Looks like I spoke too soon. In less than 24 hours of my visit, I started noticing, that my eyes were sunken and swollen shut, and scalp and forehead seemed tight, as if they were being pulled. Per my friends, my face also looks swollen. See the attached pic. I also feel small blisters on my scalp when I run my fingers through it. When I called urgent care, and described my symptoms, the first question that I got asked, was if I got my hair colored. I confirmed I did, but clarified that I did not see any reaction, for up to 20 hours, I was told that allergic reactions take up to 48 hours to manifest. I was asked if the salon did a patch test, before they applied the color. They did not. So there you go! I am now wondering if I should risk going to the ER, given the pandemic, or risk not going to the ER, given my current situation. Not at all what I signed up for. :-| Responding to the comment : Karuna, I told you about the salon, well after you applied the color, when we were both waiting for it to dry- not before you applied it. In all fairness, I was the one who casually mentioned it when I was telling you how close your salon was, which probably means you wouldn't have even asked for It otherwise. I'm not sure if it was because I was a new client that the ladies working here gave me to a new employee for my wax appointment but my experience was awful. I honestly don't think she even had her cosmetology license. She was applying the wax so thick/ unevenly and in huge pieces. There was no method she was just randomly applying wax. She missed so many large spots(some I noticed while I was there so I had her redo them but this morning I noticed she missed my half my back lower leg). She also decided to make a few phone calls during my appointment(probably why she missed the spots). I have several superficial burns because she put such a thick layer of hot wax on certain areas, I don't even want to imagine what it would have been like if I had her do a Brazilian or face wax. I'm really upset with this experience it wasn't worth the money, I could have done a better job by myself. read more

Great new salon in the north Fremont area! Me and my mom went in to get a haircut because there was a sign that said 15% off for new customers only. There used to be a donut shop were the salon is now. My mother came for a haircut. Karuna (I'm guessing that's her name judging from the pictures) said that she had to get shampooed since it's been two days since my mother had washed her hair. She said that a shampoo, haircut, and blow dry would be $40 but if she didn't want that then she could just get her hair soaked. My mom agreed with the latter option. While they were talking, Karuna said that hair color touch up would be $60. She offered to do an allergic test on my mom, meaning that she's put the hair color on my moms arm and wait 24 hr to see if she was allergic to the ingredients. While she said this, a man that worked here went outside and took off the banner that said 15% off. They seem abbot pricey, knowing that there are salons in the area that charge less. Overall, out visit was very nice. I'm not sure if I'd come back due to the high prices. But they certainly know what they're doing. They have a barbering and cosmetology license on the wall too. I'm giving them 4 stars because while the experience was good, the prices were just a bit too high and the whole time Karuna tried to push my mom to use their other services too. If you are looking for eyebrow threading that's cheaper but still very good, go to Pearl Threading Studio down the street. They do a great job and only charge $5. The total for the haircut was $30. However since we got the 15% discount, the total was about $26. read more

I have known Karuna for sometime now and this review is overdue. Karuna has always been excellent at customer service listening to the needs of the customer. When my long time hair person left the area, I decided to try Tajinder at Karuna's recommendation. Tajinder did an excellent job of giving me a haircut. My hair sometimes do not behave and completely flatten out and that's what happened and I was upset since I had to go to a party right after. Karuna heard me and insisted to get it right.. I was in a hurry but she convinced me to stay few more minutes and not only went out of her way to fix my hair but did it with complete calm and a smile on her face. I was so touched by her gesture and what was going to be a not so great day turned out be one of neat hair day.. She doesn't thin them out like other threaders have in the past and she has a gentle hand. It doesn't hurt when she threads and she does such a thorough job. I came here for their deep conditioning hair treatment. All I wanted to say was that from the washing all the way to the blow-drying, they did a fabulous job. When I was sitting under the dryer, they offered and made me a cup of coffee. They have very clean facilities and they make you feel comfortable. I have very thick and curly hair, and they knew how to deal with it. I would come back here for this keratin treatment, my hair was soft, it felt healthier and they styled it very nicely. So, here I am on Yelp desperately searching for threading services since my go-to is on vacation and generally difficult to make an appointment with. Us Yelpers are always in search for a 5 Star establishment and so my eyes naturally gravitated towards Karuna with her high ratings. I was very excited to learn that booking an appointment online (and with an app) was available! A+ for convenience! Karuna was quick to confirm my appointment and send reminders all through e-mail and phone notifications. In addition to the online services, the location is close to my home so I was already falling in love. I arrived promptly for my appointment inside the 5150 Salon. Karuna greeted me by name and showed me the way to her working area located right in the middle of the salon. Having all of the hairstylists working with their own clients (blowdrying and other chatter) left little room for Karuna and I to really build a rapport because of all of the noise. Her work is at a pace that I'm not really used to. I'm obviously not skilled in this area, but I have been getting threaded for about a decade and others usually do it with swifter motions. I found myself stretching my skin for longer than I'm used to. I thought, maybe she likes to take her time and is meticulous? I'm content with the outcome of my eyebrows, but not amazed. They're symmetrical and clean, but I prefer sharper lines and definition -- the whole reason why I prefer threading over any other method. A tad bit disappointed but definitely not devastated. I would keep this place in mind for backup, but would still prefer my go-to even though it's so difficult to make an appointment. What a fantastic experience at a nice, friendly place. I was visiting that area to be at friend's wedding. My wife and I found this place from Yelp. We got the appointment through yelp. Wow. Although this business has a high rating, some of the individual reviews left me unsure of what to expect. I'm glad I took a chance. I bought the Groupon for the European Hydra advanced facial. She was on time, professional, and (my most important requirement for a facial) quiet. She wasn't one of those estheticians who talks through the service. This is a review for eye brow threading services. I would say this is the first time someone actually fixed my left eyebrow to the point it was no longer messed up! I love her attention to detail and she really listens to her clients. I felt she took extra time to analyze my eyebrows as one of them unfortunately has a little patch of hair that stopped growing after I over plucked several years ago. Young mistake that I will forever pay for, but she took care of it and I felt so happy to deal with someone that does know eyebrows as some people will just give you nod yes and it's always a 50/50 chance they leave your eye brows to satisfaction.
