice meal when you have kids who can go from happy to impatient with a snap of the finger. I almost feel like the hype led to higher than normal expectations, and the real kicker was the overall cost. We saw this was on Triple D so decided to check it out. Due to covid - only seating in the bar. We had a little wait- but nothing terrible. We had lemon chicken and Mongolian beef. The servings are HUGE- like we should have split it. But wow - delicious- it was the best Mongolian beef I've ever had. Great drink menu selection- lots of food selection. It all looked delicious. Service was EXCELLENT. So fast and friendly. The only thing for us was that it was loud- maybe because everyone was in the bar area which is smaller and it was a Saturday night. Ok. This isn't the best Chinese in Alaska, it's the best Chinese food I've had IN MY LIFE. It's been YEARS since I've gone to such a beautifully traditional place with great ambiance, decor, and service. To top it off every single bite was fantastic. The crab Rangoons were light and crispy with lots of crab. The Mongolian beef was delicious, the mushroom chicken was to die for, and the shrimp fried rice was exquisite. We ate eggrolls and soup, and finished with the complimentary jasmine tea that I'm still thinking about weeks later. It was suggested to us we stop on the way back from Chena Hotsprings- and we ALMOST made the mistake of heading back to Fairbanks without it... This place is super busy! Getting seated relatively quick but service afterwards was a little slow. They advertise that Guy Fieri has been here but he ordered a steak here? 4.5 stars. This place was recommended by the gentleman in the Fairbanks visitors center. He said, " it's the best food in Fairbanks". And he was absolutely right! It is a gorgeous restaurant. Very intricate decor, dim lighting, has a chinese new year feel to it. Menu is decently varied. Unfortunately their lunch specials are only Mon- Sat so we didn't get the discount. We got dinner special combo 1 (mongolian beef, pork fried rice, egg roll and soup of the day - hot and sour) and the seafood combo with garlic sauce. Because we wanted spicy, they also provided a thai chilli sauce since the server didn't think the chilli sauce on the table would be spicy enough (and she was right!). Food was very very good! The mongolian beef with fried rice was mouthwatering. So so delicious!! The egg roll was good but not the best. The seafood combo was tasty and made better with the thai chilli sauce. And that hot and sour soup was also out of the world. I'm picky about chinese food so to find this place in North Pole Alaska, is fascinating and fantastic!! We were looking for somewhere that was open on July 4, and Pagoda was open and fully staffed. This was above average Chinese food and the portions were huge (we ordered the Peking Special for Two and got enough food for 3-4 adults). We got the hour and sour soup which was a tad bit on the sour end for my taste. The potstickers were definitely very good! Do get. The egg rolls were so so. Food poisoning!!! My husband got food poisoning from their Hunan beef 3 hours after consuming. He threw up twice and started having fever. And then he felt nauseous for another 2 full days, having chills and muscle aches which are all symptoms of severe food poisoning. But this restaurant's reaction is even worse!!! Their manager told my husband that they do not take any responsibility for the food, and there's no way food poisoning happens within 24 hours. Well.... Maybe you should go google what are the symptoms of food poisoning because it can literally happen 30 mins after consumption. They didn't even apologize!!!! Talk about a hidden gem. We didn't think a Chinese restaurant in Fairbanks would be very satisfying. But, one of our tour guides recommended this place, and we went for it. The place itself is a bit cozy, dark, and outdated. The service was passing, and the rest is history. We went in for lunch and took advantage of their lunch specials which included a soup, egg role, and fried rice. We ordered the mongolian beef, orange chicken, chowmein, and kung pao chicken. My beef with this place...finest in the area for sure, however, every time I called there for pick-up they'll put you on hold for few minutes, & the noise at the background is so loud, I can't figure it out if they're talking to me or the paying customer normally I barely leave a tip on pick-up, but I'm very generous giving them gratuity when we sit down and eat there. (After all, I give tip for services) I know he's the manager (the white gentleman) was talking trash about a customer, for leaving a tip from phone order, first of, Mr Manager before talking crap about your regular customer, make sure your customer is already gone, so they won't hear you and bash you in Yelp. Secondly, it's very unprofessional. You seem so unhappy in your job. Mr Benny is awesome. But you Mr Manager, not so much. read more

Absolutely loved the food! Went with a group of 4 and we all ordered something different along with pork and walnut shrimp appetizers. The prices were high but I think it was 100% worth it!! I personally got the chicken mushroom entree and while it was loaded with chicken and mushrooms, I found it to be a little too salty. So after a few bites I would have to cut the salt with the sweetness from a piece of the honey walnut shrimp appetizer. They give out very hefty portions! So it really helps make it worth the price as well. I went to about 4 other restaurants in Fairbanks while I was there for a trip and although it wasn't terrible food, I also didn't think it was great. But not Pagoda. Pagoda had very good food. We ended the night with Sake bombs. The staff was awesome and friendly. They were attentive and made good conversation. Even the staff that wasn't specifically waiting on us. The bartenders were awesome!! Those ladies were a ton of fun and even gave us a free round on them when they forgot to hit record while we were taking our Sake bombs lol. We started with the crab Rangoon, the pastry was light enough to literally melt in your mouth while enjoying a great seafood delight. Also started with the potstickers with the dough just the right consistency of the meat served inside very delightful. Sorry, no pics, eaten too fast. The entrée consisted of pork egg, foo young, Mongolian, beef, cashew chicken. All amazing flavorful experiences. The pork egg, foo young was prepared similar to a quiche with a dinner portion of pork served on top, the gravy added that just right flavor and delicacy you would expect in the pork egg foo yong. The Mongolian beef had a nice sharp crisp edge to a tender center and Just was fantastic. the cashew chicken, the chicken was so tender, chewing was not required. The service was fantastic. The bartender definitely made drinks to enhance the experience, this is a must visit if you haven't already. Prices are moderate, but well worth the experience and will satisfy the appetite. The ambience was what you would expect of a fine Asian experience. If you are ever looking for a place to try in Alaska, North Pole Alaska, give this a try, definitely worth the experience. read more
