My family came here on Friday to celebrate my brothers birthday and had the best of times! The food was incredible (especially the grilled cheese dumpling, meatballs, short ribs, scallops) and service was kind, going above and beyond. Wow! This was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a while. The staff was incredible, drinks were fabulous, and food was top notch. For drinks, I got the Palm Reader and highly recommend. For food, you must try to truffle spaghettios, goat cheese balls, brussels. Also, Key Lime Pie for dessert was delicious! I popped in for a bite of brunch and of course, the decor struck me immediately. I sat at the bar, and was quickly greeted. The attention to detail (the bev naps, water coasters) before even ordering was definitely noticed. I ordered the avocado toast on a croissant with lobster and shrimp-it was massive and luxurious but still light. Robert took care of me and was a delight. The staff all checked in to ensure that everyone was enjoying their experience (it is as much of an experience for your eyes as it is for your taste buds). I can't wait to try dinner! Also-you can park in the lot on the first floor right next door. This is an enigma. Why does the owner of a highly rated restaurant insist on slapping on a extremely high fee for a reservation canceled two days in advance? I really wanted to dine here this Friday. Open Table informed me that I would be charged $100 for my party of four should I cancel after 5:00 afternoon. That's a hefty penalty for a table that will likely be easily filled subsequent to the cancellation. It's not like I anticipate cancelling. It's the owner's intent on gouging me if I did. I doubt that I will consider Palm Palm as long as this charge remains in effect. A few hours before I could live with but not 48 hours. read more

The first time here we only ordered small plates and drinks. Since I don't really drink, it was disappointing for this place to not have NA mocktails, given the overall vibe of the restaurant. We were shocked by the small portions. It was all we could talk about the drive home. The food wasn't quite warm and taste was just alright. I went for an event last evening and was floored. We had family style apps, a second course, entree, and desserts. The food was excellent, service outstanding. Jumped to a 5 star review instead of what would've been 3. I recommend getting an entree, there just simply isn't enough food for the price if you split the small plates. If you do only want small plates, go for a happy hour or night cap. Amazing experience at Palm Palm tonight. Between the excellent food and unique ambiance, it's no wonder this is Pittsburgh's hottest new restaurant. We had the melon salad- outstanding. Great combo of sweet fruit and a creamy goat cheese dressing. BBQ short ribs fell right off the bone. Tuna Tots combined superior sushi grade tuna with perfectly seasoned rice balls - great blend of hot and cold. Blue Fin Tuna is one of their larger plates and it was incredible. Service was excellent (TY Tori) and we were checked on multiple times by the managers and owners. This was one of the most pleasant dining experiences ever. What a fun night. TY so much! read more

What a great addition to the Pittsburgh restaurant scene. No matter if you are celebrating a special night or if you just want great food and service, there is never a bad time to go to Palm Palm. A location that has great parking in a fun neighborhood. From the moment you walk in the door you are welcomed by a team that has a great attention to details. Warm, welcoming and accommodating. The decor is as fun as the menu. I love the small plates. The variety is outstanding. The truffle spaghettios are not to be skipped. As is the Broccoli Caesar. We tried many dishes and I must say that there were no disappointments. I asked the manager for a tour of the private rooms, he graciously showed me around and took the time to point out the fun details hidden in the decor. They are perfect for small -medium groups. You would think that they would be loud. But one slide of the glass doors that over look the open kitchen and you cannot hear one thing. Watching the team cooking is part of the magic. Run don't walk! Palm Palm is a must go in my book. read more

My first impression, this restaurant is very handicapped accessible!!! If you park in the covered garage, take the elevator directly into the restaurant. Once in, the atmosphere is friendly and the staff is very pleasant and attentive. I ordered the bagel and lox which was excellent. I ended up taking half of it home for later. The coffee is great!! The Passionista cocktail was a perfect start. For our first visit we decided to explore the small plates - each one was worth the visit. Crab rangoon dip with crispy wontons, bbq short ribs, grilled cheese and tomato soup dumplings, deviled crab balls, chicken and burger sliders, and oysters rockefeller. The food was delicious and the portions served were ample. The food tasted quite flavor full. The staff treated us very well and our server "Brandi" was attentive and personable. The ambiance in the restaurant was spectacular! Take particular notice in the bar area ie. the chairs in the bar and the ceiling. The "vibe" makes you feel that you're glad you came. When our server Brandi had finished with our check and we were about to leave I gave her my "highest" compliment that I give about my first time visit to a restaurant. Today I visit this establishment for Sunday brunch with my girlfriend. This was our first visit. The young lady that greeted us was not very pleasant, but she warmed up later. Once seated we had one of the best servers ever her name was Diamond. She was such a joy and very personable. We enjoyed her authenticity and the way she cater to our needs. The food was awesome ass well . I'll give it a 4 1/2 out of 5. We will definitely be back, only if Diamond is our server. read more

Beautiful spot & I can see that they're aiming for upscale, but every dish felt like someone had a great idea with no idea how to execute it. We recently moved from CA so I was hopeful it would be on the level of the places we enjoyed in the Bay Area, but it was a letdown, especially for the price. We had oysters, shishito peppers, deviled crab fritters, and tuna steak with cocktails. Oysters and shishito peppers were both fine, but the crab fritters were tough instead of crispy outside and soft inside. They randomly sprinkled quinoa on them, which didn't make sense with the dish which desperately needed some additional texture and flavor. The tuna was well cooked but the accompanying sauce was very sweet, as was the rice. The cocktails were not great either, I had a margarita with green juice that just ended up tasting like a green smoothie and my husband had the Fire and Fresa which was overwhelmingly sweet rather than spicy. $150 later, we were still hungry and went to Kelly's for snacks. I was really hoping for a new local hangout but it feels like the whole restaurant was created for instagram rather than reality. The staff was all very nice, friendly and definitely hustling. Fun atmosphere but very noisy; we couldn't hear each other even at the bar. read more

All courses were delicious. The Tuna Sushi Tots were deconstructed sushi, excellent thought I would have liked a little more tuna. The Fat Crab and Corn Chowder might have been one of the best soups I've ever tasted. Each sip had distinct flavors of the ingredients, finishing with a little zing from the Chow Chow relish! Chef, you must put this chowder on the regular menu, or call me whenever you're going to make it! One of my Palm Palm favorites are the meatballs, served in an escargot type dish sitting in a tad of onion soup. I could order several of those to make up an entire dinner. The Sea Bass was perfectly cooked and seasoned. So tender and moist with a bit of a crusty topping. The taste and portion was worth every penny. Creme Brulee and Dark Desire desserts, fabulous ways to end the meal. The food was served hot, but nothing over cooked. Service by Sadie was great despite a crowd! read more

My Girl Posse and I are always looking for a new restaurant/bar for our next outing. Saw something on social media about this "new" restaurant Palm Palm. We booked the reservation while I had "reservations" myself on going to such a new place on the 8th day of the opening. Wellllllll Herky and company knocked this one right out of the park!!!! Two days prior to our plans I received a confirmation call on our reservation -- what a delighted detail! Walking in I got a complete sense of enchantment that brought back lots of memories from the 60's and 70's --- Yes, I'm the elderly lady within our group! From the front staff to the servers to the bar staff to the owner to the manager to the head chef --- it was beyond wonderful. We were all greeted with such grace and confidence! Extremely impressed by the wait staff with the knowledge of the menu and truly impressed by the complementary appetizer from Herky! Our table was extremely comfortable and spacious; us gals like to spread out with our purses and such! The drinks were just a tasty as they were pretty!!! We most all had decided to eat of the small plate side of the menu. .The presentation along with the taste was fantastic! Then came time for dessert --- us gals were ready! We each had something different they went beyond uniqueness. We were visited again by the Manager Kenvin and he was surprised none of us had ordered the Key Lime Pie nor the "Orange" Another surprise came out of the kitchen both of those desserts for us to try ----- After a wonderful meal, great drinks and even better conversation with my Posse --- we were treated to a complete tour of the restaurant --- everything from the story behind the art work, to the very organized and clean kitchen was brought to our attention. We all were in awe over the private dining areas, yet kind of felt the same way --- the main part of the restaurant and bar is where the action truly is. We then found ourselves getting ready to leave --- as we each had to go containers full of extra dessert -- we were given a post card --- YES that's what those born in the 60's and 70's did -- we sent postcards to our loved ones when we were away on a vacation. Once I got home that evening I sat down, collected my thoughts and wrote that card out to myself in remembrance of what a fantastic evening it was. I had high hopes, but to be honest, it was mediocre at best. I should preface this by saying Palm Springs, California is one of my favorite places and I travel there yearly. Other than the decor, it was a poor representation of the desert city. I was hoping for an intimate atmosphere, but, it was so overcrowded inside. It reminded me of the chaos of a food hall environment. It was so loud that you could not hear the company sitting at the table with you. The servers were confused and running food to the wrong tables. I had to flag them down for every item we ordered because they were wandering around aimlessly. You could also see that they were arguing amongst themselves. We ordered approximately 10 small plates. Plate presentation was on point. As for taste, none of the items were exceptional. I may be a food snob. For the regular Pittsburgh folk who have never left the area this restaurant may be all of the rage. Also, the bathroom was out of toilet paper. I know it's the first week and many kinks will need to be worked out. In my personal opinion, Palm Palm had the potential but missed the mark. read more
