The only thing that would detract from this location is finding the door. If you're entering the building from the side closest to the front door, it's much easier. Coming from the back parking lot and being unfamiliar with Saint George or that shopping center, it took us a couple minutes to find the Painted Pony on the second floor. However, once we found it and requested a table, everything else was amazing. Beautiful views, looking out the window of the quaint little courtyard, service was very friendly and accommodating, and food was tasty! Mildly upscale steakhouse in st george. You might want to make reservations to make sure you have a seat. Kind of hard to find, tucked on the second floor in the back corner of one of the buildings. Beet salad was pretty standard, the brie was pretty good. I had the bone in pork chop which was great and the lamb shank my date had was pretty good too. This is a must try for a nice lunch or dinner. On vacation we went out twice here. Both times food was spot on. Abe was an amazing waiter the food was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed the bison special which is a must try. The kids meals were amazing and perfectly cooked. The salads are perfect without too much dressing. The bread they make fresh daily is OMGeeee amazing. Also have to give a shout out to the bar tender who makes the most amazing blackberry jalapeño margarita. I dine here any time I can when passing through Saint George--too bad that's only about once a year! The ambiance is very inviting and the views from most tables are attractive and soothing. I'm not a drinker but enjoy a few mocktails. They had a very refreshing "Pom Cooler" made of pomegranate juice, lime juice, mint, and soda water. For vegetarians, they had at least one veggie entree and an off-menu item which was a mushroom risotto and a mix of veggies in hollowed-out red bell pepper, which my mother enjoyed. I had the house salad with salmon which was better than many restaurants' specialty salads. However, the most compelling part of the dining experience was our server, Jeremiah. There was nothing I could put my finger on but he knew how to serve like very few servers do. I eat out about 10 times a week and Jeremiah is among the top 5 wait staff I have encountered to date. My favorite restaurant in St. George. I really enjoy the view of the lively courtyard down below. Drinks are always perfectly made. The food is excellent. My husband had a wine-braised beef dish that he said must have been cooked for three or four days. I had the scallops--excellent! We split a perfect spring salad with little peas and asparagus. When they heard we had a scheduling conflict, the staff was wonderful about the timing of our meal. Sorry we had to run away before dessert. read more

We've been coming here for our anniversary for years. It would be more than once a year but we live in the Salt Lake Valley. This place is relaxed, quiet, excellent service Every. Single. Time. We have our favorites. The French Onion Soup. The steaks, pork chop, and duck are amazing. So are the sides, particularly the Stilton Fritters, the Sweet Corn Pudding, and the blue cheese walnut stuffed pear. The specials are always well-thought our and worthwhile - tonight it was a Spanish-style Wahoo with grilled plants in a sauce of tomato, green olives, and capers. Perfectly cooked fish and steak (tonight the hubs chose the tenderloin). Dessert is a must. We love the Key Lime Pie. The brûlée is always a winner. Someday we'll move to St. G. Let's start on the high points...the service was outstanding and the ambiance is excellent as well...I really enjoyed the experience...however the French onion soup had zero flavor...3 of us l ordered it and we all agreed...No flavor:(. My steak was so tender you could cut it with a fork...but again, no seasoning...the sauce that was on the plate was fantastic and so that made up for it. The best part for me and my group was the cocktails...there was a wide variety and they tasted great! I will go back again in the future... We travel to Bryce once a year or so. We stopped here once each trip the last 3 years. Want to love it, but issues each time. Service is great. But the first two times we ate there, there was problems with the steak. The first time I ordered medium rare. It was extremely rare. So the second visit, I got medium. Again came out extremely rare, had to have it cooked more. Both times, by time my steak got back to me, my wife and son were finished with their meals. This most recent visit, my steak was actually cooked medium, but my wife's pork chop was almost raw....... Not sure what is going on with who ever cooks their meats. Place is nice on the inside. Not sure if we will continue coming here for a meal on our way to Bryce. Last time on the way back home to Vegas we stopped at the Cliffside and absolutely loved it. read more

I have been here probably ten times in the past three years. The service is ALWAYS good and I have never had to send back my food. Everything I've ever ordered I have liked. Of I had to look for a critique I would say a lot of their food is on the sweeter side and I do not like sweet entrees so sometimes I have to adjust the order or find something very specific. Thats preference thing. I feel like the consistency they have been able to maintain on all aspects of dining is exceptional and this comes from a former restaurant manager in fine dining. It's cozy and adorable, I love all the beautiful details, lots of interesting art to enjoy, fresh flowers, gorgeous outdoor patio with little birds flying around you, and delicious Southwestern seasonal food. Everything I've tried I've enjoyed immensely. The bacon wrapped almond dates with Stilton blue cheese and a port drizzle are an absolute must order. I also fondly remember a caprese salad that came with tiny white balsamic jello pieces. So damn creative and fun! And let's take a moment to reminisce about their seasonal lavender creme brûlée. My wife and I went here on a date, as we had seen this place advertised on Yelp for several years. We used the Open Table app for a quick reservation for an early dinner. The staff was top notch, we were seated instantly and greeted by several employees as we sat down. We did the Brie appetizer and to me it was average. The garlic didn't have a ton of taste, and the compote could have been a little sweeter. I ordered the ribeye (cooked medium) and my wife ordered the pork chop. My steak was brought to the table and the outer edge piece I cut was dark purple (not even warm). It was a rare/medium rare. For a $36 steak, my expectations are for it to be cooked perfectly. The waitress took the steak back and they put it on a flame thrower for a few more minutes. At this point, the steak was charred. Didn't love it. The pork chop has great flavor, but we didn't care for most of the toppings and sides. The food was good. But after leaving with a $100 Bill (without drinks), we left feeling "meh". I've eaten here a few times and the service is always excellent. I love the sides too. Can't go wrong with any of the salads or the Brussels sprouts. I wish they'd source a better quality ribeye because I've gotten it twice and both times it was super fatty. Not marbled fat, but hunks of fat you have to cut around. We have always loved Painted Pony, but today is a very different story! the food seemed as though the sandwich rolls were possibly ready to be tossed out, they were so thick and chewy I couldn't eat my chicken sandwich. Not only was the bread dry and rubbery, but the chicken tasted as though it was over cooked in the microwave... it had no flavor and was dry and rubbery. My friends hamburger was very much the same ... should have been cooked to medium rare, bit it was way over cooked! On another note our waitress was extraordinary! she was very much into making sure everyone had enough water filling all the drinks, checking on everyone - she was wonderful.
