Review for Palermo's Restaurant - Bordentown, NJ Palermo's Restaurant is a spacious, family-friendly pizzeria with plenty of seating, making it a great spot for dining in. My wife and I visited with the goal of enjoying some good garlic knots, and in that regard, we were pleased. The garlic knots were quite nice--warm, flavorful, and delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of our meal didn't quite live up to expectations. The cheese slice was a letdown--super thin, floppy, and lacking in both cheese and sauce. I was hoping for a more balanced and satisfying bite. We also tried the cheesesteaks, which were just okay. While not bad, they didn't stand out, and I've definitely had bigger and better ones elsewhere. That being said, Palermo's does have an extensive lunch and dinner menu, which makes me want to give it another shot. There's potential here, and I'm hoping a second visit will be more impressive. For now, I'd rate this place 2.5 out of 5.

This was definitely one of the best chicken parm pizzas I've ever had. I've been going to Palermos for years now, I usually go with a tomato pie. I wanted to switch it up this time, definitely did not disappoint!

Very nice and friendly staff that was welcoming to me and my friends as we walked in a little before closing. The establishment was clean & gave the feels of a pizza joint. Guests that were already there recommended the pies that we got & they didn't steer us wrong. Thats always a good sign when guests do the selling for you. Pizza was very good and I'm not even a fan of thin slices. I would definitely come back and try the others that they offer and explore the menu. David Portnoy even visited and i saw he left his famous review!

We live close to Palermo's and since we've moved in it has been our go to pizza spot. We typically stick to the tomato pies. Good sweet marinara with a tasty cheese blend. We've gotten bruschetta from there as well and have enjoyed it. We've yet to try specialty pizzas but plan on it. Will continue to keep coming beee.

Kinda just walked in and had no direction on where to go. Didn't know if we had to order in front or could be seated. Took about 5 minutes to get a guide and be seated in a bigger table for 8. After all the hype at work about this pizza joint, here I was, with the group! Tried their Classic Pizza with Eggplant and their signature Tomato Pie. We also sampled their Fried Zucchini and Jalapeño Poppers that had cheddar cheese. I have to say, the crust was thin and delicious. I'm a sucker for eggplant and was craving it that day, but their Tomato Pie, which was what they were known for, takes it! In regards to parking, somewhat limited, had to park in the gravel/dirt on a rainy day, since parking was shared. There is a good amount of seating and can host for bigger groups. Food came out in a timely manner, with the exception of one order, another penne vodka, but one of our party members didn't mind since the serving was generous and inhaled it in a few moments once it was received. To keep things simple, Venmo/Cashapp a single person to fork the bill for the table... took a bit to get out of there after eating. I apologize for the make shift pics, I was super hungry and needed the food to get in my belly!

We live in North Carolina every time we come to New Jersey this is our go to place for great pizza. Went there the other night and had Brooklyn Pizza margarita pizza and their pizza with sausage has real sausage. It's not that cut up sausage as we call it. And Loretta and the Owner are awesome.

A huge thank you to Palermo's especially Vince and his entire staff for helping make my early 50th birthday celebration so special! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was outstanding, and everything was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend!

It seems like a historic restaurant so it's not modern or trendy but it's classic. Apparently it's a BYOB... they don't have a bar or alcohol drinks. I have never been to a restaurant that is BYOB. The server (Miranda) was sweet. Young, energetic and nice. The Cesar salad was good. The pizza (pie) was good. We had a classic cheese pie.

Passed by Palmermo's tomato pies today on my way to Atlantic City . I placed the order by phone and I wanted to arrive before it's done so it don't sit in the box and get soggy . My main reason why I do that is because I want the pie crispy . I've been here at least 5 or 6 times and it's always a home run . I took a pic of the pie when I got it and again as shown a pic of the under carriage to show that they put too much sauce in the middle of the pie which made it soggy . I was disappointed but not completely discouraged because the taste is there but the main allure of the pizza to me is the crispiness unfortunately I didn't get that today . I will definitely continue to stop by on my way to Atlantic City . This still remains my top 5 pizza shops in all of New York and New Jersey.

Even though it was packed I still got my pies right on time. I got a traditional tomato and a pepperoni. If you like strong sauce go for the tomato which is what I preferred. I did takeout but the dine in section is really nice and has a lot of seating. Staff was very friendly. read more

Forget this place and go to the other two best pizza places in Hamilton. Google them. I was there with other people and all 4 pies we horrible. You can break your teeth on the crust. They say it's a Trenton-style pie, it's not. read more

Pizza is awesome. Dine in menu lacks flavor and quality. Observed my waiter walking back to the kitchen eating my left over calamari which was just dropped into the fryer from the freezer. It was rubbery. read more

My favorite place to order food. My boyfriend and I actually made it a tradition to order almost every Sunday. The best pizza in the area! Tomato and cheese pies are both out of this world!! The cheesesteaks are the best, the fries are crunchy shoe string, salads are fresh, pastas dishes are always a hit, the steak Stromboli is my absolute favorite (the small) is enough for two people it's delicious, always cooked perfectly and very filling! Also the chicken tenders are homemade cutlets cooked to perfection! Delivery is quick and always correct and hot n delicious! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! read more

The Brooklyn is our pizza of choice here. The is the second time I have said this in a review: I could have sworn I wrote a review of this pizzeria before. I was introduced to Palermo's by a neighbor a few years ago. This is before the renovation when the history of this place was in the darker decor, when it was slightly smaller and had more age and character. Fast forward to when I introduced it to the BF. The place has had a makeover with a new matchy, matchy modern look. It looks very good, don't get me wrong. To me, though, as long as the Brooklyn still tastes good (and it does), I can truly care less what the place looks like. Also, there is lots of parking; always check in the back. Lastly, not sure why, but if I am driving, it is very easy for me to miss turning into the drive where the restaurant is located. Argh . read more

My order wasn't even acknowledged when I got to the restaurant a half hour after I ordered it. Then they made me stand there for a half hour in my pajamas while they were pretending to look for my order when it was painfully obvious that they did not prepare it yet. My meatballs were undercooked. My pasta order was incorrect. My Fries were undercooked and my cheesecake was completely frozen. read more

The delivery can be slow. But for this native Texan, it may be the best pizza I've had. I'm not sure what else to say beyond falling in love with a nearly perfect cheese pizza. The crust was the perfect New York/New Jersey thickness, topped with a barely sweet tomato sauce, and a perfect ratio of cheese to provide cheesy goodness without overwhelming the rest of the pizza. The menu is expansive and covers everything that an East Coast Italian restaurant and pizzeria should do. And they do each and every thing well. read more

Im not gonna beat around the bush. As far as "Classic Jersey tomato pie" goes Palermo's may not be DeLerenzos, or even Papas but its the best you'll find in Bordentown easily. Honestly its the best you'll find outside of Robbinsville at this point. I've been coming here for 25+ years so call me bias because I am, but I think the flood of other 5 star reviews will balance out my proclivities. The staff has always been well trained and nice, the delivery is always on time, I never had an item on the menu that I didn't finish, and its a staple of Bordentown if not Burlington eating on the whole. read more

Restaurant dinners and pizza has taken a significant downward step since The father has not been present . I always loved their veal marsala in a creamy sauce. My last two orders the veal was tough and chewy and not a hint of marsala wine. They longer offer garlic knots with the meal and substitute triangles of pizza dough instead of good Italian bread. My last pizza order was burnt black. Penny wise and pound foolish. read more

Amazing! I enjoyed gluten free Gnocchi Firenze, gluten free garlic cheese bread and gluten free tiramisu. Everything was delicious even the gluten free bread. I have celiac disease and they seemed knowledgeable and they were careful about cross contamination. read more

Whether you are new to the area or have been here for years... Their pizza is very good but if you want something different you should try the tomato pie it's great... They have a lot of choices on the menu and everything I've had so far was good... The service is very good and the staff is very friendly and helpful... read more

We ordered the Palermo salad and a tomato pie with meatballs and sausage. The salad was a delicious and a generous portion for two. The pie was perfectly crisp and the chunky tomato sauce had just right amount of sweetness. The sausage topping was good, but nothing special. The meatball topping was delicious but still didn't compare to Delorenzo's meatballs. Don't let the pie sit too long or it will lose its crunch! Service was quick and friendly. Place looks outdated, but clean. BYOB! Sadly, they were out of the peanut butter truffle. Good not great pizza. Came down to visit a friend and ordered the "brooklyn square" and the regular tomato pie. The crust was undercooked and was a little soggy but the flavor of the sauce was good. This was the case for both pies. The tomato pie is definitely unique but with the soggy dough brought it down to 3 stars. The sauce had a good taste but not up to the standards of a 4 star pizza. The breadsticks were average as well. It looked like it was the bread you get with your pasta meal with a little cheese and garlic on top. I expected a little more from this appetizer. read more

We grabbed carry out here after depleting our grocery supply at home. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs. I got the chicken Valentino. Our children got kids meals. Everything was perfect. I'm not a huge Italian food person, but when you're in NJ, Italian cuisine is everywhere. So I'm always on the hunt for something amazing that will keep me coming back. Well- The rumors are true. I'm stuck in Burlington, on business, on Christmas Eve ((SULK)). So I have decided to bust my diet, and go into The Trenton area for some tomato pie. Palermo's was (relatively) close, and open, so I decided I would give them a try. A large, carry out pie with three toppings was a little over $21.00. First point: it's a beautiful pie. Tomato pie with anchovies, sausage and garlic. It would have been prettier with olives though. Second point: the crust is very good; chewy, with a little fight back. I would prefer it more well done, but I did not ask for that. Third point: the pie has the right amount of crushed tomatoes, but they're a little sweeter than I care for. Overall, however, its a really good pie. Highly recommended! read more

Ordered a calzone for delivery. Girl on the phone took her time and asked questions about the order. Was surprised. Saturday night, ya know? This place is absolutely horrendous and has gone downhill they only take care of the people that they like the people that come in there all the time my parents were in there the other night and they were treated like trash the food there has gone downhill. Since when do you get charged on a refill on a soda that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard what is this 1986 and furthermore you hire kids that are in their 20s and they treat adults with the most ridiculous attitudes maybe you should think before you hire snotty employees. I will never go to your restaurant or recommend your restaurant to any of the 2000 people that I'm friends with on Facebook or any of the people that I'm friends with on Instagram. Or the multiple people that I know in Hamilton or Bordentown or anywhere else I know in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. Learn how to run your restaurant learn how to hire people learn how to treat your customers it was absolutely disgusting how you treated my parents and maybe you shouldn't seat your tables so close together so you're waiters and waitresses behinds aren't in your customers faces when they're taking their other customers orders have a great day. And maybe you should take a lesson on how to cook authentic Italian food because shortly you do not know how because your food taste like garbage read more

Fantastic!! We ordered their tomato pie and a small calzone and it was excellent. And they delivered to Ewing! Which we know is not a quick drive from Bordentown but it came on time and still warm. This is place is great! I would highly recommend. read more

Where to begin. First of all. Over priced for low quality food. Fettuccine alfredo with chicken (extra cost) came with overcooked pasta and literally 7 tiny pieces of unseasoned chicken. Buffalo chicken salad was nothing but a bit of wilted lettuce and over-cooked, dry chicken. The soup had the distinctive flavor of hot garbage. The french fries we ordered had about 10-20 tiny, stringy undercooked fries. So sad because of the hype this place got. As a family that has just moved to the area and eats out often, it's a real shame we will be crossing Palermo's off the list. Absolutely horrid food, overreaching prices, and unapologetic management. My 6 & 8 yr old didn't mind the pizza, but i tried it...it's super bland and basic. read more

We love Palermo's! They're always quick and the food is great. I just ordered from them, delivery time said 7:40-7:50, they showed up at 7:20! Order was correct and food was fresh. Definitely one of my favorite places to order from in the Bordentown area. read more

Palermo's makes a very good pizza. I got a standard large with pepperoni and it was very good. The pizza was greasy but not too greasy, and amounts of cheese, sauce and pepperoni was just right. I was also very happy that the sauce had some flavor to it but didn't overdo it. The pizza was also ready in the amount of time they said it would be. The employees were very nice, fast, and friendly. I got my pizza to go, but the pizzeria also had what appeared to be a very nice dining room. I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again! read more

Are here after a full day at Six Flags--delish! My son ordered a monster calzone (it wasn't even the large size!) and my daughter ordered a pasta in garlic and oil. Both massively enjoyed their dinners. I'm on the keto diet so I had the antipasto salad, which was chock full of meats and cheeses -- another winner. On top of all this, our server was absolutely fantastic. Probably one of the top waitstaff I have ever encountered. She was friendly, responsive, and very customer service oriented! We finished with an ice cream bomb from their frozen case which was also fantastic, according to my son who was the only one that had room left for dessert. Been going to Palermo's since the late 1990s. They have the best pizza. Period. Tomato Pie is an institution in itself. Brooklyn pie is unbelievable. And everything else on their menu is fantastic. I've lived in different cities and states, but nothing compares to Palermo's. I always make sure to stop in whenever I am in the area. You will not be disappointed! read more

So a bit inconsistent. The service is just okay. I have found the bartenders a bit aloof. But they do make mighty good drinks. My favorite thing is the sausage egg rolls. Highly recommend them. The pizza is also quite good. I will keep coming here but wish it was a little more reasonably priced.

There was so much cheese on this pizza that everything was melted together and the slices were not even cut properly. I actually had a really hard time eating this pizza and even when I let it harden up a little bit, it was still sliding off of the very thin dough. The crust at the end was phenomenal, but the actual pie itself was a bit of a nightmare. I couldn't eat much more of it and ended up cutting the crust off and just eating that. Sad day. Both dishes were amazing and portions were large (we both took some home). The service is professional and the staff is knowledgeable about the menu. Pros: I genuinely can't think of a single favorable aspect of our dining experience…read more Cons: Everything--from the service, to the table spacing, to the food quality--was an issue. The ambiance and layout were problematic throughout the meal. The table spacing was already uncomfortably tight from the start, and toward the end of our visit, a party of 10 was seated in a way that completely blocked off the front left side of the already small dining area. This left only a narrow path on the right side for entry and exit. Given how confined the space became, it raised legitimate concerns about safety and whether the layout could pose an issue in the event of an emergency. After waiting 40 minutes for the complimentary bread, I finally had to speak up and ask for it to be brought to our table. Given that there were several open tables both inside and outside, we couldn't understand why there was such a tremendous delay with such a simple task. For an additional "starter" my dining partner ordered the Caesar salad which was completely drenched in dressing. While we were initially excited about the homemade pasta entrees, we were extremely disappointed once out they arrived. I understand that homemade pasta is typically served al dente, but neither dish was cooked properly. I had to cut my pasta with a knife because a fork simply wasn't enough, and my dining partner couldn't cut several pieces of his pasta at all--some were still noticeably crunchy. I was especially surprised, as I've dined here before and don't recall these kinds of issues--perhaps there has been a change in the kitchen. Unfortunately, we weren't able to address any of this during the meal because our waitress, Marti, never checked on us from the time she delivered our entrees (about an hour after we were seated). Not once, not even upon delivering the check did she ask us how our meals were! Before leaving, I chose to address the server, Marti, directly and share our experience. I expressed my disappointment with both the service and the food, but her response made an already bad experience significantly worse. Every comment was met with a large, clearly insincere smile and a dismissive "I'm sorry to hear that," with no effort to actually resolve anything. A good server would show genuine remorse, offer to involve a manager, or at the very least attempt to make things right--whether by addressing the issue or offering to comp part of the meal. None of that happened. There was no accountability, no urgency, and no real acknowledgment of the situation--just a phony, rehearsed response that felt completely disrespectful. To make matters worse, shortly after we left, my dining partner became ill, experiencing both diarrhea and nausea, along with severe stomach pain that has now lasted over 14 hours and is still ongoing. If I could give this experience a 0 out of 5, I would.

I ordered for the first time on Sunday. Pizza with two toppings, they got one of the toppings wrong. I let that slide. Ordered again tonight and decided to go with this place primarily because they are one of the only places on Grubhub that accepts orders after 9pm. Wings. I believe the wings I got were from a Cornish game hen. They were tiny, smaller than the ones you get at an "all you can eat wing night." There was hardly any meat on them, looked and tasted like over fried chicken skin on bone. For $15 and 20 wings I expected enough for two people. One person ate what they could, which wasn't much. This place never lets me down! Best pizza in this entire area! Hands down! Not to mention that they recently expanded to open the shop next door to them and it looks fantastic! Very, clean, and visually pleasing to the eye!
