The Brooklyn is our pizza of choice here. The is the second time I have said this in a review: I could have sworn I wrote a review of this pizzeria before. I was introduced to Palermo's by a neighbor a few years ago. This is before the renovation when the history of this place was in the darker decor, when it was slightly smaller and had more age and character. Fast forward to when I introduced it to the BF. The place has had a makeover with a new matchy, matchy modern look. It looks very good, don't get me wrong. To me, though, as long as the Brooklyn still tastes good (and it does), I can truly care less what the place looks like. Also, there is lots of parking; always check in the back. The delivery can be slow. But for this native Texan, it may be the best pizza I've had. I'm not sure what else to say beyond falling in love with a nearly perfect cheese pizza. The crust was the perfect New York/New Jersey thickness, topped with a barely sweet tomato sauce, and a perfect ratio of cheese to provide cheesy goodness without overwhelming the rest of the pizza. My last two orders the veal was tough and chewy and not a hint of marsala wine. They longer offer garlic knots with the meal and substitute triangles of pizza dough instead of good Italian bread. The pie was perfectly crisp and the chunky tomato sauce had just right amount of sweetness. The sausage topping was good, but nothing special. The meatball topping was delicious but still didn't compare to Delorenzo's meatballs. Don't let the pie sit too long or it will lose its crunch! Service was quick and friendly. Good not great pizza. Came down to visit a friend and ordered the "brooklyn square" and the regular tomato pie. The crust was undercooked and was a little soggy but the flavor of the sauce was good. This was the case for both pies. The tomato pie is definitely unique but with the soggy dough brought it down to 3 stars. The sauce had a good taste but not up to the standards of a 4 star pizza. The breadsticks were average as well. It looked like it was the bread you get with your pasta meal with a little cheese and garlic on top. I expected a little more from this appetizer. read more

Palermo's was (relatively) close, and open, so I decided I would give them a try. A large, carry out pie with three toppings was a little over $21.00. First point: it's a beautiful pie. Tomato pie with anchovies, sausage and garlic. It would have been prettier with olives though. Second point: the crust is very good; chewy, with a little fight back. I would prefer it more well done, but I did not ask for that. Third point: the pie has the right amount of crushed tomatoes, but they're a little sweeter than I care for. We grabbed carry out here after depleting our grocery supply at home. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs. I got the chicken Valentino. Our children got kids meals. Everything was perfect. I'm not a huge Italian food person, but when you're in NJ, Italian cuisine is everywhere. So I'm always on the hunt for something amazing that will keep me coming back. Well- The rumors are true. Where to begin. First of all. Over priced for low quality food. Fettuccine alfredo with chicken (extra cost) came with overcooked pasta and literally 7 tiny pieces of unseasoned chicken. Buffalo chicken salad was nothing but a bit of wilted lettuce and over-cooked, dry chicken. The soup had the distinctive flavor of hot garbage. The french fries we ordered had about 10-20 tiny, stringy undercooked fries. So sad because of the hype this place got. As a family that has just moved to the area and eats out often, it's a real shame we will be crossing Palermo's off the list. Absolutely horrid food, overreaching prices, and unapologetic management. My 6 & 8 yr old didn't mind the pizza, but i tried it...it's super bland and basic. read more

Palermo's makes a very good pizza. I got a standard large with pepperoni and it was very good. The pizza was greasy but not too greasy, and amounts of cheese, sauce and pepperoni was just right. I was also very happy that the sauce had some flavor to it but didn't overdo it. The pizza was also ready in the amount of time they said it would be. The employees were very nice, fast, and friendly. I got my pizza to go, but the pizzeria also had what appeared to be a very nice dining room. Are here after a full day at Six Flags--delish! My son ordered a monster calzone (it wasn't even the large size!) and my daughter ordered a pasta in garlic and oil. Both massively enjoyed their dinners. I'm on the keto diet so I had the antipasto salad, which was chock full of meats and cheeses -- another winner. On top of all this, our server was absolutely fantastic. Probably one of the top waitstaff I have ever encountered. She was friendly, responsive, and very customer service oriented!
