Apache Junction is way out of my normal part of town, yet the next time I am out this way, I am coming back to Paladino's, formerly known as Dino's. I had the spaghetti & meatballs special for $9.99 and it was awesome. Didn't expect a giant plate of pasta with two huge meatballs and two hearty slices of garlic bread. The salad was also really good with tomatoes and black olives. My only regret is not also getting some pizza, which looks great. Dino's is a great place to support a local business, and is available through Doordash. The new location has allowed me to frequent in their establishment more as the old location was very small. Their pasta dishes are what I usually order, but I do also enjoy their salad as the greens are nice and fresh. Service is usually pretty great, though can be a little slower. I had the Italian Beef sandwich but replaced the Sweet Peppers with Hot Peppers. It was delicious! I usually have to go to Portillos when I have an Italian Beef craving, but my friend and I agreed this was way better than Portillos. I'm not sure if they offer the sandwich dipped, though. (The au jus was on the side). Next time I will ask. Also, I had a small and it was still plenty filling for lunch. We found this place while staying in Apache Junction for a month. It seems to be a busy family-owned cozy restaurant. We went twice while in town including Valentine's Day. The food is amazing! The filet steak dinner is awesome! The fried shrimp are the best I have ever had. All of their sandwiches are amazing and plentiful. Their pasta dishes are delicious and you get a salad & garlic bread with them. Pizzas are awesome! If you have room, try one of their Italian desserts too! I've lived in Arizona for 9 years. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs. I'm moving back to Chicago, so I figured I'd try Dino's finally. They have limited indoor seating due to CoVid. No masks or gloves, but they do offer sanitizer. The establishment is family owned and I love that! I miss these type of places from Chitown. I tried a Chicago style hotdog and it was excellent!! 5/5. It's a true Vienna hot dog with cucumbers, tomato, mustard, peppers if you want them, onions, celery salt, and a poppy seed hot dog bun! It was just as good as Portillos... a Chicago chain that has gone nationwide. The pizza comes in 2 sizes. Now if you are looking for a true Chicago pizza... this isn't it. I didn't see deep dish, but Chicago does have a thin crust pizza too that is cut into squares. This pizza was regular thickness pizza... like Digiorno. That being said... the taste was excellent! The sauce has a sweet but very tasty essence about it. All the meat and vegetables seemed fresh. The pizza was awesome. The only thing I wish is they had a deep dish (if they do I apologize for missing it). Overall it's a modest establishment that is underwhelming from the outside but the food is one of the better places in Apache Junction. I'd say their hotdog is the best one I've had on this side of the valley. The pizza was very very good and among the best I've had in AZ. I find AZ pizza to typically be bland or way to greasy. This was neither. I highly recommend you check this place out and support the family owned business!!! They have $5 Italian beef sandwiches. If you want homemade delicious Chicago based Italian food you need to come here. 5 for everything we got. They have large portions. They don't skimp on the meat in the sandwiches. I forgot to take a pic of our fried ravioli and we were halfway done eating our cannolis when I took the pics of them. The place is kinda small. Thursday night at 6pm and they are packed. Get here early. Nothing extra special in the decore here but I come for the food not the decorations. The ambiance has small town good eats vibe. Waitress was great! I don't have enough praise for this Family restaurant. The food is incredible. The eggplant Parmesan and lasagna is prepared fresh; and seasoned perfectly, and your palette will know it! The dinner and sandwich portions are huge. It's worth the drive to Apache Junction, no matter where you live in the "Valley of the Sun". Pretty busy for a Friday at 3pm, me and 2 others just stood at the counter to place to go orders. Bartender just looked at us from 10' away, made no effort to walk over nor say anything to all of us. Seemed to be 2 waitresses literally walking around us standing there to get to & from the kitchen. Finally one of them decided to say something to us and then took our orders. I ordered the Italian Sub, then was asked (what I heard) "what kind of cheese", but she asked Nana G's? I said the Italian, she said Nana G's again, I said Italian. Really didn't appreciate the attitude from her. They only have TWO subs, an Italian and a Turkey, so not sure why the back & forth was necessary. Was told 10 minutes. I stood in the same area for 20, then had to ask where my sandwich was, lady goes in the back, grabs it from the cooler and hands it to me. So, way to go doing your job and making me wait extra time. Good Italian places are scarce as hen's teeth in the Valley. There's quite a number of them around but few of them get more than a "decent" rating from me. Those that are decent tend to turn up the price quite a bit for noodles and sauce. I can say that only a handful of great Italian places exist in the general vicinity of Phoenix, and Dino's is one of them. You get a plate of really superior-tasting sauce with your pasta, along with two big meatballs and garlic bread, for a very modest price! I keep wanting to know what the other food tastes like, but with the pasta so good and cheap, I can't resist. Eventually, I'll have to try the pizza. Good service here. Stopped by for a dinner late in the evening on a weekday. There was a bit of a wait but that is understandable. The restaurant is not massive, however, the tables are laid out well to allow for proper spacing. After being greeted at the door, our name was on the list for first available (table or bar), but they were unable to provide an estimated length of wait which I found a little inconvenient. We ended up being sat at the bar. The bartender/server was very pleasant. She quickly greeted us to determine what we were drinking and eating. Caprese salad ($12.50) to start - very tasty and fresh. The balsamic glaze was wonderful. For my meal, I had the meatball sub ($11.75 for just the sub, no sides). The meatballs were huge and topped with a beautiful blanket of sauce and cheese. I enjoyed the sub roll it was served on as it held up well to the filling. All in all a decent meatball sub. The menu offered the typical items you would expect for Italian food and they do offer "Specials" which were listed on a chalkboard sign out front. read more
