Oh my, would nit get Pizza from SLO Ranch location again. We had gone by earlier and saw a pizza that looked good, on paper. The Maiale, so I ordered one later that afternoon. There is only 1 size 12", 6 pieces. There was hardly any toppings on it. Supposed to have crushed tomatoes, basil about 6 small pieces, pepperoni and sausage, a few scatted on the pizza. Not much flavor and by the time we got home 15 minutes, it was cold. I arrived when they told me to. Then when you pay up comes 20% etc, for just handling me a pizza. The pizza was about $25 and I gave a $4 tip. Sorry will not be back. read more

My wife and I live about a mile from this location on S. Higuera and had never had the opportunity to order from it, but were always curious. We ordered a medium pizza and cheese bread for pick up to-go from Palo Mesa and were both pleasantly surprised. The turnaround time was fast, the staff was friendly, and both the pizza/cheese bread were tasty. We see this is a relatively budget conscious ($30 total for 2 people) and easy go-to pizza spot going forward that offers a great family style pizza. The pizza dough was slightly chewy with a crunch and made the pizza. Their ranch and palo mesa marinara sauce were super tasty as well. Looking forward to finding spots to patronize this location again with its proximity to our house. This location is under the radar, has easy free parking, and seems to be super efficient with takeout orders. Great work PM team! This is a first! Apparently, they cook their pastas over hot water. They receive their pasta frozen. I've never heard about this way to cook pastas in my entire life. Not to mention frozen pasta? East coast joints would pull their hair out hearing this. read more

It pains me to write this as a New York friend told me this was his favorite pizza. The portion of the pie with the sauce and cheese was, indeed, excellent--hence the reason I'm not giving it a -1-. The problem was that the crust was essentially as much as the pie. I'm not sure if this is their style or it was the style of the particular person who made it. I ordered an entire Margarita pie, their least expensive. It was $18+ and it was no more filling than many single slices I've had. (And I've been a pizza aficionado for nearly 70 years and have had them all over the world.) This qualifies as perhaps the worst value of them all. It took me just a few polite bites to consume it. It's a small place but it has a claw machine and some candy machines that are good for entertaining the kids. They have calzones here, which is a bonus! The portions are nice and big! the pizza is good when you actually get what you order. I do not recommend delivery since they often forget to put things I've ordered on my pizza and since it's delivery they won't actually do anything to fix their mistakes. ordering pick up and checking the pizza before you leave is very important since they are bad at making pizza to spec. there have been countless pizzas I've gotten where they forgot one of my toppings or forgot my palo crust or both. how is that ok? only order pick up from this location. the manager refused to fix my pizza that they messed up and said they would make sure to make my order correctly next time. not worth it for delivery read more

Sadly my first time trying Palo Mesa Pizza. Bought the pepperoni pizza for my husbands Stanley Cup play off evening. Normally I'd give a second chance but found my burned pizza inexcusable. Not busy on Sunday evening at 5:30 PM. If I lived closer this would have gone back and I've never returned a pizza before. Sorry Palo Mesa.. Gordon Ramsey would be using choice expletives if he paid $25 for this sad Burnt Pizza! One star deserved because this Pizza was recommended by others. Do yourself a favor Palo Mesa and quality control your product before sending the box out the door! I actually thought my husband would eat any pizza but even he rejected it. We ordered delivery to our hotel which was nice, but we waited over an hour and the pizza was cold. Luckily, pizza is one of those foods that still good cold. We ordered a pepperoni with cheese, but there was barely any cheese so that was a bit disappointing. Don't worry, we found the cheese. It was drowning the Caesar salad. Review on Palo Mesa III in SLO: We've been three times in the last couple of months to keep giving it a try, hoping we've just been on bad days/nights. However, every time, the ambiance is soooo uncomfortable- no music, no TV, just silence and road noise. Even the staff seems to either not talk or whisper to one another. It feels like they only want you to do to-go orders (although there are picnic tables inside-- not many, but enough to visually say, "Take a seat! Stay a while!" Then, in complete silence, they deliver your "for here" pizza in a to-go box!! What the what?! I would NEVER take family or friends there! Ever!!! I'd be so embarrassed! The pizza is very good (not the Thai one, though- not good at all), but what good is having a yummy pizza place if you can't go there, sit back, relax, have a pitcher of beer (which they DO NOT HAVE, btw-- only bottles-- boo!!! Another sign that they don't want you to stay) and enjoy time with family and friends?? Someone needs to rethink their choices regarding that location. Truly the most bizarre experience for a pizza place. Or, if they truly don't want customers to stay, call it a take-out joint, offer a few chairs for waiting, and leave it at that. First of all, the pizza is amazing! We love the crust and the tasty sauce. We have been there before and decided to try it again when we went to visit our kids in SLO. It was extremely busy but the owner was doing his best to keep everything under control. He told us he knew it would be an hour and we were okay with that as our kids live nearby. When we picked them up, they were cheese instead of pepperoni like we asked for and he quickly corrected the mistake and insisted in giving us the price for cheese rather than pepperoni. I'm usually a fan of this place but today I was sold a calzone with undercooked dough. I only discovered this once I began eating and didn't have time to go back. The calzones are large enough to feed two adults. The most noteworthy thing is the excellent crust! They know how to make good dough. The shop is really warm inside so I don't recommend dining in. This is my husband's and my favorite pizza place in SLO. You can really tell the difference in quality by the fresh ingredients used for toppings and the crust is so good on its own! They don't skimp on the toppings either. It's a little pricey but well worth it for high quality pizza. The customer service was excellent. The wait time from ordering online was one hour. I waited a little bit longer but it's totally worth it. Walked in and saw about 5-6 pizzas on tables with people eating. They looked stacked with toppings and cheese. Looked great. Ordered the personal Thai pizza and was disappointed by the quantity of cheese and toppings. For $12 I would expect a bit more. Maybe this is the way it's done. This place has the most inconsistent customer service. I work next door and in order to ensure that I get to even eat on my lunch, I call in a head of time, the very minute that I clock out. They always say it will take 10-15 minutes and every single time, I get there 15 minutes after calling and am forced to wait an additional 10-15 minutes. Which puts me halfway through my lunch break. When you arrive, the girls that they have working the counter are so incredibly rude just as they were on the phone, so I shouldn't be surprised. Additionally, when you get your pizza, there's a chance that it will either be, okay, burnt or still doughy. I've heard the same complaints from my coworkers and other visitors. The only reason I come back is for it's convenient and better than eating nothing, maybe. read more

I had their pizza several times catered at work, but this was my first time trying it on my own. It was just as good. They have quite the pedigree in terms of awards. I think the pizza is well topped, tons of options, the crust is good and everything tastes fantastic. Nice smaller indoor eating area, though I took it to-go. Yeah that is NOT good pizza at all. I decided to try out Palo Mesa on my daughters birthday and was very disappointed with the pizza and the caprese. There's not much to say other than it just wasn't good. The wait was quite long as well even though I didn't really mind. It was just the pizza though. Both were a little burnt on the edge of the crust. Very thin and the flavor wasn't what we were expecting from 'award winning' pizza. I won't get it again, at least I tried it though, I'd heard so much about it. $46 for trying out bad pizza. I would say for my first time the pizza is good just missing a little bit more BBQ sauce and it would be perfect. I'm not sure I understand paying 4 extra dollars to add onions and mushrooms but I opted not to do that.
