I feel it my duty to shine a better light on this place than is being done in some of the other reviews. My husband and I used to live at 15th and Market, so Palermo became one of our go-tos when we wanted a consistently good meal. The food is solid. Not particularly unique or imaginative, but always very good. But the absolute best part about this place is how welcome we are made to feel every time we come in. The owner always greets us with a hug and big smile. She is so warm and engaging that when my mom comes into town, she insists that we eat here more than once during her stay. For the level of service alone, Palermo deserves 10 stars. read more

Awesome. I never have a bad thing to say about these guys When my boyfriend and I lived in Fremont we were addicted to Palermo's delivery. The delivery drivers were always fast, friendly, and treated us like family. We ate in once when I was sick and after mentioning I was going to get tea because I had a cold our waitress clucked over me like a mother hen and brought me hot tea and soup on the house faster than I could cough. We took advantage of a beautiful sunny day in February by going for a walk in Ballard and thought we'd stop here for lunch. Our waiter was quite surly and barely tolerable. The salads we ordered with the "house" dressing, had some oil and a tiny bit of a dressing making them quite tasteless and unremarkable. The only reason it has 2 stars instead of one was for the ravioli dish I ordered which was on a plate of spinach and rather tasty. My poor wife got the gyro which was okay, but the pita was very stiff and stale and she left over half of it on her plate. I've only ever ordered breakfast here (so far) and I love these guys. Seriously. Pretty much once a week I'll get french toast, my boyfriend gets the ham and cheese omlette and they are delicious. The side order of bacon is worth the price and we usually go completely lazy and order milk and silverware from them too. The reason I am giving this restaurant 5 stars is because of my experience today with their customer care. I called Palermo restaurant in Ballard to ask a few questions so I could figure out whether there was anything I could order. I have medical issues that mean I need to be on a diet free of added sugar and refined grains. The guy on the phone was so sweet. He answered my specific questions but then said, "We could make that for you special without the sugar though, no problem." I was so surprised and touched! I got a 100% whole wheat pizza crust with regular cheese, goat cheese, eggplant, and olive oil instead of pizza sauce. It was yummy! I will definitely be ordering there again! read more

While you can still get a pizza delivery in the evening, they expand their menu offerings on the gourmet side. My friend and I had only pizza, so I can't weigh in on the other offerings, but the pizza was mediocre at best -- greasy, tasteless, drowned in cheap cheese. My friend described it as somewhere between Pizza Hut and Pagliacci's; I'd say it's closer to the Pizza Hut end of that spectrum. If Pizza Hut is your thing, you might like this place. If you're more inclined toward high-quality, gourmet pizza, as I am (Serious Pie, Delancy, even Tutta Bella), then steer clear. The restaurant was clean. The atmosphere was bland. The service was adequate. The menu had the feel of a chain restaurant, though as far as I can tell, there are only two outlets of this place, one in Ballard and one in Capitol Hill. You could certainly do a lot better in Ballard and in Capitol Hill, particularly as this place wasn't cheap. read more

I love this restaurant. I eat there about twice a month (still) and have moved out of Ballard. They do a mean Gluten Free pizza crust. I stopped in the Ballard location after being totally fed up with another pizza place farther east (rhymes with borachi). It was a quiet afternoon there and parked in front and ran in and ordered a large to go and some bread , yes I said bread, not those cruddy bread sticks real bread with garlic. The pizza was good but i didn't have a chance to enjoy it all as when i got home I had a slice to check it out with a piece of bread and waiting for family to get home I popped it in the oven to keep warm. Bad move !it got all dried out and basically inedible Boo Hoo. The thing I wanted to rave about was the server who when she heard I was gonna wait outside to keep a watch for the meter maid offered to run it out to my car at the curb as I waited inside.
