    Everything Calzone
    Till W.

It's a small place but it has a claw machine and some candy machines that are good for entertaining the kids. They have calzones here, which is a bonus! The portions are nice and big! I couldn't finish my Italian Sandwich and saved the other half for later. They had a lunch special for a small pizza that was big enough to feed 2 kids.

xl pizza without the palo crust I ordered

the pizza is good when you actually get what you order. I do not recommend delivery since they often forget to put things I've ordered on my pizza and since it's delivery they won't actually do anything to fix their mistakes. ordering pick up and checking the pizza before you leave is very important since they are bad at making pizza to spec. there have been countless pizzas I've gotten where they forgot one of my toppings or forgot my palo crust or both. how is that ok? only order pick up from this location. the manager refused to fix my pizza that they messed up and said they would make sure to make my order correctly next time. not worth it for delivery

    pepperoni and cheese pizza

Sadly my first time trying Palo Mesa Pizza. Bought the pepperoni pizza for my husbands Stanley Cup play off evening. Normally I'd give a second chance but found my burned pizza inexcusable. Not busy on Sunday evening at 5:30 PM. If I lived closer this would have gone back and I've never returned a pizza before. Sorry Palo Mesa.. Gordon Ramsey would be using choice expletives if he paid $25 for this sad Burnt Pizza! One star deserved because this Pizza was recommended by others. Do yourself a favor Palo Mesa and quality control your product before sending the box out the door! I actually thought my husband would eat any pizza but even he rejected it. With plenty of quality Pizza competition nearby I will not be going back to Palo Mesa.

The pepperoni is so good here and the sauce is pretty tasty as well. One of the top pizzerias in San Luis Obispo.

Pizzas were ready for my pickup at the appointed time. Gluten free and regular crust pizzas were both great. Generous toppings.

I was directed by some young men to check out a spot and when I did I realized it was your late night drunk pizza slice joint. Not what I wanted so I left there empty handed too. I was defeated and starving and was considering walking back to my hotel and door dashing junk when all of a sudden, a girl turns the corner of the block I'm standing at with a pizza box in her hands. I said "Yo girl where did you get that pizza from and are they still open!?" She said, "Antonia's and yes!" I told her I tried getting there before but my maps got me lost and she told me it was down by the Barnes and Noble, hidden from the street, which makes sense why I didn't see it on the main drag. So in I go, it's small, it's cute, it looks like people are making magic happen in the back. I am greeted by the owner of the place and I told him I wanted to order some pizza. I definitely came to the right place. They had a personal pizza, exactly what I wanted and so many options! I made small talk with the guy, told him I was from New York and he insisted I come back to let him know what I thought and then told me his pizza is very different from New York Pizza. So this is me coming back to tell you what I thought. You rock and your pizza ROCKS. I had trouble deciding which to get and he guided me. I went with the Margherita despite him telling me it was simple and straightforward. That's exactly what I wanted. He told me to get the SLO crust, which was a house made crust seasoned with herbs and spices, oregano and garlic, he insisted it had the most flavor the one I should go with, so I did. They had SO many crust options and pizza options like: meat lovers, Hawaiian, veggie, greek, mediterranean, bbq chicken and many more. I also ordered sweet potatoe fries which is so wild for me because I never do that but I was on vacation and this place gave me happy good vibes. He said it would be about 20 minutes so I took a walk and when I came back it was ready and like $35. Woof. I thought that was expensive kind of but also I ordered a pizza to myself and fries so I was just really hoping it was worth it. Spoiler alert: it was SO WORTH IT. I got back to my hotel, took the pizza and sweet potato fries and garlic sauce on the side went out onto my balcony and was in absolute vacation heaven. The pizza WAS SO GOOD and SO different. It was unlike any pizza I had ever had before and so not my style but I loved it. The crust was soft but thick and fluffy but also had crunch, the flavors were insane and the fresh basil on top delish. This was a specialty pizza place exactly what I wanted. The sweet potato fries were stupid. Probably the best sweet potatoes fries I have ever had. I am so glad that random girl turned the corner with the pizza box when she did. And this place is OPEN TIL 2 AM. Quality quality place. I hope this guy kills it, everyone go here.

The Italian baguette sandwich is a must. It is so flavorful and perfectly done. The beet salad was fresh, delicious, and a great complement to the meal. We truly love sitting at the bar here. We had our dog with us, and when we stopped in during the afternoon while walking around downtown, the hostess was incredibly pleasant and helpful. She was tall with dark hair and gave us a great recommendation on what time to come back for dinner before things got too busy. We really appreciated how welcoming she was. We came back later that evening and checked in for a table. The hostess working then, who had short brown hair, told us the wait would be about an hour, so we decided to wait. We walked around with our dog and came back to check on our table. When I asked about the wait, she told me in what felt like a very condescending and dismissive tone that we had about 45 minutes left. I mentioned that it had already been about 30 minutes, and she then corrected herself. I completely understand that restaurants get busy and that working a busy dinner shift can be stressful, but there's still a way to communicate with customers without making them feel like an inconvenience. Our table was eventually ready, and we were taken through an alley to the back patio with our dog. Unfortunately, there wasn't much interaction or warmth during that process--no "How is your evening?" or anything that made us feel particularly welcomed. That being said, the food itself was good, and our server was fine. The service was a little slow, but the restaurant was extremely busy, so I think they may simply need additional staff to keep up with the volume. We noticed people who arrived after us were we're going to have a two hour wait. Personally, I wouldn't wait that long. Overall, the food was good and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but the customer service and extremely long wait took away from what was supposed to be a special anniversary evening. I think there is definitely room for improvement in how guests are treated while they're waiting.

The swordfish and burger is really all I return for. Service is weird. It's always incredibly minimal, zero conversation, and in my recent visit our server never even looked at us, just out the window. The place is rather empty most the time, which isn't always bad, but I assume since it isn't busy, the server would check in on my table a bit more intentionally than be loitering around chatting with coworkers across the way where I can see. I'll probably just order the food over at Region (which is incredible) and skip the mediocre experiences that are becoming commonplace at Piadina.

We ended up pre-ordering online the night before and we got the Loaded Veg pizza. All they sell are whole 16" pies, which I don't mind since Pizza is my 3rd favorite food (behind sushi and Japanese bbq). I don't usually get veggie pizzas for 2 reasons. First of all, I love meat. Second, vegetables on pizza usually are mushy and don't taste fresh. I got it because my gf is pescatarian so it seemed like a good choice for both of us to share. I've had pizza at several notable places (thinking of Ceres NYC, Pizzeria Sei LA, Quarter Sheets LA, etc.). They brought the pizza box out to me, and I took a glance inside and knew I was about to feast. I didn't want to wait to get back to the hotel so my gf and I just sat in my trunk and ate it. There are very few restaurants where the first bite of food takes my breath away. I sat there in silence and proceeded to finish the whole slice in a matter of seconds while my gf and I just nodded with major satisfaction at one another. The dough was incredible (light, thin, crispy). The sauce and cheese ratio was perfect, not too overpowering, not too much, just the right amount as a base and glue to hold the toppings in place. The toppings (the veg), were fresh, vibrant, flavorful, purposeful. Everything was exploding with flavor, it was so simple, but so incredible. I wanted to run back inside and order another pizza but they were closing and I felt bad. We got a side of vegan ranch, it had fresh herbs and tasted so creamy, thick, and tangy despite being vegan. We demolished that pizza and the only thought I kept having was how much I wanted another one. The store is super cool, great music, cool lighting and vibes. The people are super polite, friendly, and professional. It legit felt like every single person in that place was happy to be there. More importantly, I think they were so passionate and saw their pizza creations as art. I would dream and aspire to have a place like this myself one day. I'm so sad this is so far away from OC (where I'm visiting from) because I genuinely want to eat this every week. I'll just have to drive up lol. Cheers to the team here, incredible work. You made my day. You gave me the opportunity to try the best thin slice pizza of my life thus far.
