Stopped here based on Yelp reviews and found exactly what was advertised - a really good place for lunch. A great (hot) sandwich and a bowl of delicious homemade soup. The dining room is small and the place is typically packed. Its worth the wait for a table though. Whether it is the New Mexican dishes or something more traditionally American for breakfast or lunch, the Palacio Café is the go to place for a reliably good meal, at a decent price. Service is fast. Had our first Santa Fe meal here and loved it! The owners are super friendly. The atmosphere quaint. However, the best part was the food!! The special beef burrito with Christmas (red and green chilies) was delicious. I tried everyone's food in our party and each and every had great flavor. Anytime I am in town I try to have at least one meal at Palacio Cafe. Their Huevos Rancheros are always satisfying, flavorful, and the eggs were perfectly cooked. If you order it Christmas-style you can sample both red and green chile. This latest visit we dined outside on the patio located at the rear of the cafe. It is a really pleasant space with umbrella-covered tables and a water feature. Their former sidewalk tables were nice, but being off the street and hearing birds sing added to the experience. We generally eat outside so our small canine companion can join us. The waitstaff are always pleasant and attentive. I am already looking forward to my next meal there. They now offer a small selection of beer for those who might want that option with their meal. read more

I love this little restaurant. It is cute and friendly with welcoming staff, and the food is wonderful. The huevos rancheros were filling and well-seasoned, as were the breakfast tacos. The salsas were on point as well. This is just such a cozy little place with three different seating areas including a patio. They offer a variety of New Mexican and mor traditional entrees - all which looked very delicious! I ordered a pancake and the huevos rancheros. They both were amazingly delicious separately and were even better eaten side by side! The hashbrowns were cooked especially well...perfect crisp!! It certainly doesn't look like much from the street (in fact, if you're not looking for it, you'll walk right past it!) but this little hole in the wall packs a major punch in the flavor department. We went to the Palacio Cafe on a Saturday at lunch time with my wife and 2 boys (7&8). The place felt cozy (and a bit drafty) but not overcrowded. We were greeted warmly and dug into the menu. It did not appear that there were obvious items made specifically for kids, so our boys ordered the French Toast and Waffles. Both were gobbled down promptly. I barely had a chance to see the fresh strawberries and blueberry before they were inhaled. My wife had the Huevos Rancheros and declared it to be "the best breakfast in New Mexico" - I had the Smothered Burrito and was not disappointed. A few things to note - if you're looking for a fine dining atmosphere or a roomy, private experience, this is not the place for you. Also, our boys are not the most well-behaved at the table but the staff were gracious and friendly. I probably would not have brought them when they were much younger. This was a highlight of our trip to Santa Fe and we hope to be back soon! read more

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience at this restaurant and I would not recommend it to families with young children. For context, we were a group of 4 adults and 4 children, the youngest being 21 months. It was New Year's Day and our server made it very clear that we were not welcome. She told us that "children in Europe never act this way". It was one rude comment after the next. The server started clearing our plates before we had finished. I actually thought our children were well behaved. It's hard to control a child under 2. The food was good, however I have never been treated so terribly by a server. It was a very upsetting experience and an awful way to start the new year. If you have young children, I would avoid this restaurant as you are not welcome. read more

Great little Cafe with fantastic service. All the menu choices were intriguing but I settled on the vegetable enchiladas with both the green and the red chillies. It did not disappoint. We walked across the street from our hotel to this little gem. We both had the enchiladas. I had chicken and my husband had beef. The plates were so steaming hot and the food was so tasty. Even before going in the restaurant, I could tell by the smells that it was going to be good. My friends and I luckily got there before the lunch rush and just in time for brunch. This is our new favorite place to go eat when in Santa Fe. The food was amazing, and so was the service.

Came in for a family breakfast, we crowded ourselves into a small space and certainly weren't the best customers, but they served us very well anyways- so 5* for service!!
