Kefta Kebab Plate w/ rice, hummus, tzatziki, pita, sumac onions, pickled turnips ($18.99) + Sauces: Toum + Habibi (99 cents ea.)

3.5 STARS On a budget? Habibi Falafel got you! At this Palestinian fast-casual resto, everything is under $20 AND portions are generous so you can stretch it to two meals. * Kefta Kebab Plate w/ rice, hummus, tzatziki, pita, sumac onions, pickled turnips ($18.99): https://tinyurl.com/227cw28z - Sub tabbouleh for tzatziki - Add Sauces: Toum + Habibi (99 cents ea.) Loved the plating, vibrant colors, and variety on the plate! Everything was delicious except the main character. - Kefta kebab: Ehhhh, tasted like unseasoned beef, very dry. - Hummus: Smooth and creamy with a pleasant earthy flavor. - Tzatziki: Fresh, creamy, and tangy. I like that it wasn't runny. - Rice: Perfectly cooked, fluffy with separated grains. - Pita: Warm, thick, and chewy. - Sumac onions + pickled turnips: Fresh, crunchy tangy in-between bites. - Toum: Too mild, I like toum that's garlicky and makes your breath hum. - Habibi: Creamy, cilantro based sauce. Service was cordial and prompt. One thing that didn't sit right with me - a courier waiting for an order, asked to use the restroom and was denied. He explained that he really needed to go, and the staff told him he could only use it if he bought something. The business may have their reasons but it was a weekday and they weren't busy. The ironic part is that now the customer's delivery is going to be delayed because the courier has to find a public restroom which isn't easy in the city.

I like everything on the menu. The bowls with salad are good for something filling but light. I always get all the sauces. My favorite is their spicy sauce. The sandwiches and plates are a lot of food, it's generous and reasonably priced. There are only about 5 tables so if it's busy it's harder to find seating. I love getting a table by the window and being about to look out at Divisadero. There are a couple of tables outside as well but it's usually too cold for that. During lunch it's really busy. A lot of medical workers frequent the place probably because it's right down the street from UCSF Mt. Zion.

Big, nicely organized (and easy to understand) menu

Years ago I visited The Halal Guys NYC food cart and learned quickly that the food - which I liked a lot - was intended for fast consumption. It was a version of fast food and, consistent with that genre, did not improve upon being reheated later. I mention Halal Guys only as a vague comparison to what is offered here at Habibi Falafel. They are both downright delicious and, with all of the saucy toppings, similar in taste, but what struck me at Habibi is how fresh and light the offerings were, consistent with the shop itself, which is definitely not a fast food joint. It's clear that someone in charge has a clean and organized vision which plays out not just in their eye-catching outdoor signage but also inside, where the overhead menu is easy to understand and fresh ingredients are maintained in an eye-catching display. Opting for the "build your own bowl" ($15.99) I picked my base (1/2 rice, 1/2 salad), my protein (1/2 chicken shawarma, 1/2 falafel), my toppings (all the free stuff: tomatoes, sumac onions, white onions, cukes, pickles, pickled turnips, and pickled red cabbage), then went all in with all the free sauces (tahini, garlic, Shatta, and Habibi). Your order can include other proteins and other toppings for a small additional fee but I'm here to report that's entirely unnecessary. This was a glorious, fresh platter of food. I consumed every last bit. Aside from it being a bit chilly inside, the shop proved itself to be a wonderful place from which to savor their equally great offerings. Staff were welcoming and I was happy to have my order served not in a box, but on a plate, and eaten with a metal fork. So stay a bit and savor what's being offered here. I'm certain it tastes great later, but why wait? 100% delicious.

    Chicken shawarma and shawarma plate

Visiting the The City for the evening and we were quite lucky to find this gem. Friendly staff and a small very clean environment. But the food was fantastic. I had a chicken shawarma on pita and my friend had a combo plate. Flavorful!!!! But the little secret was the Turkish delight. A little desert with marshmallow, and a chewy candy piece in the center and topped with rose petals. So pretty and surprisingly "delightful." And the meal was a delightful price as well. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Standard meterranian menu, done well. This time I got their lentil soup - it's smooth and topped with fried onions. They have Turkish delight and Turkish coffee!

I found this spot through yelp and it was an amazing experience. It is a casual dine in with plenty of seats and outdoor views. They have good food options including Dubai Chocolate Strawberry cups, turkish delights, baklava and cakes. We ordered the dolmas, chicken shawarma and falafel sandwiches and it was filled with pickles, pickled turnips and many other toppings. The lady even cleaned up for us and took our trash. Excellent customer service and definitely coming back!!!

    Two 2-tops outside.

Cashier parallel parks like a boss! And she's super friendly. Shawarma was grubbing. Chicken tender, radishes hard, rice flavorful. I'm a sauce girl and garlic sauce was a little water so not "Pow" of flavor like I was hoping for. 2 tables (2-tops) outside as well as inside seating. Clean and real utensils! Coke products! Fast.

    Chicken bowl

We got the chicken bowl! We added hummus which was good and our favorite part. The portions were generous and the service was fast and nice! The only thing was the whole meal was drenched in sauce and there wasn't enough chicken on our plate.

    Bowl with chicken & falafel

Absolutely unreal bowl. This thing is highly customizable. Rice or lettuce or both, chicken or falafel or both, and all the toppings and sauces you could want piled in to one of the biggest take out containers I've ever seen. This is serious quantity of food. I'm stuff and will have lunch tomorrow . Flavors are quite amazing, very well done falafel. Recommend for takeout, staff is a little cold.

Kofta plate. I asked nicely to try the falafel, generally not included

This place popped up within the last year or so and is clearly a hit with all the nearby hospital workers. The vibes say "quick lunch," but your wallet may whisper "treat yourself." We ordered the Kofta kebab plate to split, plus one iced tea, and walked out $25 lighter. The good news? The kofta was totally worth writing home about; perfectly spiced, juicy, and tender. The pita? Soft, fluffy, and clearly made with love... although I would have loved a whole one instead of the half that came with the plate. Come on, we're splitting here. I very sweetly asked if I could try just one falafel before committing, and the cashier kindly obliged. Let's just say I was glad I didn't commit. The falafel was tiny and lacked the bold flavor I live for. If falafel is your thing, I'd steer you a few blocks over to House of Hummus across from Target. Their falafel is legit!! herby, crispy, and satisfying. But if kofta is your craving and your budget is feeling generous, this spot will definitely deliver the goods

I was in the neighborhood running an errand and found myself starving afterward! I looked online and decided to give Habibi Falafel a try. When I arrived, a young lady, whom I assumed was the owner, took my order. I was unsure whether to get a falafel sandwich or shawarma, so I asked her what her favorite was. She recommended the chicken shawarma, so I decided to go with that. The sandwich was filled with tasty chicken and vegetables (I requested all the usual vegetables!). While I was waiting for my sandwich, I looked around. The place is small but very new and clean, with about six tables available. They provide good service if you decide to eat there, which I did. The sandwich was both filling and delicious. After finishing it, I noticed their pistachio Turkish delight, so I ordered one along with a cup of black tea. I don't typically have a sweet tooth, but the Turkish delight hit the spot on that day! A young man was working behind the counter in the kitchen and efficiently handled the orders as they came in, either by phone or in person. If you're in the area and looking for some Mediterranean or Middle Eastern sandwiches or plates, Habibi Falafel is a great choice!

Still solid. Friendly and accommodating staff. Chill place to stop and grab a delicious, balanced meal.

This place is delicious. Portion sizes are very good and the price is decent. I go with the build your own bowl: mixed salad/rice, chicken shawarma with all the free toppings and the mixture of the cilantro, tzatziki and spicy sauce. So good! I always take it to go and I'm usually in and out within 5 minutes. Would recommend!

I never get a chance to take a photo because I almost always dig right in! Packed with flavor, freshness and I'll say again FLAVOR !

There's nothing quite like tearing into a warm pita while catching some rays on the sidewalk. ### The Food The "delicacies" here are the real deal: * **Hummus:** Incredibly smooth and rich. It's clearly the star of the show. * **Babaganoush:** Perfectly smoky and creamy. * **Falafel:** Crispy on the outside, vibrant green and fluffy on the inside--just how it should be. * **Pita:** Hands down some of the best in the city. It arrives warm, pillowy, and fresh. * **Salads:** Don't sleep on the sides. The Israeli salad and cabbage are crisp, fresh, and provide that necessary acidic bite to cut through the rich tahini and hummus. **Verdict:** Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or lingering over a spread of small plates outside, this place delivers. High-quality, authentic flavors with a great community vibe. Definitely a staple in my SF rotation.

Samir's bread was spiced very well and had a nice chewy airy texture to it. I would say it tastes just as it looks! The musakhan was fantastic, I've never had anything like it. Mogannam did a complete rebrand from an American burger restaurant to a fast-casual "Arabic comfort food" establishment that's named in honor of his mother and features her scratch-made recipes. To say it's a success is an understatement, as they've been named one of the best restaurants in SF not just by the Chronicle, but even made the NY Times' "The 25 Best Restaurants in San Francisco Right Now." After one visit, it's clear to see why. The Good: * Yelp Waitlist available * Bus stop right outside the door * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Fast-casual order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. * Service was friendly and efficient. * Palestinian and Jordanian beers in bottles! I didn't even know that was a thing. * Falafel were about 98.753% like my mom's. In a word: delicious. * Musakhan was phenomenal. The chicken was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and the sumac-onion "relish" was spot on. Get this. * Handmade pita bread was delicious. * Carissa enjoyed her Shish Tawook plate, as they were smart again and used chicken thighs which kept the well-seasoned meat nice and juicy. The concomitant hummus was fantastic, and the "Mom's Rice" was fuhgeddaboudit good. She did think the chicken could've used an extra thirty seconds on the grill to firm up the meat just a touch, but otherwise it was perfect. The Meh: * The Fattoush salad was just OK. It was overdressed and needed more dates that were cut into smaller pieces so that you get more of it in each bite to help offset the vinegar. The Ugly: * Parking here is a real hassle, as it's street parking only and it's all neighborhoods. So, be prepared to drive around endlessly looking for an opening. Conclusion: Best Palestinian food outside of me mum's kitchen. The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good.
