After experiencing both the rooftop events and the downstairs dining, I can say Palo Santo is a must! Its characterized by its opulent atmosphere that sets the mood for an enchanting night. The entire experience from the service to the delectable dishes are very well executed. One of the things that I enjoyed the most was the eye for detail. From the host stand to the dining room, nothing was out place and you could see the contemporary blends of Mexican Artesanía. Although I enjoyed every dish my favorite bites where the steak tartar & the carne asada that is paired with bone marrow. The dishes are cleverly crafted, it's not hard to tell that a lot of work was put into curating the menu. The drinks are just as as delectable. Their mixologist deserves a gold star! To my enjoyment they even provided me with a stand for my purse which was very much appreciated. The service was flawless! As for the rooftop, it's absolutely captivating with a skyline view of the city. They hold multiple events throughout the month that are both vivacious and festive with a striking assembly of beautiful people. Perfect to meet hot new singles in the city! Highly recommend for a girls night out. There are many photo worthy spots throughout the restaurant that would be perfect for photographs to fit your social media needs or just a great pic to commemorate a bewitching evening. They offer complimentary parking which is always a plus not to have that extra cost to my dining experience. Dress code is high end, polished attire. Had dinner here last week with some clients and the food and service were fantastic! The restaurant is dark and intimate, and also offers an open rooftop. This gem is best known for it's traditional style (high end) Mexican cuisine. Everything was well prepared and loaded with flavor. My absolute favs were the mushroom rice, carne asada with bone marrow, grilled artichokes and the papas. An added bonus was the full bar offering unique carefully crafted cocktails. The old fashioned was smooth and delightful. My only complaints is that it is very Smokey and loud inside. They use a wood burning stove/grill which gives the food a nice flavor but the ventilation was insufficient. They music was also very loud considering the place was packed with chatty enthusiastic patrons. I couldn't hear the people across from the table and my ears hurt. read more

Rooftop = Vibes Dining room = Dinner This restaurant experience is stunning, yes; but my biggest recommendation is to remove the high tops on the roof. The roof is a total dance and drink vibe - and done well! But it was quite awkward for us to have to reserve tables that were essentially on the dance floor and in the middle of where people wanted to congregate. I loved the vibe but wished we had dinner downstairs and partied upstairs. The menu is also more bites and small plates in lieu of dinner whereas the downstairs dining room has the full menu. The upstairs also has a different check in system so if you did indeed make rooftop rezzies just say so at the front and they'll have you walk upstairs to check in. Despite being in the middle of the chaos the bites were pretty good but were priced high for what you get. I wish we had just gone upstairs for drinks! There is also a credit card charge, so be advised. The parking was fine- it's in a free lot a few hundred feet away but there is a gate near the back of the lot that shortcuts you to the restaurant. Overall I want to try the actual restaurant but the rooftop while cool doesn't need the high tops intercepting the dance floor and bar vibes. I feel as though other restaurants with beautiful interiors have more quality food for better prices. read more

This is my favorite ATL rooftop! I have been four times now, so they're overdue for a review! Location and Parking Conveniently located in Midtown, Palo Santo has free parking in a designated lot with an attendant. You have to walk through a gate and down some stairs to enter the building; a gate code is provided when you make a reservation (a must for the rooftop). Venue and Atmosphere You pass through the main dining room, and up a large flight of stairs to the roof. I've never eaten in the main room, but the vibes are dark, moody, and romantic. The rooftop has a separate host stand, and restrooms before passing through the stately wooden door to the actual roof. The vibes are tropical and breezy, yet sophisticated. Stay until sunset for gorgeous illuminated views of the city. There is a DJ every weekend; the playlists are always amazing. The rooftop is covered in care of inclement weather. Food and Beverages I've only had their unlimited champagne special; but I've heard good things about the cocktails. The guacamole, bao buns, gyoza, and strip steak are all noteworthy. I've ordered them multiple times and the quality is deliciously consistent. Service Service was friendly and efficient; our drinks were refilled promptly. It was raining when we arrived, but they had valet service and even offered umbrellas for the walk in--which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. So upon arriving we were seating at a table right in front of the kitchen. After ordering our appetizers we had to ask to be moved as there was so much smoke our eyes were watering. Since we were a larger party we moved to a table to the right which helped a bit but not much. Our server was great he broke down the drink and food menu and did his best to manage all tables. I did order a second drink that I never received, but outside of that he was great. In the end we were promoted to pay via an app which outside the 20% gratuity it also charged a $4.99 fee which I found odd. I was here for a private event. The food in the service was exceptional. The lining is very dim, even though that there is a light on the table.It's a very cozy and intimate space. I'm glad that they do have self parking. That is free even though you do have to walk down two sets of stairs to get to the front entrance from that self parking lot. Finally tried the roof top at palo santo. Got there at 7 but the crowd comes at 11:00 pm. Valet parking is $10 and self parking is also $10... not sure why. Parking is at entrance number 9 and a short walk away from the door. We reserved a table for the night and then after that's was done enjoyed the music . This restaurant is beautiful. I've been trying mocktails since I stopped alcohol this year. The virgin margarita was a strong 7. It had a bit of an after taste that might be solved when tequila is placed in the drink. Try the yuzu salt rim for your margarita. It's to die for. A bottle of water is 8.00 and the only choice for water. There is an extra roof top charge as well. The food is small but not the price of tapas. With a tip, the fees add up quickly lol. I'll be back to try the burnt cheese cake but I may take it to go. No fuss. The ambiance of this restaurant is incredible. We joined our friends for a birthday dinner and had a set menu that did not disappoint. The cauliflower at this place is top tier, even the next day!! The grilled chicken was competing with another one of my favorite spots. It was so fresh and tender. I also really enjoyed their shrimp, it had a lot of flavor and the temperature was perfect. The service was prompt, efficient and polite. They kept the drinks flowing and addressed all our needs. The churro dessert was delicious. My hubby even enjoyed it and he is not a dessert person. PALO SANTO WAS A OK | we were excited to check out the newest hippest restaurant in west midtown. Parking was godawful. Usually in west midtown, you can drive around to find street parking or a self parking lot. Unfortunately, Palo Santo is located a bit further out from the other restaurants and I would have felt uncomfortable walking in the pitch black darkness down the street from the major hub of restaurants. Parking was valet only and a huge mess in the tiny entrance/lot of cars trying to get in/get out. I ordered the Santo Carajillo, their take on an espresso martini, which was a fun cocktail that comes in a mokapot. It was my first time trying a carajillo, and to this day has been one of my favorite takes on the ever popular espresso martini. We started with some apps, including the las bravas, guacamole to share with the table, and the hamachi tostada. The guacamole was served in a beautiful bowl but kind of small for a table to share. The las bravas came pre-mixed - the server mixed it in the savory sauce upon arrival which was pretty tasty - and a better value for the amount of potatoes you get. The hamachi tostada was my favorite of the 3, really just made for one person but is topped with uni and is a decadent umami bite. For our mains, we ordered the Carne Asada which comes with a rich and meaty bone marrow, as well as the Mushrooms Rice. I felt like the seasoning on the mushrooms rice were was a little inconsistent - the dish was bland but when I tried another friend's rice, theirs was fine. So that was a little disappointing. We ended the night with a few desserts - one of each on the menu, to be exact. I think it was the best part of the evening - the churros, the chocolate bomb and the charcoal smoked panna cotta. Flavors on all 3 desserts were spot on and I would probably order each again. The chocolate bomb is perfect if you love chocolate molten lava cakes and the churros dessert was a fun take on the classic snack. We considered grabbing a drink on the rooftop before calling it a night but got kicked out shortly after we headed upstairs since one guy in our group was wearing a baseball cap. Nice. Overall, I wasn't super impressed. There are a lot of new vibe-y restaurants popping up in Atlanta to choose from - so unless the kinks have been ironed out in the past couple years, I probably won't be back to Palo Santo any time soon. read more

The menu is limited upstairs on the balcony, so we sat downstairs in the main dining room. I was getting a tapas vibe from this place so we ordered food to share, and then an entrée for ourselves. We started with the Pork shoulder, Patatas bravas, and Steak tartare. Split between four was a good portion. My feet were dancing under the table from the flavors. Definitely recommend the cocktails Sunkissed and tres en uno. Our server really hyped up the Birria tacos so I got that from my entrée, and it did not disappoint. My husband and I celebrated our 11th dating anniversary at Palo Santo and I couldn't be more happier that we did. The ambiance is very warm, romantic and intimate which was perfect for our date night. I'll start with the parking situation outside. There's no parking outside of the restaurant but there is free parking directly across the street so keep that in mind. We had reservations at 6 pm and we were seated promptly at 5:55 pm. Our server was April and she made sure we were tended to the entire night, she also gave us great recommendations on cocktails and entree items. Noah, our bartender was *chefs kiss!* all of the drinks we tried were mixed well and were consistent and met with nice pleasantries. We'd been to Palo Santo for a mid day lunch party previously and the food options were amazing, this was our first time here for dinner and I'll have to say these options were 10x better. I ordered the mushroom rice and couldn't choose between the NY strip or the octopus so I decided to add both and if you're eyeing this dish, please consider doing the same! Wow! What a burst of flavor. My husband ordered the sea bass and the cilantro sauce on top pairs so well with the taste of the fish. For appetizers we enjoyed the guacamole and steak tartare which are both extremely fresh and flavorful. Overall Experience: I recently visited Palo Santo and had a marvelous experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a beautiful ambiance. The decor is very well designed and sultry. Service: The service was very attentive. Our server was Miguel. He was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. He answered any questions we had and even made suggestions about the dishes we ordered and whether it would be enough for the table. The only down side to the service was the valet. There simply was no valet. There was an attendant there standing in the cold that informed drivers that the valet and the parking lot closest to the restaurant was closed. I thought that was off putting. Food: Guacamole: 6/10 it was good but also a little basic. It could have used some additional spices to give it a kick and add flavor. Las Bravas: 9/10 we really enjoyed these! they were crispy and flavorful. Hamachi Tiradito: 9/10 I didn't know what to expect with this but it was so delicious. It reminded me of sushi texture wise. The flavor was great and had depth! Bone in Prime Ribeye: 12/10 This was a knockout! It was a great dish to order for the table. It was a plentiful portion to share with the table. The flavor was amazing. Highly recommend this dish! Cocktails were great and Desserts were great too! Pleasantly surprised by the burnt cheesecake! Atmosphere: The atmosphere was trendy and cozy. I'll first start off by saying the food here is quite amazing. Hats off to the chef. We arrived during a storm on Friday, didn't realize that after paying $10 for valet, my husband (who has a torn Achilles) would still need to walk down stairs and down another longer sidewalk to literally hobble into the restaurant. We were one of the first two tables for the evening as we enjoy an early dinner after a long work week. Service started off great, we got two amazing cocktails and ordered the Hamachi as an appetizer. It was probably the best thing we had. As soon as the restaurant started filling up, we never saw our waitress again. While waiting for our main dishes, our eyes began to burn. I realized they were burning sage into a pedestal stand fan. I understand the ambiance that the sage can create but we were literally crying. We got through the meal and had to BEG to pay for it. It took about 45 min just to get a check. It honestly felt longer as our eyes were on fire. Once we received the check, we realized we had items on our check that we didn't receive and had to have them fix it. The restaurant adds a "service fee" to the checks, and then asks for an additional tip and the prompt says 35% is common. Just so you know, the service fee is the tip. I don't know who in the world would tip an additional 35% on top of a tip that was already added to the bill. Kinda rubbed us the wrong way after the service issues. If you are looking for great flavor and are okay with mediocre service on a couple hundred dollar bill, I encourage you to try this place out. read more

We had three seating areas for our large party with bottle service and the team kept our drinks and food going! This place later turned into a club atmosphere with a DJ that featured house music. We were absolutely thrilled that Palo Santo lived up to the hype. We started off with guacamole which came with tostadas to dip. The three of us got our own entrees--The Branzino, The Lamb Shank, and The Pork Belly--and since we were in a celebratory mood, we ordered the Octopus as well. Do not ask me which my favorite out of the four was, because two months later and I still can't decide. I'm a Pork Belly enthusiast and I've never had it prepared the way they do it at Palo Santo. I think it was braised and possibly fried and paired delicious sweet beet purée. The Branzino was big, pleasantly fishy, and kissed by the wood-fire, which gave the dish, skillfully simple essence allowing the natural flavors shine. The Lamb Shank was so tender I think everyone at the table's eyes rolled to the back of their head. I think the consensus was this was everyone's highly contested favorite. To end the meal, we ordered the "burnt cheesecake" which was Basque style but with a Mexican twist of being accompanied by a tomatillo glaze. In my mind, it shouldn't work but it 100% does.
