We got: Kimchi fried rice, Shishito peppers, Roasted Carrots, Short rib BBQ, Sweet corn Taquito, Wagu Ragu, Shrimp Ceviche. Every single thing was phenomenal, aside from the ceviche (this was very dry). Otherwise every other dish was packed with flavor and mouth watering. Drinks- the cocktail menu is so good it was hard to choose. Everything we ordered was tasty. The bar area is super cute would definitely recommend this place even for just drinks. I had a fabulous time at Palm Palm!! I went with 5 friends and we shared a bunch of the shared plates as well as several desserts and everything we tried was delicious! I was also super happy with the amount that I spent in comparison to the amount of food that I got and it was so much fun to try a bunch of different things. The whole vibe was so fun and summery, it was an amazing place to spend an otherwise uneventful summer Monday evening. Our server Charae was phenomenal. She was incredibly attentive as well as super fun. She offered to take several pictures of our group and also brought postcards and matches for all of us to take home. This spot was great! First I will suggest making a reservation - I went on a Thursday and it got full fast. The staff was amazing! Our waitress was so kind and attentive, plus two managers came over to check on us and make sure we had a good experience. We were sat right up front by the entrance, so I didn't feel like I got to explore the place, but from what I saw it was adorable and so trendy. I got the lychee coconut homemade soda for my non-alcoholic beverage and it was delicious! Then we got the regular (non-truffle) French fries that had so much flavor. I chose the grilled cheese dumplings and the truffle spaghetti-o's, and honestly both small plates exceeded my expectations! I was also surprised that I was full afterwards, which was good. We finished off by splitting the chocolate cake and wowwwwwww it was so delightful! The mousse was so light and fluffy, some of the best I've had in a long time. I had a very enjoyable experience at Palm Palm. I went for my birthday dinner around 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon. We were a party of 6. We were greeted warmly and sat a beautiful table right away. The vibe there was immaculate, beautiful lighting, and furniture. We all collectively ordered many things from the menu. From being able to sample most of the menu, I give the food a 3/5. Some of things were just very under seasoned or overly seasoned. My favorite, by far, were the truffle spaghettios. I would return again just to have these. We also had the Caesar salad, the truffle fries, French onion meatballs, seafood skewers and Brussels sprouts. The meatballs were not a hit for our group. We let the server know and he allowed my guests to order something else. The manager also came to speak to our table to see how they could better the meatballs. I LOVED the service and attention to making things better. The seafood skewers were fantastic for the first few bites but were too heavily seasoned. It made it hard to get through these. I was finally able to get a reservation here on a friday night! They are always busy so definitely book your reservations early! This restaurant is located in East Liberty, sort of under/next to the parking structure near the market district. So there is the parking lot which is great. I will say I didn't love the ambiance in there. The lighting was weird and was my main issue. I see what they are going for but it felt weird to me. It was also quite loud as others have noted. Our service was good. We ordered some cocktails (both were very good). Then we ordered quite a mix of small plates and one large plate to try. Overall everything was quite tasty (albiet on the slightly pricier side). We tried Bruleed oranges (from Ritual House, I love these but they are on the sweeter side), Street corn taquitos (they were just meh), Roasted carrots (good), Truffle fries (obsessed- love that they serve the little truffle oil on the side to add as you like), Caesar salad (very good, what you'd expect), Grilled cheese and tomato soup dumplings (tasty and cool to try at least once), Truffle spaghetti's (YUMMM - if you like truffle this was fabulous), Waygu meatballs with french onion and gruyere (surprisingly good), New Orleans oysters (good if you like oysters), and lastly the short rib (was very good but we were so full so had to take most of it home). I can't give high marks to a place where the food doesn't taste good but it's worth a try to see if your palate might disagree with mine, given the potential. Last night my "going out to eat club" went to Palm Palm. We could not have been more pleased! We did have an early reservation and it initally was not crowded but the server was excellent! She even took us through the kitchen to show us the dessert selection. In case you were wondering the kitchen was immaculate and well organized. We had some craft cocktails I do not recall the names but mine had blackberries in it and was great. Then we proceeded to go though most of the small plate menu. What I liked was they were fine with us ordering one or two dishes at a time. The plates were cleared and replaced promptly. We had the meatballs, crab fritters, oysters, lettuce wraps and the spaghetti o's and the lobster rolls. I honestly could not tell you what I liked the most. For dessert we had the almond torte and dark desire. Both desserts could easily serve 3-4. We will be back! read more

Honest review of the most hyped restaurant in Pittsburgh right now... Vibes inside and outside are so great. Super chic, very fun, lively colors, and the bar is beautiful. Of course, the girls and I ordered a bunch of things- the mini lobster rolls, the tuna, the tomato and soup dumplings, the kimchi fried rice, the Cacio E Pepe pasta, and the Brussel sprouts. Surprisingly, the best two dishes were the kimchi fried rice and the Cacio E Pepe pasta. They were both so flavorful and very very well done. I was most excited for the mini lobster rolls, but honestly, they were so small and there was just so much bread. It was fun to order, but I'm not sure how worth it it is. In general, all the food was very tasty, but none of it was anything exceptional or out of this world. I think the restaurant focuses on making a bunch of different items to provide variety instead of providing phenomenal food, but again I'm not saying it wasn't good. The drinks were all on the sweeter side as an FYI. And our waiter was honestly not great. She kind of seemed pissed the whole time. Some things that are on the menu are not currently available. The waiter explained to us that Palm Palm encourages us to get multiple small plates and share and then get big plates and share. The portions are so small, it's really not a shareable size (small plates and large plates). We got 5 small plates and 2 large plates. We were not impressed with the food. I also tried two cocktails and they were not something i would get again. Needless to say after paying over $250 we left hungry. Service- The only stars I gave were for the service, which was great. Really fun menu with some new, creative options that you won't see elsewhere in Pittsburgh! Pros: - Cocktails were all great - Bone marrow tartare was beyond fabulous - grilled cheese & tomato soup dumplings were comforting and delicious Room for improvement: - our party had a peanut / tree nut allergy. Upon entering, the hostess had a king size pack of Reece's cups on the stand touching every menu as she sat people. YIKES! - nothing on the menu is marked for allergens. Some things may list an ingredient like pistachio or hazelnut as a main ingredient, but not for allergen purposes. - multiple people delivered small plates to our table and waited for us to rearrange our empty previous plates so they could set down new plates and then walked away without clearing anything. I basically had to bus, and stack plates to be able to continue to order. - bar drinks...we were told they couldn't accommodate allergies because the cocktails are pre-made in batches (oregat in one of the drinks) but they took 10-15+ minutes as premade cocktails and we had to ask for one of them twice and didn't ever receive another drink we ordered and just gave up. This place is getting a lot of hype right now, but I do think there is room for improvement. First off, this place is an entire vibe - super Instagram-worthy with the interior design and tons of natural lighting. For that alone, it's worth trying one of their delicious and unique cocktails. Our server was attentive and made sure to keep our drinks filled. We had to ask for silverware initially, but then it was replaced as we worked through our dishes. The pacing of the meal was a little off - small plates came out 1 or 2 at a time, but then also with our large plate, which eventually got cold as we were still working on the small plates. Overall, the food was delicious and quite creative. We really enjoyed the mini lobster rolls, sushi tots, and truffled spaghetti-o's. The carrots were overcooked but still flavorful. The brussel sprouts were roasted perfectly, but unfortunately some of the stalk was left on the ends of a few (ouch). Food - was decent. I went for brunch and ordered the open faced white omelet with spinach, tomatoes, and burrata. The egg whites and spinach were plenty. But a sad lack of tomatoes and shockingly no burrata. The server did bring it after I said something. The server recommended the $7 house made biscuit. It came with butter and jam. It was a savory biscuit though (cheese and chives) so it clashed with the jam. The biscuit was large but dry. I liked the oranges but again for $14 for 2 oranges and sugar it's not quite worth the splurge (make it at home). Everything was overpriced for what it was, but unfortunately that's the trend. Service - service was fine. The server took my order and left before taking my friend's order so we had to call her back. Food came out pretty quickly and mostly correct. A manager checked in with us. Ambiance - it's a beautiful space, they put a lot of work into it. It was not overly packed but had a decent amount of guests. Not sure if the dead succulent on the table was a choice or neglect... Overall, I didn't love a recommendation for a dry overpriced biscuit and the missing burrata, which is the star of any dish (it goes without saying). I visited Palm Palm on 7/8 (a couple days after they opened). I previously made a reservation online. Upon arrival, we were asked if we wanted to be seated inside or out. I didn't realize Palm Palm would offer outdoor seating so that was a pleasant surprise. The rest of my party wanted to sit indoors, so we did. For this place just opening, I was surprised it wasn't wall to wall crowded. I was definitely relieved though because I enjoyed the experience more. I ordered the Palm Palm Margarita which had tequila, Cointreau, agave, lime, and sweet greens. It's an interesting take on a margarita but it worked! My mom ordered the ginger lemon soda and liked it but said it wasn't worth the price ($9). Our table ordered a slew of small plates. We tried: the tuna taco, shishito peppers, oysters Rockefeller, pommes frites & caviar, roasted broccoli caesar, deviled crab fritters, and the guac. Everything tasted great and was presented beautifully! I'm not sure if I can pinpoint which item was my favorite. I'm excited to visit Palm Palm again. The food was all very good, same with the drinks but the service was extremely slow. 20 minutes for one drink, some not even arriving to the table until 40 mins later. The manager apologized and brought out an appetizer to share which I thought was a nice touch. Right away we noticed that service was excellent and very attentive! Our server was very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. The space is absolutely stunning, with a mix of art deco elegance and flamboyant feathers and bright colors mixed with gold leaf coatings. It really captures a feeling of Palm Springs by way of Miami! We decided to sample a lot of small plates in lieu of large entrees. This was the way to go! We sampled shrimp ceviche, fried calamari, spicy tuna and rice "tots", deviled crab fritters, street corn taquitos, fried goat cheese, pommes frites with caviar, and truffle spaghetti-o's. Not a bad bite in the bunch! For dessert we shared the panna cotta and individual macarons, the former of which had a lovely vanilla and coconut flavor with mango topping. I also tried the Fire and Freza cocktail, which was SO good and interesting! It had mezcal and strawberries and peppers, and it packed a punch. For dinner entree I had the Chicken Parm Parm which was a very large portioned plate (definitely getting your moneys worth) and it tasted mouth watering- amazing. The sauce they pour on top and the Parmesan crust was - chefs kiss!!! Above all the service was truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. Our server, Maddie, was so incredible. She was so informative about the menu and entrees and very descriptive which was so helpful! She was also very attentive and we never had empty drinks or empty plates sitting for long. They are really on top of their game here! We also had a small delay in getting my meal in a group of 5 because the kitchen missed it but had it out within 10 minutes of everyone else's food. They immediately brought the mistake to our attention followed by the general manager bringing out my plate and let me know the entree would no longer be charged to the bill for having to wait a few extra minutes. Overall: a nice place to try, but I'm not sure I'd return.I came for brunch. The food's flavor profile is unremarkable but still good, nothing especially bad or notable. Service was typical. This is an honest three-star review. I'm leading with design, because that was the biggest pro and con for me. The decorating was done better than most places in the city, but in some cases there was a severe disconnect between appearance and functionality. The chandeliers were real inlay and the tile work was beautiful. I was happy to see bar seats with supportive backs, but then realized the stools couldn't move closer to the bar, so I wouldn't be able to actually lean back while eating like I'd hoped. The room was so loud I was nearly in tears and was going to quietly leave without ordering if I couldn't transfer to outside. Luckily I was able to be moved to a table outside, which was nicely decorated with plants and well shaded. The attention to aesthetic detail extended to the bathrooms, which rank in the top five of any restaurant I've been to in the city. The food was good but not remarkable, and seemed to emphasize appearance over flavor. Most of it feels like a gag for Instagram posts. Prices ran about 15 to 25% higher than I felt they should, and I wish there were lower-tier options. To be clear, I regularly eat at places where a meal for one runs $60 or more, so this is about the value I felt I got, not the price itself. Many items landed at either $12-15 or $28+, with obvious room for something in between. The Wagyu steak breakfast, for example, had no lower-cost cut like a standard skirt steak. Fries are $14. Yes, they arrive in a cool container and have the truffle gimmick going on, but it's a bit ridiculous. Even pretty standard cocktails were $16, when I'd expect more like $12 to 14, and if that means dropping the extra orchid garnish, then sure. The passion fruit used in our drinks was not ripe, so it was much more bitter than typical. Some dishes just weren't good, like the side sausages. If the bacon were $2 to 5 cheaper without the weird hanging display, I might actually order it. To sum up: it's fine, but nothing I'd go out of my way for, and I wouldn't feel excited if someone else picked it. Places that charge this much usually have a quieter atmosphere. The sophisticated base design is there, but the food is meh. Balvanera has the same design feel and is also too loud, but at least the food is worth returning for. read more

Really enjoyed the goat cheese fritters, melon salad, grilled cheese dumplings with tomato soup, truffle spaghettios and crab fritters. Passionista and "Ginny in the bottle" cocktails were perfectly balanced. Coconut shrimp with accompanying sauces was worth getting seconds! Branzino fish entree was very creative with roasting then crisping. "Dark desire" and "the orange" were perfect ends to the incredible meal. This place looks gorgeous. I was never in the brewery the previously inhabited the space which I regret, because I bet the transformation was robust. I think it looks great! The service was great. I was served by a trainer/trainee combo and they were both very nice. The food was decent, but not amazing, with some items much better than the others. We did order small plates only. The lettuce wraps were great, the beef had a lot of flavor. The seafood skewers were decent but not amazing. I had the tuna sushi balls, and they were the biggest disappointment. They weren't bad, but they were very lackluster. My wife had the taquitos which she said were her favorite part. The bone marrow I think was the highlight, it was very well prepared. The cucumber salad was kinda boring, but again not bad. We didn't' have any large plates. I think the selection was kind of boring.
