Pizza/salad was ready and got it from friendly staff person, though price (even with tax included) was some 4 dollars more than advertised on website. "Large" pizza looked more like a medium size but was tasty enough and came with extra sauce and cheese, and the large salad was good..but the pizza had this weird too-thin cracker style crust which was not as before and not so great. After moving out of the area, I hadn't been here in a few years. My 2nd mom and I went early on a Friday to avoid having to wait. There were diners at three of their tables. However, after ordering, it was a little over an hour before we received our entrées. In addition, after one employee walked back and forth twice, I had to ask for more water (my glass was empty and sitting at the edge of the table). The server never checked up on us, and I had to ask a different server for the bill. Customer service is apparently a thing of the past. And this is a very small restaurant! Finally tried this place. We went to olive garden, one hour wait for 2 !! parked and were seated immediately, free bread and water came out. Friday's meal was so good that I ordered the same thing on Monday. Not sure if I was given days-old seafood or if the chef didn't know the menu. First, my salad was wrong -- I ordered a house salad with oil and vinegar, received a house salad with ranch. The Frutti di Mare was disgusting. The first bite, I stomached the dryness and chewiness. We were near the area so I just stopped in instead of waiting on the phone. A gentleman had been waiting there awhile before me. He made a comment, "man I should've just ate here, probably would've gotten my food faster." He finally got his food and gave us a "good luck" on his way out. I wanted some good food so it was worth the wait to me. The hostess that was taking orders at the counter was nice. She was doing her best given the situation. She gave us water while we waited and apologized for the wait. Nothing she could do. Again, I was patient because I knew the food was going to be good. Took about an hour to get our food. Dropped in on a sunday evening and the place was about 3/4 full when we arrived; almost empty when leaving 45 min later. Found this little gem of an italian restaurant with the entertainment book. Card is good for $12 off one entree when another of equal or greater value is purchased. You also have to order a couple drinks to get the discount. Their warm bread and dipping sauce (pureed sun dried tomato, thyme, olive oil, parmesan cheese, eggplant, rosemary) was Killer! Forgot if we devoured 2 or 3 plates...No matter, had them box the last dipping sauce container and it went well over the leftover tomato and basil linguine. The white clam sauce linguine tasted good. It had a lot of clams but didn't have as much clam flavor as I expected considering the amount of mixed clams in the dish. I guess I prefer some heavy cream mixed in and it probably needed a bit more clam juice, but very palatable. Also ordered the tomato and basil linguine. Tasted like they used fresh ingredients and was good. Dipping sauce poured in on the leftovers did the trick to set it over the top with flavor. Service was surprisingly quick considering how busy they were. They have one bathroom in the back of the restaurant. Yes it's in a gas station/strip mall, but honestly I could care less if it has a nice ambiance, great service and food with an excellent value. I'll be back. read more

Lots of clams, scallops, and shrimp! Wasn't too crazy about the chicken malanzane. The ingredients didn't go together and the snap peas really threw me off. I have been in Benicia for over 5 years now and saw the place but never tried it, because the outer appearance isn't eye-catching. It is next to a gas station but don't let the location fool you. The garlic aroma can be smelled from outside. Great food and friendly staff. Food can take awhile, but should be expected since they aren't just microwaving a dish. We placed the takeout order on 10-13-22. My son and granddaughter enjoyed their pasta carbonara which is very flavorful with the noodles cooked perfectly. However I DID NOT enjoy my Alaina seafood pasta order - artichoke and other vegetables were very stringy, fresh sweet peas overcooked and found just 4 shrimps and no other seafood added. This restaurant is still my ultimate "go to" Italian Restaurant! I will drive out here to Benecia whenever I have the craving for delicious seafood pasta. Well, actually any pasta, but I usually get their Frutti Di Mare. The amount of seafood that is put into the dish is amazing! There is always plenty of food! And that warm, freshly baked bread is to die for! It is baked right there on the spot and it is delicious! They also make their own Ranch Dressing. I don't usually use Ranch on my salad, but theirs is the best! You really must try it! The wine list is also mpressive. Plenty of wonderful bottles to choose from. The place is still very small, so it can get pretty packed , which is why I would suggest a reservation, but it is not necessary, as long as you do not mind waiting a bit or eating at the bar. The service can get slow because it seems they are a little short handed at the moment, but all the servers help each other out and are quite good at making sure you are taken care of and not forgotten. You definitely feel the comfort of a small family restaurant. A local spot to go to and definitely bump into a neighbor or two. The great thing about this place is that it is right down the hill from my BFF's house, so I can always stop by on my way home from a visit with her and my 2nd family. I had to drop a star though because I felt like the prices .have skyrocked here. I realize that some costs have to increase, but they really seem to have jumped considerably since my last visit. We are not in San Francisco and this isn't a formal restaurant. It is a nice, casual, local family spot and a great place to take your family out for dinner. It is also nice for a first date. Palermo's has to the worst servers! They talk to regulars, and ignore new comers. Tonight 8-16-19, because of the very poor service, I did take out. I ordered Gorgonzola pasta, it had no Gorgonzola in it. They forgot my dressing and parmigiana cheese. They over charged me by 15.00 dollars. I ordered 2 medium pizzas with 2 toppings. 10.99 each. My bill should have been under 40.00 the charged me 54. I called to let them know and the girl who answered was very rude, told me they didn't care if I came back. I won't be back, and who ever was the cook tonight, even the pizza was horrible! Usually that is what is they are known for, not tonight. We Had to tell the server that two other tables had been seated after us already had received drinks AND appetizers. He had a terrible excuse so we played along and I explained that if he didn't take charge we wouldn't be staying. Dinner finally came and it was great; however, two bites into our meal and the hostess came over to ask if we needed boxes. WTF!? Seriously!? My girlfriend had a second glass of white wine.
