We've always considered Palladino's one of our splurge spots -- somewhere we'd go when we wanted to treat ourselves. Prices have gone up everywhere since COVID, so that part doesn't bother us. What matters is getting the same quality and portions we used to enjoy. Lately though, things just haven't been the same. I'm not big on their pizza (Rosati's is more my style), but I've always liked their appetizers, burger/dogs and sandwiches. Even those have felt a little off the last few visits. This time I ordered lunch for takeout, and when I got home, the fries were barely half a bag. For what we're paying these days, that was disappointing. Takeout should match dine‑in portions, especially when customers are choosing you over other local spots! I hope they take a look at recent reviews and tighten things up. We were looking for a bite to eat on our way home for Canyon Lake and this showed up on Yelp. It's a cute local place and we had the nicest waitress. We had a pepperoni and sweet pepper pizza. The place is very casual like most pizza places. Waitress was very nice and attentive. In all my years living in Chicago I never had a breaded steak sandwich. Next week I'm going to Chicago and was going to use one of my lunch spots to try Ricobenes for the very first time. Then my sister suggested I try Paladinos because it was just as good. While I can't compare the two never having been to Rico's I can tell you that the sandwich here was really good. Really good. The steak was tender and the breading crunchy. The sauce and cheese were very good as well. Add both hot and sweet peppers to elevate the sandwich to the next level. If it wasn't a 20 mile drive I'd probably eat here at least once a week. I used to really like this place. Local vibe, family run, quality products. Was busy all the time, didn't mind waiting for fresh made food. Yesterday, placed order online, was ready when we arrived. First, prices on most items are outrageous. Pastrami sandwich, add order of fries, $21.!!! Large, thin crust, pizza with peppers, sausage and a few mushrooms, $30!!! Pizza was hard, dry & chewy. The good... spaghetti dinner, with 2 decent size and tasty meatballs with a small salad and 2 slices of bread for the$12.50. If I had asked for meat sauce, add $6. I don't know what's going on, but won't be returning from Queen Creek to pay Las Vegas Prices in Apache Junction. read more

Great sausage flavor, crispy pepperoni. We didn't like how you can't add toppings to their signature pizza. We wanted roasted red peppers but they don't do that. You need to order topping individually...what? Zucchini sticks weren't that good as the inside was nuclear hot and slimy textured. I'm sure these were frozen not fresh made. Either way, very good. Tried this place for the very first time on recommendation from my friend Christian. I ordered lasagna with sausage after having a major craving for it. It did not disappoint and neither did the service! My waitress was very good and super nice! She even hooked me up ahead of time with a take home container, as the portion was big enough for 2-3 meals. It came with a side salad that was delicious and just the perfect amount. Very tasty! The ambiance was nice and calm...just perfect for meal time. I took my time and enjoyed my meal and the visit in general. I will definitely be back to try other things here. read more

I was with a group, separate checks. I ordered the burger special and was asked how I wanted it cooked, I asked for medium. My burger and fries arrived last of our group of five. I'm not talking a minute or so...it was more than 15 minutes before the waitress returned AFTER delivering everyone else's order only to say the cook missed my burger order. I wish I had taken a photo of what was delivered--the first burger was rare nearly all the way though. I showed the burger to the waitress--had to bring my plate to her since she never came back to the table and asked to have another made...so the burger was sent back and the next burger that arrived (another 15+minutes--we were timing it) was charred and hard as a hockey puck. I showed both burgers to my group--two of whom were former restaurant owner/servers. They were surprised at how poorly my food was managed---"missed order" "how it was cooked" "time to arrive" and no apology from the waitress. I brought the second burger back to the waitress to show her the charred error---again, she never checked back to our table so I had to chase her down. My group said they had better not charge me for anything since I hadn't eaten--which thankfully the waitress did not bring me a bill. Service-wise, the waitress did not refill our water (or drinks--soda or alcohol--until we flagged her down and asked). Waitress did not check on us during the meal--the restaurant was less than one-third full and there was at least one other waitress working. To put it mildly, this was not a good experience. I had a lot of time to look around at what other patrons were having--the pasta looked good and the Chicago dogs and the sliced beef sandwiches looked (and I was told) tasted pretty good but the service was poor enough that our group decided a trip to Portillo's would be better and less costly than the time it took to be served here. I left frustrated from the service and really the entire experience and was still hungry after no lunch since having to return two improperly cooked burgers. read more

Nice little place in the Northern Lights Shopping Center n super busy on an early Saturday evening. There are a few tables n booths if you'd rather eat there but a lot of take outs too.! They have all kinds pizzas n toppings and I saw alot of calzones going out. I didn't see any chicken wings on the menu but that's what makes it a little bit different than most of the pizza places these days. I just went there for pizza. The wait was 20 minutes n they cut n box the pizza right there in front of you. The pizza was really good. The dough n sauce tasted fresh along w the sausage and cheese . What a great spot! I've been to the little place that they had down the street years ago and had not tried the new location. Lots of parking available- they are in an older strip mall next to a bakery and coffee shop. Friendly service, dining room was clean and inviting with lots of Chicago sports and neighborhood memorabilia. Their pizza is good, but it is NOT what I would call "Chicago Style" deep dish. I would call it hand tossed and has a very good taste to the sauce/gravy. Maybe they get away with this by calling it "Chicago Neighborhood" style (whatever that is). A great selection of sandwiches and bar food is available according to their menu. They offer a Polish Sausage sandwich that may not be the same as what is available on Maxwell Street, but is darn good none the less. I guess they should call it a Maxwell Street-esque Polish Sausage. The great Abe Forman would likely approve of this sandwich. Soft drinks are RC products and they have a good selection of beers, wines and mixed drinks to help wash down your meal. We felt the prices were reasonable for the area and for what you get. I can't believe that this place is just down the street, and we have never eaten here! Looking for a quick lunch, we saw it out of the corner of our eyes: The big sign in the grand colors of the Italian flag. The restaurant is in the historic AJ plaza, attached to a coffee shop. Turns out, they are together! I love COFFEE AND CARBS! We were seated and given menus right away. I ordered an eggplant parmesan sandwich and Mr P an Italian Beef sandwich. The bread was fresh and warm, the marinara sauce delightful and not too heavy, the eggplant in a light batter that kept a crunch. Mr P said that his meat and vegetables were cooked perfectly, also complimenting the crusty, warm bread. The inside is like a hometown bar and grill, but during the day, just a comfortable pub atmosphere. The fact that it's Chicago Italian...as an East-coaster, I'll let slide! lol The service was great. This place is definitely a hidden gem in my eyes. The prices are very reasonable considering how large their portion sizes are. You can definitely share or have some yummy leftovers. I had the Italian Beef sandwich but replaced the Sweet Peppers with Hot Peppers. It was delicious! I usually have to go to Portillos when I have an Italian Beef craving, but my friend and I agreed this was way better than Portillos. I'm not sure if they offer the sandwich dipped, though. (The au jus was on the side). Next time I will ask. Also, I had a small and it was still plenty filling for lunch. My first stop here was not the greatest, but I came back... and I have been blown away. WOW. 5 stars alone for having the absolute best eggplant parmesan I have ever had anywhere. Holy moly... this stuff is what dreams are made of. Eggplant parm is like the avocado of dishes - there is a small window where it is delightful, and everything on either side is just plain gross. But Dino's hits the eggplant parm right where it should be. The eggplant is not soggy or bitter, but perfectly breaded and the right texture. Served on a mound of spaghetti, this is also a meal for three days, especially after the huge salad and bread that comes with it. I think the pizza is also good, too, although at this point I can't imagine skipping the eggplant parm. The wine selection could be better, but the pours are always robust, and that counts for something. Add in that the staff is really nice and always treat my parents well, who have come to embrace Dino's as one of their favorite local restaurants, and I am a fan. read more
