Came here on a whim on day and discovered amazing quesadillas! Paleteria La Guadalajara 2 seems to be a hidden gem in Vacaville offering an array of Mexican food and treats. I've been 3 times now, and each time I've gone, everyone was super kind! They even gave me a bit of champurrado to try for free, and it was delicious! Each time, I've had their quesadilla de maiz which features a corn tortilla they make in fresh in-house. Inside there is cheese, lettuce, sour cream, salsa, and your meat of choice. Out of all the meats I've tried (carne asada, tinga, lomo, and carnitas), their lomo and tinga were my favorite! For $14 you get 2 huge quesadillas. Half of 1 was enough for me. read more

My wife and I stopped by La Guadalajara while we were in Vacaville on a blistering hot 95F degree day to share a mangonada. When we stopped by at 6:30 p.m., there was one person who was sitting at a table waiting for their order to be made. From the looks of it, La Guadalajara is a two person family operation: one person is in the kitchen -- in charge of making hot food orders, and one person in the front-- in charge of scooping ice cream, making drinks, and taking orders. Because of this, you can expect there to be a reasonably long wait if there are a few orders in front of yours. Overall, I really enjoyed the mangonada. There were plenty of mango chunks scattered throughout the drink, and there was a good balance of spicy, savoriness, and sweetness. My favorite part was definitely the tamarind candy stick. I can only speak to a small portion of their food menu, but so far with two orders under my belt, I have to say that I think is some of the best food in fairfield or vacaville. I have had their Pambazo and their hotdogs and both were beyond amazing. My one and only complaint is i wish the Pambazo had more meat in it, but holy hell, that bread dipped in enchilada sauce, then griddled to perfection is spot on! The hot dogs the sell are pretty special too. Credit to the cook that griddled both the inside and outside of the hotdog bun so even with all the toppings, it holds together like a champ! No mushy soggy bun here! I first seen this place when I was going to the Mexican meat market next door and I thought to myself "hmm, I'll have to come back another day to check it out. When I went back I was really craving a bionico so that's what I got and it was so satisfying! For those who don't know, a bionico is basically just a fruit salad with a sweet cream. The fruit consisted of strawberries, banana, apple, cantaloupe, mango mixed with a sweet cream which is usually made up of condensed and evaporated milk. Then to top it off it had some cereal/granola and coconut flakes. Goodness! While I was in I looked at the menu and there were so many options to choose from. Raspados, paletas, elotes, etc. As well as aguas frescas and food. Horchata was a little bland for my personal liking, I prefer it a little bit more creamier and sweet but that's just my personal preference. 2 medium bionicos and 1 large horchata came out to $20 which I thought was a little on the pricey side which is the only reason I took a star off the rating. The next time I went in I got a pambazo (torta that is soaked in a Chile type of sauce) it includes your choice of meat, I picked adobada and potato, lettuce, sour cream, cheese and salsa. Delicious Mexican desserts and snacks! My sister and I were craving something sweet, but not too heavy, on a Saturday evening and came across this hole in the wall on Yelp. We almost gave up after walking into the wrong store since it was getting late and super dark out, but we kept walking down the strip and finally found it next to Little Caesar's. They offer a variety of different desserts, as well as tacos and sandwiches. We picked up a Super Cubano sandwich for someone and snuck in a bite since the smell was irresistible. Very tasty and huge! So, I began ordering from this place shortly after finding out I was pregnant--this detail is relevant, I swear--and my cravings were at an all time HIGH! I put in the comments of either DoorDash or Uber if my tostilocos could NOT come with the pork skin because it's something I had to avoid in pregnancy. They did just that. They didn't add any pork skin. The next time I had ordered the biónico, if I'm not mistaken, but didn't actually consume it because it looked foamy--very suspicious--as if it was spat it or something. I ordered another item that also came in a cup the next time and added in the notes of my cup could have something like tape or anything covering the hole because I felt my previous order had been tampered with. They didn't take it shut but they did make it so the driver couldn't tamper with my food. I'm more than grateful, and everything they prepared was and is delicious while remaining at a fair price. Usually at other location, Mangonada are made with mango ice cream( mango blended w/sugar and freeze) but this location is more of a drink which contain tamarind in it. We went in to try their Mangonadas and to our surprise they are made out of shaved ice, normally we are used to natural mango sorbet, but decided to give it a try. The flavor was lacking and since the ice melted it watered down the flavor. It just tasted like water and chamoy. Next we tried their biónicos. In MY opinion they were overpriced for the amount thAt was given. It wasn't very good. The sweet cream was not good and tasted old. The apples had no crunch to them and were soft. We then asked the lady if their lime raspados were natural and she said yes. Well they weren't, it was just pure sugar with green food coloring. This was the second time we came here and unfortunately for US I don't think we'll be back. This is just OUR opinion, everyone else should give it a try and see for yourselves. read more

I bought some Tostilocos for $6! Personally, I thought it was pretty expensive. However, they were pretty good. You'll notice that you won't find anything cheaper around this area, everything is getting pretty pricey. I grew up in Vacaville and still have family there so I visit often. I wish this place was around when I lived there. This spot is a little jewel in Vacaville and I'm surprised not to see more reviews. You can get a pretty interesting variety of treats here from ice cream to popsicles, milkshakes, hot dogs, sandwiches (tortas), tostada, but not the burritos and tacos you may be used to at other Mexican eateries. They have many sweet offerings that I have never seen before that I absolutely love. As another reviewer mentioned, you have to try the Bionico which is a bunch of fresh fruit cut up in a big cup with sweet cream poured over the top. The Tortas are literally my favorite sandwich in Vacaville. They come with avocado, mexican cheese, different options for meat, pickled jalapeno, etc. They are truly wonderful. Oh and you to wash it all down with one of the "Agua Fresca" drinks they have like the pineapple flavor with big chunks of pineapple in it. WINNING! Every time I stop in to eat here I shake my head at all the people walking past the window to go to Subway. Don't be scared away by unfamiliar items or a name you can't pronounce. I sat on the curb outside one day eating a popsicle (with rice and raisins in it- so good! who knew!?) and a couple walked past saying, "Wow that looks good, where di you get that?" I told them they had to go in and get some tortas and ice cream and after five minutes the guy came out and said, "Wow I would have never come here, this is great! thanks for the tip." Hands down one of the best places I've ever had bionicos, Sopes and quesadillas at. This little hole-in-the wall is surprisingly delicious and authentically Mexican. Especially with their hand-made masa for their Sopes and their quesadillas. However, although I'd love to give it 5 stars, I'm giving it 3 stars since it has now been 3 times that we've gone and they've informed us they've run out of their carne asada. For such a small place and knowing that their carne asada is their top seller, especially on the weekend, they should plan accordingly and stock appropriately. Visiting Vacaville for the first time and found this restaurant. It was just what we were looking for. Fresh, local, not a chain. My husband had a torta (mexican sandwich) and a thick, fresh strawberry and banana shake (called a malt) and I had a fresh mango smoothie made with yogurt. Great flavor, very tasty. Service at the counter was exceptional. A women greeted us as soon as we entered and offered to answer any questions we had about the menu. Very friendly.
