Cod cakes for an appetizer were delicious. Pork cubes with potatoes and clams and the steak with an egg were both very good. I wasn't crazy about the monkfish and rice. I thought it was bland but I did jazz it up with their homemade hot sauce which is great. Was surprised that they used instant rice which I am not a fan of. The service was excellent. The name is deceiving as the menu is Portuguese. Amazing food at very reasonable prices. 80% of clientele are Portuguese speaking and waiters are bilingual. Menu is quintessentially Portuguese and we have eaten there twice and everything is exceptional. Serving portions are large and flavors are uniquely unamerican yet delicious! This used to be our favorite restaurant in Palm Coast.... I'm giving 2 stars only because I hope they can turn it around. We started noticing the food was not up to previous standards when they lost their cook several months back however it was still good and we continued to visit frequently. The real problem now is that they seem to want to cut off service at odd times and blame it on staff, private party, or some other made up reason. We have on several occasions showed up before 7pm on a Friday or Saturday only to be turned away even though there are plenty of seats and people being served. On the first occasion we were told they we understaffed and not seating any more at 7:10pm on a Saturday but we had friends in town and were in no hurry so insisted a longer wait was not an issue. They reluctantly seated us and service was perfectly normal and appetizers and food came out in a reasonable time. Food was good but not up to previous expectations but the real question is why are they turning away business when they have plenty of tables, servers standing around talking and the kitchen seems to have no issues putting out food? Hope the management is paying attention and turns things back around because the people they have in charge on weekends are not doing them any favors.... read more

Food was just ok for us the other night. Went there for the first time. Prior reviews looked ok so we have it a shot. No ambiance inside whatsoever, but the staff is very nice. My paella dish was not very impressive and the lobster was way dried out and overcooked as if it were microwaved. Clams were dried out and very gritty. The scallops and shrimp were good and seemed fresh and the rice was very good in the dish. Two others in our party had a steak dish and those seemed to be better than what I had. read more

We really enjoyed our dinner here at Palm Harbor BBQ Grill. The name is misleading, since this is not your traditional BBQ, but in a really good way. We sampled a few of the Portuguese dishes and really loved the flavors. The fresh, beautifully soft bread and salty olives to start the meal were amazing. I had the BBQ chicken with the garlic shrimp which was really the best of the dishes we ordered. I opted for black beans and rice for my sides and this was also a good choice. We thought the combination of french fries and white rice for sides was a little bit unusual, but we understand this is traditional. The BBQ pork was delicious as well and the portions generous. The ribs were a little dry so I would steer clear of those and stick to something a little more original. I would definitely want to visit here again and try some more of the unique flavors. read more

Wow! After reading positive reviews on YELP, we stopped for dinner, after the movies. We studied the many choices on the menu and I chose a chicken and pork combo while my wife chose a beef ribs and chicken combo. The waitress took my order and turned to leave. When I reminded her that my wife hadn't ordered yet, she told us that one combo dinner would be enough for both of us. So we ordered an extra salad and a bottle of wine. The food was excellent and the salads were very fresh and tasty. The service was professional and friendly. We'll be back. read more

Takeout is easy here - there is a side door leading directly to the takeout stand so you don't have to walk through the restaurant. Everyone in my group got an individual meal but the portion sizes are so generous, we really should have shared. Only misfire was the octopus in garlic - it had great flavor and the others enjoyed it - I thought it was a bit too rubbery. Totally my fault - recommend only ordering this if you are dining in the restaurant as the 10 minutes from the restaurant to my table were too much. We also got the half chicken and even the rice and beans were very flavorful. Requested a half portion of the chicken with mushrooms but I must have gotten a whole order because there were four pieces of chicken and a monstrous pile of fries. The kids steak with egg was thicker than expected and perfectly cooked, very tender. read more

It's always an option for takeout when everyone just feels like staying home, however there is also a small dining room for eating there, with many meal options. First time dining here and the food was wonderful and you get plenty of it for your money. Only problem i had is the atmosphere in the newer area wasn't good. Lighting needs to be subdued not by flourescents and i would not order iced tea. Next time we'll sit in the older area and i'll have wine, beer or water. We ordered the whole chicken with shrimp and had to take 1/2 home. It was fantastic. Service was great too. Will definitely return but they really need to dim the lighting in the new area. read more

My wife and I live locally and needed to get out for lunch and have been here before and had their BBQ chicken and it was a great value. So, we sat down outside and was greeted by a nice waiter who handed us menus. I asked about any lunch specials and he replied there were none. We asked about the BBQ chicken and he said they didn't have it any longer. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria which was very good. Got the bread and olives which are a nice touch. we asked for water and he brought 2 bottles of water and glasses which were fine. We split a seafood trio dish with shrimp, scallops and small lobster tail split into halves on a bed of pasta. The meal was good, not stupendous. But, when the bill came, we were charged for water. So, for lunch, we split a meal and paid $60+ with the tip (that pitcher of Sangria was a surprise at $23 but, my bad as I didn't check the price beforehand). I may be an old fart but, I thought restaurants had lunch specials to get people in during slow times. I know times are bad and trying to get back on track but charging for water, really? I read in another review they charged for bread on a take-out order, really? the bread is small and typical and just ok. I don't usually write scathing reviews but, just not impressed with the value for a lunch. read more

Visited on recommendation of a friend, came in a Friday for lunch, there was a 30 minute wait but I'm sure glad we waited. The food was amazing, authentic bbq Portuguese style. My chicken had the magic dipping sauce that you finish off with your bread. Pork ribs were seasoned perfect without any sauces. The homemade chips were worth the extra dollar. Waitresses are super nice, the place looks nice and clean and kinda new. This is what contributed to the starts i added however the food knocked them down a bit. I'm a portuguese girl and i've had my fair share of portuguese food, i don't expect it to be exactly how it is in portugal, however i've had way better just in Jersey. They started us off with the usual bread and butter and black olives which were great, but then we went to the entrees. We got the picadinho (in the picture) which wasn't horrible, i would say just it's just alright, it was kinda flavorless, i expected more from a portuguese restaurant. I personally got the famous and my favorite, bitoque (unfortunately i got too caught up and forgot to take the picture until the food looked unpresentable haha ). They always taste different everywhere you go so i like to see the different flavors and hope i can get a match for the ones in portugal. Here however, i felt kinda disappointed, probably the worse one i've ever had. The meat was dry and bland, the fries were okay a little too crispy so they didn't have much flavor, egg was okay a little dry, and the rice was absolutely horrible i'm not sure if i got a bad batch or what but it had a very funny taste to it and it was unbearable. And lastly, the important part which is the sauce, was alright not much flavor and they were stingy with it as well. i really wanted to like this place but the portuguese food should be what they excel at and unfortunately i left a bit disappointed with my dinner. read more

A few months back my husband and I were mighty lucky to be introduced to this restaurants by friends. Having spent 3+ weeks in Portugal, we both concur that this food is the real deal. My very favorite thing on their menu is the barbecued chicken. It is juicy and the skin is crispy with the most wonderful flavor imaginable for chicken. A heads up, they barbecue it throughout the day, and if you want to have some when you get there it's a good idea to call ahead and find out when it will be ready. Yum. Can't say enough good things about this cute little place. It serves yummy Portuguese food. If you have never had it, I would recommend this place. We ordered the BBQ chicken which just means grilled. It was perfected spiced but not spicy. All the food was that way. Expertly prepared, perfectly spiced so you just taste the food. If you want something a little more exotic, we tried the grilled octopus and it was great. We went back a couple nights later and ordered it all again. The service was great. They made us feel like family. I wish we lived closer. I have a feeling that we would become regulars. read more

Decided to try this place based on reviews. Ordered take out on Father's Day. They didn't have beef ribs which was a little disappointing because it was a regular menu item. So I decided to order a special, the rice with monkfish and my fiance had another special the shrimp Mozambique. Both were just ok. Mine was very bland and the fish was overcooked. Hers was 6 shrimp, heads on and split with garlic. We were totally expecting better, especially for the $. Maybe we will try them again and stick to the BBQ. read more

This is my absolute favorite local spot in Palm Coast especially because it is Portuguese and the BBQ chicken de casa is the best I've ever had. Even beats the places back in NJ! Staff is always super friendly. If you have never tried Portuguese BBQ you must try it at least once. Try the chicken or the ribs. This is not American style - no BBQ sauce. This is Portuguese style - packed with flavor & you will be licking your fingers. I also recommend the Kale Soup, the clams appetizer and the Portuguese sausage appetizer as well. Enjoy! read more

What a great experience!! The way they cook the chicken, on a fire pit with rotisserie baskets, keeps all the flavor and juices in. They have a nice selection of wine and beers. The service was extremely friendly and they seemed to work as a team quite well! I highly recommend this restaurant as the prices were reasonable and the portions ample.
